Mothflight - Dustclaw - Flintfang

The sky was light grey, as if a cloud had swallowed the heavens whole. It's so beautiful! Mothflight thought, pouncing through Stoneclan territory, hoping for at least a glimpse of prey. Even another cat would lighten his spirits! There was nothing more the tom liked than to embrace the beauty of nature, though the company of another creature was something that came a close second. Snow fell lightly as the storm thinned out, dusting the several inches of snow that had accumulated yesterday. Most cats had stayed inside for the storm, though Mothflight couldn't miss such a beautiful thing. Of course, him and Dustclaw made it back, though they certainly scared the fur off of a lot of the clan, particularly their brother Flintfang.

Mothflight let out a mrreow of laughter, quickly silencing himself as the rabbit's head shot up in alarm.

The young tom was lucky the thin, white creature didn't dash off immediately. Shhh...be quiet. He assured himself, more still than a stone. He was one of few cats who had the advantage in snowy conditions, for his pelt was almost completely white, aside from a mouse brown dusting his face, paws, and tail. The young tom didn't move a muscle until the small, grey-brown creature began rummaging in the snow again. Mothflight pulled himself closer, stepping confidently over the Sun Stones, though his pace was painfully slow.

The snow would crunch if he moved too quickly or stepped too heavily.

His stomach screamed "jump!", though he continued stalking, one paw after the other. Snow had dusted his coat, the tom's blue eyes taking in the creature's every move: every twitch of its whiskers and ripple of its fur. He was just a hair out of leaping distance when the creature's head shot up. This is my only chance! He thought desperately. Mothflight bunched up his muscles and sent himself soaring through the air, front paws landing on the rabbit's hindquarters. The warrior's jaws went to latch onto its back, though a powerful, dizzying kick to his head offered him a mouthful of snow instead. Mothflight lurched forward, racing after the rabbit, adrenaline coursing through his veins, lending energy to his paws and length to his stride. Snow flew all around them as predator and prey raced past Sun Stones into Lightningclan Territory.

I've got you now! Mothflight thought excitedly, giving it one final, vigorous leap.

Sure enough, the top had brought his paws down square on the rabbits shoulders, and his fangs sank deep in its throat. A slight pool of blood was the only hint of the creature's demise: that and the messy trail that was made in Mothflight's pursuit. The top looked up from his catch, looking for the large boulder he always attributed as the mark between the Lightningclan and Stoneclan border, though to his discomfort, the large rock was several foxlengths behind him.

"What are you doing?"

Mothflight heard an accusing voice sound behind him and whipped around, the familiar brown of his brother's pelt, making his fur flatten in relief.

"We are so far past the border! What are you thinking?" Dustclaw murmured in concern, glancing around uncomfortably. It would be a shame to let the prey go to waste, and Mothflight had went through the trouble of catching it. It was Stoneclan prey. "Grab the rabbit and lets go." He muttered, playfully cuffing his brother's ears. The tom followed Mothflight as he drug the thin creature back towards Stoneclan.

"What are you doing?"

Dustclaw stopped in his tracks, the fur along his spine rising in alarm. You're kidding me. He thought, dread washing over him like a tsunami. When he turned around, he saw a ginger and white tom with a hostile, golden gaze, tail flicking in irritation. The Lightningclan cat's gaze settled on the rabbit at Mothflight's paws.

This isn't going to be good. Dustclaw thought, the thin, weak snow shower still continuing to blur his vision.

Commotion. It drew the attention of someone still unseen. A yellow gaze flashed over the terrain, dark curiosity filling it as further sounds drifted on the wind. For a brief instant, visible amongst the shadows, the tip of an ebony tail could be seen as it drifted expertly just above the snow's surface. The hidden figure assessed the distant situation silently, ears twitching to register any hints offered to him by his cold surroundings. It was the deliciously familiar sound of a dying animal that formally seized his attention, and set his body in motion. A dark coat flickered along the glistening ivory of the snow covered territory, a dark stain on an otherwise pristine palette. He strode with precise motions, each pawstep calculated, perfect. Every dip was used to his advantage, a spot to place his next pawstep to avoid the loud and rather irritating sound of crunching ice. It was no wonder he found his prey so easily, in the form of two StoneClan toms. Despite the white surroundings, the ebony shadow seemed to materialize from nowhere as he stepped out from behind one of the boulders near the edge of the Sun Stones. The dark wraith appeared behind and to the left of the two toms, giving him ample opportunity to assess the situation further. A morbid kind of excitement flickered behind yellow orbs as he observed the rabbit hanging from one tom's jaws. If he was not mistaken, and he was rarely mistaken, these two StoneClanners were well within LightningClan's border just now. After all, the Sun Stones were behind these two lovely trespassers. The ebony tom's tail curled in mild amusement, taking in the final detail of the scene before him. Although he could not quite surmise why his son, Sparkpaw, was so far from camp by himself, he also felt no need scold the young tom in that instant. Instead, he waited. Watching. Among the drifting crystals of ice falling from the sky, the LightningClan demon stood still, one paw hovering over a shelf of ice. For now, his presence was unneeded. But should this situation prove to be more interesting than initially anticipated, he would not hesitate to make his presence known. And then he would crush the trespassing fools beneath his paws.

SPARKPAW

APPRENTICE | LIGHTNINGCLAN | 15 MOONS

Sparkpaw was outnumbered, though he didn't flinch away from their presence.

"That is LightningClan prey." The ginger and white tom felt fury bubble up inside, his hiss foreboding. Sparkpaw stepped forward, eyes shifting from the StoneClan warriors to the rabbit dangling in the light colored tom's jaws. It was scrawny, though Sparkpaw's mouth still watered uncontrollably. They were all leafbare thin, though LightningClan had justice on their side. Or so Sparkpaw thought.

"He caught it, so its his." The brown tabby growled. Sparkpaw's hackles raised.

"It is on LightningClan territory, so it is LightningClan prey."

"I'm on LightningClan territory, am I a LightningClan cat?"

"If you were, I wouldn't rip you to pieces would I?" Sparkpaw growled under his breath, enmity turning his golden gaze fiery and dangerous. There was no amount of arguing that could turn either of their perspectives. He couldn't leave the thieves and let them walk away. He wouldn't. He couldn't detain them both, but he could try to convince them, and if it came down to it, he wouldn't shy away from a fight.

"I will be taking you both to Firestar so you can explain to her why you've not only trespassed, but stolen as well." Sparkpaw's voice rang out assertively. He smoothed his fur in an attempt to act uncharacteristically diplomatic. He held his tongue, for all the things that he would say would instigate a fight: a fight where the odds would not be in his favor this time. The brown tabby tom made nervous, brief eye-contact with the other StoneClanner before turning back to Sparkpaw.

The ginger and white tom noticed the warrior's eyes glaze over with violence, and the light colored tom dropped the rabbit.

"Oh, will you?" The brown tabby smirked. "I do believe you're...outnumbered."

Sparkpaw's fur spiked as the two warriors closed in on him. They were much taller than he had anticipated. His heart pounded in the heat of the moment, his mind having no time to wallow in doubts and regret.

Sparkpaw snarled as the two StoneClanners pounced on him, feeling teeth and claws tear at his skin. It felt like he was being ripped apart by a flock of eagles, though he endured the burning wounds, body rushing with murderous adrenaline. I'll kill you! He thought in a blind rage as he was crushed into the ice. Sparkpaw felt claws rake down his back and belly one moment, though a heartbeat later, all he felt was the cold, damp snow.

The ginger and white tom wrenched himself to his paws, eyes narrowing on the brown tabby, dense with hatred. Sparkpaw launched himself at the tom and brought him to the ground, ripping at his pelt like a rabid beast. The brown tabby tom slipped frantically out of his grip, backing away from the bloodied apprentice. Sparkpaw stood with his back towards the tumble of black and white fur that Dustclaw was so anxiously trying to get to.

"Mothflight!" The tabby yowled.

"Leave." Sparkpaw hissed as he lurched forward with his hackles raised. "That one will answer for his crimes."

Dustclaw gave one look at Sparkpaw before speeding off into StoneClan territory.
