EVERYBODY'S WAITING FOR YOU TO BREAK DOWN
Moonlight cascaded down across the sandy tabby pelt of the StoneClan deputy, Falconleap. She kept her pace quick as she traveled down the border, fallowing her nose and her ears from the sounds of Stone Stream, a well known border between StoneClan and their rivals RainClan. That morning, Falconleap had patrolled this border with some of her clanmates, care to mare them with just a few hints of StoneClan's scent on the dividing rocks in the middle. They weren't the best when it came to holding a scent, but Falconleap had tired her luck. With leaf-bare coming she wanted her warriors fat and plump, what better way then to have a little access to fish. It wasn't a StoneClan's choice meal but hopefully if she caught one someone would eat it, after all it was a meal. Now the task was to in fact catch the mouse-brain fish.
The cool night air fueled her blood as she found a place. The border she had moved slightly, not a lot to alert RainClan she hoped and as she peered down below her, she felt her heart quicken. Fish darted around, night-time fishing would be difficult, but the brightness of the nearly full moon she was able to catch a few glimpse of silvers from the back of the fish. Laying down she felt the water from the side of the small stream travel upward toward her pelt and wet her fur. A sharp hiss traveled out of her maw as she glared down at the water, she however didn't move to far away from it, trying to get her body used to the cool liquid in her fur. "I guess, if you want a fish you gotta act like a fish" She said with a growl, looking down at the silver fish, she laid there in silence.

He loved the night. With his black pelt, the darkness made him nearly invisible as he stalked through the undergrowth towards the gurgling sound of the Stone Stream. It was a well-known border between his own clan, Rainclan, and an opposing clan, Stoneclan. When his warriors reported back to him at the evening patrol, he decided to wait until the cover of night and go out himself to see what in Starclan's name was going on.
Completely silent, Deadstar paused to sniff the air. Yes... the border had certainly been moved. His twisted jaw turned up in a snarl, but he made no sound, only continued to slink toward the stream. When he got there, nothing moved. It was like he was walking in a dream. Glancing up at the bright stars, he knew Starclan was watching, protecting him.
The leader chose a perch on a rock outcropping. Laying as still as if he were dead, Deadstar watched the creek for movement. Finally, after he had been there perhaps half an hour, a she-cat emerged from Stoneclan's territory. Deadstar watched carefully, and was moderately surprised to recognize the Stoneclan deputy. What was she doing, trying to catch fish in Rainclan territory? "My, my, my," He growled, leaping down off of the rock and landing in front of Falconleap. "When my warriors told me the border had been moved, the Stoneclan deputy trying her paw at fishing was the last thing I expected."

EVERYBODY'S WAITING FOR YOU TO BREAK DOWN Falconleap studied the water even more, she hadn't even attempted to hunt the fish. She was lost in her own thoughts, she studied the stream before her, the fish swimming back and forth drifted her into a kind of trance, where she pondered her life. Eagleflight her own brother, whom seemed to lazy to do much had laughed at her the other day, she was caught playing with a few kits. He remarked playfully that she'd better enjoy those kits because she'd never have her own. He comment wasn't hurtful but she froze and quickly went on a hunting patrol, trying to erase the comment from her head.
Now as she sat looking at the stream, her thoughts wandered to rather more sad thoughts, of the lack of family or eve the laugh she'd have from a tom. She forgot all about her fishing attempt and as she was just about to get up she heard a voice.
"My my my "
Falconleap's eyes shot up, locking on the dark pelt of RainClan, she cursed herself for not paying attention to the scent around her, she was going to be in a load of trouble. As drank in his scent, matching his scent with her memory it was Deadsta! Her eyes widened, as her heart quickened.
"When my warriors told me the border had been moved, the Stoneclan deputy trying her paw at fishing was the last thing I expected."
As he landed in front of her, she quickly pushed back into a sitting position, hackles raised in a defensive manner. Deadstar had nine lives to lose, sure enough he'd risk one sending her half dead back to her camp, after all she was almost trespassing, but she briefly studied him and decided to press her luck.
"Well, I'd like to say I'm full of surprises." She remarked coyly standing up, she was just an inch shorter than him, which was remarkable she noted that about him.
"I won't lie, I moved the border to a middle rock to split the stream in half. I came here to see if I could fish, I'm not very good at it I'm sure you can tell" Falconleap meowed honestly and somewhat rather blunt.
"So your move now Deadstar" She growled to him, her eyes narrowed on him, her heart thumping loudly in her ears and her paws itching to either flee or defend herself, everything was going to be left on his line right now.

She bristled, as was expected. After all, he was a leader of one of the five clans, and she was but a deputy... she had not been granted nine lives by Starclan themselves. One day she would, perhaps, but Stoneclan's leader was healthy, as far as Deadstar knew, and Falconleap was rather stupid, as far as he could tell, moving the border like that... she'd likely be killed before she ever became leader.
So, she had moved the border to a rock in the middle of the stream to split it in half, had she? Why, he wondered? Stoneclan had plenty of prey, they didn't need to be stealing from Rainclan. "A kit could fish better than you do," he commented harshly. "Why do Stoneclan need fish to begin with? Your territory is rich with prey. I see no need for you to encroach onto Rainclan's territory." His calm, low voice had escalated into a growl.
"My move, Falconleap?"
The leader moved suddenly, his dark paw shooting into the water and splashing up a wriggling fish onto the shore. Picking it up, he dropped it at the deputy's paws before running his entire body along her side, purring. "Take the fish and get off my territory, Falconleap. Don't come back, or next time I send you home dead. I'll be sure the border is replaced, and you should do so as well." Surprisingly, his voice remained a purr. What game was he playing at?

EVERYBODY'S WAITING FOR YOU TO BREAK DOWN
"A kit could fish better than you do"
His comment was harsh and forced a slight almost minuscule flinch out of her, which surprised her. Not even her mentor had made her flinch with just his words, Deadstar had away about him he struck fear into her but at the same he stuck a respect. He wouldn't kill her, if was going to she'd already be meeting her dead parents in StarClan. In fact right now standing across from him he wasn't a threat, sure he would be stronger than her and could kill her but he wasn't posing that threat now.
Why do StoneClan need fish to begin with? Your territory is rich with prey. I see no need for you to encroach onto RainClan territory." His voice had changed, from his normal calm tone to a growl, her hackles rose again this time her lip curled in a silent snarl. Her teeth shone a beautiful white in reflection of the moon as she eased her claws out of her paw, gaining the protection of the possibly traction needed if she had to flee, she could out run him, she knew that, he was a swimmer she was a runner and a jumper. She'd be able carry herself out quickly and possibly crawl up a few rocks to hide from him he decided to pursue her.
"My move, Falconleap?"
That simple statement, froze the blood in her veins. Everything was static now, her heart rate was even higher, the flight or fight response was kicking into high drive she was prepared to fun if he attacked. She flinched again, the splash forced water onto her paws and forced them away from the sudden coldness of the water. She meowed in surprise and moved a little bit backwards, then Deadstar moved beside her, pressing his fur against her's the heat coming from his body warmed her she didn't realize just how cold she was until he brushed past her, the purring coming from him amazed, she remained frozen in her place.
"Take the fish and get off my territory, Falconleap. Don't make back, or next time I send you home dead. I'll be sure the border is replaced, and you should do so as well."
Those words echoed in her head and brought a soft growl to her throat, she stepped back, away from his warmth and snarled, this time hackles raised and eyes dangerously narrowed.
"What are you playing at? Try and offer me a fish? Threaten to kill me if I come back. Well Deadstar you don't scare me." She shot back at him, her flight or fight slowly turning into fight mood.
"I came here to learn to fish, I want to be able to help my Clan during leaf-bare. You have plenty of streams why not share one?" She growled, slightly lowering herself. "I would rather be ridiculed for learning how to fish then watch my Clan-mates die. You can't blame a deputy for worrying about times ahead. I don't think in the moment I have one life to live! I only have one chance to see my clan thrive. I'd rather die trying" She snarled, taking a step forward, she had already moved away to face him this time her nose almost touching his.
"Kill me if you want, I broke the warrior code but I did it for my Clan! Kill me and send my body back at least I will join the ranks of StarClan as a real warrior! I died protecting my Clan" She growled, her nose flaring in anger, she wasn't one to burst like that and it even surprised her but she wouldn't dare show that, instead she remained where she was, her nose nearly touching his her breathing heavy as she started calm from her out burst. Her eyes drifted just a moment, she felt an admiration toward Deadstar, despite his broken jaw he was handsome in a rugged sort of way, but she flicked her ear to try and kick the thought out of her head, he was the enemy.

She flinched, and his dead, twisted jaw turned up into a smile. He knew he had her on edge. Falconleap was about ready to bolt, and run like a scared little kit back to her rocky expanse of clan territory. He had her absolutely stupified, petrified, horrified... by him. And all it took was three little words.
"What are you playing at? Try and offer me a fish? Threaten to kill me if I come back. Well Deadstar you don't scare me.
Oh, bravado. She was absolutely terrified, and he knew it. "Come now, Falconleap," He purred, pale eyes glinting in the moonlight. "Don't lie. You're about ready to run." She was, however, looking like she was going to make a stand. Fight or flight, it seemed, and she couldn't make up her mind which way she wanted to go.
Her nose almost touching his, he listened to her out burst, purring in amusement. Moving back, he twined his body around hers again, his sleek, sinewey muscles hard and taught, ready to fight if she made a move. "Kill you? I have no desire to kill you. It would break the Warrior Coe. I have no need to kill you. As for your clan, stop worrying, you stupid kit. You know nothing!" His purr turned into a snarl, but he was still running his body against hers, his tail entwined with hers as well.
"Do you know nothing of Starclan? If a cat dies, a cat dies. You stealing prey from Rainclan will do nothing to stop the deaths that may occur in leaf-bare." He stopped, running his head along her side, clearly marking her. After all, she was a pretty she-cat, even if she was from another clan. "Steal from Lightningclan if you must, but stay away from Rainclan territory." |

EVERYBODY'S WAITING FOR YOU TO BREAK DOWN
Come now, Falconleap. Don't lie. You're about ready to run."
That mocking tone brought a louder snarl it was nearly like a battle yowl. Her entire body was was there! She was ready, lunge, bite, scratch, kick and pin. Those battle techniques she learned so many moons ago, started to reply in her head. She pin pointed weak points on him, his face would be a good one, give him a few well earned scratches to match his jaw, a smirk crossed her lips but only lasted a few moments.
Kill you? I have no desire to kill you. It would break the Warrior Code. I have no need to kill you. As for your clan, stop worrying, you stupid kit. You know nothing!"
All her warrior training went out the den, his body was so close to her's it's warmth was welcomed as she relaxed against him, after all she was a she-cat but his snarl rang loud and clear in her ears, her heart picked up again, this time she matched his deep snarl with her own feminine one. She didn't move from her spot but she kept her eyes on him, flicking her tail away as he tired to entwine his with her's. She was still working out the best way to attack, it wasn't the smartest idea but she was tired of being mocked by him she was sick of it!
"Do you know nothing of StarClan? If a cat dies, a cat dies. You stealing prey from RainClan will do nothing to stop the deaths that may occur in leaf-bare."
He had a point, but she wouldn't dare let him have the satifaction of knowing he got to her, she wouldn't dare falter she would die trying to keep her clan alive. If she died it would be one less mouth to feed, it benefited the clan in a more depressing way but she accepted that.
"Steal from LightingClan if you must, but stay away from RainClan territory" The snarl turned to a growl, his head pressed against her fur, marking her clearing she had enough! Spinning almost on a hair point, she lashed out, however her claws remained retracted her paws. She went for his face and went with him, using her body weight to push him down, she pinned him but only briefly. Shock covered her face, she had him where she wanted! She could take him out, stop the mocking but she couldn't do it, she was a cat of her word and she at her warrior ceremony she vowed to uphold the code. She broke one law tonight and wasn't planning on breaking another.
Quickly it was nearly a blink she moved away from him, back stepping till her hind paws splashed in the water, her back facing RainClan territory.
"You don't just do that!" She shouted, her voice a little shaken and deep down she cursed herself. She enjoyed his touch, it was welcome he was strong and noble, an ideal leader and tom. She shook the thought from her head and snarled again, her green eyes bright in anger not only for him but toward herself. It wasn't right for him to be so closer to her, he should have skinned her alive already, not toying with her.
"You can make fun of me all you want! I won't back down! I will ensure my Clan survives, even if that mean I learn how to fish. It's not hard for RainClan to share, just one stream, besides your clan is the only one always the fattest during leaf-bare" She snapped harshly, taking another step backwards, but she knew she was trapped, it scared part of her, but another part was thrilled, after all never in her life has a tom acted that way toward her, she was tempted to ignore the first code, just for this time.

Falconleap nearly let out a battle cry in her frustration, and Deadstar purred in satisfaction. He was toying with her, playing with her, and she was like a mouse in his paws, being batted around until she reacted just the way he wanted her to react.
Truth be told, the Rainclan leader was hardly ever this cruel to another cat, nor was he as cunning or manipulative. Something about Falconleap, though… it brought out the darker side of him, the side that he rarely let anyone see. The smirk across the Deputy's lips drew his attention, and he waited for what was to come. Surely, she would attack him?
Oh, but wait… her feminine side was showing. She relaxed against him, almost pressing against his dark pelt, but at his snarl she panicked again, echoing his growl with one of her own. She flicked her tail away, and Deadstar smirked, glad to know she was regaining her senses. The attack would come. He knew it. He couldn't keep mocking her without provoking some sort of response. He was like a thorn in her side… eventually she would need to drive it out.
And then it happened. Falconleap turned sharply, her paw darting out to smack his face. Her claws were retracted, but Deadstar wasn't quick enough anyway. The blow connected solidly with the side of his head, and the Deputy followed up with her momentary advantage, moving with him and using her lighter body to push him while he was unbalanced, effectively pinning him to the ground. The Rainclan leader's initial thought was to snarl, to react, to fight, but Falconleap was already moving away.
Deadstar began to laugh.
As Falconleap's hind paws reached the stream, she shouted. Deadstar knew he should probably get up, but instead he remained prone, watching the she-cat from slitted eyes. Her voice sounded a bit shaky to him, and he knew exactly what had caused it. His dull, pale yellow eyes stared at Falconleap's over-bright green eyes, and where she displayed anger, he displayed… indifference? No, there was a spark there, but it was difficult to tell what it was…
"You can make fun of me all you want! I won't back down! I will ensure my Clan survives, even if that mean I learn how to fish. It's not hard for RainClan to share, just one stream, besides your clan is the only one always the fattest during leaf-bare"
Deadstar rolled his eyes. She-cats! Exasperating, every one of them! Rolling to his feet, his muscles rippling under his dark fur, the leader meandered slowly down to the stream. "I will not allow you to steal prey from my clan," he hissed, eyes narrowing. If she tried… well, she was in for a surprise.

EVERYBODY'S WAITING FOR YOU TO BREAK DOWN Falconleap eyes narrowed on the seeming relaxed body of Deadstar, her lip in a snarl as she studied him, then it hit her she was being played. A frustrated shiver went through her body, forcing her claws out, scrapping the stones beneath her paws the water no longer cooling her raging blood. Anger fueled her, made her sharp, calculating, deadly.
That expression he gave her was the same one she watched countless cats subconsciously express when hunting a mice or some other prey animal. Falconleap had enough! She wasn't going to be prey to Deadstar's manipulation, she was deputy for StarClan's sake!
He rose to his paws, all muscle and strength, but still tom. Her eyes narrowed to slit now, she wasn't going to play his game, she was going to play him. Mustering up all her femininity, Falconleap made the cool transition from hard deputy to seductive she-cat.
His hiss forced a slight reaction, just one strong enough to fake her submission. With her eyes down-casted she walked toward him, closing the gap between foes to a more intimate distance. Her nose nearly touching his as she nuzzled under his chin, quickly leaving her scent on his neck, just as he marked her.
"Two can play at that game." She thought to herself, circling around him, her tail playfully fallowing her, teasing just under his chin. A deep more feminine purr pulsed through her body and outward, as she came up on his other side, after completing the circle. Her eyes were still down-cast, but briefly looked up, a playfull little fire in them, slowly drifting to look down again.
"Why don't we make a deal?" She spoke, her word woven like a song, something she had seen countless she-cat do to impress toms. Normally Falconleap was shy around handsome toms, or prospective mates but around Deadstar a special kind of fire broke in her belly, she wasn't shy, instead she wanted to prove to him, her competitive streak running wild in her, prove to his cocky high-headed tom that she could be just as good.
Her voice was barely a whisper, as her tail flicked is ear, a faint touch something to keep his attention on her, in a different kind of way, so he wouldn't see her as a threat. "Why not share the stream? If fish are getting to low and your warriors start to notice, tell me. We can meet here every third night after tonight, you give me a report and if the fish are too few, I'll back off. You won't smell me around her anymore. Leave it to me to explain to my clan how I get the fish, you won't have to dirty your paws. Besides if your right and I can't learn to fish you might not even need to worry" Falconleap spoke quickly but strongly, never leaving the closeness of their bodies not to mention the sweet song that escaped her maw. Pulling every trick just he had only served him right. As she ended her little speech, she by instincts alone went up to nuzzled his broken jaw, with the most gentle of touches. That touch alone surprised even her, she didn't think she'd be gentle not in the way, after all she was trying to seduce not lead him on to more permanent arrangements. She didn't back away, she put to much on the line just to back away, instead she remained where she was, beside him looking just below his eyes, not at his jaw more at his neck, where she so clearly marked him.

She was frustrated-- he could tell. It was obvious by her snarl, and the shudder that passed through her lithe body as her claws extended, scratching the rocks under her paws. The frustration made her angry-- this, too, he could tell. From the simple way her body shifted and changed, the way her expression changed, it was more than obvious that she was becoming angry again.
Deadstar moved to his paws, and Falconleap suddenly made a change that he wasn't entirely ready for. It was like walking on ice and having it break. Suddenly Deadstar was treading water, almost unsure of how to react. Falconleap's change from tough as a badger deputy to feminine, seductively beautiful she-cat wasn't exactly what Deadstar had been hoping to reach by pushing her buttons.
At his hiss, she flinched, just enough to make him wonder if she was faking the whole thing. Then she slunk forward, eyes on the ground, closing the distance between them. Her head passed under his chin, and she marked him just as he had previously marked her. Was she trying to use his own technique against him? Not that this was really a technique, that is… more of an… experiment. Yes, an experiment.
She circled, and he let his dull yellow eyes follow her movements. Falconleap was letting her tail tease all over his body, touching here then there and back again as she wound around him, a throaty purr rising in her chest. The circle complete, she looked up at him, before lowering her gaze once more.
He couldn't help it. He liked the way she reacted. She was unpredictable. First she was angry, then frustrated, then scared, then angry again, and then seductive? This cat was crazy! …and he liked it. It was all but spelled out in the Warrior Code, however, that friendships between clans like this were forbidden. He tipped an ear back, momentarily set off balance. Starclan was his life, was his guiding force. How could he do something to blatantly disrespect them?
…but was he? It was just an experiment. He was just toying with her, making her wonder. …right? Maybe things had gone too far. Deadstar's eyes narrowed, but Falconleap's next words made him forget all about Starclan.
"Why don't we make a deal?"
His immediate answer was no, but something in her voice made him hesitate. She had that feminine tone to her voice, that tone he had seen so many times in she-cats trying to seduce toms… but he didn't tell her to stop. Some part of him, some part normally hidden very deeply inside of him, wanted to see how this whole situation played out… and where it might lead. "I'm listening," He growled lightly, flicking back the ear that her tail touched.
Besides if your right and I can't learn to fish you might not even need to worry"
Deadstar's eyes narrowed once again. She nuzzled his broken, marred, twisted jaw, and his eyes became half-lidded in a forbidden pleasure he had never known before. Why her?! He called silently to Starclan. He was a leader of a clan, allowed to take a mate… but not one from a different clan. And besides, she could be faking it anyway. Sharing the stream, however… he didn't like the sound of that. Falconleap was still, standing beside him in silence, looking not at his eyes, but below them. Deadstar sighed. "You have a seven day. We meet every other day, and maybe if you're lucky I'll let you catch a fish or two. If I smell any other warrior but you, I swear by Starclan, Falconleap… you're dead." He snarled the last bit, but nuzzled her affectionately immediately after. Mixed emotions, much?
Why, oh, why did it have to be Falconleap?!

EVERYBODY'S WAITING FOR YOU TO BREAK DOWN His reactions where as expected however, Falconleap deep down felt guilty. She was leading him on, seducing him for lame reasons, her gut lurched she was an honest cat, pretending to like him wasn't in her nature, but then again was she pretending?
As she waited for his response she kept her head close to his, his fur within reach of her nose his scent: strong, noble, musky and above all protective. She drank him in, letting his scent fill every part of her body, from the tips of her claws to the little hairs in her ears, she wanted nothing more to be surrounded by him, but she was wrong! He was the stupid leader of RainClan! and she the deputy of StoneClan. Not only was she not allowed to ever have kits, maybe have a mate but what was the point? Kits were ideal and she longed for them, however she couldn't let the fact slide that he was from RainClan. If her feelings were real, beyond just her drive to get back at him, surely they wouldn't be able to carry anything on. Falconleap wouldn't be able to just slip away, but as she stood there, her mind a jumbled mess she found his scent a comfort. He was just so strong, not just in his physical nature but in his persona. He could be her rock, but she wouldn't dare ask that of him, after all she was expected to be strong not only for her Clan but her own leader. How could she allow herself to get mixed up in Deadstar? Fate had it's hand in this, StarClan too, she wanted to curse her ancestors but secretly she thanked him, after all Deadstar didn't have to be the one to find her, it could have been anyone.
His deep and powerful voice brought her attention back to the present, quickly out of her thoughts. She moved her head up to look at him, his voiced tickled her ears in the most delightful way. Just from the rumble of his chest, Falconleap know just how easily he lead his clan, the way he spoke not expected respect and she would easily give it to him, if he hadn't treated her as so, however she listened him and kept her mouth shut even as his threat echoed in her ears.
"I swear on my own life Deadstar, that no other cat but myself will fish here. I thank you from the bottom of my heart." She spoke, this time her voice level like when they first were talking, she wasn't trying to deceive him, she was honest in her words and her voice reflected that. "You don't know how much this means to me." She spoke frankly again, she looked at him and smiled kindly, relaxing more. The nuzzle that fallowed not to long after surprised her, but she welcomed it, returning the gesture happily, a powerful purr rumbling in her chest, still feminine but seeming like it was meant to be.
Surprised not only in his actions but her own, Falconleap looked down once again this time stepping back away from him, but remaining at a still intimate distance. Her mouth opened trying to voice some words out, anything to savor the moment or even clarify what was going on. Her own mixed emotions burned in her belly, he was acting like he wanted her dead but at the same time, the purr and nuzzles from him were heartfelt even warm. They weren't like nuzzles her brother gave her when she was younger and picked on, or purrs expressed by her parents when she told them of her accomplishments, they were slightly more protective, marking in nature but welcomed non the less.
"Deadstar..." She stopped, unsure of where to go anymore, her voice lost to her once again. Silverpelt gleamed in the water, her head turned to look down, careful not to disturb the beautiful reflection. As she stood there, watching the water she let all inhibitions fall away. "I might never get his chance again, not with him or even anyone for that matter" That was the excuse she gave herself, as she turned her head back, slowly giving him time to move away she nuzzled his jaw again this time licking the soft fur of his jaw, a gesture she had only see mates do to one another. A purr escaped her maw again, her nuzzles growing more like a lover's caress, she moved away and touched his nose briefly, a flush like none other before filled her face and warmed her ears. Her eyes dropped down, looking at the water, silverpelt seemed brighter, some how more calming.
Falconleap felt it was sign, if she wasn't meant to be around Deadstar or even act so forward surely StarClan would stop her right?
