Moonfeather ------------ They had only been heading to stretch their legs on a short jaunt to the Sparkling Brook, it should have been safe. She'd even gotten Amberwing to come with her just in case. The fish were very active in the brook because of the rain, though something seemed off about it. The water was very high, the banks sticky with wet ground. She didn't think anything of it, she'd fished in these waters in worse weather. Water had never bothered her.
What she hadn't expected was the bank disappearing under her paws and dropping into the brook, the current much stronger than she'd ever swam it before. "Oh!" she cried out as her body hit the water and was immediately pulled under, paws beating at the water to drag herself back towards the surface. But she couldn't find the surface. Her body kept flipping round and round, her lungs burned and she hurt all over. She kept hitting the bottom, hitting debris in the current with her. Was she going to die?
Moonfeather could hear her daughter's voice somewhere far away, begging her to...something. There was another body in the water, bigger and stronger than hers. Amberwing.
'No sweetheart, swim for shore. Mother will be fine....'
-------------- Amberwing -------------- This couldn't be happening. This couldn't be happening! She'd seen the soil give out under her mother's paws, had seen the startled look in green eyes before she hit the water and was swept under. It was okay, her mother was the strongest swimmer in TreeClan. She expected she'd pop back up and be okay. But she didn't. Her familiar frame never surfaced again, and dread settled into the she-cat's heart.
"Mother! Hold on I'm coming!" She bellowed it and leapt into the rushing brook, the water moving far swifter than it should have. The river must have overflowed the banks further in and the backlog was flowing towards smoother places. Strong limbs struck at the water as the young warrior searched for the grey form in the water. She dove several times, each one becoming more and more frantic as she didn't find any sign of her mother, just blood splattered against stones and branches washed this way.
There was so much blood, where was her mother? She was also drifting further from shore, further towards the river proper. If that happened she'd be swept away too. Self preservation overwhelmed her desperate need to save her mother and the huntress swam for shore. Exhausted and water logged, she still looked up and down the shoreline, praying to whatever power was listening for her to find her mother washed up on shore somewhere close by. Surely she'd made it to shore, she was just hurt and waiting for her daughter to save her. It was okay. It was okay.
She searched and called until her throat was raw, then finally felt the cold dread of realization set in. She had to go back to camp, ask for help. All the blood...Fawnspring...Fawnspring would help her!
Amberwing ran back to camp, her body shaking with exhaustion and dripping from the swim. "Fawnspring! Fawnspring where are you!?" It didn't occur to her that she was drawing attention to herself, that the clan was coming out to see what the trouble was. "Fawnspring, Aspenfire, mother, its mother. She...she fell in the water and got pulled under. You have to help me find her! Please, there's so much blood, she needs help now!" Her eyes were wide, tears blurring her vision as she searched frantically for her brother and sister.

Fawnspring 34 MOONS - SHE-CAT - TREECLANHorror rippled through TreeClan's camp like a shockwave, and Fawnspring was at the epicenter of it. Her meal forgotten, her stomach twisting and writhing like a trapped snake, she scrambled to her paws. Fawnspring had never seen Amberwing like this. Rarely had her sister ever shed tears. Rarely had her calm, poised littermate shown her any side other than maturity and quiet strength.
But that version of Amberwing had been washed away, like their mother.
"What? No! Oh StarClan, protect her!" Fawnspring squeaked, trembling with pent up energy even as she shouted over her shoulder for her best friend. For Thornheart. "Thornheart! Please, I need your help! We have to find her! Aspenfire? Aspenfire are you there?" No matter what their littermate thought of the she-cat who had raised him, Fawnspring believed deep in her heart that he would rise to the occasion when her kits needed her most.
Fawnspring's heart lurched. She said there was blood. So much blood.
The spot she was standing in suddenly darkened. Instead of Thornheart's shadow dwarfing her, Fawnspring found herself looking up into the broad masculine face of Lionstar. "We'll find her," he intoned, voice stern and strong as he began to dole out orders. "Go, I'll send a rescue party as back up."
Fawnspring blinked gratefully and pivoted on tiny paws to Amberwing. "Please lead the way." Hold on mother, we're coming! Even as more cats spoke up, volunteering to help or throwing in their opinions, Fawnspring was aware of Lionstar's orders creating purpose out of panic and chaos.
"Lightspirit, Blackwater, Berrythorn, go to StarClan's Claws and try to intercept her where the brook merges with the river. Sprucefur, Redbird, Foxfur - provide Fawnspring and Amberwing with all the support they need. Comb the brook from end to end if you have to, but be careful."
Good. That meant she could focus all her energy on finding Moonfeather, whatever the cost. As we soared above the town that never loved me I realized I finally had a family ❋ 315 Words ❋ Justice Hellion BlooRey DVD (Thornheart mention) ❋ Notes@jet (keeping you in the loop on TC events)

He had kept to himself since the gathering. Thought often of Ferngaze and thought often about his family. Their relationship remained painfully strained. He'd often sit by the wayside, wishing he had the courage to talk to Fawnspring about what happened. Wanted to find comfort in his sisters again. Yes he meant both of them. Despite the pain she caused and the scar that laid barely hidden under his fur, Aspenfire wanted to be close to Amberwing again. He wanted to forget the truth of his birth but that remained an impossible task. He wanted to call Moonfeather mother again but guilt made it difficult. The things he said weren't easily forgotten. How could he expect Moonfeather to forgive him when he couldn't forgive himself.
Trying to stay busy until the next time he saw Ferngaze, Aspenfire had been preparing to head out for a patrol when Amberwing's cries caught his attention. Panic filled his chest at her words. Swept away!? He rushed forward, there wasn't much time. They need to get her before it was too late.
"When we get there I'll swim as far as I can, maybe I can catch up with her," A more proficient swimmer thanks to Ferngaze's teaching, Aspenfire remained determined to find her.

She was always the calm one in their family, having inherited her mother's inner strength and resolve. But this, this broke her. Even she couldn't hold onto her grudge against Aspenfire when their mother was missing like this. If Moonfeather were truly to have died...oh StarClan wouldn't be enough to stop her from razing this entire forsaken clan to the ground! Destroy it, kill all but her family and the family belonging to her mentor, and rebuild the clan. This shouldn't be happening! Amberwing was so happy to see her brother and sister, headbutting them shakily as her body swayed and she panted frantically. She realized she was making some rather terrified sounds and took a deep breath to try and calm herself. Her mother needed her now. "This way." She told them, turning sharp and running despite the trembling in her limbs, the exhaustion in her body from swimming against the raging current and then running home again. Lionstar's orders she didn't even hear, the only voices to register belonged to her brother and sister. They were the only important ones right now. They were going to help her find their mother, nothing else mattered. "The water is high and runs fast, and debris from upstream is clogging it. It isn't safe to swim, I tried." However. "If you must then stick to the sides of the water as much as possible, the current isn't as strong and I'll watch you from shore and pull you out if you get caught up. Please don't tire yourself out. I couldn't bare to see another member of my family be pulled under the water." There were heavy pawsteps nearby, and she realized Falconstorm had stepped out to understand what was happening. He could only stay behind while they bolted from camp, preparing to treat injured. Or worse, prepare to hold a vigil should the gray she-cat have passed. Fawn @jet Hellion

Fawnspring 34 MOONS - SHE-CAT - TREECLANFawnspring's stomach pulsed with dread. The brook! It was much higher than she'd imagined, and the thought of trying to swim it, to see through the muddy churning water that lapped over the banks with wet, greedy tongues, made her heart shiver. "A-Aspenfire are you sure? I don't want you to get hurt." There was a determined look in the black and white tom's eyes that Fawnspring couldn't recall seeing before.
In fact, this was the most time the three of them had ever spent together, since the truth had come out.
Fawnspring gulped, cursing her small useless body as Amberwing already assured Aspenfire that she would rescue him if he needed to. A fat bough bobbed against the surface, crashing into the bank and forcing Fawnspring to skitter back to avoid the splash. "Maybe we can float down the brook? If we see mother, we can pull her out or at least find where she is!"
In her mind's eye, she could see Moonfeather's soft-gray pelt plastered to her body, and she could see Aspenfire and Amberwing - far stronger than she - launching themselves from the makeshift raft to help Moonfeather to shore. I can't do much, but I can use my eyes and my ears to find her.
Or, if her siblings liked the plan, a log big enough to support all of their combined weight. "Maybe two of us can float and one can run along the bank, just to make sure we don't miss anything!" Fawnspring's stomach pulsed again and she had to resist the urge to hunker down and mewl like a kit. "We have to hurry." SOME LEGENDS ARE TOLD, SOME TURN TO DUST OR TO GOLDThoRnHeaRt 33 Moons || Tom || TreeClan Fawnspring's panicked voice cut through his sleep with ease, the tabby tom's head snapping up in response. Despite having been part of the Dawn Patrol, he found no sign of exhaustion left, not knowing that his best friend needed his help. Practically sprinting from his nest, leaping straight over the forms of other waking warriors, the big tom burst through the entrance to the warrior's den in time to hear Lionstar's orders. His name was not one of those called forth to help, but that would do little to dissuade the brown maine coon.
Amber eyes locked with Lionstar's gaze momentarily, the message behind his intense gaze clear. He meant no disrespect to TreeClan's figurehead, but the last thing he was about to do was stand around and do nothing when Fawnspring needed him. With a slight inclination of his muzzle in an attempt to display his respect for Lionstar, the big tabby pushed himself forward after the receding forms of Fawnspring and her siblings. He caught up at the brook, just in time to hear snippets of the conversation occurring between them. And it didn't sound good. Moonfeather was in trouble, and her three kits were desperately trying to sort out a way to rescue her.
Stepping forward and pressing himself to Fawnspring's side, Thornheart's deep voice rumbled suddenly. "I'll run 'long the bank with whoever else stays up 'ere. I can't do much in the water, not with my size 'n coat length, but I can use that size to help pull anyone who needs it out of the water." He spoke, tail flicking worriedly behind him. Amber eyes moved to Fawnspring, and though he meant his next words to be for any of the siblings, he found himself unable to look away from her, his maw turned down in a concerned frown.
"I'm here for ya. Just tell me what ya need me to do." Sure, he was a big tom, and could sometimes be in the way. He recognized that not everyone was exactly thrilled with who he was. He didn't need the whole Clan to like him for who he was. Only Fawnspring's opinion mattered, in his mind. But Amberwing and Aspenfire would be stupid to not recognize that he'd be useful in this situation. Whether it be to pull someone from the river as he said, or to carry a body back to camp.
Though he didn't want to think about that. BUT YOU WILL REMEMBER ME FOR CENTURIES ~400 words Fawn He wants to help D:

He kept up with Amberwing as she led them to where their mother slipped into the water. Amber eyes widened, no amount of teaching prepared him for this.
Debris only offered a hazard to a cat actively in the water. The thought of Moonfeather hitting her head came to him. Perhaps it would end up as a retrieval opposed to rescue mission. If she had been struck by something she'd be far off into StarClan by now.
Shaking his head to rid himself of such a thought, he glanced at Fawnspring. Putting together in his head her idea. Luck would need to be on their side and all the blessings of StarClan too.
Thornheart joined them, Aspenfire gave an approving nod to the other tom's offer to help. They needed all the strength for such an endeavor.
"We can float it, use it to keep our strength. Even if the current is slow it can easily steal all our energy," As he spoke, Aspenfire went closer to the edge. Perhaps too small but it would have to do, he dislodged a hefty branch. Careful to push down the extra small limbs, he paused. "We can do this if we work together," His words directed at Amberwing, knowing she'd join him. "Fawnspring and Thornheart can go along the edge to help if needed," Glancing toward the mentioned cats, he waited for them to agree.
