fter the storms of the last couple days, Cloverstar was sure the last thing her Clanmates wanted was to get wet again. Unfortunately for them, that was exactly what was going to happen. The weather was pleasant and the lake was full - there was no reason not to begin the swimming lessons many of MistClan's members needed. They claimed territory that was just as much water as land, and especially in the season of newleaf it would be important to learn the skill that would make any potential flooding survivable. She'd explained all of this moons ago to her Clan, so they'd had plenty of time to complain and sulk about it - now was the time for them to prove their loyalty was stronger than the mild discomfort of being wet. " That's it, I'm not going any further!" one cat exclaimed, tail held high apparently to prevent it from touching the gentle waves that lapped at his ankles. It took all her self-control not to roll her eyes. She'd felt uncomfortable and irritable when she'd first started to learn to swim, of course, but she'd asked for lessons from Silverstar. She couldn't very well order her warriors to learn something she wasn't willing to do herself. But she also didn't have time to organize one-on-one swimming lessons for each of them to move at their own pace, not when it was clear that many of them just needed to jump in and start getting used to it. " Is that so, Oaktail?" said Cloverstar calmly, and began walking over to him, her progress slowed by the water she was currently belly-deep in. She kept her voice low when she reached him so as not to make a scene. " It's enlightening to know you can't accomplish what a new RainClan apprentice could do on their first day of training. Isn't that right, Drizzlepaw? You learned how to swim on your first day of training, correct?" She raised her voice a little to question the apprentice swimming like a fish nearby. She'd brought Drizzlepaw along, a former RainClan apprentice, specifically for this purpose. For whatever reason, some warriors were more willing to do something when she compared their performance to that of an apprentice's. " Actually, I learned how to swim a little even before my first day of training," Drizzlepaw declared proudly. Cloverstar couldn't have been more pleased by Drizzlepaw's response, which prompted a glowering Oaktail to shuffle a little further into the water. Unfortunately, it was now dawning on her she couldn't exactly mock the warrior into doing something that made him so uncomfortable. Though the idea of having Drizzlepaw show him how to swim was tempting, at the end of the day it was more important for her to foster loyalty and respect among her warriors, not resentment. " Oaktail? I'm not trying to belittle you," she said, even though that was very much what she had been doing, " and you don't have to enjoy this. But when the time comes where you need to swim for your life, I would prefer you to have these skills so you can live another day. Do you understand? Our territory is more at risk of sudden flooding than any other area in the valley. This is important." When her words earned a reluctant nod from Oaktail, she knew she'd been able to recover herself. It was difficult leading this Clan - it tried her patience everyday when she was forced to take her Clanmates' feelings into account. Now she just needed someone who could actually do the teaching part. Cloverstar swam fine, but she hadn't been doing it for seasons like many of the former RainClan cats. She scanned the area around her until her gaze landed on a calico molly. " Koisplash!" she called, and flicked her muzzle once she'd summoned the she-cat's attention. " Can you join us?" As she waited for Koisplash to swim over to them, a voice rang in her head: He might feel less reluctant if you do it with him. Showing him you're willing to humble yourself to learn with him would mean a lot. It was Palefire's voice, one of the many that tried to advise her after she received her nine lives. Despite how annoying it was to be told by a dead cat what you could be doing better, in this instance she couldn't argue with his logic. " Oaktail hasn't done much swimming," she told Koisplash, " and my technique could use some improvement as well. Could you show us what to do once our paws don't touch the lakebed?" She felt ridiculous asking the much-younger warrior for instruction, but noticed Oaktail looked considerably more cheerful than he did a minute ago. Let no cat ever tell me I do nothing for my Clan.[attr="class","cstag"]tagged Gemini | | [attr="class","csnotes"]notes <3 |

[attr="class","whatabout"] [attr="class","angels"] Life is like water If you block one side it takes other turns to continue its journey So don't stop your journey due to one failure [attr="class","wbascr"] The previous days had been downpours, and the crackling sounds and reverberating thunders vibrated the vast abyss above due to the lightning that struck. Koisplash recalled the thunderstorm as a molten silver sky, quenching the earth she cocooned in atramentous darkness. The mademoiselle didn't mind getting drenched from the day's rain, but she despised the auditory of lightning bursting through the atmosphere. Relief washed over the calico molly, alleviated that the storms had diminished, for now. Koisplash recalled the lessons that had begun today, a brazen simper plastering amongst her countenance at the thought. Concerning her former clan, RainClan, that might've meant Koisplash would be administering those who were once NightClanners with lectures on swimming. The ambiance amidst her had an ill-feeling, one that illustrated that her fellow clanmates loathed the thought of entering the pool of crystalline liquid. Most cats hated possessing a soaking pelage, and she didn't blame them; however, Koisplash was contrasting compared to them. She would love to literally live in the water if she could. The water-loving warrior pressed her paws into the soft, negligibly sludgy terrain with scattered rocky material, inhaling sharply. As the oxygen escaped her nasal passages, she scrutinized the warriors and apprentices amidst her. Koisplash's intense visage observed the warriors who stepped into the shallow waters, fur prickling and descending to their backbones.
"That's it; I'm not going any further!" A tomcat abrasively blurted, causing a few eyes in his direction. The tom's tassel was fluffed, displaying he'd been dreadful and apprehensive regarding proceeding further into the lake as he tightened his physique in posture. Finding amusement in his struggles, a momentary array of laughter fled the damsel's mandibles. An individual might interpret Koisplash as chortling at them, although she wasn't, nor was she judging them; she merely didn't comprehend the displeasure of swimming. Oh, come on, don't be a Drypaw... get in. The intrusive thoughts of speaking her mind swarmed her crania, quickly giving a shake of her facade to diminish her intruding opinions. Koisplash's embodiment froze slightly upon the sight of Cloverstar, terrified that the leader detested MistClanners, deep down after her comments toward Oaktail. Well, that was harsh. Likewise, she discovers herself distracted and entertained by the circumstances. Koisplash swallowed hard as Cloverstar's presence jostled her nerves, considering the damsel certainly was memorable in her presentation. Koisplash shifted back amongst her haunches, intrigued by the encounter between Oaktail and Cloverstar, followed by Drizzlepaw, an apprentice who excelled in swimming.
Koisplash envisioned several apprentices who could swim but not as swiftly as Drizzlepaw. Though Koisplash was a fantastic swimmer, harboring additional knowledge and experience than Drizzlepaw, she still admired that the apprentice accomplished a dexterity that a majority avoided. Koisplash assumed she should be assisting her clanmates but couldn't help but listen in on their conversation. The voices had been relatively faint but enough for her auditories to attend. It wasn't long before the leader's vocalizations settled in her auricles. The sound enveloped her for a couple of moments, blinking slowly, she called me over? Me? Koisplash wasn't anxious nor dissatisfied. She deemed this as some commendation, perhaps, an accomplishment. Cloverstar wanted her assistance and the sentiment was astonishing. There were enough prior RainClanners to choose from, but she'd decided on Koisplash. A diminutive smile crept across her countenance, expecting to rectify the situation with a more pleasant perspective. It was evident in Koisplash's visage that Cloverstar had minimal patience when lacking skillfulness in typically bypassed aspects such as swimming.
The long-furred bachelorette snaked into the tepid water beneath her foundations. As her digits left the lakebed, she was currently in the plunging dimensions of the water, extending each appendage with instantaneous, powerful forward paddles. The she-cat advanced smoothly without rippling the water a ton; crania maintained above the lake's surface as she reached the duo. Her effective quarters outstretched to the lakebed, paws pressed into the topography beneath the surface. The sensation of delicate tumbled pebbles beneath her toes had consistently fulfilled her. "It would be my pleasure; I'd love to join and contribute aid to the soundest of my ability." Koisplash dipped her crania in greeting toward her fellow clanmates, "I can see that. I heard the holler earlier," Koisplash articulated teasingly, a softened glimmer within the depths of her sea-green chasms. She didn't intend any damage by her whimsical remarks. Chuckling softly, she continued, "It's an absolute honor to support my clanmates. Shall we begin?" Without further question and barely awaiting an answer from the opposing warrior and MistClan's leader, standing in the shallowness of the water that descended deep. "Once you get into the water, begin by simultaneously kicking your left forelimb forward, followed by the right hindlimb, while combining this movement with your legs on the opposite side of your body." Koisplash paused in ponder, "Think of it as walking, as we do on land...It's more similar than you can probably believe."
Koisplash took one step deeper into the liquid she'd already been submerged in. "For instance, when the left front leg moves forward, so does the right back leg. When the right front leg moves forward, so does the left back leg. However, forelimbs and hindlimbs on the same side do not move forward simultaneously. Both swimming and walking will cycle between these patterns to move forward. Take it slow; you'll naturally float." The youthful warrior explained, shifting her gaze between Cloverstar and Oaktail, seemingly focusing more on her leader. She was still taken aback by Cloverstar's inquiry regarding Koisplash's assistance. "You want to be loose, like a fish, because the moment you tighten up, you will find yourself in panic. Envision you are walking, except in water. Strange, I know, but I also know you can do this, Oaktail." With a small, charming smile, she emphasized that this wasn't impossible. Anyone can swim if they put enough heart toward it. oisplash was a powerful and confident swimmer - that was for certain. The ease and deftness with which she moved through the water was admirable, reminding Cloverstar she actually did still have a thing or two to learn when it came to her own technique. The younger warrior seemed pleased at the opportunity to assist them, adding a lightly teasing remark to Oaktail that made him let out a little sheepish chuckle. He seemed more relaxed already than he had with just Cloverstar, which was exactly what she'd been hoping for. Koisplash was on the younger side, on equal footing with Oaktail when it came to rank, and she seemed charming and easygoing in manner - among those here today, she was probably the perfect candidate for this. Lucky she was here, the leader thought, and it occurred to her then that Koisplash was probably here today for precisely this sort of thing. She was obviously genuinely interested in helping her new Clanmates. She stepped to the side, allowing Koisplash to move deeper into the water to demonstrate her movements as she explained them aloud. Cloverstar nodded, feigning interest even though all of this was one of the first things she'd ever learned from her own lessons. " I'll go next," she told Oaktail, and he looked back at her with wide, round eyes filled with something like relief. She moved her forelegs first, pushing off the pebbles of the lakebed with her hind legs and keeping them churning steadily. " Take it slow; you'll naturally float," Koisplash continued to advise. " She's right," said Cloverstar, " It might feel like you should sink, but as long as you keep all your legs moving, you'll have no problem keeping your head above water." The feeling of weightlessness was initially heart-stopping for her, but once her limbs gained steady movement, the calm and confidence always returned. She tried to turn to face Oaktail with the same ease Koisplash seemed to effortlessly possess, but instead had to swim in a bit of a circle so she could look at him again. She still didn't quite understand how to use her tail to help herself steer and turn direction - maybe hers just wasn't thick enough. The tabby tom was still hesitating, looking at Koisplash and nodding nervously as she encouraged him. Her last words seemed to have an effect on him, as he finally took a deep breath and moved into the deeper water. For a moment, most of his upper body appeared to be above water as his limbs moved, then his lower body began to sink, causing him to start splashing desperately with his fore-paws to keep his muzzle aloft. " Help!" he gasped, even though his head was still fully clear of the water. " Relax," Cloverstar ordered, trying not to roll her eyes. " You're not drowning, you're just forgetting to use your back legs." He was going to tire himself out splashing around like that so helplessly. If he gave up now, she suspected it would be harder to once again coax him out to the deeper waters. " You're doing fine, just quit panicking." Oaktail let out an annoyed hiss as he continued to make a great deal of noise in his splashing. " Tell the panicking cat not to panic - you're a real genius, Cloverstar!" Her mood toward him immediately soured. " What do you want to hear, Oaktail? 'It's okay to give up'?" she asked dryly. She didn't think he was as panicked as he thought he was if he could still argue with her. [attr="class","cstag"]tagged Gemini | | [attr="class","csnotes"]notes <3 |

[attr="class","whatabout"] [attr="class","angels"] Life is like water If you block one side it takes other turns to continue its journey So don't stop your journey due to one failure [attr="class","wbascr"] Without a doubt, it was very evident that Koisplash's mastery in swimming had prevailed since she was a young kit. She recalled her mother taking the mademoiselle to a shallow pond when RainClan still existed and prospered. She remembered the vision as though it was yesterday. As a kit, Koisplash's curiousness about water magnified the moment she soaked her paws beneath the surface of the transparent, tepid fluid during a warm Greenleaf afternoon. The way she snaked through the liquid hadn't only become natural to her but was something she continuously practiced and perfected, much like a few of her other skills, such as combat. Assisting her leader was something she'd imagined doing ever since she was young, a feeling she ultimately demanded without directly announcing such. It was merely a dream, one that positively came through. She wasn't only aiding one of authority but a fellow clanmate. Unlike the former RainClanners, most NightClanners required training and guidance for their poor, weak strides in water. It wasn't delightful when she monitored felines who failed, nearly drowning. Helping others delighted the warrior, as she enjoyed watching others grow and retain new fortes, significantly those anguished to discover.
Everyone possessed wings; they ought to spread their wings and fly. Numerous individuals required a simple push without compelling them to adapt quickly. Koisplash believed in more gentle guidance rather than becoming harsh and degrading toward another. The damsel surveyed Cloverstar's movement, watching as she paddled in a hover, remaining in one place on the water's surface. Cloverstar can swim well, but everyone can improve. Even I could constantly improve. No one is a perfect swimmer. Small ripples generated, shrouding Cloverstar, "Due to the oxygen in our bodies, we inherently float for the most part, little do most realize," Koisplash's vibrant sea-green visage followed Cloverstar's circulating turn, holding her tongue. She also desired to give Cloverstar some advice, struggling to depart her mandibles. Is it wrong to give my leader guidance, too? I'm no deputy, just a warrior."Cloverstar," Koisplash vocals appeared confident, although she was feeling nervous, clearing her throat, "If you simultaneously kick your front right paw, and left hind paw; by utilizing your tail to the opposing direction in which you'd like to turn, that should assist with quicker change of direction." Koisplash offered a warm smile, "For example, turning your tail to the left will redirect you to the right, and vice versa."
Finally, Oaktail stepped into the water, despite his hesitation at first. "Everyone can improve in every skill, even our leader, Cloverstar-- she's willing to learn with you, Oaktail. You can do this." However, shortly after those words, Oaktail began to panic and thrash. Koisplash's fur bristled when the tabby warrior gasped for help, taking a deep breath to remain where she was, on her toes in case he truly needed assistance. The warrior listened to Cloverstar's apathetic comments, a soft sigh escaping Koisplash's nostrils. He's not wrong. But he really won't stop thrashing. He must cease."Oaktail, stop!" She blurted out, concern lacing her vocalizations, "Please, believe me when I say you will float. Kick your hind legs too, left hind paw with your front right paw, then with the opposing sides. Don't overthink; you're merely overwhelming yourself. This practice is instinctual. This is a part of what you are. Breathe and paddle. Readjust yourself quickly." The mademoiselle demanded, though relatively soft with the panicking feline, how he was feeling at that moment. He looked petrified, but there was no need to be.
Cloverstar wasn't the softest cat, and Koisplash had grown well aware of the moons she served under the new MistClan. Nonetheless, the molly respected her leader, believing she still desired the soundest for her clan."I know you might be scared, but I refuse to assist you unless you're drowning, which you're not, I promise." The damsel ascended quickly, slipping into the water gracefully, adjusting her legs and tail when her physique felt lighter due to the water enveloping her frame. "I shouldn't need to save you, Oaktail. I'm sure you are an amazing swimmer-- relax and glide!" She attempted to express more enthusiasm, providing an optimistic outlook for the struggling warrior.

C loverstar." Koisplash's voice made the MistClan leader switch her gaze from Oaktail to the calico warrior. The she-cat's seemed restless for a moment, though Cloverstar couldn't imagine why, before she began speaking again with instructions on how to move her tail to steer herself. " For example, turning your tail to the left will redirect you to the right, and vice versa." The idea that Koisplash had noticed her sloppy way of turning in the water pricked at her pride, but admittedly it wasn't the way she said it that annoyed her, so she had to set aside her pride... again. The calico warrior's green eyes were sincere, and she even offered an encouraging smile. It took guts to offer advice to your leader, but she'd done it anyway. In fact, she'd accurately pinpointed a weakness and offered her a solution to wipe that weakness away. Cloverstar swept her tail through the water with purpose this time, churning her back legs at the same time and was surprised to find how easily she glided exactly in the direction she wished to turn without needing to twist her body to do it. She did it again, in the other direction this time, not perfectly but leaps and bounds better than her sorry attempts at turning earlier. " Oh... that's much better. Thank you, Koisplash." Now able to turn her direction toward Oaktail again with relative ease, Cloverstar had to suppress laughter at the sight of the tabby tom struggling as much as he was. StarClan forbid the other Clans see her warriors like this... they'd never take MistClan seriously in a hundred moons. Koisplash, however, didn't lose her cool - she was still determined to help her fellow warrior. Her sharp tone seemed to have an effect on him; he quit thrashing about almost at once to listen to her, though he was still making pathetic little noises and struggling to keep his chin above the water. To his credit though, he hadn't tried to start swimming toward the shore. He probably doesn't even know where it is, she thought, again having to force herself to keep from laughing. Koisplash glided toward him, and Cloverstar had no idea how she still had the patience in her to continue to encourage him the way she did. " Would you look at that," Cloverstar called out after a few moments, " you're swimming, Oaktail." " Huh?" he gasped, and coughed out a bit of lakewater and paused for a moment as he clocked what he'd been doing without even thinking about it - treading water so he could listen to Koisplash. " O-oh." He seemed to start calming down and the sound of splashing lessened dramatically as he regained his breath. " I don't know about amazing," he said sheepishly. " I guess I'm not drowning though?" " I'd say that's an improvement," Cloverstar remarked, swimming closer so she could see more than just Oaktail's ears bobbing in and out of sight. He took a deep breath and, as he inhaled, his neck floated above the water. " I-is that what you mean about our bodies floating naturally?" He looked bewildered. " Okay... uh..." His eyes flicked between Cloverstar and Koisplash and he seemed to be struggling to say something for a moment. " I think... can you show me how to move forward again?" There was reluctance in his voice as he met Koisplash's eyes, as if he wished very much to instead say something else. She personally suspected he wanted to be done for the day, but maybe it was something more. His expression looked more determined than scared now. " When I tried to before, I pushed my muzzle into the water and swallowed water and it freaked me out. Could you show me again? I'll watch more closely this time." Cloverstar glanced at Koisplash again and waited, her interest in the MistClan warrior growing as she realized that, somehow, Koisplash had inspired this change of attitude in Oaktail. [attr="class","whatabout"] [attr="class","angels"] Life is like water If you block one side it takes other turns to continue its journey So don't stop your journey due to one failure [attr="class","wbascr"] Almost instantaneously after Koisplash pointed out a flaw in Cloverstar's swimming skills, the mademoiselle merely regretted it, feeling like she shunned her leader. Though her facial expressions hadn't budged, the thoughts within her crania churned, rendering slight trepidation in Koisplash's solar plexus. However, Koisplash believed it was the best for Cloverstar because if the damsel ever found herself projected by rapids, these little modifications in motion within the water would make a significant difference. The mademoiselle wouldn't have felt right if she didn't correct the opposing she-cat, considering it was for anyone's benefit to learn how to swim sufficiently. She wondered if Drizzlepaw had been cognizant of the dexterities shrouding the swimming skill, as she'd never entirely concentrated on the youthful molly. Sure, the youngster possessed a natural talent, but her haughtiness and exuberance made Koisplash presume she was an impetuous swimmer. She was influential in swimming and possibly one who would scare all the prey beneath the surface. Refocusing on the stalwart Bengal, Koisplash offered a nod, "Of course, it's in my best interest to make sure everyone is aware of the steps to swim with grace and efficiency." She'd be ashamed if she overlooked someone floundering with the movement, especially the one in charge; Cloverstar.
Koisplash monitored as Cloverstar corrected herself, an ensuring smile crossing the warrior's countenance as she met Cloverstar's intimidating viridescent visage. There was an anomalous depth in Cloverstar's gaze, which suggested she was more complex than an outside standpoint may consider her. Koisplash quickly averted her stare back to Oaktail, whom she had mistakenly raised her voice toward, to cease his thrashing, followed by softened, encouraging words. The warrior didn't want to discourage him, reminding herself that if she raised her voice too much, it could implement flaws or cause panic within him or anyone. Learning wasn't technically a straightforward procedure, and she was fully conscious of that, hence her dubiousness to be harsh. Unfortunately, she often lost patience if it became too much, but to her surprise, Oaktail loosened his physique and allowed himself to float. A soft chuckle escaped Koisplash's maw when the tomcat spat out some lakewater, a simper plastering amongst her countenance in confidence. "Wonderful job, Oaktail." She praised, flashing a glance toward Cloverstar. Another laugh left Koisplash's mandibles when Cloverstar commented. "I mean, that's certainly better than drowning." The molly remarked, shifting her vision to Oaktail.
"Yes, Oaktail, breathing allows you to float more; oxygen rises, for the most part." Koisplash stated, though not entirely confident in her response. She assumed from her personal experience in swimming, attaining knowledge shrouding the more-so hobby than skill. Oaktail appeared to have a different light in his eyes, though struggling to speak for a moment, eventually articulating that he wanted to understand better. He wanted to make another attempt. "I would love to show you again, Oaktail. I'm relieved to hear you want to try again; that's admirable. Hopefully, you can inspire others with this new attitude. A positive mind will assist in accomplishing bigger things." The warrior explained, maintaining eye contact with the tom as she communicated. It was more persuasive if she maintained eye contact with him, which she learned over time in her earlier youth. As a kit, Koisplash learned quickly about persuasion and manipulation. However, she used it for good interest. Cloverstar, on the other paw, Koisplash wasn't entirely convinced but nonetheless respected the MistClan leader. "Make sure to breathe through your nose, as you usually would, but make sure you're lax. Again, panic provokes you to sink because you unknowingly lose oxygen, causing you to forget to breathe."
And with that, Koisplash adjusted herself, moving closer to Oaktail's flank through the water. She remained about a tail-length away, barely inducing a surge in the water. She glanced at Oaktail, "I'll do it with you, paddle your left forepaw, followed by your right hindpaw, and then your left hindpaw, followed by your right forepaw." The damsel instructed, waiting for Oaktail to begin.
