Swanflight had known it was coming. In fact, most of the Clan probably knew it was coming. The amount of rain that had fallen over such a short space of time meant trouble. And here trouble is... The she-cat thought, trying to contain the knot of fear that was welling up in her chest as she heard the announcement from Silverstar. Within moments of the words that they were heading to higher ground leaving the leaders mouth, water had began flowing into the immediate camp area. It was already covering her paws. The tension in the camp almost immediately exploded as cats everywhere sprang into action, helping kits and elders, families uniting for the journey away from camp. Swanflight felt frozen as she surveyed the chaos, organised chaos, but still chaos. The fear scent was rife, some cats still listening, waiting for instruction even as the water continued rising. She was a capable swimming, she would be alright. 'Guard your family. They are your responsibility.' Silverstars command jolted Swanflight back to attention. Her family. A sense of purpose surged through her as she turned her head from the unfolding chaos, looking for her own. Her brother would likely be alright, he was strong enough, but what about her mother and sister. A sudden shiver of fear rippled down Swanflights spine as she realised she didn't even know where they were amongst the drama and the ever rising floodwater.
Images of her uncle, Crowblaze's soaking body filled her mind as she was reminded of the emotional toll it had taken on her sister. Swanflight shouted louder over the commotion, pushing through the water which was now up to her chest.
"Owlpaw! Where are you!"

66 Moons || Warrior-Queen || RainClan
Muddy paws drummed over sodden earth, flecks of dirt, torn grass and river mud kicked up by the rapidly churning paws. Lotuswhisker's heart, somehow, was going even faster than her feet. The closer she got to camp, the greater her sense of urgency. Where's the camp strea-- oh StarClan, there it was. It had burst its banks, the water from the river so far inland that there was only some sparse territory left between the camp stream and the river itself.
It was as if the river were devouring RainClan's territory, hungry after so much rain.
"I knew something was wrong when I saw the stone stream," Lotuswhisker murmured to the rest of her patrol, barely able to hear herself above the rush of the engorged river. It was too dangerous to linger here; the stone stream had been higher than usual, high enough that the plethora of stones and river pebbles were impossible to see. If the water down by StoneClan had gotten so high, then that could only mean...
Something further up river was going very wrong.
Lotuswhisker plunged into the camp stream, hating how even the normally shallow crossing had become cause for concern, the water lapping against her white jaw and chocolate-brown throat. Fear scent was heavy in the air, and it became clearer and clearer as Lotuswhisker swam that the camp was being evacuated. "Gullswoop!" Lotuswhisker called for her mate, trying to find the tall silver tom amongst the outpouring flow of Clanmates. It was like fighting a second tide; orderly though it may have been, the sense of urgency had them pressing for dry ground like minnows in search of reeds to hide in.
"Mother!" Lotuswhisker climbed to shore, whipping her head around to spot Falconheart making his way towards her. "Silverstar says we're evacuating! He wants families to group together, otherwise it's two cats pairing up."
Lotuswhisker touched Falconheart's shoulder with her tail, grateful to see at least one member of her family unscathed. "I want you and Swanflight to group together will Owlpaw! Then once I find Gullswoop, we'll all go together."
Falconheart's expression was set firm, before his eyes widened. "Swanflight! Fishdung, she's already trying to cross the camp stream." Lotuswhisker turned, her heart lurching as she saw her daughter keeping her head up above water that was already at the young warrior's chest. Lotuswhisker quickly waved her tail. "Over here, sweetheart! Swim to me, we'll all leave together."As soon as we find Owlpaw and your father.
Once the orders were given, Gullswoop was one of the first to start pairing cats up. Using his height to his advantage, Gullswoop watched over those near him, making sure no one was alone. A deep rooted respect for water made things more urgent. The river could swollow them all up without a second thought. Nature simply existed it never gave pause to the lives it took or the familes left broken in the wake of disaster.
Growing uneasy that he hadn't seen his kits scramble about, he did manage to hear Lotuswhisker. Naturally drawn to his mate's voice, he spotted her with Falconheart. Glad those in his immediate vicinity had partnered up, Gullswoop made his way over. All the while he eyes watching for Owlpaw and his apprentice. Panic creeping in the longer it took him to see them.
It all happened so fast. A flash of silver and black fur caught his attention. To his left, he watched as Owlpaw swam desperately toward her aunt. Gullswoop called over her but to no avail. The evacuating cats had grown in noise, his voice lost in the crowd. Relying on his height now more than ever, Gullswoop tried to watch for her over the bobbing heads. His success was marginal. Not only was Owlpaw at risk but Willowbreeze and her kits as well.
Pushing against the crowd, he made little progress. No one was letting him across to help. Frustrated, Gullswoop almost growled to get his way but instead, to Owlpaw's credit, she managed to get her extended family to safety. Once he saw them on a distant mud island, he turned his attention toward where he heard Lotuswhisker.
He would have to let Owlpaw and Wavepaw tend to Willowbreeze and her kits until he could get to them. Once the crowd dispersed enough that he wasn't fighting against them and the current. Kicking hard with his legs, Gullswoop managed to catch up to Swanflight's side. "I'm here now," He greeted her, swimming with her to offer support until they met up with Lotuswhisker.
"I saw Owlpaw, she is with Wavepaw, Willowbreeze, and the kits. They seem safe," He relayed the information between pants for air, exhaustion from helping others catching up to him. "Let's go before its too late, Swanflight will you swim beside me?" He wanted each of them with a kit. Morbid as the thought was he knew as parents they would sacrifice themselves for their kits. Regardless of age.
