[smear:87CEFF]Heronpaw[/smear:FAF0E6]

Brilliant blue eyes, of the very same blue as her mother's, flicked open to the sound of early morning birds. The scent of air, crisp, chilly and fresh pulled into her lungs as her chest expanded, head snapping up as she scattered bits of her nest. Excitement coursed through her veins, instantly wiring the young she-cat. It shouldn't be surprising that her next motion was to spring straight out of her nest, her sleep-clumsy paws barely managing to keep her upright. She tried to avoid waking any of the other apprentices, but with this cream and ginger she-cat, that was always a distinct possibility.
Half-bursting, half-tripping through the entrance to the apprentice's den, Heronpaw's blue eyes blinked rapidly against the light of the early morning sun. Did she make it? Did she wake up early enough today? Oh she hoped so... Her eyes desperately scanned the camp, looking for any signs of life. It was here that she noticed movement up near the leader's den. For a brief moment, all her breathing ceased as she focused herself on that spot. Broad shoulders pushed out into the sun, light reflecting off his sand-brown coat. She watched as his pale amber eyes raked the camp, as his ears pricked to listen to the surroundings. This was Hawkstar.
This was her father. Pride swelled in her chest as she watched her powerful father step forward on his perch to greet to small group of cats gathered below. She couldn't hear the words exchanged, but she didn't care. She could imagine Hawkstar's deep voice as he spoke, the strength behind his meow. She couldn't imagine being part of any other Clan. Her pale rump lowered to the ground, tail wrapping over her paws as she contented herself in her observatory position.
She became so wrapped up in the events unfolding before her that she didn't really register when the group mobilized. The Dawn Patrol was leaving. It wasn't until pale amber eyes at the head of the patrol met hers that she seemed to become aware of herself once more. Starting slightly, she watched as her father briefly excused himself and bounded in her direction. "Heronpaw? Are you alright?" There was the deep voice she'd been imagining earlier. Standing up to greet him, she purred happily and touched noses with the large tom. "Daddy! I just wanted to watch the Dawn Patrol leave. I've missed it the last few days."
The bigger tom looked at her curiously before chuckling. "I can't say I've heard of many apprentices who want to be up early enough to catch the Dawn Patrol." A wide grin spread over the young she-cat's mouth. "Well, I'm not any old apprentice! I'm your daughter!" A warm look crossed the StoneClan leader's face as he let a slight rumbling escape his throat. Bending to lick the top of Heronpaw's head, the broad-shouldered tom replied gently. "That you certainly are. Try to get a little more sleep, Heronpaw. You don't want to be tired when Eagletalon takes you out for your training."
Stepping back, he smiled at her. "The Dawn Patrol is waiting for me, so I should leave." At his words, she leapt forward, so she could bury her nose in his fur again. "I love you, Daddy!" She relaxed as his nose pressed to her shoulder gently. "And I love you, Heronpaw." Whispering her goodbye, Heronkit watched as her father began padding away. He paused, just briefly, a few foxlengths away to glance over his shoulder. "And if you find yourself unable to sleep, why don't you see if the elders need anything this morning." And then he was gone.
The young she-cat winced slightly. Her father was far too quick. She'd never once thought about going back to her nest. Letting her rump flop back to the ground, she huffed slightly and began tracing little patterns in the dirt with her claw. She found herself wishing for someone, anyone to come and distract her. She wanted to do something exciting! The fresh morning air was exhilarating to her! She had far too much energy to go around serving the elders!
