Dawnpaw rested his head upon his large paws, closing his eyes and enjoying his moment of rest. Earlier in the day, he and Kestrelclaw had met up to train, and Dawnpaw felt the toll that the training had taken on him. Every muscle felt heavy, and he was rather sore. Of course, the young tabby would never had noticed his fatigue had he not lay down. And of course, he would never let anyone else know he was tired; it would give them the impression that he wasn't a capable warrior. After thinking about his fatigue from the day, Dawnpaw's mind happened upon his sister, Paintedpaw. She was always complaining about something, whether it be exhaustion or their birth-mother. Dawnpaw raised his head up, eyes opening wide to see if his sister was anywhere in the clearing. No success. There aren't too many places she could be. She's either training or moping about somewhere.
Dawnpaw stood up, attempting to shake off the fatigue and soreness, and trotted light-heartedly over to the fresh-kill pile, picking up a large squirrel. Despite his sister's constant state of misery, Dawnpaw loved to share a meal with her at least once a day. Sometimes they talked, and sometimes they just sat there in the comfort of each other's company. It was something that the young tabby looked forward to every day. The first place he thought to look was the Apprentice Den. Paintedpaw had not been a fan of the recent heat, so it would only make sense for her to be inside. Dawnpaw poked his head into the den, the squirrel dangling around.
His golden eyes focused in on a resting figure: Paintedpaw! Completely forgetting how tired he was, Dawnpaw hopped over to his sister and dropped the squirrel in front of her and giving her a loving lick on the head. "I feel like I haven't seen you all day. I missed you!" The happy tom couldn't contain his purring, dropping down beside Paintedpaw and taking a bite out of the squirrel. 339 words Notes: Kind of a classic set-up, but it's super open-ended for everyone to join in and start brewing trouble! Paintedpaw 6 Moons - Stoneclan Apprentice - Mentor: Cicadasong
She had been up early, earlier than she would have liked as the young apprentice had been dragged onto the dawn patrol with her mentor and a few other cats. Not only did the moderately medium coated feline had to deal with the growing heat of Greenleaf, but she also had to deal with the comfortableness of the rising sun and it's blazing light. From a young age the dark tortie had learned that she preferredthe darkness of night to the blindingness of day.
Now, if only the rest of Stoneclan could follow along with that.
The young apprentice had been resting, trying to cool herself from the burning sun and seasonal heat, but curling up within the apprentice's den. However, her restless nap had been interrupted by an all too familiar voice. Dawnpaw. A feathered tail had been covering the ginger and black she-cat's face, but upon her brother's arrival green pools could be seen peaking from between her plumed fur.
Annoyance was already plastered upon Paintedpaw's face before she lifted her head and gave a slow flick of one ear. Green pools were blank of most expression, though a dreary light was a constant feature within the emerald pools. Her expression continued to deadpan as her head slightly bobbed from her brother's affectionate lick against her forehead, though the slightest flicker of her tail was visible.
"You saw me yesterday." It was her singular response as she finally resigned to getting any rest and pulled herself to her haunches to sit down, feathered tail wrapping around her paws tightly and neatly. Her raspy tone was sullen as her normal temperament bordered along pessimistic and moody. Despite her constant dreariness and chilly sarcasm, Paintedpaw did care for her brother. One of very few that she was more considerate of, her biting remarks and comments a little softer towards him.
And though she wouldn't admit it, Paintedpaw didn't mind the evening wind-down that she had with Dawnpaw. They shared a meal and she listened to him chatter while she complained about how cheery he was. The two were absolute opposites, sun and moon, night and day. Her brother was just so... optimistic, so bouncy and friendly, meanwhile Paintedpaw couldn't care less about those around her let alone give enough effort or motivation to engage in tiresome communication.
It was all so bothersome.
Glancing at the squirrel, Paintedpaw could feel her stomach growl ever so slightly. She had never been one with a big appitite, nor did she often eat several times a day. "Did you catch this, or did it wander up to sit in your paws?" Her tone was the same as always, though she sounded like the was using a lot of effort to spark a conversation between the siblings. Usually, she let Dawnpaw do all the talking, all the exploring, all the action. She just happened to get dragged along no matter how much she protested or complained.

"There has to be something to do around here. I'm so darn bored."An orange and white tabby tom paced the clearing back and forth, his tail flicking about as though he was agitated. He had been freed of training for the day so he literally had nothing more to do. Or at least it sure seemed like it. It was more like there were responsibilities that needed tended to but the tom had no desire to do them. So instead he paced around as though there was nothing more for him. An act that was starting to bore him even more. He grumbled to himself before moving to sit out front of the apprentice's den. He had to find something of interest before he began pulling his fur out. Maybe another apprentice would pass by that he could convince to do something with him. Or a warrior to try and entertain him. Then, like clockwork, another tom passed by him and slid into the apprentice's den. Goldenpaw blinked. He recognized the other feline as Dawnpaw, one of the latest additions to the den. Goldenpaw stood and peered into the den after the tabby tom. His eyes making out a figure towards the back of the den as Dawnpaw made his way over to them. He made out the tortie coat of Dawnpaw's sister Paintedpaw as the two conversed. Hmmmm. The gears in the tom's head began to spin watching the two younger apprentices. Maybe he could get the two of them to go on an adventure with him in the forest. He imagined it could be fun running around with younger cats. He wasn't sure what they could find but he was interested in trying. But for now, he let the two of them enjoy each other for a moment, his head still peeking into the den. Words:308 ● Tagged:@tagged

Dawnpaw smiled at his sister's sarcastic reply. He knew that she too valued their daily get-togethers, she just showed her affection in very unique ways. "Sure you saw me yesterday! But guess what?" The large tabby rolled over, flashing his spotted belly at Paintedpaw. "You're going to see me tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after, and a million days after!" He rolled back over, ready to take another bite out of the squirrel before hearing yet another snide remark.
The young tom puffed out his chest and tried to sound all big and intimidating. "I hunted it myself, caught it 'sleeping' on the fresh-kill pile." He was no master at it, but Dawnpaw knew his sister appreciated a little sarcasm here and there. Sometimes, he would try his best to reach her via her way of talking. At the very least, it would annoy her into talking to him more. "Tell you the truth, I haven't done too much hunting yet. But Kestrelclaw is the best mentor! And he works me a l-", what was that? Dawnpaw's ears angled backwards until he could hear the breathing of a cat near them. Without looking to see who it was, Dawnpaw leaned towards his sister and spoke with a poor attempt of a hushed voice. "Don't be scared, but I think someone is watching us!"
The young apprentice dearly hoped that it was not a warrior. These days, a warrior showing up at the Apprentice's Den meant an odd chore. While Dawnpaw loved going out of the camp and learning how to be a great warrior, he was not a big fan of the little chores that apprentices so often had to do. Although, he did love to help out the elders because they had some great stories to tell and were quite fun to talk to about his trials as an apprentice of Stoneclan.
Paintedpaw was the pair's best way to see whomever it was who was looking at them -- she was angled to where she had been facing the front of the den. Dawnpaw looked at her inquiringly, waiting for her to tell him who was watching the two apprentices.

Paintedpaw 6 Moons - Stoneclan Apprentice - Mentor: Cicadasong
Her brother talked away as she bent her head to take a small bite out of the ginger furred creature he had brought to the den, the taste was delicious and savory as she swallowed before running her tongue over her maw. Despite the fact that she seemed to hardly be paying attention to a single word Dawnpaw said, everything was retained within her head as she actively listened subtly. Something she had learned to do quite well since all three of her siblings were three different types of talkative and bright. How the darkly colored tortoiseshell managed to be the only quiet, dreary one was a mystery.
Shifting within her nest, the black and ginger she-cat lifted a front paw only to lick the multicolored limb and drag it across her nose to clean it of anything left after her singular bite of prey. And tufted ear twitched at the new noise that made it's way into the fairly empty den and only seconds later her brother practically shoved his face into hers with wide eyes and a not so quiet whisper that had the painted feline to roll her dull green pools.
"Careful Dawnpaw, they might here you." Paintedpaw's sarcastic, disinterested rasp sounded at a normal level of tone which wasn't all that different from her brother's previous tone. Unreadable pale orbs moved to look past her tabby sibling's head towards the entrance of the Apprentice's Den to spot the white and golden form of one of the older apprentices. Despite the medium length of his pale coat, it couldn't hide the round features of his face as it peaked through the opening with wide eyes.
Goldenpaw.
Wriggling her nose ever so slightly, Paintedpaw let her pale gaze hold with Goldenpaw's yellow gaze for just a moment. He was ten moons old, and had been an apprentice for some time before the young she-cat and her tabby coated brother moved in to share the same den. There had been little to no interaction between them, though to be honest, Paintedpaw was fine with having little to no interaction with as many cats as she could.
The multicolored feline had never been overly fond of intense interactions with others.
"Goldenpaw, are you going to come in or just hover out there like a fly." Paintedpaw asked in a deadpan tone, letting her indifferent gaze linger for a moment long before returning it to her tabby coated brother near her. She had given him the answer he had desired, to know who was spying on them. The she-cat was slightly curious as to who else Dawnpaw could have possibly thought was there, but with a flick from the tip of her plume tail, the thought disappeared as she was no longer interested.

Yellow orbs watched the younger apprentices with a slight curiosity. The older tom hadn't really interacted with the younger pair so he had no idea what they were like. But from watching the siblings talk, he could already tell that they were almost complete opposites. Dawnpaw seemed like the happy-go-lucky sort while Paintedpaw come across as the dreary, sarcastic type of cat. How the two of them got along was beyond the older apprentice. He didn't have such luck with his own siblings, unfortunately. Goldenpaw's family was broken, to be totally honest. He had a falling out with his sister, Sunpaw, so the two of them wouldn't even speak to one another let alone be caught in the same place at the same time. And while he still spoke with his brother, Blazepaw, the two of them really didn't hang out either. Their relationship was more of a mutual understanding. So watching this pair, he truly didn't understand that familial bond they shared. He had never experienced such a thing so there was a slight flash of envy in his eyes watching them share a squirrel. "Goldenpaw, are you going to come in or just hover out there like a fly."The sound of Paintedpaw's voice sounding from inside the den snapped the tom back to the situation at hand. Apparently the siblings had noticed his presence while thoughts of his family had him distracted. Paintpaw's green eyes were watching him expectantly from across the den, Dawnpaw's back still turned to him. "I was letting you two enjoy your lunch." He meowed, stepping further into the opening. "I personally do not like when someone interrupts me while I eat. So I figured I'd be nice enough to let you two enjoy before barging in here."

At Paintedpaw's comment, Dawnpaw perked up his hears. Goldenpaw was an older apprentice, so he must know a lot more cool stuff than he and his sister did. Turning his large head, Dawnpaw looked over to the spotted apprentice as he edged further into the den. "Come join us!" Maybe if he got Goldenpaw talking, the older apprentice would offer to teach the brother and sister a thing or two... or even take them out for some fun!
Dawnpaw took another bite of the squirrel, his mouth still full of food when he began to talk once more. "Don't mind Paintedpaw, she's grumpy all the time, but she has a heart buried somewhere deep down in there." The young tabby nudged his sister with a playful and loving manner, still chewing loudly. The love that Dawnpaw had for his sister was unmatched by anything else. The two siblings, despite their differences, were like peas in a pod. They understood each other's personalities in a way that no one else could, making them incredibly close.
However, while Paintedpaw never wanted to interact with anyone unless she had to, Dawnpaw absolutely adored it. Strange new faces becoming familiar ones, strangers becoming friends. These were the things Dawnpaw lived for, especially knowing that more friends meant more cats he could trust, more cats he could help.
Turning his gaze again to Goldenpaw, Dawnpaw purred. "Tell us all about the fun stuff you've done!" Of course, Dawnpaw didn't really want to hear about it. He wanted the older apprentice to show them - although he was a little shy to ask it straight-up.
