Snake slowly padded along the edge of a rock before lightly jumping onto the ground again. He looked back at Birch as he did, though his eyes were constantly flickering up to look at the sky. They returned to Birch soon enough, constantly wondering if what he was seeing was somehow ever going to get used to the Tribe.
Oh she probably would get it, but he still found himself wary. Wary of the new Tribemate in his presence.
He eventually paused to ask, "What do you think? Where should we go?"
This was hard. He wondered how to fix that. It was hard to get his tone to balance. She was a member of the Tribe now. Fully. He couldn't just discount that, like it had never happened. Maybe that's why he needed to focus. He needed to keep his head here, if he was supposed to protect Birch should any problems occur.
He scanned the sky again, looking for anything, and then scanned the trail ahead. Leaving the main cave wasn't likely to cause too many problems just yet. At least that was a consolation.

His golden eyes watched as the tabby alternated between nimbly navigating the slope and scanning the skies for danger. It seemed as natural as breathing to him, but the rock felt sharp on Birch's softer pads. He was built for running on the open moor. The mountains were a whole other universe to him, and though he was not yet proficient at navigating it...

His breath was stolen away by the wind as he looked out across the place the Tribe called home. It was the most beautiful place he had ever seen, and he didn't think his heart would ever stop racing with admiration each time he saw it.

Snake's question startled him out of his daydreaming. "Oh!" Right... Even though Snake is in charge, I'm the prey-hunter here. I decide where I catch prey. The hierarchy was so different. It felt uncomfortable to be placed in a position of authority over someone so important. "I was thinking... Hidden Meadow?" He suggested. It was one of the few places he had memorised the names of, mainly because it was his new favourite place. He loved the fragrance, the abundant prey... and the fact that it sometimes reminded him of his birth home.</sup>
