Leaf-fall 11, 7
A half moon peeks out over the valley between dull clouds passing too and fro and heavy winds continue to blow down from the mountains.
Strong winds blew down from the mountains as the group of Stoneclanners made their way from home, journeying towards the Moon Tree as the Medicine Cats met up for their own, special meeting. Normally, only a few cats made the walk at a time, but with the news of a female lynx and kits, several warriors were selected to accompany the red healer and his black coated apprentice. The she-cat, though young, was already larger than her mentor's form as her wide, flat paws maneuvered her through the stones and cracks of the sloping mountainside. Her mother, Rabbitfur, moved silently along side her as Silverglade, Crimsonshadow and Viperstrike trailed behind, their eyes and ears open for any sort of forgeign scent or movement. Despite the slightly disturbing news of monstrous mountain cats, there was a small glimmer of excitement within Sandblaze's gaze whenever he occasionally glanced back at his young apprentice, though Ebonypaw had no idea what was on his mind. She kept up her composure however, sure that her mentor would inform her when it was time.
Attending with them: Rabbitfur, Silverglade, Crimsonshadow, Viperstrike.
He was silent this time, not bothering to talk with his escorts as they each ate the strengthening herbs and left the safety of camp. He was too focused on trying to find an apprentice, someone that fit what he needed and wouldn't drive him crazy with endless chatter. If he had to have an apprentice, it had to be someone he could at least tolerate. But he was looking forward to seeing Kindleflare this time, he hadn't had the chance to see her in awhile. The she-cat soothed him, and she was one of the few outside his clan he could safely call a friend. He'd picked Sunwind and Deerstorm this time, mostly at random, and left camp at a decent pace. Once they arrived he'd leave them behind and head to join the others, finally somewhere where the worries of war could be ignored for a short time.
Attending with him: Sunwind, Deerstorm.
With her coat fluffed up against the continued onslaught of wind from the mountains, LightningClan’s medicine cat leads a quiet procession to the Moon Tree. Dark amber eyes glance warmly to Tigereye as the pair chatter idly, trailed by escorts Galestorm, Mudpelt, and Eaglescreech. Clouds still hang in the sky, but stars find patches of clear sky to shine down upon the traveling group. Quickening the pace slightly as the cavern draws into view, the LightningClan healer team is eager to reach and interact with the other Clan medicine cats once again.
Attending with them: Galestorm, Mudpelt, Eaglescreech.
For the first time in many seasons, Shadowchaser is left wondering if tonight's trek could be better spent gathering herbs. NightClan must make an attendance at this season's meeting, though. Darkstar would turn her disapproving, fiery eye upon them if they made NightClan look weak for any reason. Plodding through the cool forests and shadowy plains, Shadowchaser and Smokefur arrive at the cavern of the moon tree. They dismissed their guards a few foxlengths from the cavern mouth. Shadowchaser prayed for the fragile truce to hold; Darkstar may not see it that way, but NightClan fighting with TreeClan's escorts would bring more trouble than it was worth.
Attending with them: Sablefoot, Thornscar, Nettleheart, Buckfur.
Dewfrost arrives to the Moon Tree with a somber look on her features. Greenleaf was not kind to RainClan and many lives were lost. Since the flood she had been running herself ragged trying to restore her entire herb stock that had been washed away, preparing for leaf-bare. Part of her hadn’t even wanted to attend tonight when there was still so much to do, but she knew her role in healing her Clan’s connection to StarClan was just as important. So she had put together a scant collection of traveling herbs for her escort and gone without herself, parting from the four warriors to join her peers as they reached the sacred cavern.
Attending with her: Snowstorm, Berrybreeze, Falconheart, Sunripple

Ebonyheart, Livin' in ruins of a palace within my dreams The young apprentice gave a nod of greeting towards the others as each clan's healer made their way together. The Moon Tree was out of sight, but waiting for each cat to come and rest among it's stark white roots, to be swept away within dreams to meet with those who walked among Starclan.
Pale green pools brightened slightly as Tigereye and Falconstorm's forms grew closer, the youngest of the healers found that she got along rather well with both toms. The red form of Sandblaze sat patiently at the entrance that led towards the white tree, his tail wrapped around his paws and gaze noting each cat that came into view.
There was a small smile on the tom's muzzle as he waited for everyone to quiet down before standing and capturing their attention with a sweep of his tail. The wind buffeted his fluffy fur, similar to the way it pulled at Ebonypaw's lengthy black pelt, but he stood strong despite the element.
"Before we continue and meet with Starclan, there is something I'd like to do first." He turned his head towards his ward as the black feline stood with a slight glimmer of curiosity within those pale green eyes, her tail nub wriggling slightly. "Ebonypaw, I believe it is time for you to become a full Medicine Cat."
His words were soft, a rumble within his chest as Sandblaze acknowledged the slightly larger Stoneclanner, beconing her forwards with the tip of his tail. Ebonypaw moved forwards on those wide, flat paws of her as excitement buzzed within her form. She tried hard to control herself, though the bright light within her eyes clearly have away her bubbling emotions.
Though she wished Rabbitfur could be there to witness this moment, she was pleased to know her mother was waiting at the foot of the mountain with the other escort warriors. There would be time after meeting with Starclan for her to enjoy the moment with the black and white senior warrior.
There was a look of pride splashed across the older tom's face as he looked at his grown apprentice, absolutely amazed with her growth and studious nature within the last ten moons under his tutalage. He was still young, but he was pleased to know that Stoneclan would have a capable cat if something were to happen to him.
"I, Sandblaze, Medicine Cat of Stoneclan ask Starclan to look down upon this apprentice as she starts her new journey as a full fledged Medicine Cat. She has trained hard to learn our code, to care for her cats and to learn all she can within her abilities and I commend her on her heart and soul." The fluffy red tom lifted his head to look at the faint starts twinkling amongst the cloudy, dark sky above before returning his gaze to Ebonypaw.
"Ebonypaw, do you promise to uphold our code, to heal and serve your clanmates as Medicine cat to the best of your ability?"
"I do." It was simple, easy. The black she-cat had lived most of her life within the den with Sandblaze, learning from not only her own mentor but also from Falconstorm, from Kindleflare and Tigereye, from Skyteller in the tribe. Her curiosity with healing knowledge was never satisfied but she knew it was the place she needed to be in.
Dawnpaw's returning sight was a big stepping stone for her. She had believed with her whole heart he would see again, and with Starclan's blessing he once against had his vision after his accident.
The smile with still present on Sandblaze's face, the look of pride and affection growing as he continued his ceremony, "Then by the power invested in me, given by Starclan, I now present you with your new name: Ebonyheart. I hope you continue to grow and learn and give it your all. Be proud of who you are and what you have accomplished already." He stepped forwards to lay his head upon hers despite the small height difference.
When she dipped her head to lick his shoulder, he whispered into her ear, "I'm so very proud of you, Ebonyheart." Stepping back, the newly named feline stood with her head high as she soaked in the pride of her ceremony and name.

Falconstorm was quiet, making sure he paid attention and responded appropriately. Really, he wanted less and less to come here, but as the sole medicine cat of TreeClan he had a duty to keep coming, to keep comuning, to just keep moving forward. Eventually, he'd convince himself that this was the right path and be content with it. Eventually, he'd forgive StarClan and start being able to speak with them again without feeling so resentful all the time. But today was about a newcomer to their ranks, an apprentice becoming fully trained and fledged into their world. He could only smile and call out to her. "Congratulations Ebonyheart, I'm sure you'll do great things for your clan. Just remember, no matter how long you've been a medicine cat, its okay to still ask questions. That's why we gather hear each season, to commune and share with each other and with StarClan." Fawn @zen BlooRey DVD Taxx Ghost the Undead Goddess

curiosity is not a sin... ...but we should exercise caution with our curiosity Shadowchaser Shadowchaser's body filled with warmth on this cool, leaf-fall night, sharing in his fellow medicine cats' joy as one more apprentice joined the ranks. "Congratulations Ebonyheart, and congratulations Sandblaze." He purred to both cats, wanting to acknowledge Sandblaze's teachings as well as Ebonyheart's successes. He and Sandblaze had been apprenticed around the same time, and they'd both been brought into the world of medicine with wide eyes, open hearts, and a need to look out for others.
A tiny part of Shadowchaser yearned to know what that was like: to confidently impart wisdom upon a younger generation. To train someone to take his place, his responsibilities. Breezekit--now Breezepaw--came to Shadowchaser's mind, and he purred harder at memory of his little niece. She had been a breath of fresh air (a breeze if you will) in dark times. I'll ask Crowflame if she wouldn't mind I gave Breezepaw another lesson.
It obviously wasn't his time to even think about taking on an apprentice of his own (Shadowchaser gulped guiltily, as if he half-suspected Smokefur might be able to read his thoughts), but he'd be lying to himself if he said he didn't enjoy sharing parts of his world with Breezepaw. And Newtstripe. It helped blur those sharp, prickling insecurities that came with having three powerful warrior sisters who had carved a path for themselves with tooth and claw.
Shadowchaser glanced around expectantly, should another medicine cat step forward to deliver news or perform a rite. Ebonyheart had been the only apprentice left, but Shadowchaser maintained his position at Smokefur's side; he'd let a more senior healer decide if it was time to move to the moon tree or not. medicine cat of nightclan BlooRey DVD @zen Ghost the Undead Goddess Justice @poptart | jk rowling | background image | table by phoenix

[smear:f78216]Kindleflare[/smear:f3e4d7] ~~~~~~~~~
From her seat next to Falconstorm, the ginger and white medicine cat couldn't help the warm purr that reverberated in her chest the moment Sandblaze stepped forth to interrupt them. They had been moments away from ducking into the security of the familiar cavern, when the StoneClan medicine cat had rallied their attention with a wave of his tail. Having had the privilege of performing one of these ceremonies herself, the LightningClan healer knew very well what was next to come. Her deep amber gaze shifted from the lighter coated healer, to his dark furred apprentice.
Kindleflare's smile would make one think that Ebonypaw was her apprentice, and not that of another Clan. Remaining quiet so as to let Sandblaze perform the ceremony, the ginger medicine cat did shift to butt her shoulder happily to Falconstorm's, turning her delighted smile to him. Repeating the gentle touch to Tigereye on her other side, she was brought back briefly to when he'd been given his name not too long ago. It had been one of the proudest moments of her life, and briefly she wondered if Sandblaze felt the same. Surely he did.
Unable to help herself, she ducked her head to rasp her tongue over a stray piece of Tigereye's fur, near his left ear, her purr still strong in her chest. As the ceremony closed, Kindleflare shifted her attention to Ebonypaw, now Ebonyheart, and smiled warmly. "C-Congratulations, E-Ebonyheart. You a-are well d-deserving of your n-name, and we w-welcome you as a f-full medicine c-cat! R-Remember, it is n-never t-too late to l-learn, f-full m-medicine c-cat or not. D-Don't be s-surprised if y-you f-find you s-still don't a-always h-have the a-answer r-right away. R-Right, T-Tigereye?" She mewed, glancing back at her own apprentice as her tail draped gently over his shoulders.
Oh what a joyous day it was.

In the moons since Kindleflare had given him his name, things hadn’t really felt much different than they were when he’d still been a ‘paw, and he was actually pretty grateful for it. He may have learned enough to earn his name but he was still Kindleflare’s apprentice, he could still rely on her. Even if he found he needed to rely on her less and less, it was still comforting to know he wasn’t on his own just because he’d gotten his full name. And StarClan willing he wouldn’t be on his own for many moons to come.
The trip to the Moon Tree was familiar, the overall mood light hearted. LightningClan had been doing quite well recently. The Clan was healthy, well fed, and in general good spirits. When they parted from their escort, Kindleflare made her way toward Falconstorm and Tigereye followed his mentor, though he paused to greet Ebonypaw warmly before settling beside his mentor. When Sandblaze caught their attention, Tigereye’s ears pricked with interest and he grinned at Ebonypaw as her mentor announced that she was ready to be a full medicine cat.
“Ebonyheart!” he called with the others, purring, and at Kindleflare’s words to the StoneClan she-cat he ducked his head a bit, agreeing, “Of course. There’s so much to learn, and you get chances to learn new things unexpectedly.” He sobered a little at the admission, because when a medicine cat had a chance to learn something new, it often meant something bad had happened to another cat, but he did his best to shake it off, stepping forward to touch his nose affectionately to Ebonyheart’s cheek, “Ebonyheart is a great name. Congratulations.”

Once the ceremony was over Falconstorm butted up to the newly named Ebonyheart and gave her a gentle headbutt before going to assume his usual dreaming spot next to Kindleflare. He wondered what terrors StarClan would show him this time, since the last time he'd lain under these hallowed branches he'd seen the flood that destroyed two clan camps and swept one of TreeClan's own away. Too many lives had been lost because StarClan liked to be cryptic. He was sure they would show him nothing if it wasn't just his voice to carry their words on to his clan. Even if they had chosen Lionstar, in the end it was always the medicine cat that was the closest to StarClan. A pity. He curled up and closed his eyes, not expecting a pleasant experience at all. It never was. [and now a surprise visit from Bluejay!] When Falconstorm welcomed sleep and stepped into his dream, he would be standing alone. The air around him would feel cold, empty, perhaps suffocating, and it would appear as though nobody waited to receive him, but he need only squint into the blackness, stare into the farthest recesses of his dream, and then he would be able to see her. Even though her back was turned, her blue-grey fur was unmistakable. If that would not be enough for Falconstorm to recognize her from afar, then he need only approach. Her gentle aura, the kindness that she breathed into life, warmed the air around her like a sauna. She would speak when he was within earshot, calling to him from over her shoulder, and even though he could not yet see her face he would be able to hear her smile as his name fell off her tongue. “Falconstorm.” Her news was grave, and StarClan forbade her to forget her purpose for even a moment, but Bluejay would always greet her family, those from within – and sometimes even out – of TreeClan who she loved, treasured, missed. Falconstorm would finally be able to see her face when he reached her side as she turned to look him in the eyes. Her whiskers quivered excitedly at the familiar sight of him, but her eyes lacked their positive glow. She faced frontwards once more, beckoning with a shuddering jut of her chin for him to follow where she looked. Suddenly, they were sitting in TreeClan forest. The leaves varied from yellow to orange, to darker orange, to murky brown, and then finally to red. One of the latter was clipped from its branch and floated gracefully to the ground, landing between them, and she traced its descending dance with a sad expression. “There has been too much bloodshed in our forest.” Bluejay gently laid a paw on top of the leaf and slid it to the side, revealing that it had never been red at all, but a murky brown, almost black. The blood was slick against the pad of her paw, and she regarded it with palpable melancholy. “I wish with all of my heart for there to be another way.” Suddenly, her eyes found his, and perhaps he would know from simply that. Bluejay wore the heart she spoke of on her sleeve, bare to all whom needed it in her life, and not even StarClan could numb the ache she felt towards violence. Without warning, half of TreeClan’s forest fell into darkness. No single shape was discernible from the inky black, and it was slowly encroaching. Bluejay glanced at it, and the fur along her spine stood straight as pins unbidden before she ushered the images to disappear. Before long, she and Falconstorm were back where they began. “Time is of the essence. TreeClan cannot afford to wait any longer for a peace that isn’t coming.” The dream was slipping, and Bluejay could sense that time here, as well, was of the essence. Her tail curled across Falconstorm’s large paws with a thump, drawing her face closer to his. “You must be careful. You must look out for one another. I repeat, there has been too much bloodshed in our forest. There has been too much –” The nonexistent sky in Falconstorm’s dream seemed to roll and crackle in an unspoken warning. Bluejay was close to overstepping as they knew she would and, although it required every ounce of her strength, she took a deep breath and pulled away from him. “Violence is not my way, it is not my answer, but neither is any more needless death.” She sincerely hoped that it was not his, not Lionstar’s, not TreeClan’s or even NightClan’s. What happened next was for the living to decide. TreeClan had StarClan’s blessing to take this matter into their own paws – and Bluejay’s to do as much as necessary, but not a hair more. ------------------ Falconstorm snapped awake and realized he was crying, his mentor's name on his lips and feeling like his heart had been ripped out all over again. Why was the first time he'd seen her in forever, the first time they let her come to see him, when the clan was in terrible danger? They were on the brink of war, and now StarClan was pushing for it. Blood in the forest, lives on the line. TreeClan couldn't afford to be peaceful any longer, to wait. Shaken and confused the large tom scooted over and laid his head on Kindleflare's rump, hoping to console himself with the she-cat that reminded him very much of Bluejay. @poptart Fawn BlooRey DVD@zen Ghost the Undead Goddess
