Brightpool
During the rare occasions that the snow melted enough to travel without being buried or in Brightpool's case, lost in the white blanket of leaf-bare, warriors of LightingClan would venture out in search of prey and others would do their warrior duty and mark borders. Brightpool on the other paw was doing neither, she fully intended to do some hunting but with this odd feeling in the bit of her stomach she couldn't focus long enough to do so, instead she was just walking around the territory.
Easily she lost track of time but that didn't stop her nose from twitching at the stomach rumbling scent of rabbit. Normally she wouldn't seek out such a prey, the petite white she-cat normally stick to hunting small mice and the odd vole the ventured too close to the border, but something about this scent smelled old but fresh at the same time. Following her nose she allowed it to take her to what looked like a over grown rabbit burrow. Relying heavily on her nose she sniffed around it and inspected the overgrown borrow for some time before finding a small hole in the bracken. Being the small that she was, she wiggled into it and found the opening of the tunnel to be a comfortable size for her to stand and look around. While the tunnel itself had caved in moons ago, she was able to tell faint scents of rabbits that attempted to make this a home and from the looks of it the caved in tunnel was of loose dirt that could easily be moved again if she needed to. Flicking her tail in a kind of excitement she crawled back out then back in when something caught her attention again.
Out of the corner of her eye she saw a shape, a kind of misty shape that she knew just from the small glimpse what it was. It slowly started to form together and the sight puzzled her for a moment. The cat across from her was of the same white pelt as she and bore distant and old but still golden eyes. Unsure of how to make contact she she-cat with the gift of sight remained silent watching the small tom cat take shape with his back against the dirt of the caved in tunnel. His voice was thick and low as he started to speak in greeting. "My name is Whitebelly I am a WindClan warrior, are you to be my apprentice?" His words were steady and warm and instantly Brightpool felt safe in his company. "Um..I'm Brightpool warrior of LightingClan and I don't think I need any training." She mumbled in her usual shy manner, dropping her gaze to look at his paws. Whitebelly however, was going to have any of that and with a odd sensation to the young she-cat he flicked her ear with his tail. Normally she didn't feel the ghost that talked with her but he for some reason did give her a sensation that she knew meant StarClan was behind him being presented to her.
"I wasn't asking your permission young Brightpool, I was given a tangible form in order to tell you the secret of tunneling that have been sadly lost by the decedent of WindClan. You were given the gift of sight so that the proud legacy of WindClan's glory will be alive again with your words and actions. " His voice was rippling with authority and Brightpool felt instantly humbled by his words and nodded silently to him.
"Small cats like you and I were prized members of WindClan because we were the only ones capable to travel in the tunnels that connected our territory... Whitebelly started in a history lesson that was news to Brightpool, she found it interesting and paid attention to every detail that he spoke. She made a good note of how to explain this new tactic to Redstar and how valuable it would be in the terms of hunting.
Time past quickly for the two white cats and it wasn't until the moon light started to filter into the bracken covered tunnel did Brightpool notice how long they had been conversing. Most of her questions had been answered and ideas were forming in her head on how to restart his era, Whitebelly was proud that she was clever and wiling to learn. "My young apprentice, when ever you are unsure of what to do or a new question arises please visit me here at his bracken covered tunnel. This will be our place where the history meets the present and the future is planned. " His final words were spoken before giving a respectful nudge to her shoulder and disappearing in a shroud of mist.
Rising to her paws and feeling the weight of a new task but the honor of being chosen, Brightpool pulled out of the bracken covered tunnel and started for home, knowing her duty to bring back the age of profession as well as securing her new legacy, to Redstar she went.
I see your shadow so I know they're all wrong
Moonlight on the soft brown earth
It leads me to where you lay
