Two apprentices made their way along Nightclan and Rainclan's dark border, one tall and gray, the other small and bengal. Wasp-paw and Wavepaw had been entrusted to go on a hunting patrol by their mentors. Rather than feel like a training session, it really did feel like the two cats were simply two warriors doing warrior things
Recently, Wasp-paw had begun to take his training a lot more seriously, and he had grown tremendously because of it. Yet he was still not perfect.
A slight rustling on Nightclan's side of the border caused Wasp-paw to pick his head up from the log he had been sniffing, angling his ears towards the noise to wait for another sign of movement. There it was again: a somewhat distant rustling that was much too loud to be from any prey animal. Either it was a patrolling Nightclan cat or a large creature out to hurt them.
Either way, the two apprentices needed to be on their guard.
Flashing a look at Wavepaw to make sure the other apprentice had heard it as well, Wasp-paw began to slowly edge closer to the noise, stopping only at the borderline between the two clans. He was not stupid enough to risk a battle and put his clanmates in jeopardy. Unless...
An all-too-familiar scent suddenly hit Wasp-paw, and he was taken back to a certain night. A night in which two Nightclan cats made him a promise he would never forget, a promise for blood. That fire that the young apprentice had felt that night began to return, and his eyes lit up with a combination of excitement and rage. Sure, he was still small and not-well-trained in the art of battle, but he was still a whole lot better than he was on that first night. Maybe even good enough to win with Wavepaw by my side.
He let out a laugh. He wanted them to be completely aware of where he was, of how he felt. "Fancy seeing you toads out here," he jeered into the empty space, hoping to Starclan that it truly was only his two enemies hidden just across the border. A fight with any other pair of Nightclan cats wouldn't be justified.
Please, Wavepaw. Help me out. The bengal apprentice could only hope that the gray-furred apprentice would stick by his side, despite the situation. And he was hoping hard. This would be no easy fight.

The young tom padded only a few steps behind his fellow Rainclan apprentice along the border of their clan and Nightclan. They had originally been with Gullswoop and Skychaser, their mentors, but at some point the four toms had been separated. Not that that was necessarily a bad thing, it just mean't that there were two apprentices wandering around, and both were old enough to handle themselves.
Well, maybe.
The blue-gray tom's head wasn't completely on the border patrol. He kept wandering back to the time he had been spending with Owlpaw, the daughter of his mentor. He enjoyed being around her, she was older and wiser so not only did he learn a lot from her but she was quickly becoming one of his best friends. He still couldn't place the quickness of his heartbeat and the warmth that rose under his pale pelt every-time he was around her though. Ever since his brother, Sunripple, had earned his warrior name the apprentice's den had seemed a little less fun. He was the youngest apprentice at the moment, but he as he grew closer to the end of his training he had been around both Owlpaw and Wasp-paw a lot.
And his mischievous nature seemed to fit right in with Wasp-paw's head strong personality.
Flickering his ears, the slender tom lifted his head from sniffing a hole in the ground as his fellow apprentice shouted across the border, causing a eyebrow to raise from the younger of the two. He wasn't entirely sure what the young Bengal was trying to do, poking at the Nightclanners seemed like a very poor decision. Especially since the clan among the shadows was on the brink of war with Treeclan, and was known for their quick aggression. Leaving his forgotten hole in the ground, Wavepaw made his way over to the other tom's side as curiosity got the better of him.
"Who are you yowling at?" Wavepaw asked, bright emerald gaze looking over the sinister looking pine forest. While their harsh, marshy scent was strong, the blue-gray tom had yet to separate actual cat scents over that of their clan. The mischievous tomcat was well aware of the scuffle Wasp-paw had been in at the last gathering, between two young Warriors of Nightclan. Perhaps that was who he scented, or perhaps it was just their scent that lingered from the last border patrol.
But as soon as he spoke, the younger apprentice saw the shadows shift from across the invisible border. Morphing into the shapes of cats that caused the slender tom's short fur to stand on end along his spine. It wasn't often the other clans encountered Nightclanners during they day, it was a known fact that they were nocturnal, preferring the darkness of night to the brightness of day.Despite the widening of his green pools, Wavepaw didn't budge from his spot next to his fellow Rainclanner. He was no coward, maybe a bit fool-hardy.
Wavepaw could feel the tense form of Wasp-paw next to him, giving him the feeling that the two of them probably wouldn't survive this encounter without a few scrapes and scratches. in the garden of evil I'm gonna be the greatest Wavepaw, RainClan Apprentice 13 Moons Graywolf NightClan She-Cat 24 Moons The resident troublemaker of Nightclan somehow found herself out and about during the day. Why, she had no idea but she found herself following Gracklestrike out of the caverns of their camp and into the welcoming pine forests of their territory, the sun filtering down through the tall leaves ahead and casting shadows here and there.
Of course, the gray pelted feline slipped in and out of those dark areas to keep not only cool during the heat of the day but also because she preferred to keep hidden among the undergrowth.
They wren't called Nightclan for no reason.
Plume tail flickering over her back, the slender feline trotted happily in front of her companion. Recently Gracklestrike had been a foul, almost murderous mood. She had always been an intense she-cat, from a young age, probably why she and Darkstar got along so well. But, Graywolf found her company rather enjoyable despite the temper.
Respectfully, not really something Graywolf was known for, the gray feline kept from bugging or asking questions as they made their way towards the border of Rainclan. Why they were going there? No reason really, except just wandering around looking for something to do during the day time.
Though, the two she-cats probably had different ideas of what to do. Graywolf just wanted to cause trouble, it was practically her favorite thing to do. That and gossip, and of course the occasional flirting.
Pausing as they grew closer, a familiar scent reached the gray feline's nose. It brought a dangerous smirk to her maw as those green eyes flashed with a wild fire. It seemed she had managed to find the trouble she was looking for and it cause excitement to flash through her veins like lightning.
Giving a quick glance towards Gracklestrike, Graywolf shifted forwards, flickering her ears at the challenge which broke the quiet air. Blazing green pools narrowed on the familiar form of Wasp-paw as he stood there at the border with another cat, with a coat of blue-gray.
Too easy...
The thought was a purr within her mind as the siren slunk closer, letting the shadow ease from the gray form like the Nightclanner she was. "Look here Gracklestrike, our little fish brought a friend..." Her tone was sickly sweet as always, and sharp with the undertone of danger as she made her way forwards. Petite paws were precise as they moved her with ease, tail still curled over her back.
Those piercing green eyes burned dangerously, that smirk still alive upon her gray maw as the dilute feline captured both young toms within her gaze. Her shredded ear twitched ever so slightly, a permanent reminder that she was a battle ready warrior despite her youth.
Long, sharp claws slowly slid from her paws in an intimidating feat, "Remember what I said about the shadows little fish..." You are never safe.

{ } I won't suffer, be broken, get tired, or wasted Surrender to nothing ~ Days have passed since Cinderfur's confession and distance from her brother helped. She couldn't be bothered to spend much time with him and used the Clan's nocturnal nature to her advantage. Forcing herself to wake and do things during the daylight had offered Gracklestrike a new challenge. She had become more stealthy. Relied heavily on her ability to walk in the shadows created. Her movements became almost invisible to the untrained eye. All the better to sneak up on her enemies but they were few. Making her claws itch almost painfully. She needed a reason to dig them deep into an opponent. Sneaking off to scuffle with a TreeClan would only speed up the pending war and likely earn the ire of Darkstar. Not something she wanted. She headed for RainClan instead, the memory of the fish-breath apprentice still fresh. Graywolf had joined her, not that Gracklestrike minded. The grey she-cat seemed to have a hunger for a fight but had a finesse about her. A talent to entice, something Gracklestrike found herself envying. Graywolf remained beautiful with her notched ear. Gracklestrike felt her scars made her appear coarse, not worth a second glance. She tried not to care, pretty she-cats made pretty queens, Gracklestrike wanted no part in that. Ear flicking at Graywolf's words, she let her neutral frown shift to something sinister. "I wonder which one will cry first," Her voice rasped, tracking Wavepaw with her pale eyes. Claws fully extended to the point they created scars in the soft earth. She waited only a moment after her words before lunging forward, rushing for Wavepaw. ~ GRACKLESTRIKE

He wasn't getting out of this without a fight, that was obvious from Graywolf's sweetly sinister tone. While he was grateful the Wavepaw had not backed down, he also felt a pang of guilt for bringing his new friend into this. Wasp-paw was by no means a mature and wise warrior, but he was starting to sort out right from wrong, and endangering a clanmate was incredibly wrong.
There wasn't much time to decide what to do. Both of the Nightclan warriors were fairly young, so the two apprentices stood a chance.
After Gracklestrike's words, everything seemed to move in slow motion as she lunged towards Wavepaw. The Bengal apprentice knew that Wavepaw knew how to fight; he would worry about defending him if the gray-blue apprentice called for help. For now, he had another cat on his mind: Graywolf.
"I have nothing to fear from your slimy paws," he retorted quickly, a daring look in his eye. It was time to finish what he started.
With a snarl, the small apprentice leaped with a surprising quickness towards Graywolf, landing square on the large she-cat's back and digging his front claws into her shoulders. By no means did he intend to kill Graywolf, but by Starclan, he wanted her to suffer.

Green eyes watched as the two cats seemed to materialized out of the shadows, aiding to their clan name almost perfectly. Two she-cats, two warriors and two deadly felines that could cause a lot of problems with their wisdom and battle prowess compared to two young apprentices from a peaceful clan. Caution and nervousness rose under the short blue-gray pelt of the younger of the two Rainclanners, his claws slowly peaking from nimble paws.
Despite his mischievous personality, the young tom didn't often go looking for touble that could cause problems or a fight, but it seemed that Wasp-paw had previous history with these two she-cats and he wasn't about to back away from them during this encounter on the border. In the back of his mind the blue-gray tom figured Silverstar wouldn't be very pleased to find out that two of Rainclan's apprentices had gotten into a scuffle with their war hungry neighbors. Though, Gullswoop and Skychaser probably wouldn't be very pleased either, considering their mentors had given them enough space to wander on their own for a bit.
Oh, foxdung!
It all happened so quickly, between the banter and goading before Gracklestike lunged forwards with bared fangs and sharp claws. Despite not having any beef with the two Nightclanner, Wavepaw wasn't about to back down from a challenge, nor was he going to let Wasp-paw deal with this problem by himself. They were clanmates, denmates and fellow apprentices learning and growing together. They were going to be Rainclan warriors eventually, and they were friends. Whatever kind of trouble Wasp-paw was in, Wavepaw would help get him out of it.
A growl rose within the blue-gray tom's throat as he dropped to his belly and rolled from the spot he had once been standing, the spot that the dark tabby she-cat landed just a hair away from sinking her claws into his pelt. Hackles raised along his shoulder blades, the slender tom whipped around to face Gracklestrike, tail like a dilute snake as it whipped around behind him.
Quickly assessing his position as well as hers, the young tom shot forwards using his claws to dig into the ground and give him momentum. His plan was to slam into the darkly colored she-cat and bowl her over, perhaps get her off her paws to give him some sort of advantage. Something in his head told her that despite the fact that he was almost a warrior with battle training that this Nightclanner had far more experience shredding pelts than he did. Juking to the side, Wavepaw dropped his shoulder in an attempt to ram it into Grackelstrike's side, using his momentum and body weight in hopes to at the very least drive the breath from the tabby's body.
in the garden of evil I'm gonna be the greatest Wavepaw, RainClan Apprentice 13 Moons Graywolf NightClan She-Cat 24 Moons The gray she-cat was not the best fighter in Nightclan, nor would she probably every be with her slender stature. She was more suited to being a huntress, but that didn't mean that the troublemaker didn't know how to kick tail when it she felt like it, or it was needed.
And at the moment, she felt like kicking this apprentice's tail.
He had gotten away with trouble at the Gathering, but now it was just him and his fellow Rainclanner caught in the violent claws of two formidable Nightclanners. Also, perhaps it would lessen her own clanmate's foul temper, getting to shred some pelts for fun.
Quick as she was, the gray feline knew she wouldn't be able to dodge the fast leap of Wasp-paw, nearly a heartbeat after Gracklestrike led her own vicious assault. Instead of worrying about dodging, Graywolf waited until she felt the sting of claws digging into her soft fur as the Bengal's weight threatened to buckle her legs.
That smirk finally slipping from her muzzle, the slender feline moved with the momentum of the apprentice's leap in a fluid motion. Her right side dropped as she went to roll and squish his form against the ground. Twisting her wriggling form, Graywolf quickly found her paws again as she stood back up to face Wasp-paw head on.
A snarl was now twisting her face, green pools blazing with an intense fire as her feathered tail lashed behind her with passion. Her shoulders stung slightly as her hackles raised, that shredded ear of hers flickered as she faintly hoped to keep her pretty pelt from being marred... again.
"My turn little fish." Her voice was deadly cold this time, that silky purr draining away from the siren as she shot forwards, speed on her side as her claws dug into the ground to propel her forwards, head on at the spotted tomcat. Lowering her head, Graywolf aimed a headbutt towards his chest in an attempt to knock the tom off balance before a gray paw lashed out to slice claws down his face.

{ } I won't suffer, be broken, get tired, or wasted Surrender to nothing ~ Adrenaline coursed in her veins, her smile wide with malice. A fun little game infolded in front of her. The RainClan cat had no business starting a fight with a NightClan cat, much less with Gracklestrike. That was apparent with his foolish counter. In vain he rushed her. 'Trying to knock me over? The idea came to her lazily, her weight dropped to keep her steady. When he collided he did manage to push her but only slightly. Despite the hatred for her sire, she would have to thank him, before she kills him of course, for her sturdy form. Not allowing him much time to recover, Gracklestrike clawed at him. One paw swipe after the other. Not bothering to check if she made contact, she simply slashed. The familiar sensation of blood between her claws told her that she had been decently successful with her blows. Lacking the stamina to maintain a prolonged attack, Gracklestrike backed off only slightly. Panting, her heart raced with focused rage. Similarly to his aggressor, Wavepaw panted to catch his breath having been the defensive one. Distracted by glancing toward Wasp-paw, Gracklestrike lunged for him again. This time colliding in an attempt to pin him. Sinking her claws into his shoulders she used all her might to slam him hard into the ground, a cloud of dust forming with the hit. Her claws dug deep into what flesh she could, teeth bared in an ivory smile. It would almost be too easy. Sink her teeth into Wavepaw's neck and feel the blood in her mouth, she'd leave him for dead. Victory or death. Almost in slow motion, her jaw went for his neck but a different, deeper growl alerted to something else. Colliding with her and forcing her claws off of Wavepaw in a rip of flesh was Gullswoop. Marginally larger then Gracklestrike. Gullswoop had moons of experience and a paternal instinct to protect those in his care motivating him to defend Wavepaw so savagely. The snarl that escape Gracklestrike sounded almost insane. Her claws reddened with Wavepaw's blood marred Gullswoop's silver and grey fur. The senior warrior refused to waver, matching Gracklestrike hit for hit. Manging to swipe hard at her ear, sending her stumbling back as they started to ring. "ENOUGH!:" He roared, standing tall, eyes locked onto Gracklestrike as she tried to recover quick enough to go again. Her vision blurred, claws digging into the earth to steady herself. The adrenaline waning. ~ GRACKLESTRIKE

Wasp-paw let out a sharp exhale as Graywolf rolled on the ground, her weight squeezing all the air out the small tom's lungs. Scrambling up, Wasp-paw took a few deep breaths to recover the air that had been knocked out of him. The fear that was creeping up on the bengal tom vanished once he saw the blood dripping down the large warrior's pelt. It was oddly graceful; a she-cat of ethereal beauty, tainted by the blood and anger of this world, a snarl contorting her soft features into cruel ones.
That moment of reflection didn't last long. Graywolf was charging headfirst at him now after a cold threat. Wasp-paw, however, was much faster than she was. The petite cat jumped out of her way, but his reflexes proved useless as he landed and lost his balance quickly. That stumble was all it took for Graywolf to rake her claws over Wasp-paw's small face.
Pain exploded on his muzzle, causing Wasp-paw to yowl. The bloodied apprentice backed away, his ears swiveling around in confusion. Blood was dripping into his eyes, into his mouth, into his nose. His sense of hearing was the only sense he could rely on right now. It wasn't enough. But Wasp-paw couldn't think about that.
Footsteps thundering around him, Wasp-paw braced himself for another attack. Baring his bloodstained teeth, Wasp-paw let out an uncharacteristically menacing growl. "I dare you to try and send me to Starclan."

Panic started to swell within the young tom's chest, and it was so obvious that he was at a great disadvantage in this fight. His slender form, though quick, was not build with strength or power that would helpful in battle type situations. Perhaps if he had started off with the advantage, but the blue-gray apprentice had not been prepared for such a violent skirmish between a pawful of cats on each side of the border.
Gracklestrike's harsh scent, like mud and pines, suffocated his nose and mouth as he was thrown so easily onto the ground. The impact sent the air rushing from his lungs, and almost immediately pain seared through his entire body as claws ripped into his shoulder. A growl parted the young tom's muzzle, refusing to cry out and give his attacker any satisfaction. Tail lashing and her larger frame pinning him to the ground, the Rainclanner tried all he could to free himself from such a problem.
His tail lashed again, claws frantically batting at the air and her chest as he tried to push her off. Green pools widened as she went in for the killing blow, teeth bright and poised before suddenly Gracklestrike had been thrown from his body with force. A familiar scent and pelt brought a rush of relief flooding through Wavepaw's tired, bleeding stature as he pulled himself up to his paws. Wincing slightly at the pain within his right shoudler.
Gullswoop!
Those green pools of Wavepaw's found his mentor easily matching blow for blow with the Nightclan warrioress. It was an impressive sight to see, and only the slightest bit of envy wriggled through the younger tom. He wished he could battle as swiftly and smoothly as his mentor, but alas hunting was truly were Wavepaw excelled. With time and experience he would probably gain a better battle prowess, but it wasn't today.
The young tom glanced over to where Wasp-paw was now free from the grasps of Graywolf, as his own white pelted mentor had joined in the battle, saving the two outmatched apprentices. There was a stir of pride within Wavepaw, both for his mentors and his clan. Though Nightclan had tried to cause problems, it seemed the clan among the river could handle itself. And yet, that pride was damped as he realized that both he and his fellow friend would probably be getting an earful for starting such an encounter...
Especially with their leader requesting neutrality from all of them. in the garden of evil I'm gonna be the greatest Wavepaw, RainClan Apprentice 13 Moons 429 Words || Ginger HellionGraywolf NightClan She-Cat 24 Moons "I dare you to try and send me to Starclan."
The sight of the apprentice blinded by his own blood, with a growl far bigger than his small form and a threatening statement almost caused the gray feline to pause and laugh out loud despite the seriousness of the situation around them. It did, however, cause that smirk on her maw to widen even more as she gladly accepted.
"With pleasure little fish." Her silky tone a low growl as she darted forwards and leaped, planning to pin the handsome young Bengal to the ground in a similar fashion that her clanmate had done to the other, little blue apprentice from Rainclan.
Though as her green flames narrowed there was a faint question within the warrioress' mind as if she could actually take the life of the youngest in such a fashion. It wouldn't be cold-blooded as they were currently in the midst of a brawl, but still, it was ending a life...
Graywolf didn't have much time to reflect on the idea before something white slammed into her with such force that she hit the ground and rolled before finding her paws, ears ringing ever so slightly as deja vu relived within her brain. It was all very similar to when she had been practically run over by Timberfrost during the fight with Treeclan.
But instead of massive, dark tabby and icy blue, Graywolf was met with the slender, white from of Wasp-paw's mentor, Skychaser. His duel colored pools, blue and green blazed with protectiveness and offensiveness as he stood between her and the younger Rainclanner.
A hiss broke through Graywolf's maw as she felt her hackles raise along her shoulders. She knew that they were outnumbered once she saw the forms of Gullswoop and Gracklestrike exchanging blows before she too went tumbling across the ground. Feathered tail lashed, ears twitching at Gullswoop's booming voice.
"This is over, go home now!" Skychaser's tone was deep and calm, albeit demanding as he spoke. He and gullswoop were both older and much more experienced warriors than the two Nightclanners, not to mention there were four of them and only two of the shadowy she-cats.
"Gracklestrike..." Graywolf started, her green pools burned a hole into Skychaser who stood his ground without fear. "We'll have to come back when they decide to play fair..." She snarled in a chilly tone before letting those pools slide back to where Wasp-paw was. "Until next time... little fish."
