Name: Finchcloud
Age: 57 moons
Gender: Tom
Clan: TreeClan
Rank: Warrior
Picture:
Description: In size, Finchcloud isn't really one to stand out; TreeClan cats seem to quite commonly turn out large and muscular. His color is a bit more uncommon, the bright ginger base with reddish markings a sharp contrast to the brown or black pelted among his Clan. His fur is thick and long, even down his legs and on his paws, tufts of fur sprouting from between his toes. Only his muzzle has a splash of white, and his nose is pink; long whiskers erupt from his skin in a chaotic pattern, curling at the ends. His eyes are a golden color, bright and often gleaming with good humor. A thin spike of fur rises from the tip of both ears, and white inner ear fur grows past the edges. He has scars, as is typical for any Clan cat, but except for those on his face, most are well hidden beneath his pelt.
His form would be lent well to battle- if Finchcloud were that sort. Of course he will if he must, but violence against others is a chore for him, not something to be looked forward to. His weight makes his paw steps a bit heavier, which means he must be extra careful while hunting, but he's had moons of practice in moving noiselessly among TreeClan's forests.
Description Summary: Large ginger tom with amber eyes
Personality: Finchcloud is a happy cat. He tries hard to get along with everyone, even cats from outside the Clan- barring NightClan, because they're all just bad news- and sometimes this open friendliness can get him in trouble. He's not the brightest cat, finding himself led astray by smooth words and a confident personality, but at the core of him his heart is pure, and he only wants the best for his Clan and family. A Clan cat through and through, Finchcloud will never hesitate to throw himself into battle on behalf of a Clanmate, despite his dislike of hurting anyone. Fierce loyalty- and sometimes blind loyalty- drives him to support any cat of his Clan.
He doesn't stop and think nearly as much as he ought to about his actions, and it's led to trouble in the past. He truly doesn't mean the negative impact it has on relationships, he sometimes just- blurts things out before realizing how rude or off-putting it may be. And sometimes he misses what others might notice, too wrapped up in his own visions and dreams of a perfect future to heed warnings.
Very much family oriented, Finchcloud tries to spend a little time every day with the cats he adores. His parents, his brother, and Gorsetail; they are all incredibly important to him and he wishes he could keep them forever... he hates watching time take its toll on his mother and father and mentor and very much dreads the day they won't be around any more. Not for seasons yet, he hopes, but makes a point to take every second he can with them regardless, because nobody can know for sure.
Always ready to crack a joke or laugh at someone else's, Finchcloud is quite the socialite. You'll never find him skulking in a shadowy corner somewhere, avoiding the crowd; he likes to be right in the heart of it, chattering away with anyone, kit or elder. Even to strangers, so long as he doesn't think they're a threat; he'll greet them as warmly as any TreeClan cat.
On the other paw, he's a bit sensitive. He doesn't mind being laughed at if he tells a joke or something, but laughter at his expense stings, and it shows. Finchcloud has never been the sort to hide his emotions; you'll know what he's feeling the moment you catch sight of him, but even on the rare occasions he's upset, it's easy enough, if you know him, to say or do the right thing to boost his mood once more.
History: Though his father was a loner, Finchkit and his brother Thornkit were TreeClan born and raised. They were nurtured by both Silentsong and Zephyrfang, and the depth of love shared between mates and shown to the young toms has left its mark on him. He grew up ever happy, kithood days spent secure in the knowledge that tomorrow would bring more of the same and looking forward to it with zeal. He flourished under the loving care of his parents and was nearly inseparable from Thornkit in his earliest moons.
Becoming an apprentice was a bit of a rude awakening, even as he hurled himself into it with the same gusto. He was all too happy to boast that he was the deputy's apprentice, because what an honor it was! Not that Thornpaw's mentor was any less important, being the Clan leader himself- a moment spared to be jealous, because why couldn't it have been the other way around?- before he was being led off to begin long moons of training. He'd hardly begun when greencough swept through the Clan, killing a great many cats, but those who survived picked themselves up and carried on in the aftermath.
His apprenticeship passed quickly enough; a keen learner- at some times, too keen- Finchpaw learned what he needed to know to be a contributing member of the Clan, and in time he stood alongside his brother, Ravenpaw, Fawnpaw and Berrypaw as they were given their warrior names. He wasn't entirely sure of his own at first- Finchcloud? It felt like an odd choice for Lionstar to make- but still, it was proof that he'd made it, and the name marked his rise to warrior. He got used to it in time.
He was surprised to be picked as a mentor before too long, and he was determined to prove he could do this well; the training of apprentices was a skill of itself. Yewpaw, fortunately, was equally willing to be taught, as clever and quick to learn as he was to teach, and they got along well.
Gorsetail's sudden injury- gained by the unprovoked attack by a NightClan cat- forced his early retirement, and Pumafang stepped up to fill the role. For a short time Finchcloud feared his mentor would die as a result, but he pulled through... not the same cat as he had been, but still undeniably Gorsetail, the cat who'd taught him everything he knew and who deserved not to be forgotten because of an accident that wasn't his fault. Finchcloud visits him often, keeping strong the bond that formed during his moons of apprenticeship.
He was proud to give his approval of Yewpaw at her own warrior ceremony, and to listen as she was given her name: Yewfang. Fitting for the fiery she-cat. Less than a season later, however, Yewfang was killed. Grief for the sudden end to a promising life and the death of his first apprentice so soon after her ceremony dragged Finchcloud's mood down, and for a short time his training of his newest apprentice, Robinpaw, suffered for it. But time and family helped, and the fact that he couldn't let Robinpaw fall behind even though he was grieving the loss; his first training sessions were rough, but having something to focus on did help.
What pulled Finchcloud from his mourning, more than anything, was NightClan's attack on their camp. Made under the cover of darkness, when the whole of TreeClan was sleeping... Finchcloud fought to defend the camp as best he could, hardly pausing until the enemy had been driven off, and not learning of the attempt on Gorsetail's life until the news trickled through to him. As if injuring him wasn't bad enough. But the cat who had attacked Gorsetail was dead and the camp safe once more.
Robinflight joined the ranks of warriors in time, and the moons slid by relentlessly. Greenleaf to leafbare, seasons marked by hunger or relentless heat, litters born and cats dying, apprentices and warriors named...
Lionstar's death shook the whole of TreeClan, even as they recognized his sacrifice to bring safety to all the Clans. Demon had been a constant danger since well before Finchcloud had been kitted, but no more. Vigil was held, and Pumastar went to receive his nine lives... naming his own deputy in turn.
But Pumastar's own reign was short, and Finchcloud is still uncertain of the circumstances surrounding the big tom's death. All he knows is that it happened during the earthquake, so it must have been related to it. Not that it truly matters. Mossheart is holding the Clan together for now, as TreeClan shelters at the Tribe's cave, picking up what remains of their shaken lives and waiting to see just what waits for them in the days to come.

Other:
- Had a short fling with Lionstar's daughter Ivyclaw, but it fizzled and died
- Was paranoid and a bit panicked about Robinflight in the moons following her warrior ceremony, fearing losing her as he'd lost Yewfang, but this has mostly passed
- Hugely intimidated by Pumastar's personality and tried to avoid interacting with him as much as possible
