Name: Smokekit – Smokepaw - Smokeface
Age: 59 Moons (72 Moons as of June 12th, 2013)
Gender: She-Cat
Clan: StoneClan
Rank: Senior Warrior
Description: Smokeface has always stood apart from her fellow warriors, though usually for her clear-headed, smart decisions and strategic mindset, but her appearance is nothing to pass on either. Smokeface is predominantly white, but as her name indicates, her face has a distinctive smoky-charcoal hue, darkest around her black leathery nose and providing a handsome contrast for those piercingly yellow eyes of hers. The almost 'mask-like' pigmentation stops just at the end of her upper jaw, leaving her chin, throat, and the rest of her body completely white, with the occasional gray wisp showing up in her overly fluffy tail. Smokeface is large in size for a she-cat, big enough to compete and sometimes surpass the toms of her Clan, with very long, very dense fur that enables her to get through leaf-bare with ease, though she avoids getting her fur wet like the plague.
Due to having led a long and duty-bound warrior's lifestyle, Smokeface is not without her battle scars, and has given up on looking like 'the prettiest flower in StoneClan' since shortly after she became a warrior; her left ear is tattered, her paws are riddled with scars, and there are noticeable nicks and pock-marks all over her face, as though many a cat has scratched and bitten her ruthlessly in battle.
There is actually a small chunk missing out of her tail, but the plume is so fluffy, it's difficult to tell unless she grooms the fur away to reveal the remaining scars. She has a tattered claw on her back right paw, and it never sheathes anymore due to the injuries it sustained.
Description Summary: Large fluffy white she-cat with piercing yellow eyes and a smoky mask.
Personality:
Smokeface is about as soft as the stone her Clan was named for; with a low tolerance for silliness, laziness and neglect of duties, she keeps track of her Clan and her own brood with eagle eyes and the protectiveness of a mother bear. She's not the kind of cat you want to get on the wrong side of, make no mistake; her long, bloody, procreative life has left her with experiences only a few other cats in StoneClan can match, and Smokeface makes sure her voice is heard, often speaking with reason and a clear-headedness that is welcomed at most Clan discussions. On the surface, there doesn't seem to be much to this she-cat that she doesn't already present before her Clan; tough as nails in battle, often giving twice as good as she gets, a decent speaker, a strong loyalist to StoneClan, and with excellent nurturing skills while still maintaining iron discipline and order.
Outside of her own offspring, Smokeface is notoriously hard to impress; it's as though nothing anyone ever does will be good enough, however, she doesn't let her high standards compromise her loyalty to her fellow warriors and even to Fallingstar and Falconleap, both she-cats of which Smokeface views as somewhat lacking. Her perfectionist nature stems from moons spent mastering hunting and fighting techniques, and thus she leaves little room for error in herself and sometimes in her offspring, though it's considerably less with them compared to her non-kin.
It's no surprise that Smokeface is somewhat controlling, as a mother of 6, she is determined to have a certain amount of say in what her offspring do or don't do. She has her own goals for them, and continues to push them to achieve higher things, to try harder, to make more of themselves than what she's been seeing so far. Though she's meddlesome, Smokeface means well, especially with her own lovely brood, the warrior-queen constantly cultivating them into sound, noble members of StoneClan.
However, Smokeface's personality has recently began to unravel like a skein of yarn, her normally calm, collected persona having been won over by a mother's grief turned to cold-blooded vengeance. Fiercely protective of her offspring, the loss of young Robinpaw, the baby of the family, was already a deep and festering wound where her heart used to be, but the recent death of her oldest and favorite son, Warhawk, has forcibly removed her wounded heart and left an ice-block in it's place.
Taken over by the agony of losing one of her sons just at the prime of his life, Warhawk starting to live up to his potential before his untimely death, Smokeface has sworn vengeance upon Lionstep and all his kin, thinking it a 'fair price' for the loss of so precious a cat. Smokeface is a strong believer in 'an eye for an eye', even if the whole world becomes blind, she'd rather do things that way than settle for a more peaceful approach and a few memories left of Warhawk. Determined to drag Lionstep's bloody body through the whole of TreeClan if that's what it takes to avenge her beloved son's death, Smokeface will do it gladly.
Not considering this a 'Clan versus Clan' matter, Smokeface intends to settle the score herself, acting outside the warrior code and the guidance of her ancestors for the sake of her murderous cause, enlisting the aid of her remaining offspring, unaware of the tension and treachery that's been fermenting between her children for moons now. Blind-sided and consumed by her grief, Smokeface will murder, lie, cheat and steal if that's what it takes, and not even Fallingstar can stop her from evening up the score.
History:
Because this character is a villain, and her back-story isn't too important, let's just summarize the boring stuff and get to the good stuff, kay?
Parents: Speckledpelt & Rocknose, both were very happy, and she inherited her father's perfectionist nature and her mother's nuturing and love of kits.
Mentor: The former StoneClan leader, Foxstar, died, Boulderstar became leader, Boulderstar died, and now Fallingstar is the StoneClan leader.
Smokeface was given her warrior name at exactly 11 moons, hers presented to her a little earlier than her fellow apprentices due to having participated in a border skirmish at the Sun Stones against LightningClan, and had helped her Clan mates come out victorious. Smokeface has led a fairly normal warrior life, though perhaps a bit more prolific than some others, but that certainly can't be counted against her.
What began her relationship with Longclaw, however, wasn't a deep love, but rather a mutual sense of admiration for the skills of one another, as well as the fact that their personalities weren't the kind that created tension and disagreement. Able to stand one another, think in a similar fashion and both being incredibly skilled warriors, the match was a smart one.
When Smokeface was 29 Moons old, she gave birth to her first litter of Thornkit, a tom, and Honeykit, a little she-kit. There was a certain amount of nervousness and protectiveness that came with her first litter, and for a while she wouldn't let anyone near her two precious babies until they were about 2 moons old. While the nervousness, with the support from her mother and the occasional check-in from Longclaw, eventually dissipated, her natural protectiveness of her offspring did not. In fact, the more kits she had, the stronger it seemed to have gotten.
6 moons later, Smokeface had the immense pride of watching her two precious kits become apprentices – her son, Thornpaw, was given to his father, Longclaw as his mentor. Smokefaace returned to her warrior duties for roughly 8 moons until another litter sired by Longclaw had her back in the nursery, her second brood born just 9 moons after her first litter. While her eldest two were now nearing warriorhood, Smokeface welcomed Jaggedkit, the only tom in the litter, Mothkit and Quailkit, two lovely she-cats, into StoneClan.
One of her proudest moments as a mother, was when her son Thornpaw, who then became Thornfang, earned a brand new warrior name – the kind of name that did not reflect an injury or anything negative, but was earned because of his outstanding physical prowess and his 'invincibility' in battle. Thornfang became Warhawk, the prefix 'war' for his total domination on the battlefield, 'hawk' as a suffix for his embodiment of one of StoneClan's fiercest birds of prey, it seemed suitable for a warrior of Thornfang's ferocity and masterful display of instinct and strategy in times of war.
Before Thornfang had earned his new warrior name, Smokeface had given birth to 2 more litters, the third being one tom and a she-kit, Raccoonkit and Sorrelkit, but Sorrelkit did not survive the harsh leafbare StoneClan had suffered through at the time of her birth. Her last litter, containing only one kit, Robinkit, had been born shortly after she became a senior warrior, at the age of 53 moons.
It has been roughly 1 month since Warhawk's name change, when the incident with the TreeClan deputy, Lionstep, had occurred. Two incredibly significant events have led up to this blood feud she has called down upon Lionstep and his kin; the first incident, was the loss of her youngest, at only 5 moons, a whole moon before he was to be apprenticed to Batear – or so it was rumored – Robinkit was killed by demon.
Unknown to Smokeface, her two older children, Quailflight and Raccoonmask, had chased their youngest brother from the safety of TreeClan's territory, chasing him up into the mountains, swearing that they would kill him if he ever returned. A chunk of bloody hairs was all they brought back of their brother, swearing that demon had devoured him as easily as a cat devoured a squirrel – not even leaving the bones. Overcome with grief, Smokeface became a less forgiving form of herself, blaming fate and StarClan for the bad hand that had been dealt to her baby, and began to pour all of her attention into her remaining kits.
Her plans revolved mainly around Warhawk. Imagining him to become deputy after Falconleap, and then become the mighty Warstar, the proudest, most feared cat in the whole forest, it was another unforgivable blow to the she-cat's heart when her favorite and oldest son, Warhawk, had been killed by the TreeClan deputy. Raccoonmask, who had been there at the time of the fight, swore upon StarClan that Lionstep had purposefully shoved Warhawk into the river, and had held him down until he drowned.
Shocked being an understatement, it was the first time Smokeface had felt completely and truly lost. Why had StarClan robbed her of both her eldest and her youngest, all within a moon of each other? Why? What had she done to deserve such cruelty? Warhawk's death was what broke the camel's back. Smokeface let her initial fairness and mercy towards TreeClan dissolve into nothingness, replacing it with a fox-hearted, fiery revenge that not even the soothing words of all the cats in StarClan could've extinguished. Determined to rob TreeClan of their ambitious young deputy, just as TreeClan had robbed her of her own son who's future couldn't have been any brighter short of a blessing from StarClan, Smokeface is using the best of her abilities to plan for the worst things imaginable.
Not willing to go right for the jugular, Smokeface is more of a 'slowly bleed to death' kind of murderer, and has all the malice, motive and resolve to steal the things Lionstep loves right out from under him, starting with his apprentice, DFeatherpaw, then his mother, Sandfur, and anyone Lionstep comes in contact with, if that's what it takes to make him suffer.
With a heart full of hatred and raw grief, Smokeface will not stop until her insidious mission is complete – or she dies in the process.
