May your kits grow strong and their father be proud."
Falconleap had replayed her talk with Fallingstar many time over the past couple days she had told her she was going to have kits and leave her rank to have them. While Fallingstar said to StarClan she was still to be the deputy and not until Fallingstar made the ceremony would she lose her rank entirely. However, Falconleap felt overly excited to be able to care for her kits in the nursery.
Although she was welcomed in to the nursery and quickly made her nets beside Pryelight and her fairly vocal troop of four young ones, Falconleap felt a certain hostility by one warrior more than others.
While her choice to have kits was frowned on, she didn't truly care it wasn't like she had many friends that would be upset, Pyrelight was excited for the she-cat and that was all Falconleap wanted. Still the taunts coming from Tumblefur threatening that he knew who her mate was, instead of Faloncleap saying it was tom already in a relationship and she didn't wish to make problems.
That lie was the largest she'd ever told and felt awful as if slid off her tongue but everyone accepted it easily beside Tumblefur of course. The remarks and growls the tom gave her was no warning to what he had planned to the queen.
---
"Hello Falconleap. A thick and dark voice woke the queen from her nap. It was Tumblefur and his eyes were narrowed on the she-cat. "Hello Tumblefur, how can I help you?" Falconleap replied curtly, rising up and moving to sit up tall, eyes narrowed. "I was just wondering where the pretty little tribe cat is." He spoke darkly moving closer toward her. "Pyrelight went out, she took her kits into the camp clearing to play in the sun while I napped." She said quickly, eyes darting outside to see the glimpse of sun before Tumblefur's friend stepped in to block her view.
"Oh bad idea Falconleap. Now to make this short and sweet. I'm going to explain to you something. I know you mated with that fish eater and are bringing his mangled offspring into our camp. When they are born I'm going to kill them. You won't even be able to name them." His voice sounded dark and demented, mangled that Falconleap wanted to pretend she didn't hear them.
"Fallingstar won't let you and Pyrelight will be back soon." Falconleap frantically spoke, eyes darting for an exit.
"Kits die all the time in leaf-bare and who will she believe? A mother who just lost her kits that went crazy or a warrior who helped bury them." He hissed, stepping closer, Falconleap felt lost and a harsh kick in her belly, she prayed to StarClan her kit wouldn't come early from stress, not with his monster in the nursery. A cold shiver of dread made the fur along Pyrelight's spine stand straight up in alarm, hazel eyes as round as walnuts in witness to such a brutal promise made by Tumblefur. As a mother of four and as Falconleap's closest friend, the tribe cat felt her blood ignite as though Tumblefur had been the lightning strike to a dried out landscape, having said exactly the right thing that would make a normally peaceable creature like Pyrelight want to rip him to shreds. She didn't have time to wish that Warhawk, magnificent and magnificently furious would bust his way in and drag Tumblefur out kicking and screaming away from Falconleap and her unborn kits. She didn't have time to do anything but run, as fast and as furiously as she could to the RainClan border.
All that time spent in the nursery rather than out being active meant that her breathing grew labored as she cut halfway through the territory, and she still had to reach the StoneClan/RainClan border. Despite this, however, the cinnamon and silver tabby creature streaking across the snow as though her paws were on fire was showing no signs of stopping, jaws parted to gulp in air, flanks heaving with the effort. Sailing over the frozen stone stream, Pyrelight winced as she slipped a little and her back right paw hurt to step on, but she kept going - smacking right into the cat she most wanted to see.
Vultureback dropped the grackle he'd been carrying, stunned to see Falconleap's queen friend - Pyrelight, right? - looking as though Tigerstar himself were chasing after her, out for her blood. "What's wrong? Did the kits come early?" |
Blurted the giant mottled tom, almost as breathless as she was at the thought. Pyrelight shook her head, gulping in air, her lungs stinging in her chest. "F-Falconleap -- Tumblefur -- Nursery -- gonna kill the kits!" Dangerously close to passing out, Pyrelight blinked the spots from her eyes, and it took the burnt out she-cat a moment to realize Vultureback had jumped over her as he made to bolt to the StoneClan border. "W-wait!" Pyrelight choked out, only able to stop him in his tracks by her next words, "There are three of them - you can't..."Vultureback swung around to face her again, and the look of violent conviction and worry in his eyes was enough to make her stomach clench too tight, but this raw hate wasn't focused towards her. Rather, he almost seemed to not hear her, forgetting to say thank you as he spied another RainClan cat - a tom, Tideripple, he believed - and nearly bowled over the other warrior in his efforts to confront him. "I need your help. My mate is the StoneClan deputy Falconleap, and Tumblefur is holding her hostage, threatening to kill our kits. I can't fight them off alone." Though this was likely to be one heavy bit of news to drop on a fellow Clanmate, Vultureback didn't have time to argue, time to care that this changed so much, he scarcely had time to listen to Tideripple's answer, a hundred horror scenes all playing out in his head for every second he wasted still on RainClan soil. Don't worry Falconleap, I'm coming.[/style] [STYLE=font-family: arial black; letter-spacing: -2px; font-size: 25px; color: F4A460; letter-spacing: -2px; -webkit-transform: rotate(90deg); -moz-transform: rotate(90deg); -o-transform: rotate(90deg); margin-right: -450px; margin-top: -70px;]StoneClan ~ Queen ~ Mother of Four [/style]

[STYLE=font-size: 10px; color: ffffff; text-align: right;]made by jelliebean of btn[/style]

FALCONLEAP Panic was clear in the she-cat eyes but her face was stern, a noble queen with her head held high. "You won't get away with this, I was once your deputy and with StarClanas my witness you will all pay for this treason." She growled her shoulder tense for a moment, her eyes stern.
[/blockquote] TIDERIPPLE The silver tom's eyes grew in shock as he accepted everything the elder warrior told him. Dropping the pitiful mouse he had caught awhile back he flicked his tail and nodded. "I know what it's like to have a mate, while I don't like how it happened and that it's with StoneClan, but I'll help you none the less. " He meowed quickly before taking a short lead and crossing the border. He saw a she-cat who seemed to be panting for breath and greeted her, from her scent she was of StoneClan and the milky smell of a nursery reminded him of his mate. "Lead the way." He spoke, his voice a comfort but his eyes stern.
"Can I at least make dirt?" Falconleap growled, her tail flicking angrily as her captives held her still in the depths of the nursery. Tumblefur hissed but nodded and ordered his goons out of the nursery but as Falconleap exited the warm den to seek out a place to make dirt she felt the unwanted presence of Tumblefur on her back, her claws however were extended waiting for a moment to attack.

Vultureback could argue the morals behind he and Falconleap's relationship later - right now they had to save her or else there wasn't going to BE a relationship to argue over. With that lighting a fire beneath his paws, it took every fiber of Vultureback's being not to bark at Pyrelight as she stumbled to her paws again, his brain somehow short-circuiting and forgetting to be sympathetic over the fact that she'd ran here without stopping to warn them.
Even more aware of the danger Tumblefur and his gang of followers posed to her best friend, Pyrelight shoved aside the urge to vomit and surged onwards, her jaws clamped tight, her throat resisted for fear of actually depositing the meager contents of her stomach as she started to run again. Vultureback would have to remind himself to thank her in earnest later, but for now the mottled tom was only focused on tearing through snow and ice and StoneClan terrain to reach the cat he loved.
The journey was quick, even with Pyrelight running on desperate fumes, the she-cat sputtering to a weak stop on the outside of camp, a protective circle of dense undergrowth and stones marking StoneClan's place of residence. "There's a back way into camp - by the dirtplace, you'll smell it before you see it," she wheezed, her mouth painfully dry, so she lapped at the snow to help sooth her burning throat.
Vultureback nodded, flicked his tail for Tideripple to follow. It didn't take him long to scent the necessary side entrance, or the she-cat making her way over to the dirtplace, his heart jumping into his ears at the sight of her and their enemy skulking behind her. Claws unsheathed, Vultureback had the good sense not to bust into the middle of StoneClan's camp and start raising hell - they had to get Falconleap out of camp, as there was no doubt in the tom's mind that StoneClan would rise up to defend Tumblefur from him in a heartbeat, before he or Falconleap got the chance to explain Tumblefur's treachery.
Trying to catch Falconleap's eye from his hiding place behind the rocks without alerting Tumblefur too was a lot harder than he'd anticipated, and the urge to shout out her name kept trying to claw it's way up her throat.
Pyrelight, on the other hand, had more or less fainted into the snow, flanks heaving from the effort it had taken her to run, without break, from StoneClan all the way to RainClan and back the same way she'd come.

"Can You at least turn around for me to do my business?" She spat darkly, flicking her tail and glaring at him, but a grunt he turned around and looked away, but his ears were perked in chase she tried to run with her large belly.
Walking a distance but stopped when he growled for her not to move any further, she started to dig a dirt hole but the heart warming scent of Vultureback filled her heart and soul. Looking around she scanned the mixture of rocks and brush for his eyes and there in the growing dusk of day he was there, but the other set of eyes and new scent was unsettling and she worried, but if he was with Vultureback she'd have to trust him.
Taking a deep breath she mouthed the words, "Take him down" to the warrior and company that would rescue her.
Tideripple on the other side of that bush and rocks was looking for a mauling. He didn't need a full explanation just yet, it was clear that the tom was thread to Vultureback's family and if Brighteyes had been a NightClan she-cat and his mate he'd go to sun-down-place to save her any time of day. Also with his darling daughter Murkykit on an even higher notch in his heart, Tideripple knew that if any harm came to her he'd be more of a threat then a starving badger.
The deputy of StoneClan which Tideripple now assumed was no longer holding the rank with her current condition with wiggling kits in her large belly. "I'll lead her away, you take that large brute. I can lead her at her own pace back to the border while he chase him. I don't recommend chasing him into camp. I'll be waiting for you at the border with her. However, I won't take her to camp just yet. You can lose your fur with Sandstar on your own. " He spoke softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
Making eye contact with the she-cat he edge himself closer and a little to the side, trying to direct her toward him so when the attack started he'd be able to call out to her and help her get out.

I'll be waiting for you at the border with her. However, I won't take her to camp just yet. You can lose your fur with Sandstar on your own. "
The intelligent words of Tideripple warranted a nod from the mottled warrior, his eyes never leaving Tumblefur's back as though he could burn holes through the despicable tom without having to actually lay a claw on him. "Thank you, for everything."
Mewed Vultureback quietly, his tone low but by no means insincere. Vultureback was not used to asking for help; in fact, he NEVER did, preferring to dig his own grave and lie in it, no matter the consequences. But then again, this was a situation where his life wasn't on the line, it was Falconleap's and his unborn kittens. He would do anything to protect them, lay down his pride, give up his dignity, anything. Just as Vultureback had prepared to spring into action, a familiar cinnamon-silver tabby she-cat beat him to the punchline, Pyrelight slamming into Tumblefur with enough force to bowl him over, her hazel eyes alight with alarm and battle-glow as the normally pacifist of a cat hissed to her friend; "RUN!"Vultureback had to hand it to her; for a rusty queen who had used up all of her energy running them back to StoneClan, she had a lot of moxie. After sparing a glance to make sure Falconleap had made it towards Tideripple, Vultureback sprang from his cover snarling as though he had all the ire of the dark forest moving within him, and Tumblefur's pelt stood on end as though he'd been struck by lightning. "RUN, you miserable gutless excuse for a cat, or you're going to wish you'd killed me back at the river." Seethed Vultureback, his visage bearlike in it's ferocity had he bore down upon the cat who had tormented his mate, and by default, his unborn kits. I'm gonna shred you limb from limb. And he was. There was something Tumblefur had not seemed to get, back at the nearly completely frozen river. Vultureback could take personal insult, he could take a strike now and again, but you did not insult or harm his family. That was the quickest way to death or a maiming if ever there was one. Despite how much Tumblefur deserved it, Vultureback wouldn't cripple him - just...teach him a lesson. A very painful lesson. The tom ran. Even with his stupid friends approaching from the commotion, Vultureback let out one ragged, guttural snarl and they froze in their tracks, the hulking black-mottled form giving chase and bowling through them as he did so. Trust Tideripple, Falconleap. He's a good cat. I'll deal with this piece of crowfood.[/blockquote]

Tideripple didn't need anymore thanks for the older tom but nodded in acknowledgment, then seemingly out of no where Pyrelight of StoneClan bolted up and attacked the cat by the name of Tumblefur. Tideripple saw his chance and started forward nudging the round queen toward the direction of the border. "I'm Tideripple, I'm helping you escape. Please head toward the border, I'll be right behind you." He meowed quickly, nudging her gently but the round she-cat didn't need anymore prompting.
Her eyes still stunned by the actions of Pyrelight she did as she was told by the silver tom and headed toward the border, praying to StarClan for her kit's safety. The journey which she normally made in a few long stride was painfully long and dreary. Her warrior spirit hadn't lessened since her change of condition in fact it seemed to heightened. She hated being the protected instead of the protector, while she wasn't trying to be spiteful every time the tom called Tideripple asked how she was doing she'd grunt a weak reply and kept her head down.
Tideripple kept his pace steady even if his entire pelt itched to be home with his darling mate, but his loyalty to a cat that like himself had a family kept him close. Flicking his tail he slowed down as his paws reached the border and he quickly crossed, pausing as she stopped herself.
"If I cross this border I'll never go back. Do I want to do that?" She said aloud, Tideripple opened his mouth to answer but stopped, he didn't know what to say. "I can never go back, Tumblefur will tell everyone and I'll just be a traitor. My past is StoneClan and I guess my future is RainClan." She spoke solemnly her heart and words filled with dread.
"You future is with your mate and your family in RainClan, but StoneClan will always be your place of birth, but RainClan is where you kits will be born." Tideripple finally spoke, trying to kindly talk to her, she glanced up at him and nodded crossing the border without looking back.
He lead her to a nice secluded spot where they could wait, Tideripple standing guard for any sign of her mate, the kits in her belly growing restless.
