[Ghost the Undead Goddess]

The fog was still lingering as the early morning sun still hesitated to completely rise above the walls of the surrounding mountainsides. It wasn't horrendous, but the low floating gray clouds made padding the edge of the moorlands just a little less auspicious. Despite the lack of wind there was still a pretty decent chill in the air as the weather continued to move through the beginning of Leafbare.

It was a quiet, still morning.

Something felt off, something that the ancient leader of Galeclan couldn't quite place her paw on as she led her patrol along the stony border of where the rolling plains met the crumbling mountain. The group of swift-footed felines had already passed the Flower Fields as they rounded out towards Fox Hill, and oddly enough it almost seemed like it got... quieter.

She could have sworn that up until recently the sounds of morning birds could be heard as they bounced around the tall grasses or flew overhead where the fog kept them shrouded.

The short, thin gray fur along Owlstar's shoulders started to prickle in discomfort and after a moment her whitening paws paused as she lifted her head in an attempt to taste the air. Everything was stale and stagnant, the lack of a breeze not alerting the aged queen to any sort of scent that might be deemed alarming. It was a rather unsettling feeling, especially with her gut practically pulling at her subconscious mind.

Shifting those wide amber eyes, Owlstar glanced over a narrow shoulder to the remainder of her group as the cats followed a pawful of strides behind her.

Her jaw parted ever so slightly as she went to meow something before a faint rustle caught her attention, she barely had time to whip her wedge shape head around towards the nearby shrubbery along the rocky mountain wall to hiss out a "Run!" before a large gray-brown body slammed into her much smaller frame. 

Pain exploded within her lanky form as she rolled legs over body across the grasses, the harsh scent of canine overwhelming her senses as if the stench was attempting to drown her. A ferocious yowl rose in the old molly's throat as she tried to twist and turn herself quick enough to mount some sort of defense against the offending creature. 

Owlstar barely had time to lay her sharp gaze of liquid amber upon the predator, his size making him larger than the red coated foxes that she was used too. There was an automatic lash of the leader's front paws, curled claws extended in an attempt to knock the coyote backwards before a fire ripped through her entire form. This time a screech parted her maw as fangs sank into the tender scar tissue of her shoulder and the warm feeling of drool and blood began to soak into her dilute fur.

Her paws left the ground as she flailed within the coyote's grasp, the sounds of her warriors yowling and snarling became vague within her ears. She didn't remember falling, but she faintly remembered the feeling of her body slamming against the ground as her vision blurred and faded into darkness. Her claws wriggled and her tail twitched as if she were attempting to pull herself out of it, but after a few struggling breaths the gray she-cat's body went still.
