Description:
Neither fawn or ruddy in color, she is instead a unique blend of both hues, her unusual coat color the pride of this RainClan she-cat. The color of softly-churned vanilla ice-cream, her fur looks as though it's been brushed delicately with rosy-salmon highlights, Roselight bearing the same pinkish-cream hue as her father, Salmonfur. Nose as pink as a kitten's paw, whiskers long and white, eyes large, glassy and a distinctive mixture of celadon and emerald, Roselight freely boasts that she's one of the prettier she-cats of her Clan, and has all the haughty demeanor of a she-cat who believes her own words. Semi-longhaired with a double coat of medium length, one would think that her afternoons are spent pretty much the same each day – a deep and thorough grooming of her light and quickly dirtied, easily tangled pelt – wrong. Despite it's length (the fur varying with shorter fur across the shoulders and longer, more mane-like fur along the neck, chest and collar), it's incredibly easy to groom and requires little-to-no maintenance at all. Characteristic of the Somali, Roselight does not fall short of breed standard with her long, bushy fox-like tail – the fur appearing dense and plush, and is the obvious pride of any Somali cat.
Well proportioned, with a medium-long, graceful body, Roselight can sometimes appear larger than she actually is due to the density and length of her fur – but light as feather she remains, regardless of anyone's usual assumptions. Just as her well-known cousin in TreeClan, Roselight has the “Cleopatra Look”, a true queen in her own right, she wears her dark-rimmed eye-lids and lightened area around it well. Above each eye appears a short vertical dark pencil stroke in the light area, while at the side of each eye appears a curved darker line that acts as a continuation of the upper eyelid, flowing right around her almond-shaped eyes. Though Roselight has no trouble accepting compliments or even purposefully inviting a few from the mouths of her Clanmates (she's a bit on the vain side, you see), the tufts of fur between her toes has made her a tad self conscious – but shh, you didn't hear that from me!
Description Summary: A beautiful cream and salmon-hued she-cat with long fur and greenish-blue eyes.Personality:
Roselight grew up believing she was just a little bit better than everyone else, a diamond amongst copper pennies. Having been raised by a queen who valued looks a little more than she should've, and a warrior-father who doted on her religiously, as a youngster she was continuously fussed over and complimented – so from a young age, Roselight has developed a more than healthy self esteem and sense of self-worth. Roselight's confidence about herself has spurned her on during her apprenticeship and those recent moons spent as a young warrior, determined to live up to her potential as well as keep up with her mother's expectations. Through sheer hard work, Roselight has crafted herself into a fine-tuned killing machine, a deep sense of determination and desire to move up the ranks seems to be characteristic of her lineage.
Though she isn't the type to obsess over anything, she has developed a meticulousness about her coat-care that the average warrior probably wouldn't have, but this tends to bleed into other aspects of her life as well – she is, for certain, a very calculated huntress with a natural affinity for tracking. Her fighting moves, however, are by no means as flawless as her hunting abilities, but she's learned that things don't always have to be pretty to get the job done.
That being said, Roselight's kithood spent with her beauty placed upon a pedestal is more or less going to have some sort of negative effect on her later, particularly should she sustain a life-long scar or marring of her body during battle. She's likely to suffer some sort of psychological issue or at the very least, have trouble coping with any sort of drastic/permanent change to her physical appearance.
External issues aside, let's move on to Roselight's more prominent traits.
She happens to have an independent streak a mile wide; having grown up an only kit, Roselight learned early on how to entertain herself and not rely too heavily on the other kits at the nursery to keep her company. Make no mistake, she's not anti-social, just a little too content with being alone sometimes, and it often takes a friendly reminder or two for the she-cat to realize she does enjoy her social circles and being included. She prefers to go her own way or do things using her method and not necessarily someone else's; she can come off as haughty or arrogant because of her attitude, but a cat with lesser self-esteem than she would've been bothered by this, but Roselight just lets it roll off her like rain water from a leaf.
More than just confident, independent and known for her good looks, a deeper look at her character shows that she's a she-cat who also has a humorous side. Roselight isn't particularly certain when this trait developed, but she's used it to her advantage ever since, upon discovering that most cats warm up to you if you're willing to poke a little fun at yourself rather than at others. Her humor isn't just self-directed, she has a talent for dry wit as well, a skill influenced by her father's own intellectual, if not cheeky responses to things.
Despite her good intentions, Roselight happens to be an opinionated she-cat, and can sometimes insult rather than help a cat out by offering a piece of her mind, whether they actually needed it or not. This particular flaw of hers always seems to catch her by surprise, as if she has trouble understanding the reason they're upset, and may occasionally need it explained to her afterward.
Roselight is a cat with quirks and hopes and aspirations, and so long as she doesn't stray from the warrior path (or insult too many cats), Roselight will continue on in her plans to live up to the true meaning of "A warrior of RainClan."History:
The First Few Moons:
Rosekit was born to the warrior Salmonfur and the queen Silverflower; being the only kit in the litter, naturally she was doted on and spoiled often. Silverflower in particularly was starstruck by her daughter's apparent loveliness, and focused on it more than she should've, Rosekit easily becoming Silverflower's pride and joy. It wasn't to say she would've loved the kitten any less had she turned out rather ugly, it is simply always a mother's right to claim that their offspring are (in their eyes, and sometimes the eyes of onlookers) better than everyone else's. Bearing the rosy-cream hue of her father, but with the striking eyes of her mother, she was considered a very pretty kit, independent of nature, though sweet and easy to get along with.
It was when Rosekit was 6 moons old, on the eve of her apprentice ceremony, that she met her future best friend, Henkit. Henkit was actually not Clan-born, and had come into RainClan by way of Salmonfur, the compassionate warrior having rescued the kit when she had apparently been abandoned by her mother. Though Henkit (as she'd been dubbed by Silverflower) was shy and self-conscious at first, Rosekit's confidence and acceptance of Henkit was just the kind of boost the former loner-kit needed. The two got along famously, even when the two were made apprentices – Rosekit became Rosepaw, and a moon later, Henkit became Henpaw – the pair tight as bark on a tree from that point onward.
Apprenticeship:
Rosepaw was given to Jaspertooth, a middle-aged warrior with a sturdy work ethic, though he was frequently late to their scheduled training sessions due to spending so much time checking on his frequently pregnant mate (Tigerpelt). Rosepaw put her whole heart into her training, feeling at one point that Jaspertooth wasn't such a good match for her, she actually went to the deputy and asked for a replacement – a request that wounded Jaspertooth in the process. The older tom had never had an apprentice consider him inadequate before, and it put their mentor-apprentice relationship a bit on the rocky, awkward side for a while.
At 10 moons, Rosepaw saw her first glimpse of battle in a fight at the RainClan/NightClan border; Rosepaw had drawn the short straw during that fight, and was targeted by a long-legged, raggedy NightClan warrior by the name of Jackalfang. It took her a long time to get rid of the feeling of his yellow eyes and claws piercing into her body, and after a few brave attempts to defeat him, Jackalfang sent her yowling back to camp like the frightened apprentice she was. It was Jaspertooth who defeated Jackalfang, much to the surprise of Rosepaw, and she began to saw the older cat in a much different light than she had at the beginning.
Vowing to become a stronger, better fighter, the next 4 moons were full of long nights spent training, long mornings on dawn patrol, and very little time for socializing.
14 Moons:
By the time her fighting skills had reached the level she desired, Rosepaw was at last able to catch up to all that had happened with her best friend, Henpaw. Much to the she-cat's astonishment, Henpaw was in love! With her mentor! Dismayed by this, Rosepaw did all that she could to try to dissuade Henpaw from her apparent infatuation with the snow-white tom, Cloudfoot, even to Henpaw's annoyance, but it was obvious it was out of Rosepaw's hands after it carried over into their Warriorhood.
After fighting valiantly at another border-battle between NightClan once again, both Rosepaw and Henpaw were given their warrior names at Sunrise. Rosepaw earned the name Roselight, in honor of her light reflexes during hunting and battle, as well as for the subtle hue of her coat. Henpaw became Henfeather.
Warriorhood:
Though Roselight's 'love life' was pretty much non-existent, her best friend's romance with her former mentor had begun soaring to new heights. It wasn't long before the two declared themselves mates, and it took an even shorter time for the two to start procreating. By the time Roselight by 19 moons, Henfeather delivered her kits – three healthy beautiful kittens – and the she-cat warrior quickly grew to love them almost as much as their mother did.
The grayish tom had been affectionately named Lichenkit, the beautiful white female with the ginger ears and tail had been given the name Mallowkit, and the handsome striped tabby tom had become Bramblekit.
Roselight was happy, Henfeather was happy, and the Clan was happy with their newest additions; there was one cat, however, who did not share in the joy of Henfeather's new family.
That was Cloudfoot, the father.
Much to the confusion of Henfeather and the absolute fury of Roselight, Cloudfoot began neglecting his duties as father, shirking away from the responsibility as well as treating Henfeather with the cold shoulder. This behavior carried on for at least two moons – much to the stress and agony of Henfeather – before Roselight finally snapped. The protective she-cat attacked Cloudfoot after she had followed him out on a hunt one evening, and gave the tom an ultimatum; support Henfeather and be the father his kits need him to be, or take his sorry hide as far from Henfeather as he could.
Cloudfoot opted for the second option. The 'break-up' of the two resulted in extreme heartache for Henfeather, and Roselight too, felt some diluted heart-pains for the entire situation, feeling sorry that her best friend's offspring were going to grow up without a father figure, feeling sorry that Henfeather's heart had been broken by a tom undeserving of the she-cat's love.
Roselight has since then taken over the 'father' role to the three kits (who are by now 3 1/5 moons old), acting as a support system for the distraught Henfeather, helping her best friend get back up on her paws and move on, as well as take care of the whole family. Though she is no substitute for an actual father-figure, she is trying her best, balancing her duties as a warrior with the needs of Henfeather and Henfeather's growing kits.
Despite all of this, now that the kits are eating solid food, Roselight feels ready and willing to take on her very first apprentice.
Perhaps down the line, Roselight would like to start a family of her own, though she is admittedly a little put-off on the whole idea thanks to Henfeather's ordeal.
A Black Spot on her History:
Other:
Roselight is related to Sunstar, which in turn makes her related to Lionstar, Silverpaw & Rowanpaw (distantly) and Russethawk (first cousin).
