Tideripple
I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
------------------------------- Tideripple, single and immature tom of RainClan, stomped about the camp before being sent out by an older warrior, complaining for him to get a life and do some duties. He shot back that he already went on a border patrol, wasn't that enough? Much to the older warrior's annoyance, Tideripple slipped out of more duties and heading right for Willow Stream.
This place as an excellent for just swimming and if you had a mate a nice place just to be alone, the willow branches gave great cover, but Tideripple hadn't caught a she-cat fancy and was alright with that, for the time being that is. He came to willow stream in order to swim and just enjoy the feel of water in his pelt.
He came to a willow branch and jumped up easily looking down below him, the water was clear, for that most part and his reflection was seen staring back at him. With a grin toward his reflection, Tideripple released his claws from his purchase on the branch and dove nearly head first into the water, the cold thrill of it forcing a squeak out of his maw. The water was far colder than he expected, but he welcomed to refreshing thrill as he worked out the kinks from his border patrol, he made laps in the cool water enjoying the cool water, just as he made another lap, a scent caught his nose, it was RainClan but his nose wasn't able to pick out who it was just yet.

If she was honest with herself, and she usually was, Brighteyes knew that she should be off hunting or patrolling. But she wasn't. She had hunted earlier and would later go on a border patrol to make up for it. She didn't want to right now; the weather was nice and it made her disinclined to work. It was not to say that she was lazy or looked for ways to not do her job, for rarely she shirked her duties. Yet, of all the places to go with her self-imposed break. Willow Stream, the romantic haunt of couples, where a feline could do nothing but swim and talk. It held little appeal for her, who had no mate and disliked swimming. But her paws had carried her here; perhaps it was the quiet that usually befell the place that appealed to her. The willows also provided a fair amount of privacy.
She slowed from her trot, gently moving between the trees until she reached the shore. The light trickling sound of the stream already filled her ears and its soothing sound made her relax. Knowing that she would be up in a moment but figuring it was worth a shot anyway, Brighteyes settled down on the shore, her forepaws not quite touching the water. Her eyelids fell slightly as she relaxed, and for a moment, she thought that she might actually rest and lay still.
Wait--was that a rock digging into her side? The feline shifted slightly and felt the irritating thing again. It broke the spell. Brighteyes let out a sigh and rolled over onto her back, lazily batting at the air with her paws. Upsidedown, she looked back at her former resting spot, and sure enough, there was that rock. Rolling over again, she rose to her paws and kicked at it, sending it flying into the stream. Brighteyes watched for a moment before attempting to settle down again. Yet it was not to be; soon she found herself on her back again, playing an unfortunate moth that had captured her attention. A splash distracted her and she glanced away; the moth took the chance to escape. Finding it gone, the warrior looked back toward the stream and rolled over onto her stomach. She watched for a moment as the other cat, whom she had recognized as Tideripple, swam laps, amused by his antics.
Rising to her paws, she decided to make her presense known. Her tail flicked and she bounced to the side of the stream. "Hi Tideripple!" She called. "You look like you're having fun. How are you?"

Tideripple
I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
------------------------------- The light grey tom had just dove down in the water, using his claws to dug up a pretty rock. It shone in the light it was a seemly boring grey color but tilted just right a little specks of others rocks were dug into it, making it shimmer just a little and from the looks of it would do beautifully in a den. He was prepared to dive again when his name was called, stifling a flinch, he was used to having his name called if he was in trouble.
Turning in the water her saw Brighteyes, a charming and younger she-cat his eyes lite up, not just for her but for the company of someone that didn't need to ride him all the time. So what if he didn't go on twenty border patrols, he needed to relax to! Brighteyes might be more determined than he was but she was bubbly, an exciting she-cat to be around, always joyful in her pursuits.
"Oh hello Brighteyes, sorry I didn't see you there" Tideripple remarked kindly, pulling himself out of the water, rolling the rock after him. He was careful with the droplets, he knew that Brighteyes wasn't to keen on the water and didn't want to ruin a possible budding friendship because he got her wet. He heading toward her, stepping in the water to sit across from her. Tideripple welcomed to chill of the water on his pelt and didn't flinch as he looked toward her warmly, the little stone he found back toward a tree branch, he made a mental note to get it later.
"So what is a pretty thing like you doing out here alone?" Tideripple meowed but flicked his tail in his own stupidity, normally he didn't mind that his brain and mouth didn't run on a filter but right now would be the only time he wished it had.

"It's no problem, really," Brighteyes reassured the tom, watching as he climbed from the water and onto the other shore. "I was really quiet." She stepped back to avoid the water dripping from his fur, though she knew that a few drops of water wouldn't kill her. Appreciate bubbled up in her chest when she noticed that Tideripple was being careful with his soaking gray fur, when most others might not have given her distaste for water a second thought. She snorted at that thought: a RainClan cat who didn't really like water; it was like a LightningClan cat who hated being out in the open. Completely unthinkable. Yet there she was, defying common sense...
Brighteyes had settled down again, making sure to avoid the pointy rock, when Tideripple crossed the stream and sat in front of her. She appreciated the older tom's company and found his personality both refreshing and reassuring. Other warriors seemed weathered and weary, as though they lost all of their energy the older they became. Tideripple, on the other hand, had retained his, and it was the same kind of happy, bubbly energy that she had. It was reassuring to have proof that it did not go away and she wouldn't become a grumpy old warrior who needed to relax.
To say his words did not surprise her would be a surprise, especially the flirtatious side of them, but she found that she did not mind. She could feel blood rushing to her face, and underneath her fur, she was no doubt very red. She glanced away quickly, self-consciously. Stalling slightly, she smiled at him, giving a quiet, "Thank you," in response. How could she respond to that? The same way, of course. "Why, fishing for handsome toms, such as yourself," Brighteyes returned, a purr touching her words, her lips spread in a grin. After pausing for a moment, she answered the question truthfully, "I'm just relaxing, taking a break from patrolling and hunting. What about you? Did you just come here for a swim?"

Tideripple
I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
------------------------------- Tideripple was amazed, never in his life had she-cat so openly flirted back with him! Don't get him wrong, he had flirted with a few she-cat possibly got one to like him but he never knew, they never seemed to show interested which normally put him out and lead him to just letting that pursuit die, but now with Brighteyes was happily returning with her own flirty banter, he felt the color rise in his pelt and a flush cover his face.
He thought about the rock just beside the branch and thought about giving it to young Brighteyes, but he stopped himself, what if she was just being friendly? He shrugged the thought of the rock out of his head and looked back her happily, a purr leaving his maw as he heard her own feminine purr.
She answered his question truthfully this time as he nodded in total understands. "I know the feeling that's why I left to swim" He answered her question with a flick of his tail toward the deeper part of the swimming hole. Already his fur was starting to dry, with the careful breeding so well thought into RainClan by StarClan themselves. His dense fur which oils prevented water from retaining he felt his own body heat warm the cold tips of water away from him.
"I actually come here to swim a lot, normally to just get away. Sometimes I just feel so confined in the camp. He confessed shamefully, looking down his eyes starting at the rocks below the water, his reflection muddled by the ripples in the water, he didn't have anything else to say, he just confessed he was tired of Clan life.

Blue eyes followed the direction of the tom's gray tail, landing upon a deeper part of the stream. She nodded slightly. "Smart of you, I think, to come here." Her tone was light as she complimented him. "My experience leads me to believe that this place is often vacated, for it has gained the reputation of becoming a lover's haunt. And really, no cat in their right mind wants to watch that." She made an exaggerated disgusted expression, crinkling up her face and sticking out her tongue. Of course, swimming here did not come without the risk of running into a couple, and creating a potentially awkward situation.
But, Brighteyes thought as she cast her gaze around at the surrounding willows, for moments of peace and quiet like these, it was well worth the risk. The trickle of the stream added another relaxing feature to the area, a steady, soothing sounds that could probably put the toughest of warriors to sleep. Just listening to it now put her in a relaxed daze, and she was no where near the 'toughest of warriors' mark... Really, she probably shouldn't fall asleep on Tideripple; it was impolite.
Blinking and shaking her head slightly, Brighteyes gathered her wandering thoughts and brought her attention back to the older warrior, just in time to catch the tail end of his words. Something about being confined in camp...? "Uhh.. yeah," She answered lamely, hoping she didn't sound like she didn't care what he had said. Truthfully, she did, but she had gotten caught up in her thoughts. She gave him a sheepish, apologetic shrug, tail flicking nervously. Hopefully her lapse in attention wouldn't be thought an insult.
In the silence that followed, she thought back to his words. The wording itself struck her as odd, but she thought that she understood the general meaning. RainClan's camp did occasionally become too crowded, and it was nice to have a place like this to retreat to. Attempting to make another shot at conversation, Brighteyes meowed softly, "How are you today, Tideripple? Besides tired of being in a crowded camp." The question was rather abruptly asked, cutting into the silence that had fallen, previously broken only by the sound of the stream.

------------------------------- Tideripple's eyes dropped, she didn't understand plain as day she didn't put two and two together. He hid his sigh rather easily and got out of the water to sit beside her, she remarked how Willow Stream was a lover's nest. He flushed looking down to his paws, he it was true once or twice he tried to woo a she-cat but never with much success.
He looked to Brighteyes and caught a little sparkle in them but didn't act on it, she just seemed friendly toward him. After all she was younger than him, not that it was an issue and he himself was immature, shrugging rather noticeably he looked out ahead of him, looking to the willow branches touching the water at a distances.
"Well besides heading out of camp, nothing new has happened." He said casually, flicking his tail playfully over her shoulder. "Have you ever wanted to just walk away? See what life is like outside of the borders? Are there more Clans?" Tideripple said aloud, lazily rolling on to his side, batting at the sky above him. He purred happily and looked side ways to Brighteyes.

Ever wanted to just walk away...? Brighteyes rose to her paws and moved to the edge of the stream, looking in for a moment, before ducking her head and lapping up some water. Tideripple is full of strange comments today. Her tail flicked and she lifted her head again, licking up the droplets dripping from her maw. Returning to her previous place, the she-cat glanced at him before answering, "Well I guess I've wondered what life is like outside of the border, but everyone does, don't they? At least once in their life... And it would be interesting to see if there were any more clans, I agree; see if they're anything like ours."
Amused, Brighteyes watched as Tideripple rolled over and batted at the sky with his paws, so much like a kit. Her lips curved up into another gentle smile. RainClan had quite a few kits; it was refreshing to see the new life and know that new warriors were already in the making. But to walk away? From this? Tideripple's previous comment rolled around in her head. Did he mean to leave the clan? Surely not; who would want to leave this life? The potential for a family, healthy kits, strong warriors, plenty of prey: what more could he want?
She glanced sideways at him. Was he really thinking of walking away? "Are you feeling alright, Tideripple?" Brighteyes asked, more than slightly worried. "You know that you're needed here, right?"

Tideripple
I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
------------------------------- Tideripple relaxed more, taking everything Brighteyes said into consideration. She had a point, no matter where he went there were things he had to do here. Kits weren't able to hunt for themselves, neither were elders he owed it to his uncle's memory to stick it out, get over his slump of seeking what's beyond the borders. It was far to childish even by Tideripple's standards. He purred in contentment as his paws went lax, folding to were this paws tickled his belly, the tom had banished all thought of venturing to far from home.
His pale eyes drifted close but were happily brought back as heard Brighteyes ask about him, his maw opened in a yawn as he nodded. Rolling over to his side, he sat up a little, looking at her kindly. "I'm fine I swear" He purred, flicking his tail playfully in her face before, pushing himself to sit up.
"Has anyone ever told you how pretty you are?" Tideripple said boldly, a flush covering his cheeks as he looked down quickly, heart racing a little. How could he just say that?!

A purr escaped Brighteyes - not that she did much to prevent it - at Tideripple's reply. Really, what had she been worrying about? Of course the other tom would stay; he was happy here, and he was needed. She brushed away the small doubts that still lingered in the back of her mind, just as the warrior shifted and batted her on the nose with his tail. Surprised, she blinked and sneezed, the action rattling her whole body. That was a surprisingly powerful sneeze, She mused, rolling over onto her back, batting at the air, before pushing herself up into a sitting position as well, facing her companion. Her tail flicked lightly, and she resisted the urge to bop him on the nose in return.
Concentrated as she was on resisting the rather immature want that had gripped her, Tideripple's voice surprised her. She jumped slightly, eyes snapping from his nose to take in the rest of his face. Did.. did he just compliment me? A warm feeling spread through Brighteyes, starting as a heat in her face and travelling quickly down to the tip of her tail. Her surprised expression changed to a large smile. "Well, no, actually," She mewed quietly, voice small. No longer really in control of her actions, she glanced away and scuffing at the ground with a paw. "But thanks, Tideripple," She looked back up at him, "It means a lot." Brighteyes flicked her tail, hesitated, then added, "Especially since a very handsome tom is the one who's complimenting me."
A moment later, she regretted adding that. Had her mind really given her mouth permission to say that? Before, her comment about fishing for toms, had been alright. They'd been joking, for the most part. But now... now it was more meaningful. Even she could sense the change in mood. And what was this warm feeling that would not go away? It caused her heart to race and strained her nerves. She found that she didn't mind it though, even if Brighteyes couldn't place it.

Tideripple
I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
-------------------------------
The sneeze that came over Brighteyes brought a chuckle to the tom as his maw widen in a smile and his eyes brightened, a purr fallowing not to far after. He watched her not in a awkward or creepy kind of way but in a content and amused way. He found it difficult not to compliment her and as she confessed that no one had told her she was pretty he was shocked! In Tideripple's eyes someone would have to be near blind to not see the beauty in Brighteyes's appearance.
"Especially since a very handsome tom is the one who's complimenting me."
Tideripple, froze briefly and his eyes dropped to the ground, his ears flicking in embarrassment, his cheeks flushed. Words tried to from in his mouth but he didn't know what to say, there were just a jumbled mess and he wasn't about to try and say anything without thinking it through more, he didn't want to look like a fool. In a childish way, Tideripple remained silent, eyes glued down looking at his paws as he pushed them in the dirt, making deeper paw-print.
After a good while of silence, Tideripple slowly rose his head up to look at Brighteyes, as he made brief eye contact with her his heart raced, even faster than he had when she told him he was handsome. He looked to his side down, to the willow stream and rose up to his paws. He turn slowly and headed over to the stone he had found in the stream before Brighteyes found him. Picking it up slowly in his jaw he was careful not to let his tongue touch the rock as he carried it back, placing it Brighteye's paws.
"I want you to have it" Tideripple said softly, a purr heading his words for him. The rock at her paws had dried but was still a very pretty blue color. "The rock remind me of your eyes, how pretty they are so I thought you could put it in your nest..or something" Tideripple said a cute shyness over coming him as he looked down at the rock, his paws moving in the dirt again, making deeper impressions.

Tideripple's reaction to her compliment almost redeemed her disobediant mouth. Indeed, it made him all the more enjoyable in her eyes; it reminded Brighteyes most of a young apprentice, shy and speechless. A small smile touched her lips as she watched him fight for words, thinking him completely adorable. Her tail tip flicked lightly as blue eyes remained locked on his face, which steadily stared down at his paws. Since he seemed reluctant to look up and meet her eyes, Brighteyes used this time to watch him and attempt to sort out her own thoughts about him.
To say that he was not a handsome tom would be a lie, she decided, knowing that she had been truthful with her words. She enjoyed his company, certainly, especially his rather kit-like traits. It was nice and refreshing compared to the other, more serious warriors in RainClan. They got along very nicely, and she generally appreciated what he had to say. And he complimented me. Her small smile spread into a full out grin.
An action from the subject of her thoughts shook Brighteyes out of her musings. Almost timidly, Tideripple lifted his head and green eyes met warm blue ones before Brighteyes glanced away. The foolish smile on her face would not go away. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the tom get up and move away. Afraid she had done something to chase him off, Brighteyes started to rise too, an apology on her lips.
However, she needn't have worried, for soon Tideripple returned, a blue stone held carefully in his jaws. Curious, she watched as he placed it gently at her paws, eyes following its path before snapping up to watch his green ones. She did not have to wait long for an explanation. His answer to her unasked question made her blush again, and her eyes quickly fell to the blue stone. It was a nice thought, and she loved the beautiful stone. "Thank you, Tideripple," She mewed softly, a purr lacing her words. "I-- I-- It's beautiful, and it will look absolutely lovely in my nest. All the other she-cats will be jealous."
Slowly, she raised her gaze, walking her eyes up from the stone, to his paws, and eventually recently reaching his face. A small, shy smile touched her lips and a purr escaped. "It means a lot to me, really." Her voice was sincere. "I- I don't know what to say." She gave a little giggle. "Really, it means a lot, so thank you." Pausing a moment, she moved forward, intending to touch noses with him.

Tideripple
I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
------------------------------- She liked it!
Tideripple flushed and returned her purr with his own deeper one, a smile not only filled out his face but warmed his heart. A sense of pride filled his frame as she made the comment how other she-cats would be jealous of his stone that he gave her. After all that was the point of having someone to care about right? Make everyone wish you were them, thats how he understood it from his mother all those nights she spoke fondly of her loner mate, but at the same time he knew from her voice how empty she was, even with him her her life, she missed her mate dearly.
Tideripple nodded as she thanked him again, moving to almost touch noses with him, Tideripple's eyes widened in joy, extending his own nose to gently press against her, reassuring her that he wasn't just being coy, he genuinely wanted to see her happy. Her coolness of her nose didn't make him shiver but warmed his heart, it warmed him in a different way, but he enjoyed it just the same.
As they moved apart he looked at her bright eyes and smiled, this canine teeth showing a little, a dorky smile on his face. However a little sadness fallowed into his heart, what if one day she was gone? Tideripple felt a sad cloud cover him, he tired to force it away but it lingered just at the edge of his mind. The more time he spent with Brighteyes the more he wanted to see her safe, well protected in the camp, plump on her side with three little kits, wait did he just think of her with his kits?! Tideripple ears warmed again, thinking of Brighteyes calling for him from within the nursery, two or more little bundles nuzzled to suckle, he knew he would be a fun father, but at the same time he knew that he would have to be a better warrior, step up to the plate more, he mentally made a note of that. The thought of Brighteyes as the mother of his kits still lingered, moving the dark cloud out more as he finally made a connection to react to her words.
"I'm glad you like it" Words finally left Tideripples, lips as he gave another dorky grin. "I'd really like to decorate your nest, if you'd let me, make all the she-cat jealous that you have someone that wants to see you happy, like I do Brighteyes. " He spoke the last part a little softer, another bout of shyness over coming him, part of him wanted to ask if she'd be his mate or at least think about it, but the part that won was to mouse-brained to ask.

He followed through with the silent request, and the touch of his nose made warmth flow through her. Sometimes actions spoke louder than words, and really, Brighteyes could not express what the gift meant to her. Partially because she did not know exactly what it meant to her herself. She could barely sort out her flying emotions and thoughts; they leapt from idea to idea like squirrels leaping from branch to branch. Brighteyes found it hard to keep track of them. But she was sure of the warmth that spread through her whenever Tideripple spoke, or what had just happened with their touching noses.
Both moved away, Brighteyes letting out a little sigh. How could she express the warmth that spread through her to him when she could not even explain it to herself? It was happiness, fondness, contentment, and so much more, all mixed into one thing. One indescribable feeling. Almost anything could happen, and she would still be content. Blue eyes found the smile on his face, and she knew that her expression must mimic his lopsided grin. A laugh escaped her of its own free will. The simple pleasures of life. Who would think that such contentment could come from the company of another cat? Her heart went out to those who could not or did not appreciate this. Those unfortunate felines had no idea of what they were missing.
And the rest of the clan. Brighteyes was not oblivious to the rest of RainClan's opinion of the tom, even if she paid it no mind. They thought him lazy, immature, and a general pain. Yet they did not bother to look further and see the kind tom, did not care enough to make an attempt to change their opinion of him. It saddened her as well; RainClan seemed oblivious to the amazing tom they had in their ranks.
Words, not her's, broke the peaceful silence that had fallen between them in the wake of their touching noses. The grin remained as strong as ever, and a soft purr escaped her. "I would love for you to decorate my nest," Brighteyes encouraged, but added a teasing, "Just watch the number of rocks. Those little things can get hard if they pile up; there's a reason we use moss when we can get it." She paused, then grew more serious again,"You know that I would like to see you happy, too. RainClan, I think, does not realize how good of a cat you are; I've seen what they think of you. But..." Here she hesitated, tail flicking, before pushing through, "But just know that I do realize this. So you're not alone, even if it seems like all of the other warriors do nothing but complain. I'm here, and I care about your happiness."
let it take you over

Tideripple
I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
------------------------------- She was warm, Tideripple wanted nothing more but to bask in her sunny features. Her charming bright eyes, the smile on her face the life within her entire being. She was the little spark that coursed in his body, mentally he made promise, no a vow to Brighteyes. Even if she didn't know it, Tideripple was going to be a better warrior for her and only her. She had faith in him, which he hadn't seen since his uncle past away, she was his muse, that's what he needed.
A chuckle left his maw as she joked about the rocks and the moss, he thought about finding her a feather or two maybe even venturing to the border with NightClan or possibly asking his new friend Fawnchaser to bring him a feather from one of those StoneClan birds. He was making a list of things to get her when she spoke again, his time her words hit his heart, not in a painful way but it stung, but he didn't blame her.
He was unwanted in his own clan. No one liked him they did when his uncle was alive, after all his was the leader, but now without his mentor and closest friend he had no one to stand up for him. Part of him wanted to change but he enjoyed the free style life, maybe there was a middle ground, but he would have to find that on his own soon.
However Brighteyes tried to fix the hurt by saying she carried for his happiness, a smile broke across Tideripple, however this smile was a little weary and slightly off, no really warm anymore. He looked down then back up at her, the vow he made growing stronger. He slowly glanced up to the sky, the time had changed and it hit him! He had to meet Redpaw, with a nod of his head he nuzzled her cheek. "I need to meet Redpaw, we should meet again soon, good bye Brighteyes" He spoke quickly, licking her ear softly before heading off, sprinting back toward the camp.

I promise I won't change So you better give up
