Name: Hailkit > Hailpaw > Hailstrike
Age: 28 moons
Gender: she-cat
Clan: StoneClan
Rank: Warrior
Picture: Click
Description: Hailstrike appears small, an image not helped by her short, somewhat thin fur. She is on the thin side, often choosing to go hunt instead of eating a meal, since eating to her is only a means to stay alive. Walking at a brisk pace, Hailstrike moves easily on long legs, a fairly long tail often flicking in the air behind her. Large ears are always alert to any sign of danger, and clear, ice blue eyes often pin others with a neutral, if not slightly cold, look. Her fur is a light gray, appearing amost dusted with snow in the right light and covered with brown spots. White fur dominates her chest and the inside of her forelegs, as well as the bottom half of her face, which barely breaks into a smile. Her left foreleg often bothers her come leaf-bare and will randomly give way on her, though that doesn't happen often.
Description Summary: An average sized, light gray she-cat with brown spots, short fur, and ice blue eyes.
Personality: Either Hailstrike does something very well or she doesn't do it at all; she doesn't have a half way mark. The she-cat pushes herself very hard and sets the bar extremely high for herself, almost to the point where she never makes it. For her sake, it is good when Hailstrike meets her high expectations; otherwise she will criticize herself and then push herself even harder, regardless of whether or not her body can take it. She tries her best at whatever she does and she must do it perfectly or else it's not worth the effort. Productivity is important; relaxing is wasted time that could be spent hunting or patrolling. A thirst to prove herself drives her, not a hunger for power, for status means nothing to her. Her dream of being the best warrior of StoneClan is very real to her, and she lives by the Warrior Code, as her loyalties completely lie with the clan and no one or nothing else. Due to this, Hailstrike can come off as cold and stern to her clanmates.
Without knowing her history, Hailstrike has an odd set of fears. She fears falling objects and loud noises, though this is due to her experience with a rockslide. She also fears becoming useless or like any of her siblings, which would disappoint herself and her clan. However, Hailstrike has kept this knowledge buried deep within her and very few, if any, know it. This is a proud warrior, who wants to become the strongest feline in StoneClan by minimizing fears and getting rid of weaknesses. However, Hailstrike cannot get rid of weaknesses she does not see. The she-cat does not realize that she would work herself to death or that her unwillingness to bend her neck and accept any help might be the death of her. She hates admitting any weaknesses; however, her willingness to sacrifice herself, should it be needed, for the good of her clan is almost scary.
Though she spends all of her time either hunting or on patrols or doing something else productive, Hailstrike has learned to appreciate her solitude and privacy. Clan life is nice and she will tolerate any kits brave enough to approach her, but she enjoys her peace and quiet.
History: Hailstrike's parents were not the most responsible cats. They preferred going off and doing their own thing, placing fun over work. When Icefur learned that she was expecting, they said that they would change and their kits would grow up to be responsible. And they did, for a short while, before falling back into a shadow of their old habits. That's not to say that Icefur and Leopardfang were horrible parents to Hailkit, Ashkit, Pebblekit, and Cloudkit. Icefur had to stay in the nursery with the kits, so Leopardfang would come around and they would talk of their past adventures. Avidly, the kits listened, thinking that this life was the norm.
Like the rest of them, Hailkit was interested with these stories, but compared with the ones the elders told, she wasn't very impressed with her parents'. Her siblings did not share her opinion; instead, they idolized their parents, to varying levels. Impervious to Icefur's and Leopardfang's effects, Hailkit waited for their apprentice ceremonies, an odd mixture of dread and excitement growing in her gut. Finally, it came.
Pebblepaw, to whom Hailpaw was closest, was the most reasonable and tolerable out of all of them. The spotted gray apprentice at least put some effort in, though Hailstrike later expected that that was for her sake instead of for the good of the clan; otherwise, she was as reckless and fun-loving as their parents. Ashpaw showed his uselessness very early on, completely distracted by his looks and by she-cats. Cloudpaw was even worse, for he preferred to lay around instead of work. It became obvious to Hailpaw that they would not amount to anything in life, and she wanted to be different, better than they were. From the beginning of her apprenticeship, she set very high expectations for herself, perhaps unreasonably high, and made it her goal to live up to them.
Owlclaw never questioned his apprentice's unusually strong drive, either he understood the motivation behind it or he never gave it a second thought. However, the two got along fairly well, and Owlclaw taught Hailpaw everything he could. And then disaster struck. A rockslide, common in StoneClan's territory, tumbled down the slope toward their little group of two. Owlclaw, who had been following his apprentice at a distance, received the full force of it, while Hailpaw was at the edge of the rock fall's range and was only injured. Still, she spent a few moons in the medicine cat's den, healing from various cuts and scrapes and a broken bone in her left foreleg. It was a combination of luck and her resiliance that it healed fairly well and allowed her to become a warrior, though the ceremony was delayed.
Owlclaw had died from the rockslide that day, but Hailpaw had been nearing 12 moons. For the last few weeks, once she got out of the medicine cat's den, she was assigned a new mentor, Leafheart. The she-cat was a weak little thing, pitying Hailpaw and always asking how she was doing; Hailpaw despised her questions and despised her. Time seemed to drag, and she no longer enjoyed training sessions, for they were really just reaquanting her with her paws and interrogation sessions.
At 13 moons, Hailpaw became Hailstrike. Her siblings had received their names on time, but apart from her sister, the new warrior tends to avoid them. She has been a successful warrior for about a season. Her left foreleg, which had suffered the blow, bothers her occasionally, though she would never admit it.
