Greenleaf 25, 6
Fluffy white clouds decorate the sky all day, but by dusk the sky has cleared and the full moon shines brightly all night. It is warm but comfortable.
NightClan’s attendees arrive with muddy pelts after having to trek through their still water-logged territory in order to reach StarClan’s Claws. The flooding has gone down considerably, and they have only just moved back into their camp, but the soil is still saturated in many places. Darkstar does her best to look unfazed by the mud clinging to her pelt as she makes her way to the leader’s perch, sparing a glance for no cat along the way. After leaping up to join the leaders already there, she settles herself away from them and does not acknowledge any of them, only the surprised flicker of one ear at seeing Redstar instead of Firestar betraying any of her thoughts on her peers.
Attending with her: Rainfur (NPC), Smokefur, Shadowchaser, Lightstep (NPC), Palefire (NPC), Ghostshadow (NPC), Crowflame, Nettleheart, Buckfur, Cricketpaw, Hawkpaw.
TreeClan arrives without delay. Lionstar, bearing the still-healing scars from Demon's latest attack, walks calmly to the leaders' rock. There is a brief wince as he scales it in a single bound, but the tom's face returns to a state of composure once settled. He keeps his eyes narrowed, regarding the other Clans with varying degrees of warmth; Hawkstar and Skyteller are greeted kindly, with a neutral tone directed at Silverstar and Redstar. To NightClan's leader, nothing at all is said. He will not honor a rogue's presence at the gathering.
Attending with him: Pumafang, Falconstorm, Briarpaw, Robinpaw, Duckpaw, Amberwing, Foxfur, Brushfire (NPC), Blackwater (NPC), Cliffchaser (NPC)
Redstar led his clan to the gathering and was positive it was going to be eventful, just as the previous had been. Even with the change in LightningClan's leadership and the moving of the border with Treeclan, Redstar hoped little attention would be paid to them, after all it was unlikely the feud between NightClan and TreeClan would find its' conclusion any time soon. With the patrol paused just outside of the clearing, Redstar shared a look with his sister, and deputy, Owlmind, before leading LightningClan into the fray. It only took the leader moments to climb the stones and take his place with the other leaders for the first time.
Attending with him: Owlmind, Kindleflare, Tigereye, Batear, Sagewind, Lightningpaw, Thunderpaw, Rabbitpaw, Robinflame (NPC), Ivypetal (NPC), Falconblaze (NPC)
A larger group than attended last moon enters the Gathering, but some hang on the edges of the group, wary about mingling so freely with the Clans. Skyteller pads at the front with a cave-guard alongside, who falls back with his Tribemates as the Healer springs onto the Leaders’ Rock, not waiting for an invitation this time.
Attending with him: Cave-guards Dark Clouds of Gathering Storm (NPC) and Wolf that Howls at Moonhigh, with to-be Stag in Morning Light; Prey-hunters Moth that Flutters in Moonlight (NPC) and Cry of Hunting Peregrine with to-be First Light on Lily Petals (NPC).
The StoneClan figurehead leads a throng of his Clanmates into StarClan's Claws. Relatively unaffected by the flood in comparison to many, the members of StoneClan's patrol are healthy, surefooted as ever thanks to their mountainous home. The sand-colored tom's light amber eyes glisten with sharpness despite his advancing age as he considers those already waiting within the Gathering place. As he separates from the accompanying cats, he spares a quick glance toward Smokestorm, dipping his head to his deputy before taking the ascension to the leader's perch, albeit a bit slower than previous moons.
Attending with him: Smokestorm, Sandblaze, Ebonypaw, Frozenrain, Snowfeather, Dawnpaw, Paintedpaw, Rowanpaw, Pebblefrost (NPC), Waspwing (NPC), Owlclaw (NPC)
After some time passes, it becomes clear that RainClan will not be attending.

Fire on the ground, got em runnin' for cover, better watch out, I'm about to take over...
Darkstar’s tail tip began to twitch, slowly at first, and increasing as the wait went on. The cats in the clearing below mingled and chatted away, but even they began to grow restless as more time passed and RainClan did not appear. Conversation turned to why the water dwelling Clan might be late, wondering just how badly they had really been hit by the flooding. Darkstar grew tired of waiting and without a word or even a look at the other leaders on the rock with her, she stood and paced to the edge of the boulder, her toes curling over the edge as she raised her voice to address the gathering. The sooner it began, the sooner it could end, and she could return to her Clan.
“Clearly RainClan isn’t coming. Let us begin!” her tail lashed once behind her in annoyance. She was wet, muddy, and didn’t want to be here besides. It was only the obligation to ensure that the other Clans knew NightClan was thriving and strong that brought her here. “Some of our territory flooded in the rains, but the water has gone done considerably and NightClan is doing well. We have three new apprentices, two of which are here tonight. Cricketpaw, Hawkpaw, and Badgerpaw.” Her gaze shifted briefly to the brother and sister that had been invited tonight.
Rainfur, catching her leader’s eye, tilted her head slightly in Skyteller’s direction, and Darkstar’s tail flicked once in reply before she finally turned to fully acknowledge the big tom for the first time that night, “Last gathering you offered an alliance, Skyteller.” She met the tom’s gaze for a moment, still internally railing against accepting outside help for NightClan. But between her deputy and her medicine cats, there had been decent points made. Particularly when Rainfur brought up that the other Clans would be able to call on the Tribe in times of need, which could give them an advantage over NightClan, whether the Tribe meant for it to work out that way or not. She could not allow the other Clans to gain such an advantage, and it was that reason alone that allowed her to swallow her pride, “NightClan accepts your offer.”
An alliance went two ways. It meant they would be expected to assist as well, if needed. It didn’t sit well with Darkstar, but there was every possibility the Tribe would ask for the assistance of one of the other Clans if they needed it. They had five options, after all. The fact that the Tribe harbored former NightClan warriors did not at all make the tortoiseshell leader more sympathetic to them. Cats that had turned their backs on the Clan that had birthed them, raised them, trained them, taught them how to survive, deserved none of her sympathy. She stepped back and settled herself on the rock once more, staring pointedly out over the clearing again.

Lionstar The crown is getting heavy But they've written my name in the stars NightClan's leader was as brash as ever - impatient and insolent, like an apprentice who didn't know any better. Lionstar's still-healing wounds protested as he moved, but with a bracing breath, he filled the space left by Darkstar's retreat. Different than the last gathering, Lionstar did not speak with venom - nor did he speak with warm neutrality. Instead, his voice was curt and edged with frost.
"TreeClan's territory has suffered no lasting damage from the flood. However, we lost one warrior, Moonfeather, to the swollen brook. May StarClan watch over her and all lives claimed in the flood." The heaviness in his heart was like a secondary ache, like the kind on his back and shoulders from Demon's onslaught. It would be just another scar added to the long list of friends and family Lionstar had lost. He let a respectful silence lapse, then, when all eyes were once more upon him, continued.
"Another young warrior, Yewfang, was taken from us. Demon prowled our forests in the days following the flood, and though Yewfang was our only casualty, I caution our neighbors to be watchful of the lynx's movements." It was a grim, detached address, but he chose to end it on something of a high note. "TreeClan's greenleaf has been more than death and conflict; my daughter Lilypaw has earned the name Lilybreeze. TreeClan will welcome three new apprentices by season's end. Despite forces outside our control," it took effort not to glower at Darkstar. "TreeClan thrives." She wasn't important. He could not make her the single focal point of his anger; not when her entire Clan was just as gleeful about stealing TreeClan prey as she was.
NightClan had continued to do nothing but prove his assumptions correct. They were honorless and thieving, and Darkstar led a rogues' gallery masquerading as a Clan. This new alliance with the Tribe, he would bet his tail, stemmed only from NightClan not wanting to be disadvantaged by being left out of the equation. Lionstar withdrew from the front of the rock, allowing the next Clan leader to step forward. The atmosphere around him was cold and brooding, so different from the fire he'd brought with him in Newleaf. The time for angry outbursts were over. Redstar watched as the clearly impatient leader of NightClan declared not only that RainClan obviously wasn't coming, but the gathering would be beginning that instant. The fiery pelted tom wasn't bothered by Darkstar's actions, as she was likely correct. If the rest of the clans had suffered in any way from the torrential downpour that had plagued them it was obvious RainClan would see the worst of it after all. Darkstar began in the typical fashion by posturing, ensuring the rest of the valley that NightClan was as strong as ever. Clearly it wasn't. This transitioned into something Redstar would consider far less typical, however, as NightClan's newest leader agreed to what the tom could only assume was a tentative alliance with the tribe. As Redstar processed this new information Lionstar took his turn, and Redstar quickly averted his attention to the older tom. Things happening to LightningClan's neighbors were far more relevant to Redstar, and he took heed of Lionstar's warning about Demon.
It was now LightningClan's turn and Redstar took Lionstar's place to give his report, thanking him as they passed one another. "Thank you for the warning Lionstar, we will remain vigilant." Taking a moment to survey the cats gathered below, surprised at just how different it felt to be standing with the other clan leaders, Redstar began. "Clearly there is much news from LightningClan, as Firesky has chosen to return her remaining lives after many moons of service to her clan." Redstar paused for only a moment to gauge the reactions of those gathered below, would they think LightningClan weak for having its' previous two leaders step down? It should have mattered little to the tom as any cat predicting LightningClan to be in a weakened state would find themselves to be sorely mistaken, however Redstar still couldn't help but wonder. "I have taken over as leader of LightningClan, and Owlmind has been selected to serve as my deputy." Redstar had previously decided to omit LightningClan's moving of the border between themselves and Treeclan. Lionstar likely wouldn't be pleased if Darkstar found out they were receiving pressure from LightningClan as well. "The flooding did little to effect LightningClan, and we have every intention to remain a strong and prosperous presence among you." With that the Redstar was finished and vacated his position so another could speak.

Teller of the Mountain Sky The absence of one of the leaders made for a bit more space on the rock, but Skyteller still kept his tail curled close to allow more space for the rest. He looked over the crowd- four Clans and his Tribe- noting that the younger to-be, Lily, had approached some of the Clan apprentices; and behind her, like a watchful shadow, her father ensured her safety. Moth, too, had taken the chance to strike up a conversation with a stranger, but Storm was keeping his distance, looking somewhat intimidated by the number of cats present.
It was too bad RainClan hadn't made it, but he supposed it was understandable. They'd lost a lot, from what he'd heard, and there would be hard work to make their camp livable again. Perhaps next Gathering, he could see them. For now, he pricked up his ears as his name was spoken, meeting Darkstar's gaze and then feeling a rush of relief when she agreed to the alliance. That was every Clan, and he dipped his head to her to acknowledge her words. He hoped, some day, he and his Tribe would be able to prove themselves to Darkstar.
Lionstar's news came next, and it reminded Skyteller of his own news he had to share. He was about to speak, but the ginger tom- somewhat a stranger, and new to the ranks of leaders- spoke before he could do more than draw breath. LightningClan's new leader had little to share besides that of his new rank and the new deputy he'd chosen. The rain didn't seem to have given him any trouble- that was good. He glanced at Hawkstar, to see if the older tom intended to speak first, but Skyteller was urged forward first and he accepted.
"I have news to add to Lionstar's, about Demon. We have seen and scented another lynx, a female, and we think they may have a litter somewhere in the mountains." He flashed a glance at the other leaders, wishing he could do something, but it was a foolhardy move to try and force a nursing mother lynx from the den where she was nursing kits. "We may have more trouble from him as time goes on." But that was to worry about later; amber eyes turned to fix on the TreeClan leader as he continued.
"Lionstar, you mentioned Moonfeather's death; I have news that I hope you'll forgive me for being unable to share sooner. Some of my Tribe found her during those storms and they brought her to our cave. She's alive- injured, but recovering. She suffered a broken leg, which will need some time yet to heal. I attempted to send some cats to tell you but due to weather and- other dangers, we were unable to send word until tonight. I regret any pain this has caused and any of you are more than welcome to visit her as you wish.
"On the subject of RainClan," he continued, turning back to the gathered cats, "They were flooded out of their home and sheltered with us for several days. They returned to their territory this morning." If any of the other leaders cared- which he hoped they did.
"Lastly, since the last Gathering, Babbling River Between Stones has given up her rank and joined our elders. Moth that Flutters in Moonlight has replaced her as our lead prey-hunter." He nodded to indicate the silvery she-cat, and then with no more news to share, he stepped back and then turned his gaze on Hawkstar, waiting for the older leader to say his piece. Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains Amber eyes had surveyed the crowd silently, watching the form of his mate as she weaved between the other Clans. It was atypical for elders to attend this event, he knew. And yet, Frozenrain had insisted, intent on asking anyone if they had sighted Minkfire since her disappearance earlier this season. A sand-colored tail twitched stop his large paws, the StoneClan figurehead exhaling quietly to release some of the tension in his shoulders. As time went on, RainClan’s absence grew more and more noticeable, especially considering the Tribe had managed the journey from the mountains before the river-dwelling Clan arrived.
An ear flicked thoughtfully, recalling the swelling of the Sky Springs due to the heavy rainfall. RainClan must have been hit incredibly hard by the sudden onslaught of water. Surely they’ve not been wiped out? He thought to himself, gaze narrowing briefly. He would have little time to consider this, however, for Darkstar stepped forward with clear impatience, beginning the meeting. Someone would have had to make the call eventually, though her choice in words may have been a little more aggressive than necessary.
Still, the old tom sat silently upon the leader’s perch, watching each leader in turn step forward to make their announcements. It seemed as though many had been impacted by the flood in some way. News of the flood aside, NightClan’s acceptance of the Tribe’s previous offer was intriguing, albeit logical. He was certain that even someone as hot headed as Darkstar had come to realize that.
TreeClan’s news was far more distressing. Flood aside, the possibility of Demon roaming the territory was disconcerting to say the very least. Especially when supplemented with Skyteller’s warning of a potential second beast and cubs. Making a mental note to ensure patrols were aware of the danger and that borders were remarked appropriately, Hawkstar rose to his paws as Skyteller came to the end of his speech.
Being the last of the leaders to speak was of little concern to him; someone would always be last, and it allowed him to judge the others and modify what it was he had to share. Centering himself on the stones and casting his gaze out to the others, the sandy leader let his voice carry through the clearing. “StoneClan was lucky enough to remain relatively unaffected by the recent floods. Though the Sky Springs flooded, it will not have a lasting affect upon our lives. However, our thoughts are with all those lost in the recent events.” Turning to Skyteller briefly, he continued. “I am glad to hear that both RainClan as well as TreeClan’s Moonfeather found shelter with you in these trying times. The stars were looking down upon them, and I pray that continues.”
He met Frozenrain’s gaze briefly, before adding. “One of our warriors, Minkfire, went missing earlier this season. We have been unable to locate her with the flooding; if any news might arise concerning her disappearance, like that of Moonfeather’s whereabouts for example, StoneClan would be grateful to hear it.” He paused briefly, shifting gears to the final matter. “Thank you for your warnings regarding Demon and the female lynx, Lionstar and Skyteller. We shall remain vigilant for this threat in the coming days.” As he finished, he glanced back to the other leaders, silently asking whether they had anything else to share or discuss with the Clans. leader of stoneclan and may you have the courage to scale their summits background image | harley king |@zen Fawn @poptart Taxx | table by phoenix

Fire on the ground, got em runnin' for cover, better watch out, I'm about to take over...
When Lionstar pushed forward to take her place and address the gathering, Darkstar’s ears angled forward in the only sign of her interest, while her fiery gaze floated languidly about the cats below, heeding Lionstar’s words all while judging the reactions of those listening to them. He announced a loss and a silence stretched out for those who knew the cat he named to remember her before he continued. Her gaze flashed briefly to him when he spoke of Demon and she barely withheld the low growl that attempted to rumble in her throat. The lynx seemed to be growing bolder when it came to attacking Clan cats. She sought out Nettleheart in the crowd below, a mild flash of concern that the fiery younger she-cat might get foolish ideas into her head about the creature that had taken her mentor from her.
But Lionstar spoke again, and there was nothing she could do or say to Nettleheart about it while she remained with the other leaders. One ear flicked as Lionstar finished, with no mention of NightClan’s prey stealing. What a surprise, she’d so been expecting him to rant and rave at her again before running off back to his camp as though afraid her words would fall on him like physical blows. A soft, derisive snort escaped her, but she did nothing more to acknowledge the TreeClan leader or his news. Her attention shifted to Redstar as the tom stepped forward, confirming that Firestar was indeed no longer leader, though it seemed she had retired rather than died. Darkstar didn’t know the circumstances, obviously, but considering how tired the older she-cat looked at the last gathering, she could only assume she had stepped down so someone stronger could take her place.
If it was for the good of her Clan, Darkstar could respect that choice. To selfishly cling to power if all it did was weaken the Clan would be a deplorable act. Of course there could be other reasons, but Darkstar could think of none that she found acceptable. Redstar was replaced by Skyteller, and the Tribe cat issued further warning about Demon. Darkstar’s tail lashed once behind her, fiery gaze narrowing into angry slits at the idea of more of those monster cats wandering around the valley. One was bad enough. Her claws scraped at the stone beneath her. More of them could not be allowed to settle here. And yet any attempt to remove them would be a costly one at best, if it even worked. Demon had rarely done so, but he had proven his worth against an entire patrol of cats on enough occasions that she wasn’t certain just how many cats might be required to take even one lynx down, much less an entire family. They would have to be extra vigilant.
Skyteller went on to announce that one of TreeClan’s dead was not dead at all. Darkstar’s ear flicked dismissively at the news, her mind still distracted by the thought of more lynxes in the valley. The Tribe tom confirmed that RainClan had been flooded out of their territory, though any StoneClan or NightClan cat could have guessed that. The valley had gained a lake in the wake of the intense rains, and that lake had fully occupied RainClan’s territory. But according to Skyteller their water-loving neighbors had returned to their territory that morning. They could have attended the gathering, then. It was either a bold move or a stupid one not to. Darkstar understood perfectly that there must be plenty of work to do to restore their camp. NightClan had only just returned to their own camp and the flood waters had littered it with debris that needed to be cleaned out and new moss for everyone’s nests needed to be brought in. There was a rebuilding effort needed, but with their tensions with TreeClan, they could not afford to look weakened by the floods by not attending the gathering.
Finally some news about an elder in the Tribe that Darkstar didn’t particularly care to take note of, her ears twitching again at the word ‘prey-hunter’, and Skyteller had finished speaking. Hawkstar rose to speak next and Darkstar was already more than eager to head back to camp, StoneClan’s affairs having very little to do with NightClan, seeing as they were across the valley from each other and shared no borders. The old tom had little share other than news of a missing warrior and request for any information on her whereabouts should the other Clans come into contact with her. Darkstar’s tail flicked dismissively, thinking something had likely happened to her in the flooding and that it was unlikely she would be returning to her Clan. At long last Hawkstar finished and seemed to look at the rest of them expectantly, to which Darkstar rose and lifted her tail for her Clan’s attention, “NightClan, we’re going home!” Without any other word to her peers, she leaped down and headed toward the NightClan border to wait for her Clan to gather to head back to camp. It had certainly been a far less eventful gathering than the last.

Lionstar The crown is getting heavy But they've written my name in the stars "I have news to add to Lionstar's, about Demon. We have seen and scented another lynx, a female, and we think they may have a litter somewhere in the mountains."
StarClan above. Lionstar had to keep from openly cursing aloud. That was a blow the valley had been dodging for a long time - Demon bringing more monsters into the world - but it seems they couldn't dodge it forever. He shared a look with his deputy, aware that they were both deeply troubled by this news. If there was a female lynx somewhere with kits, then they would have a little time to prepare, or perhaps brace themselves for a harsher, more dangerous world.
In the same heartbeat, the dread that had been building in his chest crumbled to make way for a different emotion. Relief. Moonfeather was alive! Thank StarClan, he breathed out the stress and grief that had been attached to Moonfeather's drowning, slowly letting peace reclaim him as this good news began to sink in. When Skyteller finished his statement and the gathering drew to a close, Lionstar moved to the large ginger tom, briefly sharing a solemn, sincere word with Hawkstar as he passed the scarred older tom by.
"I hope you find your daughter," he mewed, from one father to another.
Lionstar dipped his head to the StoneClan leader then moved on, greeting Skyteller with a grateful smile.
"Thank you for looking after Moonfeather. My heart is healed knowing she's alive and safe. I would like to send a warrior with you to hunt for her, if you'll allow it." It felt like the most respectful option. This was what the alliance was for - to lean on one another's kindness in dire circumstances. The Tribe had saved Moonfeather. The least TreeClan could do to pay them back was help bring in prey. TreeClan needed every ablebodied cat serving their Clan - but they needed allies just as much. Skyteller did not seem the type to hold anything over their heads, it had been kindness for kindness' sake - and Lionstar respected him deeply for that.
It never hurt to be appreciative, and to show it with more than just pretty words. Lionstar shifted his weight, meeting the Tribe cat's gaze as the cat's mountainous scent touched his tongue. "If the Tribe has need of anything, you have my ear." I've been building up all these kingdoms for so long It's good to be king
