Collecting moss for the elders was more of an inconvenience than anything else. Graypaw didn't complain as he carried out his apprentice chores, aware that even the smallest jobs in the Clan had to be done by someone. Eventually, he would be a warrior, and he would get to do more heroic things, but until then he would endure all of the 'hardships' of being in training. Graypaw trotted across camp, his mouth stuffed full of the damp tendrils, and he nodded politely to the warriors he passed in camp. Once he reached his destination, the large tom dropped the moss onto the den floor.
To the tom's slight disappointment, there were no kits visiting to hear stories of great warriors past, stories which Graypaw was quite fond of listening to even now that he was out of kithood. First task complete, Graypaw turned back into the center of camp to see if there was anything interesting going on: other apprentices up for a practice fight, a patrol which might take him along, or even his mentor so that they could get in some training. Whatever was going on that day, Graypaw had no plans to be idle.

SKUNKPAW Apprentice || She-Cat || 13 Moons || StoneClan Was there ever going to be a moment where she didn't recoil at the thought of unexpected social interaction? It wasn't as if going on patrols had surprised her, that was as much a daily part of life as was eating and drinking and grooming one's pelt; what did take the petite black and white feline by surprise was Wolfclaw's calm orders to round up Loudrain and Graypaw for a quick patrol near Sun Stones. It was peculiar for her, to have the deputy speak to her so directly - though it wasn't as if he was some sort of otherworldly feline who bothered to exchange a few words with a mere mortal such as herself - but it was almost as if... Wolfclaw had put her in charge of the patrol?
That can't be right. Why would any cat be featherbrained enough to put me in charge of anything? Maybe it was due to Loudrain's long-sustained throat injury and Graypaw's youth that Wolfclaw had spoken to her about it instead of either of those two? Skunkpaw felt unnerved by this, not that it took much to make her uncomfortable.
Spotting the aptly named Graypaw, Skunkpaw crossed the campsite to approach him, her mew coming out a little less friendly than she'd wanted it. "Have you seen Loudrain? Wolfclaw wants you, me and him to patrol near the Sun Stones." He wouldn't be sending them to investigate it, would he? No, you birdbrain. Their odd looking deputy would never send two apprentices and one young warrior to investigate the Sun Stones - it was just your basic border patrol, that's all. Maybe it would be wise to go hunting afterwards? Probably, though her introverted personality was shunning the idea of prolonging the patrol longer than was necessary.
Oh well. Loudrain was an okay sort of tom, and she couldn't claim to know much about Graypaw, but he seemed alright enough.

Loudrain rolled over so that he was laying on his back, his tummy exposed to a nice beam of sunlight. It was nice, this small doze and patch of warmth, and made all the sweeter by no looming obligations. At least, none he could remember. He paused in rubbing his back against the ground and thought. No, no looming obligations at all.
His scar itched, and he stretched out the side of his neck to ease it. Sometimes he resented it and his inability to speak, but usually not. No one looked at him with pity much anymore, thankfully. It was his own blunder that had gotten him injured, anyway, and some days he was thankful just to still be alive.
One of his eyes opened a peek at the sky. Though they weren't visible, he knew Silverpelt was up there somewhere. His eye drifted closed again and he sighed contentedly. He'd only been here for a little while, and it wasn't against the warrior code to take a nap, he hoped anyway. If someone needed him, they could come get him- he wasn't that hidden, still in camp. He rolled over onto his side to get more sun and sighed again.

"Really?" Graypaw meowed in slight surprise. The tom's tail curled in delight; he was surprised to be invited on a patrol without his mentor, especially since he was still a new apprentice, but he wasn't going to question it. A patrol would be a great way for him to keep busy during the day and help the Clan. Graypaw seemed to radiate cheer after hearing the news, but shook his head in response to Skunkpaw's question. "I haven't seen him today, but I can go get him!" With that, the excited Graypaw made a quick dash towards the warriors den in order to pick up the last member of their patrol.
He didn't see Loudrain right away, so Graypaw circled around back into camp where he spotted the warrior. Then, Graypaw bounded over to Loudrain and called loudly, "Hey! Loudrain, Wolfclaw wants us to go with Skunkpaw on a patrol." Graypaw stood by, waiting for the warrior to get up and go with him.

Firecloud The ginger and white tom glared at the apprentice who had woken him up. He looked at his daughter then and he sighed. "Yes?" "Wolfclaw wants you to go and join the new patrol, now. Your new apprentice is there, his name is Graypaw." The tom perked up at the sound of a new apprentice and he nodded. He got up and he walked from the den. he was almost plowed into though when an apprenticealmost ran into him. He purred lightly and heard him calling for Loudrain. He chuckled and walked over to where the rest of the patrol was. He looked at them then and dipped his head. "Sorry for the intrusion. Wolfclaw wants me to come with to get used to my new apprentice. Graypaw I believe his name was." He saw that it was Skunkpaw only so far but he figured that Graypaw would be coming back soon enough. Words:### ● Tagged:closed

SKUNKPAW Apprentice || She-Cat || 13 Moons || StoneClan Uncertain if she was meant to go with Graypaw to find Loudrain, Skunkpaw's indecisiveness had resulted in no progress as per usual. Standing there as if she'd missed the signal to start after them, the black and white she-cat started at the presence and voice of another - older - cat, regarding Firecloud with an apprehensive stare. "O-Oh, alright. That's fine. Not that you needed my approval. I'll shut up now." Hawkdung! Skunkpaw was mentally cursing her inability to converse with adults, even if she practically was one, though if she was being honest with herself, only her exterior really came off as 'mature and adult-like', on the inside she felt entirely still stuck as a juvenile.
And a part of her was alright with that. There was no reason to grow up too soon, right? "Yeah, his name is Graypaw. He went to get Loudrain." Skunkpaw added, sitting awkwardly beside Firecloud. Should I say something? Redpaw was his son, wasn't he? A bit of conversational chatter hovers on the tip of her tongue, but she ultimately decided against it; if he wanted to talk about Redpaw, wouldn't he have brought it up himself? And since Wolfclaw had sent Firecloud here, did that mean he didn't think her competent enough to lead a patrol? Skunkpaw almost snorted out loud; she was being ridiculous, seriously. Most likely scenario was that Wolfclaw had assigned her, Graypaw and Loudrain together, and then realized last minute that they'd need one more cat to even out their numbers. It had nothing to do with competence levels, right? Right.
.... Maybe.

Loudrain's eyes slid open again and he blinked in the sun. An apprentice--Graypaw, isn't it? he thought to himself conversationally--stood over him, who seemed very excited about something. It took a moment for the words to sink in, and when they did he rolled over and pushed himself to his paws, then shook out his fur. A patrol sounds pretty good right now, he thought, pleasantly surprised. He nodded at the young apprentice and flicked his tail in a lead-on gesture.
He poured his focus into the patrol, shaking the sleep-induced cobwebs from his brain as they went to where Firecloud and Skunkpaw were waiting. He dipped his head at them both in greeting, his paws already itching to get started after the recharging from a nice, long nap. It's a pretty nice day for a patrol, he thought to himself again, as if he'd get an answer from anyone who wasn't himself.

Having woke Loudrain, Graypaw padded eagerly back into the center of camp where he had left Skunkpaw, and another warrior alongside the she-cat. Ears perked with curiosity, the tom slowed his pace until he was standing directly in front of the two. Would there be another cat joining them on the patrol? That's what things looked like, so Graypaw didn't bother to ask. "I found Loudrain," the tom announced, somewhat proudly. The tom beamed at Skunkpaw, his eyes gleaming. He had a youthful air about him, and his enthusiasm was almost infectious.
"So, when do we leave?" Graypaw questioned. Even though he was standing in relatively the same place, he couldn't stay still. Full of energy, the apprentice was subconsciously kneading the ground, and his tail-tip twitched as further indication of his anticipation. It was the first time Graypaw would actually be on patrol, even if it was just a quick one. He still had a long way to go in his training, but he still had a feeling that he was getting closer to becoming a full-fledged warrior.

FIRECLOUD of StoneClan 45 Moons. Tom. Senior Warrior
A small chuckle came from it, though it sound more like an amused purr. The black and white she-cat in front of him was nervous, and that made him amused slightly. He nodded his head though at her reply."Relax Skunkpaw. I am more friendly than most of the others, I can tell." He listened to her next statement and he nodded once more. "Thank you." He sat there and he waited. The next cat that was to appear though was Loudrain. He dipped his head down to the tom. "Hello Loudrain. I trust your nap was well?" He offered the small conversation to the other warrior.
But soon enough, his own apprentice made his way back to the patrol and he flicked his tail lightly. He heard the announcement and Firecloud sighed lightly. He looked at Loudrain though and he flicked his tail to the other tom. "I am here to mainly just teach Graypaw. You can lead." He offered the other tom the leadership of this patrol, for frankly, Firecloud didn't want to lead anyways. The white and ginger tom looked down at Graypaw then and he lowered his head.
"Graypaw, I am your mentor, Firecloud. Ask me anything you like, and I shall answer." He told the tom then as she waited for the patrol to start moving from the camp.
