❧ Russetkit is, as his name indicates, a red furred tom-kit who carries the distinctive 'ticking' of his ancestors, and is the owner of a plush ruddy coat that will lengthen once he reaches adulthood. His whiskers are short but neat, and his eyes, by far his brightest feature, are a passionate green - as vibrant as emeralds but with all the fire of a roaring hearth. He bears the dark tabby "M" mark upon his forehead, with black ticking along his spine, the edges of his paws and the very tip of his tail. Because he is nearing his apprenticeship, Russetkit has lost some of the kitten plumpness and is starting to resemble a miniature warrior, something of which he prides himself on immensely. Russetkit's long legs indicate he's likely to grow up and become a warrior of impressive stature once full-grown.
Update: Russetkit has since become Russetpaw, and has already completely lost his kitten appearance. No more soft baby fur for this tom, his deep red coat is starting to really come in now that leaf-fall is in full swing, his eyes are still as fiercely green as ever, though his facial features are growing more distinct, more masculine. He has yet to build up any substantial muscle-mass, but he's at least lost the kitten plumpness, now a warrior-to-be, his red fur already adapted to the lifestyle of a RainClanner, able to keep out the cool river waters whenever he goes for a swim. Though he has a lot to learn, he at least looks the part of a RainClan warrior-in-the-making.
❧ I Got The World On A String
---> Who needs rules, right?
In the bright green eyes of a kitten who thinks he can rule the world, everyone (especially him) would be better off without those pesky rules and laws and codes. Oh if he had a mouse for every code RainClan had he'd...well...he'd have a lot of mice! Russetkit is a big personality packed into an arguably small package, his heart as big as the skies, his rebellious streak as long as the horizon line. He laughs at the idea of danger, thinks a 'warning' is a joke, and generally parades around the nursery as though he's king the world and he's simply allowing all you simpletons to live in it. Russetkit has a very high and mighty opinion of himself (obviously), but it's not to say he's a rotten creature, only that he was born with a bit of self-entitlement and a 'I can handle anything you throw my way!' attitude. By all means, Russetkit, when not causing trouble, can be a perfectly respectable member of warrior-society, it's when he chooses to misbehave that cats tend to view him as an annoying pile of red fur with self-confidence bigger than Deadstar.
Though he's more or less a walking ego, he is kind to the few true friends he has, loyal to a fault, has quite a protective streak, and he both admires (and likes to tease) his older cousin, Roseflight, and the RainClan leader, Deadstar.
Russetkit's view of the world is still very much a child's, for example, he'd view a fight with a badger as a chance to prove himself the best warrior ever, not a horrifying and likely fatal experience that it really is. To him, the world is just one big game, and in the eyes of this young kitten, he's already halfway to the winner's circle.

❧ Russetkit was born an only kit to Snoweye - a warrior tom who had gone blind in one eye - and Brookrun, a pretty silver RainClan queen, and he came into this world determined to make as much noise as possible. Russetkit quickly let others know that he was a kit with opinions and desires and a thirst for adventure (and trouble) that hadn't been seen around the nursery for quite a while. Though he was small, he ensured everyone that he was still a force to be reckoned with, sometimes playing a little too roughly with the other kits, as he had already started developing at a slightly faster rate than his fellow nursery-friends. Though he had grown up an only kit, he was never bored, and always found ways to entertain himself - even if those ways were the kind that broke rules and got him into some fairly sticky situations.
His favorite act of disappearing usually is resolved with a RainClan warrior dragging him back home by the scruff of his neck, their ears folded back against their skulls to perhaps drown out the loud caterwauling protests made by the little bundle of fury they were carrying between their teeth. Even though he was often scolded, Russetkit let the harsh words just roll off his pelt like rain water, and he would be back to his old tricks in no time.
Any cat with the misfortune of getting this rebellious little spitfire as an apprentice might as well buy this kid a leash, at least then they'd be able to keep track of him!
Time has passed in RainClan, and their number one troublemaker has just become their number one trouble-making apprentice! Though his body and his self confidence are larger than ever, Russetpaw has already begun to show promise, being an attentive, very intelligent, charming youngster. Still holding on to his particular brand of charisma and his heaps of personality, it's likely Russetpaw won't lose himself on the way to become a warrior - but rather, refine what's already there inside of him.

Description
The definition of ruddy, Russethawk is unusual by RainClan standards; considered lanky, he's tall for the kind of cats RainClan usually turns out. Muscular but not overly so, Russethawk has the appearance of a fine (if not attractive) warrior - glossy coat with variegated shades of red, brown and black ticking, keen emerald eyes that have been as much a trademark of his looks as his fur color, and pleasantly proportionate features. His nose is salmon in hue, whiskers primarily white save for the stray black whisker that creeps in every now and then.
Though a participant in a pawful of battles, Russethawk's scars are either very few or impossible to locate beneath his water-resistant, semi-long coat. A distinctive tabby M on his forehead suggests a more common coat color in his ancestry, the black shading along his back and tail the remnants of a tabby pattern from his mother's side of the family. His lower jaw and throat, by contrast, appear almost white. This combined with his coat color and the black shading on his heels, gives Russethawk a very vulpine look that's turned more than a few heads in his lifetime.

Description Summary
A long-legged russet tom with bright green eyes.
Personality
(3-4)Positives+
Mischievous, Steadfast, Daring, Charismatic
Mischievous - Russethawk likes to tease his friends as if they were his siblings; he’s got a fun streak that’s been dampened over the years by tragedy, but still exists. It takes him a while to bounce back when knocked down, but Russethawk usually does. He’s got a personality and playfulness that endures.
Steadfast - Even if RainClan was nothing more than a patch of sand and three warriors, Russethawk would stick to the Clan and what it stands for to his dying breath. He’s a bit old-fashioned like that, but it’s less to do with ‘Clan honor’ and history behind it, and entirely to do with the wonderful cats he’s met since kithood. He fights for them. He’d die for them. His loyalty is as strong as the river.
Daring - a problematic young wanderer as an apprentice, Russethawk never lost his lust for adventure. He enjoys novelty however it appears, and he’ll often be the first to try something new and exciting. He’s not so daring that he’ll throw himself into unnecessary risk, however.
Charismatic - For all his faults, he has more friends than enemies. He’s popular and sociable. He enjoys gatherings. Cats find him easy to talk to and to air their grievances with. He’s old enough now that he can be a source of wisdom and solace for the younger generation; something that still boggles his mind a bit. But he tries, and speaks from the heart. That’s what matters.
(5-6)Negatives-
Demanding, Selfish, Rash, Pushy, Irrational
Demanding - There’s a reason why most of Russethawk’s friends have gentler personalities than his own. He can be a bit bossy and demanding, especially when he’s in a mood. Growing up an only kit, he’s used to getting his way.
Selfish - Empathy is something he’s had to teach himself. Again, growing up an only kit, and being the kind of bold, extroverted personality that he is, he has to remind himself not to step on other cats’ feelings from time to time.
Rash - Quick to act, quick to make a decision, he doesn’t always make the best ones - preferring to go with his gut or his heart over his head. He’ll take a risk, even if his Clanmates aren’t necessarily onboard with this.
Pushy - Argumentative with his former apprentice, Piketooth, Russethawk sometimes makes it a habit to push others out of their comfort zones - for the sake of growth. But sometimes… sometimes he just wants to see something change, and he’s not above forcing it just a little.
Irrational - Russethawk has seen too much death to be naïve. However, he is a stronger believer in ‘just desserts’ and everything being alright in the end. He isn’t comfortable dealing out judgment upon others, or in the case of Surgeclaw, hunting down his enemies. He’s aggressive when he needs to be, but not vindictive. He puts his faith in StarClan, that a problem, once dealt with, is gone for good.

History
Kithood to Warrior Status:
Russethawk was the only son of Brookrun and Snoweye, two steady (though unremarkable) RainClan warriors. He was the cousin of Roselight, their fathers being littermates, which eventually made him the second cousin of Roselight's three kits - Quietstream, Piketooth and Minnowsplash - but that didn't happen until much later.
An adventurous youngster, Russetkit ignored the rules with all the determination a bold kitten could muster. He frequently slipped away, traveling on his own until he was fetched by Roselight or a frantic Brookrun. He made it all the way to StarClan's Claws on one occasion, and Russetkit, despite his rule breaking, made friends far and wide. His closest friend from the nursery, however, was Lilykit, who was just a couple moons behind him in age.
Despite his frequent escapes, Russetkit was made an apprentice, which had the effect of instilling some maturity in the mischief-making little tom. His mentor was a serious, sharp-tongued, cold-eyed warrior by the name of Razorfang (named so for his peculiarly sharp teeth), and they clashed and argued, and their relationship as mentor and apprentice nearly came to an end. However, the two were able to cast their differences aside, even as their lives began to change for the better - and for worse.
Razorfang was appointed deputy by Sandstar, and love began to blossom between him and Russetpaw's older cousin, Roselight.
At the end of his apprenticeship, tragedy struck RainClan. A flood claimed many lives, his parents' among them. Brookrun had slipped upon the river bank, and, her belly swollen with kits, had been too heavy for Snoweye to rescue. The couple fell in together, and perished.
Russetpaw, in the height of his grief, felt himself growing numb even when Sandstar saw fit to award him his warrior name mere days after their deaths. Russetpaw became Russethawk, and he was jostled from some of his misery by this long-awaited accomplishment. It wasn't the end of Russethawk's grief, but it was the turning-over of a new chapter.
Now a warrior, and with two close friends (Lilystream and Bravebird) to keep his spirits up, Russethawk moved on.
The Next Chapter:
The next twenty moons of his life were eventful:
RainClan and LightningClan became StormClan very briefly to chase StoneClan out of their own territory - something that doesn't sit well with him to this day. The three Clans involved are still affected by the violence and falsehoods surrounding this awful, bloody event.
Russethawk was given his very own apprentice, a thoughtful tom named Rushpaw.
After a border clash that turned lethal, Sandstar died at the claws of Blackwolf - and Razorfang became Razorstar.
Razorstar and Roselight welcomed a litter of three kits into the world; Pikekit, Minnowkit and Quietkit. Russethawk saw to it that Rushpaw became a warrior (now Rushwhisker). This chapter of Russethawk's life closed again on a mournful note. Razorstar gave his last life protecting Swanfeather from a fox, and Russethawk was once again thrown into grief.
The next twenty moons were even more eventful:
One of Razorstar's last ceremonies had been to give Russethawk a new apprentice - Pikepaw, Roselight's son. Unfortunately, Razorstar's death threw the Clan into chaos, and no cat escaped its devastating effects. Especially Pikepaw. Their relationship was strained, and Russethawk had no idea how to deal with such an angry, belligerent, vengeful tom.
The civil war that errupted in RainClan over Timberwing's right to become Timberstar (as a former NightClan warrior, her ascension worried many) put further strain on everything and everyone. The civil war turned incredibly violent, however, as the Purists (those allied with Swanfeather) took it upon themselves to 'purge' RainClan of any cat that was not Clan born or could prove their lineage.
Russethawk did not suffer any personal losses, but his heart was repeatedly raked over the coals by his best friend Bravebird's choice to support his adopted mother, Swanfeather. A divide was put between them, but it was not meant to last. Once the killings started, Russethawk forced Bravebird to come home - unable to bear seeing his friend ally himself with murderers. It was not an easy choice for Bravebird, but it was the right one.
The civil war ended as violently as it started. StarClan chose Stormheart to be their new leader (a pure RainClan warrior), and Russethawk was part of the battle party Stormstar led to the Wooded Cove to deal with the traitors. Russethawk fought alongside Rushwhisker's sister, Ashpaw, and saved her from Surgeclaw's wrath. Surgeclaw escaped, something which may or may not come back to haunt him.
Most Recent:
The most recent moons have been quieter (by comparison) but no less stressful. Greencough wreaked havoc upon RainClan, but again Russethawk was spared any deep personal losses. He was given a new apprentice after Pikepaw became Piketooth, and it was this spirited young she-cat (a former purist) that had fallen ill to greencough. She pulled through, and Berrypaw's training has now taken front and center in Russethawk's life.
Well, almost.
Love has always been something that's been on the backburner for Russethawk; he'd been foolish enough to always assume Lilystream, his kithood sweetheart, would return his feelings. That they would eventually confess their hearts to one another and go from there - but that was a fool's assumption. Lilystream fell in love with Ashclaw, and the door to her heart was forever closed to Russethawk thereafter.
Russethawk has proven himself capable of bouncing back from near anything. His heart now beats for a new she-cat, Ashflight, and he's not about to let that door close in his face either - not while there's a strong possibility she may return his feelings.
