Snowpaw 

It was a lovely day for leaf -fall and the small white apprentice was eagerly waiting for her mentor at the Little Woods for a territory patrol. Ever since the fox attack in Greenleaf she had rarely left her father and mother's side, even checking in on Minkpaw, Herondive, and Vipertail. Which according to apparently  to camp gossip, made her quite unpopular with her siblings, After all she was younger than all of them and acting like a mother bird to them was both endearing and annoying. It was only because she loved them, Snowpaw muttered defensively inside her head at the thoughts, would they rather her not care at all? 

However so much attention to her family meant that her training had taken a supporting role in her life, but she had promised her mother that she would be made a mentor before she and Hawkstar retired to the Elder's den and despite her denial that her parents are ready to go to starclan, the cats that governed them all had other plans and thus she approached Sorrelclaw one day, determination in her eye and announced she wanted to be made a warrior by the time she hit 15 moons and with only a few moons to go, she needed to get started fight away. 

A noise in the bush behind her drew the apprentice's attention and she raised her hackles in suprise before sniffing the air and determining that the scent was not a threat. " They are late" she wondered aloud, blue eyes scanning the dense undergrowth for signs of Stoneclan's patrol

Little Snowpaw's declaration to be a warrior by 15 moons amused Sorrelclaw to no end. She knew her own case was special and hoped no other apprentice would have to experience it. She had been intended to be a warrior by 15 moons, yet her injury set her back almost an entire rotation of the seasons. The ambition of the younger cat was familiar, so she played to it. They would work hard, and all her techniques would be passed on. Sorrelclaw wasn't the daintiest she-cat, so she would have to be careful with teaching her apprentice battle moves. Many of her own skills relied on her stockier frame, and the sheer muscle she put on through physical therapy. It made her a formidable opponent, a fact that filled her with pride. 

Now though, Sorrelclaw trotted to Snowpaw's side for a different reason. They were going through the territory, her apprentice's memory tested rather than her body. "Jumpy today?" The warrior asked when she reached Snowpaw, spotting her jerk to examine a scent right as she appeared. Her words held a slight tease to it, a smile of concern appearing on her face. Due to her mentor, Sorrelclaw tuned into every mental change she saw in Snowpaw lest she fall prey to a bad thought- to a fox as Frozenrain had said. "Just a test of memory today, alright?" She continued with a soothing quality to her voice.

The apprentice was a little surprised when her mentor arrived alone but said nothing to Sorrelclaw, after all her own mother had trained the warrioress so she dared not question her mother's advice to the older she-cat. Frozenrain was never wrong after all...Snowpaw, from a young age, believed she was destined to take her father's place in the clan, to be Snowstar, the leader of the greatest clan in the valley and age had not suppressed that ambition despite her rocky start in life.

If she was being completely honest  Snowpaw envied Sorrelclaw and even Minkpaw in a lot of ways, her mentor and sibling were both fully healthy and fit for battle, hunting and protecting the clan , and despite the fact Snowpaw had been given a clean bill of health from Sandblaze she was still very small for her age, her delicateness as a kit remained but the sickness was gone. 

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts and to respond to Sorrelclaw's question, Snowpaw shifted her weight from one paw to the other in an attempt to calm her nerves." I thought it might have been a fox, they terrify me, especially since what happened with Dad and the other's" she admitted softly.  Frozenrain often said that Hawkstar was as great and beloved as he was because he was not scared to admit his fears, it gave the clan comfort knowing their leader was just as careful as they were. It showed they valued life as a gift from Starclan and did not waste it just because they had lives to spare. 

"What was Mum like, as a mentor?"She asked, perhaps a little too loudly, as her curiuousity got the better of her. What did her mentor think of her own mentor in turn?  Snowpaw rose to her feet as she spoke and gestured politely with her tail for Sorrelclaw to begin the patrol, her memory was excellent and she doubted she would have a problem with remembering the names of the territories that Stoneclan themselves owned as well as the ones they shared with other clans.
