Mousepetal - 25 Moons - Mistclan

"People may give up on you but you must never give up on yourself." ~Mousepetal
You had to be joking right? No worst pair could have been selected to be joined on a party to go out by themselves. She swore two will go out and only one will return. But she wasn't one to complain to leave the stuffy business of the camp site for a chance to travel their new territory. But by the stars of their ancestors did it have to be with him?! She shouldn't feel intimidated. She shouldn't feel anything when it came to this tom. But when she looked at him she found nothing but the tyrant with the big ego that he was as an apprentice. Of course, Mousepetal could not judge Roachflight for acting out the way he had. For trying to be bigger than he was and having such a ego on him because the family that he was born into wasn't the best. Just the remembrance of Blackstag still gave her the shivers. Perhaps the rusty warrior had changed since then? Or maybe not. She glanced at him at the corner of her eye. Looking up at him a little bit due to the size difference between him and her. She remembered when he used to bully her. How mean he could be and those harsh words that she could never wipe from her memory. She could tell from his walk he still had a big head but she'd watched him grow up; she knew some of that ego was well enough placed. He was a good warrior and a strong minded individual with ambition. That will never change and secretly it was something that she envied about him. Well, she used to at least when she was younger. she had a lot more confidence in herself now; not that he would see any potential in her. He probably didn't even remember her honestly. She never was one to make a big impact on anyone's life even when she was younger before everything happened. No one looked at her a second time except her mentor; rest in peace Starlingcry.
As they walked along she made sure to keep a distance from him. Not wanting to invade his space but at the same time keeping pace with him so that he did not leave her behind. Clearing her throat Mousepetal tried to start a civil confrontation. Polite as ever but she did not stutter or seem like the shy little kitten she once was.
"So, I was thinking we should go this way towards the lake." she said as they came across the forked path. Most patrols went the other direction but frankly Mousepetal felt more at peace along the water side despite her birth in Nightclan.
She looked up at the warrior seeing the distaste on his face at her suggestion and couldn't help that laugh that escaped her. Her chin tipped up a little bit and a look of cocky playfulness crossed her features as she lightly commented as if giving him a half hearted verbal jab. "Unless you're too much of a chicken to go to the Ambush Pond?" she gave a small spooky 'oooh'
She didn't wait for his reply though and instead took the lead down to the right. A pep in her step as she trotted along the muddy ground. It was cold and wet due to the mist off the lake that drifted into the foliage across their path. Mousepetal was determined for this unwanted reunion to not follow past's mistakes by allowing Roachflight to talk big and ruin her self-esteem. She was not going to be intimidated by him or pushed around like she used to as an apprentice. They were on the same team here right? So he better respect that and treat her as an equal. Although, perhaps she needed to earn that trust and title in his eyes. If Starlingcry taught her anything in her apprentice years is that if she wanted something or to become something she needed to push forward beyond her comfort zone and learn from her mistakes. Mousepetal had learned and she was still learning. But due to the merge of clans and the earthquake a lot of people have changed and the lives of everyone altered. She slowed her step to allow the other to catch up with her before she was glancing back up at him with a concerned look on her face.
"I never had a chance to ask before but how are you holding up with the merge and the construction with the new clan? Is it weird having another clan join ours? Have you made any allies from Rainclan?" she used the term ally instead of friend because frankly she didn't see Roachflight as having friends and even if he did have some it was a safer term to suggest in conversation.
