There was no better beauty then that of TreeClan in greenleaf. Stormchaser has spent the early part of his day hunting and found himself not wanting to return to camp just yet. With his caught prey hidden away the blue tom found his way toward the great maple, a favorite place for him. Pausing just a moment at the base of the tree, his attention slowly drew upwards staring at the red hot leaves of the tree and smiled. His love for his home grew even bigger as he appreciated the beauty. Slowly he gathered himself up and launched himself onto the closest branch, took a moment to steady himself before going higher, his scar worn shoulder given little protest as the blue tom climbed.

From his perch high up in the tree, Stormchaser was able to see a great deal of TreeClan. His vantage point made the world seem small but at the same time gigantic. In the calm that was his climbing expedition, Stormchaser pressed his back against the trunk of the tree and settled in, watching the world around him.

        There were few cats with the daring or the skill to climb the Great Maple; Lionstar, out of a preference for having all four paws on the ground when it came to their gargantuan landmark, could still find enjoyment by staying on one of the lower branches or simply settling down beside its roots, watching the sun set. He wasn't the only one looking for a nice spot to relax during sunhigh, it seemed; chin raised, Lionstar scented the air and caught the fresh musk of Stormchaser. He glanced on either side of the tree before instinct told him to look up, and he spotted the streamlined tom lounging amongst the branches like an overgrown bird; the golden warrior's whiskers twitched with amusement, and he called up in a teasing tone that hadn't seen the light of day since apprenticeship.
"Planning on building a nest up there?"

They hadn't seen much of each other lately - at least, not beyond normal Clan duties. Rarely was the chance given to socialize, ever since he had accepted the noble burden of leadership, but it was obvious neither tom held a grudge over it. A friendship like theirs wasn't the kind that would dissolve without constant attention, without constant chances to share tongues or reminisce about the old days; friends since kithood, and their brotherly relationship would live on no matter how busy they both became. Of course, that wasn't to say they both couldn't acknowledge just how long it had been since they'd casually been in one another's company; what's he been up to all these moons? Lionstar wished he had a clue, but if he had to take a shot in the dark, he'd probably say it had something to do with Moonshimmer. For all the hectic mornings his role gave him, he had at least been able to catch onto his friend's affections for Adderstrike & Gentlebreeze's little sister; this brought Sunstride to mind, but Lionstar snuffed those thoughts out like a small spark, not interested in dredging up any more negative feelings towards the ginger tom. Sunstride had made his decision. It was important now that he focused on TreeClan, not embraced a sense of paranoia that others would be following in Sunstride's path.

Speaking of focusing on TreeClan... Lionstar's thoughts drifted, as they often did, to Willowfur. Maybe Stormchaser can help me help her, Littletimber had tried everything to jolt the gray and white she-cat's memory into recalling her life here in the Clan, but that had failed. Now, in Lionstar's hopeful opinion, it would take a personal touch, a sense of camaraderie that would bring Willowfur back to them... That had to be it. He wouldn't know what to do if this didn't work either.

Wind ruffled his fur as the leaves made the faintest rustling sound, despite his height in the trees Stormchaser never felt more alive even as far as to see invincible. The swaying motion had an almost hypnotic feel and threatened to lull the grey warrior to sleep if it wasn't for a distant voice from below. Perking his ears up and tilting his head toward the sound, Stormchaser was able to catch the voice just as a overflow of laughter filled his chest. "I'd live up here if I didn't have to go on patrol everyday." Stormchaser answered back, maneuvering himself two branch down. The golden pelt of his best friend and leader of his Clan shined in the greenleaf sun. "What brings the great and noble leader of TreeClan out and about? Do I miss my patrol?" Stormchaser teased lightly. The one thing about their friendship was how close they remained despite their busy lives, Stormchaser knew Lionstar always had his back in the same way Stormchaser had his.

Crouching low on the branch that was just a few tail lengths above Lionstar, Stormchaser flicked his tail back and forth trying to get a read on his friend. The trouble with Willowfur was weighing heaving on his heart. The blue-grey tom wanted to have all the answers, but it was clear with his own failure in the mate department that he wouldn't be of any help. Moonshimmer had often filled the thoughts of Stormchaser but despite his courage to face a NightClan patrol, Stormchaser lacked the courage to ask a pretty she-cat to go on a walk.

Remaining on his perch his pale eyes scanned upward toward the sky for a moment, remembering his home away from home, what would it be like to fly? Came a random thought before he pushed it away by returning his attention to Lionstar. "How can I help?" He asked in total seriousness, it was fun to tease and joke but when his friend needed him Stormchaser would always be ready.

        Long pale whiskers twitched in bemusement. Had he really been so easy to read? Or had Stormchaser simply put a little deductive reasoning to work and concluded that he was here to ask for his help with something? Either way, Lionstar was grateful to hear him so willing. "It's Willowfur," admitted the golden warrior. "Her memories do not seem to be returning, but I'm not ready to give up quite yet. Could you make her feel more welcomed? There are plenty in the Clan who are happy that she's returned, but there are only a pawful of cats who would have truly known her as she was." The streamlined gray tom Lionstar had grown up with may be able to shed some light on the deep shadows of Willowfur's mysterious past—known to all but the one who had experienced it.

Lionstar was a little relieved that Sootmask and Mockingbird took no great interest in their aunt, that Sootmask had been stricken with a kind of indifference of personality Lionstar could finally see the benefit of. Sootmask was definitely not the sort of cat who would be meddling in the affairs of others, or comforting them, or doing anything at all beyond the usual hunt-fight-train patterns of behavior. Mockingbird, however... He could not place his claw on it, but something about that she-cat was deeply unsettling. Apart from her practically being Grayowl's doppelganger in all but personality, just the sight of those burning golden eyes staring out at him from the dark depths of the warriors' den was enough to make his hackles raise. He was getting very good at feigning calmness, but hearing about the small fight between the wretched Grayowl, Zephyrfang and (thank StarClan she was fine) Brokensong, he was a little more on edge than he'd like.

Deep down, despite the golden tom's heavy belief in the code, he knew he would find no peace from the gray rogue until he was dead and buried. Lionstar's mood threatened to blacken like a storm cloud; with Willowfur so closely linked to Grayowl, his concerned, noble thoughts of her became hateful, suspicious thoughts of him, and Lionstar wasn't going to tolerate that anymore. Willowfur was a warrioress of TreeClan who was going through something no cat should have to, and Grayowl was a creature best spoken of in the past tense. He was no warrior of TreeClan anymore. As far as Lionstar was concerned, Willowfur didn't have a brother.

Stormchaser

The mention of their Clanmate had Stormchaser jumped from his perch to stand across from his friend. Giving him a comforting nudge as moved to stand beside him, someone for the golden leader to lean on. It wasn't easy to deal with what had happened to Willowfur and what had to happen to her brother, it was a blow to everyone's faith in TreeClan. The idea of making her feel more welcomed had Stormchaser nodding in agreement. He'd do anything for TreeClan even if it meant bring back old memories.

"I'll do my best, but I can't promise anything. Willowfur and I weren't the close." He stated, he knew it was important to Lionstar that Willowfur return to him and to TreeClan but even Littletimber couldn't make that miracle happen.

A since of weary silence drew over them. Stormchaser was conflicted about the state of his best friend, while his leader was conflicted about something else. No matter, they have over come a lot as friends and adding another trail to their life wouldn't do any harm.

"Any sign of Grayowl?" He asked, it wasn't out of concern for his banished Clanmate but out of his anger. It was one thing not to like a Clan but to attempt to kill your sister! That was whole different level of darkness that Stormchaser could never full understand. He asked the question to maybe gauge better how Lionstar was feeling, perhaps if it suited the golden warrior, a pair of warriors could see out the grey tom and ensure he'd never return. Some cats just didn't listen to reason and needed a few bodily reminders. While Stormchaser was the more peaceful type, it was special circumstances like this that had a different side showing.

        "Any sign of Grayowl?"

It took a herculean amount of effort not to spit on the grass between them. Not to say he was upset with Stormchaser for bringing up a cat he fully considered his archenemy (he nearly snorted at this. To think, a Clan leader had an archenemy. This wasn't the stuff of legends, this was an embarrassment), Lionstar nowadays was marking his moons by Grayowl sightings. A good moon was not seeing hide nor whisker of the ex-TreeClan cat; a bad moon was a faint wisp of the cunning warrior to near to TreeClan's borders for Lionstar's liking.

"Zephyrfang and Brokensong chased him off, actually." A twitching tail, two narrowed eyes, the raising of a dark golden lip; oh yes, he couldn't quite express his contempt any better at that moment. "But other then that, no, haven't seen him." This unwanted but not unexpected fight with Grayowl had warranted double patrols for a while, and though Lionstar had begun to lessen the frequency of the doubles, he was still keeping a wary eye on the treeline for any sight of piercing golden eyes and ash-gray fur. Not wishing to discuss it, Lionstar shook his head, and forced a smile next, latching onto something that was a bit more pleasant to talk about. Despite a rather taboo subject having been brought up, there was a glint of humor filling the warrior's rich amber eyes.
"Enough of Grayowl. Anything to report with Moonshimmer?"

His best friend's affections for the pretty gray tabby had not at all escaped his notice; busy as he was, distracted as he was these days, Lionstar could still recognize a crush when he saw one, especially when the cat with the crush was someone he'd once shared the nursery with.
