Description:
Cougarmask, while not on the bigger side, is a muscular fellow. This can be seen rippling under the fur on his shoulders and hips. These muscles give him a strength adavantage when comes to battles and hunting. They also help him take long strides when running, though they don't increase his overall speed. Mixed with his personality, this look helps to keep an intimidating persona.
The buff tom's short fur is that of a brown and black ticked tabby. So he has various stripes and flecks of black across his body. His brownish red nose is surrounded by a solid brown marking and white around the mouth. This look goes very well with his almond-shaped eyes that hold an intense golden color. His eyes planted perfectly beneath tall ears atop his head.
Description Summary:
A brown and black ticked tabby tom with golden eyes and a unique brown and white muzzle.
Personality:
Cougarmask is an intimidating fellow in that he doesn't talk often. He's the definition of the "strong silent" type of cat. And it's not that he cannot speak but more or less that he feels others around him do not deserve to hear him unless the situation calls for it. So it's hard to break through this tom's icy walls to really get a feel for what sort of cat he is. However, if a cat proves that they are of sound mind and intelligence, the tom will gladly carry on a conversation with said cat. And possibly open up to them. Possibly.
When it comes to matters of the clan, no one can doubt this tom's loyalty. He is among the first to step up and defend his clan whether it be by claw or by tongue. He cares a great deal for his clan and has what he considers its best interests at heart. This being said, he's always obeserving decisions made and critiquing if something better could be done. He might not voice what he feels on most matters but he most certainly carries a strong opinion on it.
Cougarmask also has a somewhat caring side to him. And that does not mean that he is kind and nice in secret. He is kind in that he cares for the safety of those he actually likes or that share a clan with him. This protective side can make him come across as bold and brash, however, because he will stand up to anything that threatens others. He will guard the future of Treeclan if it kills him.
History:
✿ Rowanfoot | Mother | Treeclan Warrior | Brown and white tabby with yellow eyes [around 77 moons old]
✫ Oakclaw | Father | Treeclan Warrior | Ruddy brown tom with golden eyes [around 79 moons old]
✾ Heatherleaf | Sister | Treeclan Warrior | Brown tabby she-cat with yellow eyes [around 41 moons]
✾ Volenose | Younger Brother | Treeclan Warrior | Brown tom with golden eyes [around 27 moons]
✾ Daisypetal | Younger Sister | Treeclan Warrior | Brown and white tabby with yellow eyes [around 27 moons]
Cougarkit and his sister Heatherkit were born to a pairing between Rowanfoot and Oakclaw. Their parents loved each other very much but both of them had a certain respect for their clan and the responsibilities they owed to them. In fact, they usually would put clan duty above spending time with one another. So it wasn't often that the kits would see their father in the nursery during their kithood. He was typically off hunting or patrolling to help the clan in whatever way he could. Thier mother spent her days teaching them how to walk, run, and pounce on one another. All while putting a sense of loyalty into both of their heads. Of all the things she wanted them to learn, the queen was determined to make the kits understand what having a loyalty to your clan really meant. Cougarkit took this to heart, his persona soon evolving around wanting the best for the clan and those he cared for.
At 6 moons, Cougarkit proudly stood before the clan and received his apprentice name. Cougarpaw. He was overjoyed at the fact that he could finally play a part in the clan and not be cooped up in the nursery. He was even happier when his mentor was named. Hawksight, a well respected older tom of the clan. Under Hawksight's guidance, Cougarpaw learned first how to properly hunt. At first, this didn't go overly well but Cougarpaw was determined to make use of himself. So even when away from his mentor, Cougarpaw would go out after his chores to practice his hunting technique. When it came to battle training, Cougarpaw proved himself a very good brawler. His overall strength helped him in close combat even Hawksight had some trouble defeating the tom during their sparring. So when he reached 12 moons, Cougarpaw was more than versed in the duties of the clan. He was then named Cougarmask and made into an official warrior of the clan.
Cougarmask spent the first couple moons of his time alongside his father, going on patrols and hunts. The two toms began to bond during this time. All the while his mother and sister were spending quality "girl time" on their patrols as well. They essentially made up for the missed time with one another while completing their duties. This was all fine and well until Rowanfoot gave birth to two more kits. Oakclaw took his time to be with his mate and young kits when not out and about instead. Leaving Cougarmask on his own. While he was ok with his sister, the two of them more or less didn't hang out. He wasn't quite sure but he also didn't go out of his way to find out why.
At 20 moons, his younger siblings were made into apprentices. His parents splitting their time between all of the siblings. On the days that Cougarmask was alone, he spent his time out on a hunt. Calculating ways to make himself better for his family and clan. Then at 27 moons, he was given the great task of mentoring an apprentice. Yewpaw was a small black tom who had a major attitude problem. He was constantly fighting with other cats his age and proving a nuissance. The leader had faith that Cougarmask and his intimidating demeanor could turn this apprentice around. Within the first couple days of training, Cougarmask already figured out that he did not like the young tom. He acted like he was better than everyone and everything. Like he was hot stuff. So Cougarmask set out to prove the tom wrong. He took Yewpaw out to the Sparkling Brook one day for fighting practice. He stood opposite the young tom and called out to come at him. When Yewpaw did, Cougarmask fell back and threw his paws into the air, sending the apprentice flying right into the brook. When the tom scrambled to get out of the water and was running his mouth, Cougarmask stood tall over him. He then told the tom that he was not above the clan and never would be. That his attitude was a disgrace to the clan and he would never amount to anything this way. And if he continued, Cougarmask would prove him wrong again and agin. Yewpaw, scared of his mentor, straightened up his attitude within a couple more moons of training.
At 39 moons, Cougarmask's straightned up apprentice was marked a warrior. Yewleaf. A respectable young tom of Treeclan. Cougarmask had scared the tom into the sort of cat the clan needed. While his way of doing so was a bit cruel, it had worked pretty quickly. With the apprentice out of the way, Cougarmask spends his days watching and making the clan better whereever he can.
