"Falconstorm? The warriors are waiting for you, its time to go." He heard Honeysong's voice from the entrance of the medicine den drew his attention out of his dark thoughts. Falconstorm knew it was time for the greenleaf meeting of the medicine cats, and he also knew that he was in no state to go. He needed to get his head on straight, and going now, in this state where the world tended to lose focus as he fell victim to better memories, was not a state he wanted the others to see him in. He sighed and went to the entrance, butting his head against the lilac she-cat's in greeting. "I'm not going. Tell the warriors to go back to their duties." The look she gave him was a mixture of surprise and confusion, and he knew he had to give her more than that to go on. He already knew the others would wonder what had happened, though only as far as to mention it to one another. After all, too many of them had been lost over the recent moons, and though he was young it wasn't outside the realm of possibility for Falconstorm himself to be lost before he ever trained an apprentice. The tom finally stepped out of his den, sitting down quietly in front of the warriors. "I appreciate you taking the time from your day to volunteer to escort me to Moon Tree. I'm sorry to have wasted that time, but I'm not going this time. Please, go back to what you were doing." He got the same look from them that he got from Honeysong, but they nodded and went on. He didn't owe anyone any sort of explanation. It was his choice not to go, nobody got to tell him it wasn't okay. Plus anyone that mattered knew he was in a bad place mentally and emotionally. Taking the chance to really get back in the proper mindset of a healer before facing his peers was the best thing for him. For now, at least, the matter was sorted. Notes : Falconstorm isn't going to the meeting this time. Tags : @poptart, Fawn, Silver, BlooRey DVD @zen Hellion williams

curiosity is not a sin... ...but we should exercise caution with our curiosity Shadowchaser The heat was unrelenting. Even leaving at dusk couldn't protect Shadowchaser from feeling the effects of sunhigh, lingering long after it had sunk behind the trees. There were shadows to walk through and streams to cross, but he was not looking forward to the wide, sparsely-covered stretch of territory between them and the moon tree. Again, he had to marvel at the resiliency of StoneClan's cats.
They stopped to drink in RainClan's territory, and thankfully did not run into an evening patrol. Nothing sour would have come of it, but Shadowchaser wanted their progress hindered as little as possible.
"We're the first ones here. Surprising." Shadowchaser looked high up, tilting his head back so he could glimpse the stars shimmering above them, winking brightly over the alley. "Do you think anyone would mind if we waited for them inside?" Shadowchaser glanced apologetically to Hollystorm and his mother, Echobreeze.
Their escorts would not be able to follow them into the Moon Tree's cavern.
"We'll be fine," said Hollystorm. "A little heat won't bother us."
Shadowchaser nodded gratefully, stepping forward to gently brush his cheek against his mother's. She was getting older, but that didn't mean she was getting weaker. He hoped that by bringing her along, he should show her a little of his role within the Clan. It was more than just wound-patching and herb-collecting. There was a spiritual aspect to it that few cats got to understand first hand, let alone experience.
"Hopefully it won't take long." Unless there are new apprentices being sworn in. Or, in Dewpaw's case, new fully fledged medicine cats. Shadowchaser purred at the thought, wondering if they'd see a couple of starry-eyed apprentices trailing after Kindleflare and Falconstorm this time.
Shadowchaser turned to his mentor, respectfully waiting for her say on where they should wait. medicine cat of nightclan @poptart | jk rowling | background image | table by phoenixAfter Smokefur: Silver BlooRey DVD @zen Hellion williams

Travelling to the moon tree was not by any means a fun activity under the best of conditions, thus the limp plaguing Smokefur made for a less than desirable journey. Nightclans' additions to the medicine cat meeting were on a slower pace than usual, however the silver and black medicine cat was determined to keep the loss of time to a minimum in spite of her lack of enthusiasm for the gathering as a whole. It was a boring affair where she was subjected to cats she hated, most of whom were no longer with them thank starclan, and the rest she felt no sincere connection to. It was if the age gap was insurmountable and the turn over of medicine cats was high enough to prevent her from making any lasting relationships with the other clans. It didn't help that even after her sisters untimely demise their relation by blood had tainted her for the other clans. Shadowchaser still had a chance though, and she would afford him as much time as possible to build those life long relationships with his peers. It was apparent that Smokefur had pushed herself as even with her injury they arrived first, and upon Shadowchasers request she gave a quick nod of approval.

Medicine Cat of StoneClan Sandblaze There's a spark inside us, That we can all ignite Time again for another meeting with the other Medicine Cats, and Sandblaze felt he had finally become well settled in his role. Dawnblossom was again staying behind to tend to some of the more critically injured under their care but he was more than used to travelling alone by this point. So he took a few Warriors with him and headed out. The trip was an uneventful one and soon he arrived at the Moon Tree. Taking a deep breath for strength, he headed into the area and quickly took note that Falconstorm had not arrived with the others. That was...odd. He wondered if something was wrong with the older tom, but he supposed he would have to find out another time.
He noted that Shadowchaser had already arrived along with Smokefur and he extended a warm greeting to both before looking out around the clearing and not spotting Dewpaw or Swanfeather. That was fine, because it seemed Kindleflare hadn't arrived either so at least that meant he wasn't late. Still, something was lingering in the back of his mind and he had to push it away to focus. One way or another, if something serious needed to be known then StarClan would show him. He had faith in that if nothing else. So why was he so anxious?
And all that's dark inside us, Will flicker into light

Can you hear my heartbeat? Tired of feeling never enough...
Tonight was the night. Tonight he would meet StarClan for the first, and maybe the last, time. And besides StarClan, there would be all the other medicine cats. Tigerpaw did his best to keep from sinking into those thoughts too far, but it was difficult. He was so nervous. He loved being Kindleflare's apprentice, he loved that he would get to spend the rest of his life helping cats and he would never, ever have to fight or hurt anyone. The short time he'd spent as Kindleflare's apprentice thus far had only solidified his desire to be a medicine cat, made him more confident in his choice with each day that passed.
But tonight he was meeting StarClan. What if they didn't like him? What if they didn't want him? What if they thought a coward like him shouldn't be a medicine cat, or a warrior, or even a Clan cat at all? What if they didn't talk to him? What if they did and they told him to leave and never come back? So much for not sinking.
There were strengthening herbs to take for the journey, to keep their energy up and their hunger at bay so they could make good time, since he knew the Moon Tree was far away, and Kindleflare would be explaining each one to him like she always did when she gave herbs to some cat, but Tigerpaw just couldn't focus on her words. He was usually so attentive, so eager to learn, but the fear that this might be the last lesson Kindleflare ever taught him was growing on him. His ears pressed flat to his head and he shut his eyes tightly, shaking his head as if he could shake out the bad thoughts.
He lurched forward and pressed his nose into his mentor's ginger fur, an anxious quiver running through him, and it all came tumbling out, “What if they don't like me, Kindleflare? What if StarClan says I can't be a medicine cat? I don't want to stop being your apprentice.” But how could he argue with StarClan? How could anyone? Even a medicine cat, especially a medicine cat, couldn't disobey StarClan, could they? And even if Kindleflare wanted to keep him as her apprentice, if StarClan said no, then they wouldn't talk to him or send him signs, and that was part of being a medicine cat too. If he couldn't do his job right, his Clan would suffer. He wouldn't have a choice. And he'd have to tell Russetfall and Firestar and Lynxpaw that StarClan had rejected him.
He looked up at her pleadingly, “Do we have to go?” If they didn't go, StarClan couldn't say no, could they?
I close my eyes and tell myself that my dreams will come true. OOC: Not dragging this out, don't worry, just wanted to get a bit of nervous Tiger in before they got to the Moon Tree (and give Kindle a chance to respond). Herbs in her jaws, the ginger and white medicine cat blinked, obviously astonished, at her apprentice's sudden questions. He'd been so enthusiastic about his training and the herbs involved since becoming her apprentice that Kindleflare had never once stopped to think StarClan's opinion, of all things, might bother him. Her deep amber eyes softened as she moved, laying the traveling herbs before her. She had planned to explain the particular herbs to him as she divided the piles, but... There would be plenty of opportunities to discuss these herbs. She had more important matters to settle just then.
With meticulous paw movements, LightningClan's healer divided the bundle into four appropriately sized servings, ensuring all was in order for both she and Tigerpaw, as well as their two escorts waiting just outside. "Y-Yes, Tigerp-paw, we have to g-go. Th-This way you c-can become officially r-recognized as m-my apprentice, not only i-in the eyes of StarClan, b-but in the e-eyes of the other C-Clans too." Reaching over to gently nudge his ear with her nose, she smiled warmly. "N-No one w-will make you s-stop being my a-apprentice, Tigerpaw. N-Not unt-til r-rabbits can f-fly."
Swishing her tail around to nudge him closer to her side, she headbutted his shoulder gently. "I h-have faith i-in you, T-Tigerpaw. There's n-no one e-else I can i-imagine as m-my apprentice. Plus, S-StarClan has been t-telling me I should a-appoint an apprentice for m-moons. I'm s-sure they will be th-thrilled to s-see you. A-And I'll f-finally get to sh-share the experience o-of the M-Moon Tree with s-someone. It's t-truly the m-most beautiful th-thing, Tigerpaw. You h-have nothing to worry a-about. I'll b-be w-with you e-every step of the j-journey. Now c-come, e-eat these." She urged him gently, shifting one of the four piles toward him.
After stooping a moment to lap up her own share of the traveling herbs, the ginger and white medicine cat stood to peek her head out of the entrance. "L-Lakefur, T-Tallstrike, y-you may enter." She stammered warmly, backing out of their way as they approached. The two escorts wordlessly consumed their share, before Tallstrike glanced towards them. "Are you prepared to depart?" He rumbled, to which Kindleflare nodded softly. "Y-Yes." She reaffirmed, and the blue-grey-tom dipped his head before backing out. Lakefur wasn't far behind, the cinder-colored she-cat taking up her place at Tallstrike's side as they headed towards the camp entrance.
With a sweep of her tail, she guided Tigerpaw, falling into step with him just behind the escorting cats. She would take the lead as they left Clan territory, but for now, she remained with Tigerpaw. The journey remained mostly uneventful, and surprisingly quick. It seemed the walk really did seem shorter with company. She'd always had escorts, but none that she spoke so much too. She'd done her best to answer and questions, or calm any doubts the young tom might have had. She only hoped her words had helped him, for he had certainly helped her focus on something other than her parents for the time being.
As they approached the Moon Tree, Kindleflare couldn't make out any of the medicine cats, though she could spot the escorts seated nearby. "E-Everyone must be w-waiting inside. Th-Thank you, Tallstrike, Lakefur. W-We'll return shortly." The pair nodded, and Kindleflare smiled to Tigerpaw, motioning with her nose. "C-Come, th-this way." Ducking into the cooler cavern, the ginger and white she-cat blinked a few times as her eyes adjusted. It didn't take long for her to spot those who had arrived before them. With a surprisingly chipper bounce to her step, and bright smile on her features, she approached the familiar faces.
As she took a seat next to Sandblaze, she swept the spot next to her with her tail, inviting Tigerpaw to sit with her. "G-Good to see you all a-again." She purred, before shifting to catch Tigerpaw's gaze. Using her tail to motion toward each, she introduced those present. "S-Sandblaze i-is one of S-StoneClan's medicine c-cats. He t-trained under Dawnb-blossom, wh-who isn't h-here. Sh-Shadowchaser a-and Smokefur a-are NightClan's m-medicine cats. T-TreeClan's F-Falconstorm i-isn't here yet, but he's e-easy to spot; he's pretty b-big. A-And that l-leaves RainClan's medicine c-cat Swanfeather, and her a-apprentice D-Dewpaw. Th-They should arrive sh-shortly." With a comforting nudge to his shoulder, she flicked her deep amber gaze back to the other medicine cats.
"E-Everyone, i-it's my p-pleasure to introduce m-my apprentice, T-Tigerpaw." |

[smear:ffffff]Swanfeather[/smear:343B4F] I dreamed a dream in time gone by When hope was high And life worth living 87 Moons || Medicine Cat of RainClan || She-Cat Pain radiated in the aged she-cats joint and having left earlier then usual hadn't helped their pace. Her body ached and forced the small group to match her pace. While her pride wouldn't allow her to say it out loud, Swanfeather felt herself a burden to Dewpaw and the warriors protecting them. They had to take their time when in all truth they could have been able to run ahead with Dewpaw and be there first.
Sighing to herself, Swanfeather attempted to push past the pain but regretted it the moment she did. Wincing and letting a soft yelp escape her, she turned to read the faces of her Clanmates. No one seemed to notice or if they had their expression hadn't changed.
Turning her attention back to the well-known path to moon tree, Swanfeather wished she had taken the extra dose of the poppy seed. In hindsight, it would have made the trip easier but like before pride kept her from admitting her moons were catching up on her.
Doing her best to pick up her pace the closer they got, their arrival was just after the LightningClan. Suspecting the tom-cat beside Kindleflare was her new apprentice, Swanfeather took up a sitting position near the edge, per usual.
"Good evening," She greeted, offering a pollite nod in greeting to those gathered. "I didn't scent TreeClan anywhere nearby, I think it is safe to say he is not coming. Perhaps we should carry on with our meeting and ceremonies." Her voice carried well, as her icy blue eyes settled in the young tom before shifting to Kindleflare.

dewpaw,
If Dewpaw noticed the pace the cats took, she was not paying attention. Her paws led without her mind following, eyes unfocused as she thought of Crowblaze. It was the first quiet walk for the pair and if their warrior guides understood what she was thinking, they might've added some conversation to pull the medicine cat apprentice out of her thoughts. Did I just not make it in time, or did I take too long to gather herbs? When had he died? Was it before we even got there? Was it when the fox fought him in the river? Dewpaw frowned. She glanced up at her mentor, frown still in place. She wouldn't want me to dwell, but... we lost so many cats this moon. Am I still fit for this role if we've lost so many? Swanfeather doesn't have time to train another, she's got only me. I need to do better.
Swanfeather's voice broke her thoughts, telling their guides to go rest. She startled, blinking as if she noticed her surroundings for the first time. Her eyes tracked up the tree as they reached the other medicine cats, breathing in and out slowly, letting its presence calm her soul. It always soothed her to be here, and she hoped tonight's visit would do the same for her aching heart. Wait, did she say ceremony?" A smile appeared, finally spotting the shy cat next to Kindleflare. Dewpaw gave him a nod in greeting, wanting to save her voice for Frostfang.

curiosity is not a sin... ...but we should exercise caution with our curiosity Shadowchaser Greetings were exchanged, as well as mild questions about the welfares of their respective Clans. A young, painfully shy looking tom was introduced by Kindleflare as her newest apprentice; Shadowchaser purred his congratulations. Seeking to set aside his Clan's reputation lest it frighten the little tom even further, he wore his best smile, meowing a friendly word or two. "Welcome, Tigerpaw. It's nerve wracking, isn't it? Your first meeting with StarClan. But don't worry, just remember you're among friends - both in and out of our dreams."
StarClan would be eager to meet Tigerpaw. He wondered, softly, if the kit had any deceased family members he would be meeting with.
Shadowchaser gazed at his companions, feeling a strong sense of kinship the rest of the Clan couldn't quite give him. He valued his mother, sisters and his friends immensely; but the sense of shared experiences, of unity with the other medicine cats was something he wouldn't trade for the world.
Swanfeather was brusque as always, pointing out that Falconstorm was likely not to arrive. Shadowchaer glanced again to Smokefur. "Should we check on him later?" He murmured. This wasn't the first time Falconstorm had missed a medicine cat meeting, was it?
Something else caught Shadowchaser's eye, however, and that was Dewpaw. Normally one of their more energetic healers, there was something brooding, something distracted, in the she-cat's eyes. He recognized it at once. Questions. Particularly what-ifs. Smokefur pushed her way through a large break in the stone, as she had so many times before, and lowered herself into the cavern with Shadowchaser following closely behind. Soon they were greeted by the moontree and its' brilliant white bark, Smokefur took a moment to get comfortable as they waited for their peers to arrive. Sandblaze was the first to arrive, however Dawnblossom was nowhere to be seen. Kindleflare came soon after followed by a young tom that immediately piqued Smokefurs' interest who wondering if she had been bullied into taking an apprentice. Smokefur nodded politely as she was introduced by Kindelfare and began study the tom who was introduced as Tigerpaw. The final cat to arrive were Swanfeather and her apprentice Dewpaw, the former quickly suggesting that Falconstorm wasn't going to be present tonight. Smokefur turned her attention towards Shadowchaser as he asked about visiting Falconstorm to see if everything was alright. "I'm sure Lionstar would love a couple of Nightclan cats wandering his territory." Smokefur whispered in reply.

So it seemed as if all the Medicine Cats that were going to arrive had arrived. There was a bit of chatter going on and he listened intently and tried to decide how important things were. Falconstorm wasn't here, Dewpaw was clearly stressed, Kindleflare had taken an apprentice, and it seemed there was a sense of tension in the air. For the most part, he was going to stay out of it, but Sandblaze had the feeling there was a lot going on and StarClan was going to have plenty to say to the lot of them once they moved forward into the next part of this meeting. He shook himself and settled, green eyes calm and considering as he took in the goings on around him and filed it away to think on later. Much had been happening within StoneClan as well with the fox attacks and the fire and the tensions within the clan seemed fit to burst at any time. He himself had been privy to this, much to his frustration, but he supposed it was the right of the clan to be protective of their medicine cats, still it did much to agitate him being so thusly confined. He pushed the thoughts aside because they couldn't be important just now. He'd worry about himself later. -- Tags | BlooRey DVD @zen Hellion williams @poptart Fawn

Throughout the introductions, Kindleflare became very aware of the way Tigerpaw clung to her side. She could feel his weight against her, almost as though the young tom were trying to disappear into her fur. Bending slightly to give him a reassuring push of her nose on the top of his head, she followed Shadowchaser's voice as the young medicine cat greeted Tigerpaw warmly. The soft purr rumbling in her chest was evidence enough that she adored the young NightClan medicine cat. He'd been nothing but respectful since she first met him. The purr didn't last long, however, for Swanfeather's voice cut in next.
The aging RainClan medicine cat suggested they proceed with ceremonies and dreaming. Although the LightningClan medicine cat was saddened that the opportunity to meet with and interact with other medicine cats was being cut short, the timid ginger and white healer didn't object, simply nodding and nosing Tigerpaw gently. "J-Just keep you e-eyes on me, T-Tigerpaw. I'm r-right here." She whispered comfortingly to him, before stepping away slightly so she could look down at him. Using her tail to guide his chin up and his eyes to hers, Kindleflare smiled warmly down at her apprentice, straightening her shoulders slightly.
"T-Tigerpaw." She started, doing her best to keep her voice as clear and as steady as she could. "Is it y-your wish to enter the m-mysteries of S-StarClan as a medicine c-cat?" She asked, recalling the words Rookfrost had once spoken to her. Pausing to allow Tigerpaw to answer her, she held his gaze with her own encouraging one, smiling at him as he spoke the two words she needed to hear. "A-Ancestor of StarClan, I present y-you with this apprentice. T-Tigerpaw has chosen the p-path of a medicine c-cat. Grant him your w-wisdom and insight s-so he may u-understand your ways, and h-heal his Clan i-in accordance with your w-will."
Closing the distance between them once more, Kindleflare pressed her nose to Tigerpaw's ear, a purr still present in her chest. "Y-You will m-meet them, and th-they will w-welcome you. I j-just know it." She told him proudly. As she pulled away once more, she guided him with her tail, following the other medicine cats as they moved toward the Moon Tree. Though the others moved to press their noses to it, Kindleflare waited for Tigerpaw to do so first, giving him an encouraging nod as the others drifted to sleep around them. |

Can you hear my heartbeat? Tired of feeling never enough...
Kindleflare's reassurances helped. If StarClan wanted her to take an apprentice, had wanted to her to take one for some time, maybe it would be okay? Maybe they would even be excited? He didn't know how StarClan worked at all. Which was part of the reason he was so nervous about meeting them. But Kindleflare did know... so if she thought it would be okay, there was no reason he shouldn't believe her. Doing his best to push his fears away and let Kindleflare's confidence that everything would be all right keep them at bay, he obediently lapped up the herbs she had indicated and stuck close to her side as she allowed their escort to lead the way out of camp.
The journey was at the same time longer and shorter than Tigerpaw had expected. He'd never traveled so far, but he did his best not to slow everyone down, and finally they reached their destination. He was briefly confused, for some reason he had imagined arriving to the Moon Tree shining to greet them, even though he knew it was hidden away in a cavern. He froze for a moment as Kindleflare indicated where they would be going, leaving their warrior escort behind, and swallowed hard. It would be all right, Kindleflare said so.
He hurried after his mentor, clinging to her side like a burr, and quickly sat down beside her as they joined the other medicine cats that had already arrived. She introduced the others to him and he made note of their names and Clans. Sandblaze, StoneClan. He almost asked why Dawnblossom wasn't there, but she was already moving on. His pelt bristled and he leaned into Kindleflare's side as she introduced the NightClan cats, Shadowchaser and Smokefur. Since the others weren't there yet, he kept his wide gaze on the two NightClanners as Kindleflare told him the names of those yet to arrive.
Tigerpaw squeaked as Shadowchaser addressed him, and immediately felt his ears burn with embarrassment as it echoed in the cavern. Especially since the tom was clearly doing his best to be friendly. He wished Kindleflare had long fur so he could just disappear into it. He nodded stiffly, his gaze dropping to his paws, “Th-thank you....”
Swanfeather arrived then, drawing his gaze back up, apparently ready to get straight to business, and the younger she-cat beside her gave him a nod of greeting. He returned it shyly, and then Kindleflare was stepping away from him and he did his best to focus on her, and not the fact that all these strange cats were staring at him now. She asked him the question the ceremony demanded and his voice was a higher pitched than he'd like when he managed to answer, “It is.” As Kindleflare asked StarClan to grant him wisdom and insight, he couldn't help but hope they might grant him a little more courage while they were at it. And then she was nudging him toward the Moon Tree.
Stiff legged, he picked a spot to lie down among the shimmering roots, glancing at Kindleflare to make sure he was doing it right, and rested his head on his paws as he pushed his nose to the cold bark. He waited a moment, waiting, but nothing seemed to happen. Panic rising, he opened his eyes, sure StarClan had rejected him, that they were refusing to talk to him, only to find himself no longer curled among the roots of the Moon Tree at all. He leaped to his paws, fur bristling with alarm, until a familiar scent wreathed around him. He'd dreamed of this scent before... it was like Firestar and Russetfall, but also different. And he remembered it from his apprentice ceremony too.
He turned to see a red she-cat that had the look of Russetfall to her, stars shining in her fur as she smiled at him, “It's so wonderful to finally meet you, Tigerpaw. I'm Mapleheart. I've been walking with you for a while, perhaps you've noticed.” Her whiskers twitched with amusement at his wide eyed gaze.
“Mapleheart? Firebird told me about you. You're... you're my sister, aren't you?” he recalled the sad tale the elder had told him of Mapleheart's unfortunate death at the Sun Stones before he'd been born.
She stepped forward and touched her nose to his ear, “I am.”
“Your scent....”
She purred, “You have noticed.” Her voice gentled, “StarClan walks with you, Tigerpaw. You have no need to fear so much.”
He ducked his head, “S-sorry....”
She rasped her tongue between his ears, and when he looked back up at her she pressed her nose gently to his. Within the span of a heartbeat, he saw something reflected in her eyes, vicious looking fangs from a pointed muzzle that tore a bloody gash in the full moon, and screeches of both terror and pain echoed in his ears seemingly from no where. He jerked back from her, eyes wide in alarm, trembling, “Wh-what...?”
Her gaze softened and she pressed close to his side, wrapping her tail comfortingly around him, “I'm sorry for frightening you, Tigerpaw... but you will need to get used to these warnings if you plan to follow this path. StarClan believes in you. I believe in you. Believe in yourself, little brother.”

[smear:ffffff]Swanfeather[/smear:343B4F] I dreamed a dream in time gone by When hope was high And life worth living 87 Moons || Medicine Cat of RainClan || She-Cat
Content with remaining a figure in the background, Swanfeather watched with her blue eyes settled on who was speaking. Her attention shifted from Shadowchaser to Smokefur before finally settling on Kindleflare again.
Out of habit, Swanfeather mouthed along the words of the ceremony to herself. She had said those words nearly 4 times and only once had she welcomed a new fully trained medicine cat into RainClan. Glancing to Dewpaw she hoped that she would be ready when the time came. She prayed silently to StarClan to allow her this apprentice.
Once the ceremony for Tigerpaw was finished, Swanfeather touched her tail to Dewpaw's shoulder and headed for the Moon Tree roots. Curling up away from the others, Swanfeathe expected to have a restful sleep void of any dreams.
She was wrong.
Waking up to the roar of the river beside her, Swanfather pushed herself up to shaky legs. The river had signaled the divide between her and StarClan. Sorrow filled her chest she called out for anyone to answer. Cried for Frostfang to appear but her voice was drowned out by the roar of the river. Her grief from being cut off from StarClan had finally turned to anger. Yowling in frustration her old claws dug into the ground on her side of the river.
Then a flash of dark fur caught her attention. Looking up and across the river, she noticed a shape. It made her think of Razortar then it quickly changed to Timberwing? Confused Swanfeather attempted to blink her eyes to clear away anything that was obstructing her view but nothing changed. The shifting shape ahead of her kept moving back and forth, shifting form each time. Calling out again her voice drowned out again. No answer came. She was stuck watching a figure like Razorstar or perhaps Timberwing move back and forth almost as if it was blocking her from making any attempts to cross the river.
Angered further Swanfeather decided it was worth the risk. Stepping into the river she attempted to swim across but before she could get halfway a rush of water swept her away. Pulling her down and under, stealing away all the air from her lungs.
Waking up coughing in her nest, Swanfeather's eyes fluttered a few times. She could still feel the water on her fur and the sensation of slipping under. Searching the nearby nests she found she had been the first to wake. Curling up once more she waited for Dewpaw to wake, the confusing message still playing in her mind.

Dewpaw felt herself focus into the ceremony for Tigerpaw but with an energy she couldn't draw from. The words became garbled in her mind and she blinked desperately to capture the entire thing. This was a big day for the young tom-cat, she wanted to respect that as the older cats had for hers. Her blue eyes turned up to the bulk of the tree, sending a prayer for Tigerpaw as Kindleflare finished her words. Protect his spirit, she asked. share with him what you know, but keep him kind.As Swanfeather's touch, Dewpaw gave her mentor a small half-hearted smile in return and headed with the pack to press her nose against the tree. She hestiated before contacting with the bark, worry flaring in her throat at what was going to happen. There's no going back, she told herself, pushing her nose firmly against the tree. I feel lost and need both my mentors to help me. Her limbs grew heavy, and the she-cat felt her eyelids close on their own as she was transported to the familiar banks of Starclan's river. The young medicine cat opened her eyes, the swirling mists were contained within the walls of the river for once, barely ghosting across her brown toes. She took a step forward, entranced with the way the small rivlets beaded against her fur as she moved. It was such a simple sight, but it brushed against her spirit and succeeded at smoothing out the edges that rubbed against her heart. Then her eyes glanced around, looking for her familiar guide. He was nowhere to be found, the forest's edges gaining and losing color as her gaze moved across it. Surely a white cat would stand out despite the shifts. A shape flitted past her. What was that? Dewpaw thought to herself, mouth open to call out to it. It shifted past her again, quicker than she could follow, before it slammed into her head on. She yowled in panic as the shape pushed her to the river's bank, soft soil breaking beneath her paws. As her sight filled with water, the form grew rusty orange fur, sharp teeth the size of her ears, a cruel bushy tail that flared out behind. It cackled, driving its paws into her chest again and again to keep her underneath. Water filled her lungs as Dewpaw lashed back, though she couldn't tell if any strikes connected. Before her sight failed entirely, the fox molted into two, then four, then a fifth, all with the same split grin that dripped rusted red into the waters she sank in. A voice shouted at her, words lost in the currents. Dewpaw shot up with a start, immediately getting to her paws to be at her mentor's side. She hit Swanfeather's side a bit harder than expected, gasping as her lungs filled with air that felt denied. An apology managed to get its way out before Dewpaw buried her head in her mentor's shoulder. -- she upset @poptart Fawn Silver BlooRey DVD @zen Hellion
