Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains The old tom's pale amber eyes fell from the sky as the call of distant thunder died away. He flicked his tail thoughtfully, meeting his son's bright green gaze with his own. Concern regarding the apparent impending weather, foretold by gray skies and far off rumbles, weighed heavy on his tongue, but the black tom before him didn't seem to mind. With a crooked and easy going grin, Vipertail stepped forward to prod the StoneClan figurehead with his dark nose.
"Come on, Pa! When did you ever let a little weather get in your way?" He goaded gently.
With a rumbling chuckle and a roll of his eyes, the aging tom swatted at his son playfully with a large paw. "Alright, alright. The weather should hold off long enough anyway. After all, it has been a while since we've spent time as a family, hasn't it?" He rasped, ignoring the weight in his chest knowing they would be missing a face who should have been here. StarClan, let Minkfire be okay. He prayed silently, watching as Vipertail bounced excitedly once, waving his long ebony tail. Before Hawkstar could manage more, the younger tom was already racing away, calling over his shoulder.
"I'll go get Mom, and the girls! We'll have a great family get together, just you wait! I'll bring the prey!"
Shaking his head with a soft scoff, the sandy brown tom lowered age-weary bones to a seat. Whiskers twitched on his silvering muzzle as his eyes flicked out toward he rest of the Clan in time to catch another familiar face blinking somewhat confused. Perhaps confused wasn't the right word... Kestrelclaw looked lost, as though his plans had been disturbed by what had just transpired. Noticing the prey dangling from his nephew's jaws, and the trajectory of his paws that looked as though it would have taken him directly to Hawkstar, the old tom made an educated guess.
With a warm smile, and a beckoning of his tail, the StoneClan figurehead called out. "You are as much my son as Vipertail is, Kestrelclaw. There is more than enough room for both you and your sister in this gathering. Do me the honor of joining us for the afternoon, hm?" He rumbled, tail indicating the spot before him. Although the weather might not have been a beautiful and sunny day, the air wasn't biting cold yet. Beneath the looming figure of the Rock Pile, they were sheltered from any gusting wind.
It made for a rather comfortable meeting spot, perfect for an impromptu family gathering. It had been too long since he'd been able to just... Exist with those he was lucky enough to call family.
If you could see them now, Eagletalon... You would be proud. leader of stoneclan and may you have the courage to scale their summits background image | harley king | Fawn Taxx | table by phoenix

Snowfeather T e l l m e, who wants to look back on their years and w o n d e r where those years have g o n e ? Crouched outside the warriors' den, soaking up warmth through her thick fur, Snowfeather had been aware of Hawkstar and Vipertail the moment the two had come into view. Her lanky brother's call was hardly subtle, and at the open invitation (as if she'd needed it) Snowfeather bounced to her paws and scurried toward her father. She paused in front of him, dwarfed but not minding that at all, and reared up on her hind legs. A quick bump of her nose against his and then she encircled his neck with her forepaws, purring loudly as she stroked her cheek against his jaw.
She dropped back to his side as Kestrelclaw approached and Meadowflight slid from the warriors' den, leaning into his side so that if he moved too suddenly, she'd have gone sprawling. A friendly whisk of her tail at the tawny tom, who was as close a relative as to be just like a brother, and then she glanced back at her father. "What are we doing, Dad? Are we going out or sitting here?" It didn't matter, not really. She'd be happy with either option, so long as she was with family.

'No Frozenrain, I'm afraid we haven't seen her.' Said their neighbors.
'We'll keep an eye out. If we find her, you'll be the first to know.' Said the Tribe.
But she did know; she knew that Minkfire did not wish to be found, and that knowledge chilled her worse than any leafbare wind. It was a truth that settled bone deep, wearying her with every passing day Minkfire's absence was felt. Hawkstar had ten moons on her, but Frozenrain's body seemed intent upon catching up.
When a gleaming black-coated tom poked his head into Hawkstar's den, Frozenrain found the strength to straighten her posture from the quiet slump - fast enough, perhaps, that her son did not notice she'd been mourning in the first place. "You look unusually bright-eyed, are you up to something?" Frozenrain purred. Though they smiled at one another, and there was a warmth there that eased some of the matriarch's ache, Vipertail's unspoken apology hung in the air, fine as mist. I haven't found her yet, Mom.
"Dad, the girls and I are all hanging out together. Obviously we can't have any real fun until you join us." Vipertail returned her purr, leaning across the gap between their bodies to brush the top of his head against her chest. Frozenrain swept her tongue between her kit's ears, smoothing down an unruly tuft of black fur. "Well I'd hate to hold you back from having fun." Already she was standing to follow Vipertail outside; the sight of her mate, his broad scarred shoulders and gentle eyes, never ceased to soothe her.
The presence of Snowfeather, still small enough to fit inside her father's shadow, only furthered that sense of peace. It would never be as whole as it had been when Minkfire was here, but it was strong enough that her steps did not falter, and the smile on her face was sincere. Little whispers stirred Frozenrain's thoughts, reminding her that Minkfire should be here, with her family, and Frozenrain nearly choked. If she let thoughts of her runaway daughter fill her every waking moment, she would lose precious time that could be better spent with her remaining loved ones.
With effort, Frozenrain forced herself to focus on the present, rubbing her flank against Hawkstar's until their tails were entwined. Eagletalon's kits had joined them as well, and she saw Kestrelclaw looking shy but friendly, with Meadowflight by his side. "Just waiting on Herondive," mewed Kestrelclaw with gentle warmth.
And possibly Spiderheart, Frozenrain bit back a wry smile, keeping those thoughts to herself. She did not know the status of her daughter's love life, but it seemed as though there was something between Herondive and the darker-furred warrior. Something good. StarClan knew that Herondive needed an abundance of good, after the... fiasco with TreeClan's medicine cat.

Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains Despite an alarming start to her life for himself and his mate, their youngest daughter Snowfeather seemed to explode into existence suddenly. She was so full of life, so full of joy. It warmed his heart to see her bounding his way with the spring in her step that would rival a deer. Her purr was immediately returned in kind as the white she-cat pressed against his side. Accepting the touch to his nose easily, he chuckled as she continued to move about rather excitedly. Eventually, she dropped to her paws once more from her reared position, taking residence in the curve of his body as he sat.
Leaning slightly to swipe his tongue over her ear with the warmth of a father, he rumbled a response to her question. "I thought we might stay here today, Snowfeather." Hawkstar glanced back toward Kestrelclaw, delighted to see the other tom step toward them, shadowed by Meadowflight. Offering each of them a genuine smile, he continued on. "Each and every one of you used to beg Frozenrain and I for stories when you were kits. Kestrelclaw and Meadwflight even mounted a few stealth missions into my den as kits, just to hear a couple more. You certainly distributed your fair share of heart attacks every time you'd disappear from the nursery." He teased his niece and nephew, purring at the memory.
He was distracted only by the approach of his mate Frozenrain. Although she wore a smile on her features, he knew her better than that. Hawkstar knew she held the same missing piece in her heart as he, a piece that would never be filled unless Minkfire returned. And yet, as the days continued marching on, with no sign of Minkfire... If she did not wish to be found, he knew they would not find her.
That didn't make her disappearance any easier on him.
The StoneClan figurehead returned her smile, but there was something missing in his pale amber eyes. As she settled down next to him, he shifted only slightly so his shoulder touched hers. It was a small gesture, but one he hoped she would read as silent support.
If he could take on all that burdened her, wear it upon his own shoulders so that she would feel nothing but happiness for the rest of her life, the silver-muzzled tom would do so in a heart-beat. Not even the world was too heavy for him if it was for Frozenrain.
Another set of pawsteps drew his attention, paired with the reaction from Vipertail. The black tom jumped back to his paws, despite sitting down only a few heartbeats ago. But Hawkstar could hardly blame him, not with the appearance of his litter mate. The last of their kits padded toward them, though she glanced uncertainly over her shoulder, as though she was looking for someone. Noticing a slight change in Frozenrain at his side, he found his thoughts mirroring hers as he chuckled under his breath.
Looking for Spiderheart, Herondive? He inquired silently.
Vipertail was the first to pipe up, black tail waving happily. "Herondive! Finally! We've been waiting for ages!" The cream and white she-cat's ears flattened apologetically, and she made an effort to lend some speed to her steps as she closed the distance between them. "Uh... Sorry, I was dealing with something." The way her blue eyes darted to her paws briefly spoke volumes to the StoneClan figurehead, for he remembered feeling similarly so many moons ago whenever a beautiful gray and white she-cat crossed his mind.
"Don't listen to your brother, Herondive. He's only teasing. Most of us have only just arrived." His sand-colored tail flicked behind him, beckoning for her to take a seat. She looked a little unsure still, but did pad over to her mother's side, squeezing in between Vipertail and Frozenrain. Blue eyes glanced over to Kestrelclaw and Meadowflight, offering them a timid smile. Herondive had struggled for some time, unfortunately during the time that the other two were growing up. But it was apparent to him that, despite it all... She too thought of them as her siblings, for their father, her mentor, had been like a second father to her. A rock amidst all the turmoil when he hadn't been able to pull her from it.
A loud purr rumbled from his chest, the same one that had lulled so many of the cats before him to sleep when they were no bigger than his paw. Pale amber eyes flicked back to Snowfeather, who was still pressed to his side, still almost small enough to hide under his belly. Of course, Hawkstar help immeasurable love for each of his children, blood related or no. But there was a special place in his heart for Snowfeather, the youngest and smallest of the lot.
When you spent the first few moons of her life worried you might wake up the next morning and find that she'd passed? It left a mark upon you. "Herondive, you were always a fan of the stories of our life. The experiences Frozenrain, Eagletalon, or myself actually experienced. Whereas Vipertail, you seemed to prefer the stories of our ancestors." He chuckled softly then, shifted to butt Snowfeather gently. "And you, well. You always asked me to make up stories. You just liked any and all stories, didn't you?" Flicking his ear he returned his gaze to his niece and nephew.
"Do you two remember what your favorite stories were? The ones you always appeared in my den to ask me to tell you?" He rumbled, the amusement still evident in the purr of his voice. leader of stoneclan and may you have the courage to scale their summits background image | harley king | Fawn Taxx @jet | table by phoenix
