A thousand eyes were locked on the mouth of Skyteller's den when they appeared. Silverstar was the first to appear, and he cut a striking figure as he called out to the gathered cats. No beating around the bush. No coddling.
"StarClan has sent a sign, through Dewfrost. We are five Clans no longer; instead, we are MistClan, GorgeClan and GaleClan."
At once, a wave of voices and caterwauls filled up the cave like water, threatening to drown the gathered leaders and the bewildered Tribe cats.
"The new Clans will be filled with cats who want to live in each area - regardless of the Clan you were born in. Those that patrolled the valley can give you the details of each area. Cloverstar and I will be helping cats settle into the marshes, as MistClan." Silverstar flicked an ear towards the Bengal-marked she-cat. "Owlstar will help settle the moors as GaleClan. Whitehawk and Brackenstride will settle the gorge as GorgeClan."
The crowds were already whispering and talking amongst themselves - a sense of wide-eyed confusion and excitement rippling through like another aftershock.
"Remember you are warriors," said Silverstar. "Change is inevitable. StarClan has made it clear that we are meant to survive this - but only by adapting, not clinging to history. Choose where you and your loved ones go, carefully. Groups will be departing soon."
With that, Silverstar gave the floor over to Owlstar, to whom all of LightningClan was keenly looking at.
Owlstar Speaks
Owlstar let Silverstar speak, though only because he had chosen to speak for all leaders instead of just himself. Her tail was curled tightly around her nimble paws and her jaw was tight for a moment, though she brushed aside the surface feelings of annoyance to let her unreadable gaze of amber wash over the gathered cats.
She could see the fear in their gaze, the nervousness in their scent. Warriors were not known for taking change so easily, and this was something they would all have to come to accept as their life now. The clans were no longer five but three, and that meant merging and fusing.
Luckily, her clan didn't have to experience as much change but that didn't stop the eldest of the leaders from standing to address all those before her. Her raspy voice rose above the hushed quietness as she demanded respect with her intense hues. "Lightningclan is no more, but together we are Galeclan. The Moors have been mostly spared from the quake that changed the valley."
She could hear the breaths of relief from many of her clanmates, several looking overly relieved at that fact that their open skies and rolling hills still remained intact, even if the geography was changed to some extent. Galeclan still had a proper home to return to, and Owlstar was more than happy to lead her lean, fleet-footed warriors to their new territory.
"Those who wish to remain in Galeclan, and those who wish to seek a new life among us who, we will depart for our new home at dawn. Prepare to leave, say your goodbyes and remember this time of hardships and chaos as a time of growth. From five to one, and now it is time that one divided into three."
"Silverstar is right, we are warriors. Hold your heads high as we return to our home." With that being said the lanky gray she-cat shifted to let Cloverstar, Brackenstride or Whitehawk decide what to say next though the anticipation of returning home caused her whitening paws a prickling restlessness.
Cloverstar Speaks
Slipping back into the Tribe’s cave swiftly, Cloverstar noticed the heads of several cats swivel around wide-eyed as though she were a beast. She may as well be for some of them—any moment she could change their lives forever with an order, and change was a beast most cats seemed terrified of right now, during such a tumultuous time. For once, she could nearly empathize with that, allowing herself a single angry lash of her tail at the thought. She had just returned from a private meeting with her deputy, who had informed her in a rushed speech that she could no longer carry on her position. Cloverstar was not pleased. She’d thought Dapplefire had been faring well in her role, even though she’d never expressed ambition in her personality. That was part of why she’d chosen her—she didn’t need a deputy that thought she’d make a great leader, she needed a deputy that would be honest with her, and who could empathize with the Clan when she couldn’t. Dapplefire had filled that need for her, and abruptly having that space hollowed in her life had disturbed her more than she ever thought it would.
She caught sight of Shrikesong’s sleek pelt, not looking quite at her but not looking away as though lost in thought, and Cloverstar stared longingly after her. Come with me, she imagined herself saying, I’ll make you my deputy. I’ll make sure your kits are cared for. I’ll even put up with your fleabag of a mate. But Shrikesong had only been distracted, she turned back to whomever she’d been speaking with and the minute rejection was enough to make her angrily distance herself from it. She was so sick of this. When would she leave this StarClan-forsaken cave?
It was Owlstar that caught her attention then, flanked by Silverstar, Brackenstride, and Whitehawk, and she forced herself to straighten and reassume her role as a leader. In joining them, quiet spread throughout the gathered cats like a ripple until the cave was only echoing the sound of restless shuffling of paws. The new GaleClan leader addressed them first, inviting those who wished to live on the moors to join her when she departed the following day, and stepped back when she had finished.
Cloverstar stopped before the crowd of familiar faces and raised her chin and tail, her still and commanding presence immediately quieting those closest to her, and the quiet spread like a ripple through the cats. “At sunhigh, I will leave for the marshes, and I plan to build a camp out of the mossy hollow that was discovered by Dappl—MistClan’s patrol,” she cut off Dapplefire’s name sharply, earning a few bewildered looks from others, but she ignored them. “Anyone who wishes to settle in the marshes and build MistClan is welcome to join me, regardless of your Clan of origin. But please do not make this choice lightly—consider your reasons for coming with me, whether it is for kin, for friendship, for love… I will need the reason to be a powerful one, because it will fuel your loyalty to your new Clan and new Clanmates in a time they will need it the most.” She flicked her tail crossly as she watched Dapplefire rejoin the crowd, this time closer to many of the TreeClan cats. Cloverstar raised her voice so it carried clearly across the space, “I will not accept uncertain cats into my Clan. If you join another Clan today and wish to join MistClan later, you will find a harsh path lies ahead of you. But it’s still a path, and it will be there if you prove to me you have the resolve.”
Whitehawk Speaks
Despite the long conversation that took place within Skyteller's cave between himself and Brackenstride, Whitehawk and his golden-pelted companion still exited the cave along with the other three Leaders. Just as he had expected, there was no delaying what needed to be said. The massive combination of all five clans gathered before them, all ears and most eyes, waiting for answers. And another occurrence that came as no surprise, Silverstar was the first one to speak these answers.
He listened and watched the reactions that crossed the faces of those below at each Leader's words. The shock at Silverstar stating that they would all merge into three clans rather than five; the relief of the meadow-dwelling cats when Owlstar stated that their moors had not changed much; the tension in those who listened closely to Cloverstar and her brutally honest words of those who wished to join her and the future of Mistclan. It made him wonder what he could expect from those who remained among the gathered, though he wouldn't wait long, for they were next. He glanced briefly at his companion and nodded, turning and walking forward once Cloverstar had finished.
"Like the others, Stoneclan and Treeclan are no more. From this point forward the two of us will come together to create Gorgeclan. But this is not limited to only previous members of our two clans; anyone is free to join us, regardless of where you once were from." He found himself glancing between certain faces amongst the crowd, those who he knew would have more trouble than the rest. "When we do leave for our new home, as long as Skyteller has no objections, all of Gorgeclan's Elders, Queens, and Kits will remain here in the Tribe until we have fully secured our new camp. Our goal is three days, and then a patrol will be sent back here to bring everyone home."
He let his head turn, gaze landing on the cat next to him. He shared a look with the other tom before his singular eye found the crowd again.
"Unfortunately, GorgeClan does not have a Leader to guide us to our new home as the others do. Instead, to make up for this, myself and Brackenstride will be working together and serving as co-Deputies for GorgeClan until we are sent a sign." Given the loss of connection to StarClan, there was no telling when that day would be. But even still, having two temporary figures of authority was better than having none. And based on their previous conversation, he personally believed that he and Brackenstride would work well together.
With a flick of an ear, Whitehawk nodded briefly and turned his sights to his partner, allowing him to take his turn in speaking to the crowd.
Brackenstride Speaks
“Unlike the moorland group and the marshes group, anyone who wishes to settle into the gorge will not be leaving immediately. The way to where our camp should be can be… treacherous. So,” Brackenstride glanced at Whitehawk, bolstered by the reality that he did not have to stand here and face the masses alone. “While Owlstar and the others depart tomorrow, we will send a patrol to scout out the new camp and make sure the path is safe. Talk to me if you want to volunteer, after we’ve finished saying our piece.”
Already he was getting caterwauls of questions about the new camp’s safety, about the decisions, about how it wasn’t going to be so easy to simply give up their old ties. But Brackenstride knew they’d think differently when they actually saw the valley; saw how much it had changed, and how much of the old ways were well and truly gone. He swallowed down as much of his annoyance at their reactions as he could.
“Sagepaw and Ebonyheart will be joining us in GorgeClan.” Brackenstride did not clarify what had become of Falconstorm, and didn’t need to. The older healer had detached himself from TreeClan and seldom wandered from Kindleflare’s side for long, the old ginger she-cat the only one who gave him solace nowadays. “I will lead the patrol into the gorge to secure the way; Whitehawk will remain here in the Tribe to help the rest of us prepare to leave. GorgeClan will leave the Tribe the day after Cloverstar’s group does. Then as Whitehawk said, we will fetch our queens, kits and elders in the days following that.”
I’m not good at speaking to hearts like you were, Dad. But I’ll try. Through the tired solemnity of his expression, the golden tom showed open discomfort, stance shifting, throat clearing loudly as he attempted something like compassion. “Look, I… I know this is frightening. It’s going to shock you, what you see in the valley. But we can’t stay here in the Tribe’s cave forever. We have to take what we’ve been given and thrive. We’ve lost friends and family, we’ve lost our leaders - but we haven’t lost our Code. There’s enough of us, enough territory and enough prey for us to endure as we always have. This time, we’re doing it together.”
The younger tom turned to face Whitehawk, letting the silence stretch between them in case the co-deputy of GorgeClan had a few more words left.
Whitehawk Speaks
His heart was beating hard in his chest, but he did all he could to keep his posture straight and his face void of anxiety. With Bracken's words, the white tom let a tiny smile pull at the side of his maw, his tail briefly patting the other on the back before he turned back to the crowd again.
"This is going to be very hard, for all of us. But when has facing any challenge thrown at us been easy? We have all lived as 5 clans for so long, of course this big sudden change will shake us. But this is really a test. A test of what true strength is underneath our pelts. Our willpower and our resolve. All of this is going to be difficult, for all of us. But I know and believe that all of us working together, all of us putting all the effort we have forward, working as one clan rather than two…..we...Gorgeclan...can make it through anything."
A thousand eyes were locked on the mouth of Skyteller's den when they appeared. Silverstar was the first to appear, and he cut a striking figure as he called out to the gathered cats. No beating around the bush. No coddling.

TLDR:
Owlstar announces that she's claiming the moors and will build a camp from the Warren. She has invited cats from any Clan to join. Kindleflare (LightningClan meddie) and Nightrunner (NPC Deputy) will join the new GaleClan. GaleClan Deputy Auditions will be up soon.
Moors group will leave on the 26th, the morning after the exploration parties return.
Cloverstar announces she’s claiming the marshes and will build a camp from the Mossy Hollow. She has invited any cat from any Clan to join her. Shadowchaser and Rustpaw will be going with MistClan. Dapplefire, her deputy, privately relinquished her position and will be joining GorgeClan. This will cause some confusion and perhaps gossipy speculation about who the new deputy might be. They will not be appointed at moonhigh as per tradition, which could cause some conflict from superstitious/hardcore traditional cats, but the position will be unofficially filled by Silverstar until he gives back his lives.
MistClan Deputy Auditions will be up soon.
Marshes group will leave on the 27th, the day after Owlstar's group.
Brackenstride and Whitehawk will be co-deputies of GorgeClan until a sign from StarClan sets the record straight. Falconstorm has chosen to go to GaleClan, whereas Sagepaw and Ebonyheart will go with GorgeClan. A patrol will leave on the 26th to secure the Gorge Plateau as GorgeClan's new camp; they will return on the 28th, when the rest of the GorgeClan group will depart for the Gorge proper.
All Clans are expected to have collected their elders, kits and queens by the 2nd of Leaf-fall.
Time is officially UNFROZEN, members can now roleplay their characters during the departure (in the Post-Quake thread), and they can now roleplay their characters in real time, Leaf-fall days 1 - 3 in the appropriate Clan boards! A new condensed Calendar can be found in quick links.
