Finchcloud
So many times it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
You trade your passion for glory
It was a pleasant day, by leaf-fall standards, and Finchcloud intended to make the most of it. Calling Yewpaw from the apprentices' den after the sun had had a bit to warm the forest, he directed her to take a small meal to give her strength, but not to stuff herself to prevent from being weighed down and getting sleepy.
When she'd finished that, the ginger tom beckoned her out, a couple Clanmates trailing behind as additional guards against Demon or any foxes that might have returned. Traces of them, though, had faded until even the sharpest nose could no longer detect their odor. Only Demon remained as a threat, and he was bad enough.
Reaching the thicket where TreeClan did the majority of their battle practice, Finchcloud padded to the center and turned to Yewpaw. "We'll be sparring," he told her. "I've shown you moves, now you'll learn to use them on a heartbeat's notice. In battle, there's no time to really think; you see and react in a split second. This will help condition you to pick the right course of action in the heat of a fight. Claws sheathed," he warned, "But don't worry if you forget. Just try not to get carried away, okay?"
Now then. Backing away, Finchcloud nodded to the apprentice. "Your pelt isn't as thick as my own, but if you bush it out, it can still serve as a buffer against claws and teeth. Keep that in mind. Ready?" He was lunging before she'd had a chance to reply, a strong leap covering the distance between them as his left front paw flashed out, intending to smack it against Yewpaw's head, unless she ducked out of the way. He was eager to see how she handled herself- if she did as well here as she had in hunting, he was going to have quite the boast later.

Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must FIGHT just to keep them ALIVE
