PROLOGUE
As the final traces of Leafbare fade away and new warmth of Newleaf sets in, life begins to return to the valley. The sight of prey emerging from their burrows, water unfreezing, herbs sprouting, and the sun showing its face all bring comfort to Gorgeclan, a sign that good days are on their way. Though, along with this new life comes the pressures of fates yet to come. Plans must be formed, decisions must be made. Much weighed on Whitestar's mind as the brush which formed the Leader's den began to turn green.
But, many disruptions found their way to him, reports that couldn't go unnoticed or unaddressed. Reports of snakes. At first, only a few. But the amount of clanmates approaching the white tom and informing him of snake sightings, catches, or even bites was growing at an alarming rate. A report finally reached his ears, one that gave him further insight into what was happening.
"There was multiple of them, big and small. They were all going to the same place. It was like a crack in the gorge wall at the bottom. I couldn't tell for sure from where I was, but it looked like the crack went further in than just the surface. I think there could be a nest in there. What should we do?"
After summoning Brackenstride to his den and discussing what should be done, the decision of what to do was made. The two toms emerged together, and the large one-eyed tom approached the Tangled Roots, hopping atop them and looking to the clan, many of whom had turned to see what was going on.
"All cats old enough to scale the gorge gather here at the Tangled Roots. -Clan gathers-. I am sure that all of you have noticed the sudden increase of snake sightings, catches, and bites coming from the gorge. At first this didn't seem too strange, but now they have become way too frequent for us to ignore any longer. Too many of us have already seen them or have been bitten, and at least two of us have already died from a venomous bite. It was brought to my attention that a large amount of them were spotted at a particular area in the gorge, one where there may be a small cave. We think that there may be a nest, and they were taking shelter there during Leafbare. So, tomorrow at dawn I will be leading a patrol into the gorge to find this nest and take care of as many snakes as we can. I will need as many cats as possible to come with me so we can cover more ground and have backup. If you are willing to come with me, please come forward and let me know. We have to find this nest and get rid of it as soon as possible."

SUMMARY
As the weather starts getting warmer with the arrival of Newleaf, Gorgeclan finds that snakes are infesting the bottom of the gorge, and that there is likely a nest somewhere that they hid away in during Leafbare to escape the cold. After an unsettling amount of snake sightings, catches, and a few bites leading to deaths occur, Whitestar and Brackenstride form a plan to go into the gorge, get rid of as many snakes as possible, and either destroy this nest or seal the entrance. Whitestar announces this plan to the clan and informs them that the next morning he will be leading a party into the gorge to carry out this plan.
At least 9 other played cats will accompany him on this patrol for the sake of strength in numbers and more ground coverage, plus some NPCs.
The participants are volunteer based, and only those who are an older Apprentice or older may volunteer, ideally 15+ moons.
Any older Apprentices who do take part in this event will receive a check towards their training thread count.

DETAILS
Date: Newleaf 13
Time: Almost sunhigh
# of Cats: 10 Played Total | At least 5 NPCs
Goals: Kill as many snakes as possible. Find the nest. Either destroy it or seal it up.
Badge: Everyone who participates will receive a special little snake badge that will show that you participated in this event!
Signing Up: To take part in this event, please post in this thread with what character and their vote on whether they should destroy the nest or seal the entrance.
Thread Type: The main thread will be a regular roleplay thread and dice rolls will be used to help determine the outcome of each post.
> Everyone can use the 'your-turn-to-roll' channel found in the Discord to make your rolls! A message will be posted there explaining what to do and how it works! <
Posts: Posts that are lower on number count, closer to 150, are highly encouraged! No posts have to be super detailed or deep, since they are all battle-based.
Time Limit: This event isn't meant to take up a whole lot of time, in or out of character. So, to keep things moving quickly, there will be a time limit of 36 hours for the next person in order to make their post before they are skipped.
> The posting order will be the same order that is listed at the bottom of this post, so if you volunteer multiple characters, all of them will be in the same post that you make <
Event Type: Think almost boss battle, except there are a ton of tiny bosses. Each snake killed will be a hit against the collective snake "HP". Once that is at 0, the patrol will find the nest and will make their choice on what to do. The success of a kill will be determined through dice rolls.
HP System: There will be 50 HP total to knock down, and each snake will count as 5 HP.
Post System: Once the event begins, every single post will be 1 cat vs 1 snake. Depending on what number you roll on the dice before making your post, either your character will kill the snake in one post, they may need help defeating the snake and require assistance, or they will be bit. If they do not defeat the snake in one post and require assistance, whoever posts next will have their character step in and kill that snake. If your character is bit in their post, you get to decide whether or not the bite was venomous and if your character is out of commission.
Example using my own characters:
Whitestar: Rolls 15, successfully kills snake, next poster.
Ashtail: Rolls 8, has trouble fighting snake, Leopard steps in and kills snake
Leopard: Does not roll, jumps in and automatically succeeds killing Ash's snake, next poster
Batear: Rolls 1, gets bit, not venomous but taps out, replaced by NPC
Dogpaw: Rolls 13, kills Bat's snake while Bat retreats, faces her own, successful kill, next poster
If the character before you needs assistance, your character will jump in and will kill the snake giving the character before you trouble. No need for a dice roll, you will automatically succeed.
Dice Rolls: When it comes to your turn to post, you will roll a dice before making your post and you will include your dice roll at the top of your post. Each character faces against a single snake per post, so whatever number you roll determines how successful you are at killing the snake you are against. (Unless the character before you needs help.)
11-20: Successful kill | 2-10: Difficulty, requires assistance | 1: Bitten
Regardless of what number you roll, you are free to choose how the roll happens. If they succeed, you choose how they kill the snake. If they need assistance, you can choose why. If they get bit, you choose whether it is venomous or not and how they are bit and whether the bite affects their ability to participate.
