Duskrose,
Warrior of TreeClan
You can't be serious! What are you thinking?" Dunefang's tail lashed, face twisted into a scowl. Duskrose withdrew, curling up slightly, eyes shifting away. "I can't believe you would be so stupid! You are better than this!" He kept going, she grew smaller.
"It's not like I did it on purpose, you can't choose who you love," Barely finding the wrods to respond, Duskrose stared upward at her brother. He growled, low in the throat, turning his back on Duskrose storming away, stopping just tail lengths away.
"You need to end this, it's not worth it Duskrose. It will only end in heartache." He tried to sound softer, but failed. Dunefang's anger seeped into each word. His sister's betrayal bitter in his heart.
"I can't," She pleaded, Dunefang turned enough to stare at her. Eyes narrowed.
"So you will leave me? Go join him in LightningClan?" His words were pained. He sounded hurt now instead of angry. His eyes becoming cloudy with growing grief.
"No, I'll stay here. Things won't change, everything will be okay," Hopeful as she was, Duskrose found little faith in her words. The possibility of happiness slowly slipping away.
"Duskrose, what if we have to fight against LightningClan, what if someone he loves is killed by someone you love. Will things still be okay? He had a point, refusing to acknowledge it, her head turned away. Things were different for her and Blazefang, they could make it work. Their love was stronger. She just had to believe in it. Find faith. Impossible as it sounded. "I can't tell you what to do, StarClan knows no one can, but please be careful," His words were his goodbye. He left his sister there the scent of LightningClan's side of the border calling to her heart.
She wanted Dunefang to meet him, for her brother to know the truth but now her plan backfired. All she had left was to keep going, find Blazefang. Steal a moment with him while she still had it. The reality of their situation almost painfully grim. Even if it was difficult to admire, Dunefang was right. As a fight with NightClan grew ever closers, she feared their rivals on the moorland would rise. See the weakness of her Clan after such a hard fight. Easy pickings, almost like robin eggs.
Even if Blazefang refused to join the fight, his clanmates would join in. She knew he had siblings, how many was a mystery. What if what Dunefang said was a premonition? Would their love stand strong against such a tragedy? Emotionally exhausted, Duskrose continued on her earlier plan, finding Blazefang.
She knew the way well enough, her paws found the trail with ease. It would only be a matter of moments until she caught his scent and hid her own, trekking through the moorland made easy with careful planning.
She was a bit like spring;
wild as the wind
fickle as the weather,
but her love ran deep as tree roots.
