Redscar had been selected to lead the third and final group of joint clan badger assault force. Their mission was to rid the valley of the black and white striped menace, and his group was tasked with ensuring that any stragglers were convinced never to return. He was joined by two Lightningclan warriors and one Stoneclan apprentice, and he felt the pressure of his command. If anything were to happen to Palepaw it was likely that Lightningclan would be blamed for her demise, and the burning hatred that had finally begun to cool between the clans would find new fuel to reignite it to its' former glory.

Holding a position apart from the other groups, Redscars' entourage watched as Hawkstar and his team kicked off assault by engaging the mother badger. It was clear that they had their hands full, however Stoneclans' leader was nothing if not a professional and with the main threat indisposed the plan was ready to proceed to phase two. Right on cue the second group of cats, lead by Firestar, entered the den and it wasn't long before the first badger cub was forced out. Watching intently as the carefully controlled chaos unfolded before them Redscar's group kept track of the paths all the badgers took upon fleeing.

Upon seeing a member of the second group exit the now empty badger den and give the signal Redscar gave the order, "Our turn, let's move." Taking off in the direction of the first badger Redscar set the pace, they were going to need to move quickly engage each target. It wasn't long before they encountered a flustered cub who had not fled near far enough from the battle in hopes it would be found by its siblings or mother. It had no such luck. "Finish it quickly."

Take me in, into your darkest hour

Palepaw was determined. She knew Smokestorm was worried for her- both about the badger and about the cats she was with- but the younger felt certain LightningClan could be trusted. Why would they hurt her? She was a bit more wary of Redscar simply because of the rank he held, and the vivid scar that traced from eye to cheek, but even he had been civil to her. Their task was probably the least dangerous, and Palepaw hoped it would go smoothly.

At Redscar's word she set out beside him, matching his pace, and as they neared the first cub she bolted forward, streaking past and flashing out a paw to score its flank, but not stopping until she was out of range. She circled back, then, watching as the others moved to bother the young badger and get it moving. She wasn't sure if they were expected to kill it, but she hoped not. Just chasing them off Clan territory would be enough. Especially if they impressed how frightening Clan cats could be on the young ones.

Trailing at a short distance, Palepaw watched the three LightningClan cats, waiting for the next opening to dart in and snap at the young badger's heels to keep it moving. So far, so good!

She'd followed Redscar closely, creeping along quietly and listening to the world around them. With an apprentice along for this she worried someone was going to get hurt, hopefully that someone wouldn't be the StoneClan apprentice helping them on this venture. Larkflower had offered to chase because she was so fast, far too small to be of much use in a fight. But then Redscar made the order. Finish it, he said, and she looked at him for a moment before launching herself forward along with the apprentice.

Protect the apprentice, make sure no mother had to hear of her offspring's injury in this mess. A safe task, an easy task for an apprentice or small warrior like her. 'StarClan, please watch over the young ones and send them safely home to their mothers.'

She waited until Palepaw made her first go at the young badger before darting forward and plowing right into the cub, sending both of them rolling for a short distance before she leapt away and let the disgruntled and terrified cub start to run away. She felt a pang on her underside but dismissed it. Her job wasn't done yet and she fell into step with the other cats in the group once again to await another chance to corral the cub along whatever way Redscar wanted it to go.

It had honestly been no surprise when the black she-cat had been assigned to the group she was. Batear was a very quick and lithe cat with a dark coat, built for speed and stamina. She and three others were to chase off the badgers that ran from the den to make sure they didn't come back, which seemed easy enough of a job as long as none of the badgers got testy. In Batear's mind, she only intended to chase them off. Yes, badgers were quite the nuisance, but Batear was never a cat who was intent on killing any and every creature that could pose a threat. Death was not as appealing to her as it may have been to some other cats.

This was apparent as she and her three companions waited for their signal to make their move. She, Redscar, Larkflower, and an Apprentice named Palepaw from Stoneclan waited for the signal, though Bat personally wasn't entirely sure about the course of action they were to take. The primary goal was to get them away from the border and out of both territories, but Redscar's statement almost suggested killing the creatures. The green gaze of the dark she-cat side-glanced in the tom's direction when he stated to "finish it quickly", unsure of what he was suggesting. She looked back towards the young badger that had emerged from the den.

On Redscar's command, the first to dash forward towards the badger was young Palepaw, followed by Larkflower. A bold move of an Apprentice to rush straight forward into the fray like that, but she was not of Lightningclan, so she had no right to judge what decisions the she-cat made. Unlike her two companions, Batear didn't immediately rush forward towards the badger cub. Instead, she began to walk away from Redscar and did go in the same direction as the badger was fleeing, but did not go straight at it. Her walk turned into a light jog as the other two cats came into contact with the badger. She watched as she kept up with them a small distance away, seeing the quick attack Palepaw pulled off and the tumbling of fur and claw as Larkflower leaped into it.

After the badger cub had released itself from Lark's rolling embraced, Batear still kept pace with the creature, watching every move it made to guarantee that it wouldn't go in an unfavorable direction. When she noticed the black and white critter beginning to veer off in the direction of Stoneclan's territory, she ran quickly behind and passed the small badger, turning next to it and swiping her claws at its muzzle. It let out a squeal and turned back away from that side. Hoping that she wasn't getting too far, Bat found herself slowing her pace and looking back to Redscar, awaiting his approval or displeasure in the progress.

The party was clearly beginning to persuade the young badger that this was no longer it's home. The assaults from each cat left the creature more aggravated and confused, however even though ground had been given the badger obviously wasn't convinced it was truly it's time to leave. Redscar figured he was the perfect cat to deliver the clearest of messages, and after Batear began to herd the badger so it wouldn't flee further into the territories Lightningclans' deputy positioned himself directly in front of his target imposingly. After delivering a few warning swipes Redscar managed to coax the badger into attacking, and bore the badgers ire as its claws rent the flesh on his shoulder. This was by design and allowed Redscar to deliver a powerful retaliatory strike across the face the badger that had foolishly closed the distance between them. A cry of pain rang out after Redscars' claws mercilessly tore through the young badgers left cornea, causing it to stumble away from him blinded. "All together now!"

Palepaw watched, keeping pace with the other three as they took their turns tackling the badger. She started to dart forward to cut off the creature as it started to scamper toward StoneClan's territory, but the black she-cat beat her to it, battering the badger into turning the other way, toward the outer border.

Her ears flicked backward when the LightningClan deputy, instead of hurrying the badger along, instead moved to block it, and she couldn't quite help the gasp as he reared back and raked his claws over its face, resulting in a pained yowl that rang out. Suddenly wondering if his intent was to actually kill it, Palepaw flashed a glance at both Larkflower and Batear. She wasn't sure about speaking up in front of warriors, not to mention warriors from a different Clan, but she didn't want any part of this.

In an effort to keep to the initial plan, Palepaw darted forward, shoving the badger in the right direction once more and then leaping out of the way of a wild swipe of its paw, glad to see it turn away and start off toward the border.
