[smear:ffffff]Swanfeather[/smear:343B4F] I dreamed a dream in time gone by When hope was high And life worth living 84 Moons || Medicine Cat of RainClan || She-Cat "Rainblossom and Jaycry grab something to eat before we leave," Her meow was raspy but stern, flicking her tail to the chosen escorts. They departed from the den entrance, giving the aging she-cat the time to focus on Dewpaw. She had instructed her young apprentice to take a nap prior to the trip. Swanfeather hadn't rested considering she spent most of her day in the den. Aching joints made it difficult for her to travel and she wanted to converse her strength, sorting herbs in the den gave her that grace.
"Dewpaw, time to get up we need to leave. I don't want to be the last ones there," She added this time using a forepaw to nudge her apprentice awake. She considered it a routine now. Dewpaw knew what was expected of her and once the she-cat stirred, Swanfeather let her prepare for the journey.
Exiting the den without a word her greying paws were directed toward Rainblossom and Jaycry, the two of them sharing a trout. Her stomach rumbled at the thought of a mouthful of fresh food, but considering the rules against eating prior to visiting Moon Tree, Swanfeather looked away.
Thankfully they didn't have to wait long before leaving the camp, Swanfeather taking the lead and taking the party along the well-used path toward Moon Tree. Expecting her apprentice to spout off various questions, Swanfeather elected to walk as fast as her old bones could manage. She wasn't ignoring Dewpaw. In fact, she was attempting to make it to the meeting place in a hurry to allow Dewpaw more time to ask questions of those from other Clans. While the black-pointed she-cat wasn't eager to speak to anyone not apart of RainClan, she did encourage Dewpaw to make her own connections. It was clear that Dewpaw was better suited for the changing times. Swanfeather knew herself to be too set in her ways. A flaw she sorrowfully admitted to herself recently.
Allowing her thoughts to fuel her forward, Swanfeather gave a sigh as the opening to the Moon Tree came into view. Silently dismissing Jaycry and Rainblossom with a flick of her tail, Swanfeather made her way closer to the entrance. Pleased that they were first. dewpaw, With a nudge, Dewpaw woke and immediately scrambled to her paws with excitement filling her chest. Her favorite part of the moon cycle was going to the Moon Tree. As Dewpaw walked out of the den, she smoothed down as much fur as she could, shaking out what bits of moss that clung stubbornly to her sides. When their party was gathered, Swanfeather led the group out.
Their walk was a typical journey, and the medicine cat apprentice felt light as a cloud on their walk. She kept pace with her mentor, respecting the speed Swanfeather could take. While they walked, she asked the warriors about their training, their daily routines, about the forests and waters of Rainclan's land. The first few questions had been for her mentor, as usual, but she knew she could get more for herself and for Rainclan if she saved the majority of her medicine questions for the other medicine cats. Swanfeather said there was something to learn from the others, and she intended to make use of their time together to do so. But the journey was long, and there was only so much silence Dewpaw could stand before she had to fill the air with something. The warriors answered her questions patiently, though soon their replies petered out and the group traveled in quiet for the last leg.
"We're first!" Dewpaw gasped with a kit-like surprise, moving past her mentor to peer up the length of the tree with wide blue eyes. The instant she saw the stars peer through the gaps of leaves, she felt her form shrink. She was a small kit in the eyes of Starclan, especially here beneath the tree. How could one ever feel large when the sky had such a commanding view of the clans? "Isn't it beautiful?"

He didn't want to go to the meeting. He didn't want to do much of anything, but he knew that he had to push through this. He had a duty to his clan, and that included attending the meetings with the other medicine cats. So, though his paws were heavy and he felt disinclined to be scolded by StarClan again he traveled onward. He didn't even pick escorts, more like Honeysong asked two warriors to go for him. He still wasn't up to talking to the clan, and the few that had been injured were dealt with in a silent, professional manner. The trip itself went by in a blur, and the approach of Moon Tree itself didn't awe him the way it had on previous trips. He noted that RainClan had already arrived, and dredged up the will to be cordial to them. There was no reason for him to make them wonder on him. There had been too many changes in their ranks recently, no need to have anyone believe TreeClan was in for a new medicine cat again as well. No, he would attend his duties, he just had to let some time get between he and his broken heart. "Swanfeather, Dewpaw, I hope you've been well?" @poptart FawnSilverBlooRey DVDHellionwilliams

Herbs were eaten, warriors had been selected, and it was time for Smokefur and Shadowchaser to make their way to the moon tree as they did every half moon. The attitude Smokefur brought to their party could be accurately described as lackadaisical. It wasn't that she didn't take her duty seriously, no that wasn't the case at all, it was more rooted in the mundane nature of the recent meetings. After taking Shadowchaser on as her apprentice the judgemental, and quite frankly fun, messages Smokefur previously received from Starclan had ceased. She missed the melodrama. She was bored. It was apparent that the medicine cat would have to create her own entertainment, and decided to trail behind her peer ever so slightly to achieve her goal. Selecting the most opportune moments Smokefur punctuated the silence with a well timed bat at Shadowchaser's tail before acting as if she had no recollection of doing so. It was a way to pass the time and their journey seemed shorter than usual as a result. After dismissing their escorts Smokefur took note that Rainclan had arrived first. Dipping her head respectfully Smokefur took a seat making sure to leave herself plenty of distance between the Rainclanners and herself.

curiosity is not a sin... ...but we should exercise caution with our curiosity Shadowchaser The journey to the Moon Tree had been mostly uneventful. Mostly, because Smokefur had started up a game where she would bat his tail - and the instant he turned around, she would feign ignorance. Shadowchaser had been baffled at first, not used to seeing such a playful side to his mentor, but after it went on for a few more paces, Shadowchaser began to see it as funny.
Which one of us is the mentor? I can't tell. Shadowchaser's mild amusement stayed with him until they arrived, where the young healer's ears pricked forward to study the familiar shapes coming into view. Swanfeather and Dewpaw of RainClan, along with Falconstorm of TreeClan - looking rather somber, or perhaps it was a trick of the light - and themselves. That left StoneClan and LightningClan to arrive. "Beautiful night, isn't it? I hope prey is running well." Smokefur was content with a few respectful nods, but Shadowchaser enjoyed interaction, preferring to exercise his politeness while strengthening his bonds with the others.
They were not as close as he thought medicine cats were supposed to be. It could have had something to do with the generations at play; he, Dewpaw, and Sandblaze were all fairly young. Dawnblossom, Kindleflare and Swanfeather were much older with Falconstorm caught in the middle. His best chance of forming close friendships would be with Dewpaw and furthering his friendship with Sandblaze. That suited him fine, though Shadowchaser's inquisitive nature planted questions in his mind about the others. medicine cat of nightclan Silver BlooRey DVD Hellion williams Justice @poptart | jk rowling | backgrou

Medicine Cat of StoneClan Sandblaze There's a spark inside us, That we can all ignite He was running late, he knew he was, but for Sandblaze taking care of the cats of his clan was a much more important task before being on time for the meeting of the Medicine Cats. It felt weird to be going alone again without Dawnblossom at his side but he knew the way well by now and the Warriors with him were ones he trusted. Still, his mind was whirling with all that had gone on in the days since he'd last tread this path. His mother had returned after another brush with fire nearly took her away from him - and he still had nightmares about that - and then she'd returned a full season after he'd expected her back. StoneClan was buzzing over her return with Kestrelpaw and he knew some of those words weren't friendly.
His mind was still whirling with everything he was hearing and if things didn't get better soon he'd have to speak with Hawkstar about it. Not that he didn't know his mother could defend herself, but she shouldn't have to in the place that was their home. Forcing himself to focus as he finally reached his destination, he noted that many had already arrived but he also wasn't the last to arrive, that was good. Looking over the other Medicine Cats automatically had him making notes to himself over them. They looked well, but Falconstorm seemed....sad to him. It wasn't his place to ask why, but he'd seen the expression too many times on his mother not to recognize it in another.
Something bad must have happened and he sent up a silent prayer to StarClan that nothing too terrible had happened within TreeClan. Even if his home was with StoneClan, with Sandblaze being loner-born, he didn't understand not caring about others even if they were outside of his clan. He treated them all equally and all life was precious. So he hoped TreeClan was well and that he was reading too much into the older tom's expression. He could just be tired, after all.
Lifting his tail up he issued a quiet greeting to those gathered, as was his way. "I seem to be running a bit later this time, but I'm glad to see I still made it. I hope all of you are well." So why did something still feel off about this time to him?
And all that's dark inside us, Will flicker into light

The trip to the medicine cat meeting that half moon passed in the blink of an eye. With her mind preoccupied by thoughts of her parents, the worried medicine cat didn't even notice they'd arrive until Tallstrike cleared his throat. Starting slightly, the ginger and white medicine cat's dark amber gaze flicked up to see all the other medicine cats standing not far off. "O-Oh!" She stammered, alarm flickering behind her eyes as her pelt heated up. "Th-Thank you, Tallstrike, a-and you, S-Sagefur. W-Wait here, I sh-shouldn't be t-too long." She told them, and both escorts dipped their heads in quiet acceptance.
Flicking her tail nervously, the LightningClan healer picked up her gait and trotted to the gathered group with a shy smile. "S-Sorry t-to be late... H-Hope you haven't w-waited long." She mewed quietly. Instinctively, her eyes went to Falconstorm, for he was by far her closest friend amongst the medicine cats. She hoped to meet his gaze, and offer him a friendly smile, and find comfort in his warm blue eyes. She was rather shocked to see the almost... Broken state of her friend. His head hung low, and though he sat amongst them in body, she could see that his mind was far, far away.
Swallowing an uneasy lump in her throat, the shy healer sneaked in beside him. When still he would not meet her gaze, she glanced toward her paws worriedly. Settling for laying her tail silently over his shoulders in a wordless offer of comfort, LightningClan's healer did not question him then. There were far too many others around, and the last thing she wanted was to place a metaphorical beam of sun upon him by calling him out on such a mood. That, and it was fairly obvious something was wrong. She doubted any of the other medicine cats had missed it.
Glancing toward the others, she smiled kindly and greeted each in turn. Her gaze remained on the RainClan pair, however, and she tipped her head in something akin to amazement. "G-Goodness, D-Dewpaw! Y-You're g-growing s-so quick! I h-hope you're t-training is g-going well?" |

[smear:ffffff]Swanfeather[/smear:343B4F] I dreamed a dream in time gone by When hope was high And life worth living 84 Moons || Medicine Cat of RainClan || She-Cat Sitting with her shoulder back and tail tucked carefully over her front paws, Swanfeather felt the ache in her bones sink deeper. Glancing at Dewpaw a hint longing fluttered in her stomach. She ached to be young again, full of life and able to travel without pain. The ache moved upward, threatening to choke the she-cat with the realization that her time was coming to an end. Soon Dewpaw would travel to Moontree on her own, leaving Swanfeather behind in the medicine cat den or perhaps the elder's den, depending how long her sight maintained.
Called out of her internal struggle by the sound of her name, Swanfeather's attention shifted to Falconstorm. She greeted the tom with practiced politeness and a dip of her head. "We are well, I trust TreeClan is flourishing in Newleaf," She added.
Her politeness faded away as the sour stink of NightClan assaulted her nose. Wrinkling her face slightly, she didn't offer a verbal greeting. She simply nodded, thankful that Smokefur sat away from her and Dewpaw. The further the better.
The new scent travelling on the wind signalled they wouldn't be waiting much longer to move on to the tree. Thankful at Sandblaze and Kindleflare's arrival, Swanfeather rose to her paws. Being the first to arrive she was quick to get the meeting started.
"Let us move on to Moontree," She told the gathered cats, flicking her tail over Dewpaw's shoulder as a signal to follow her.
The closer she got to the tree the tighter her chest felt. This coming night could be one of dreamless sleep and another reminder that StarClan had forsaken her. Uncomfortable with the idea of losing her connection with StarClan for the last moons of her life, Swanfeather refocused to finding herself a place to sleep. Nestled and finding warm with her tail over her face, she drifted into sleep.

The two Rainclan cats didn't have to wait long before the rest of the medicine cats appeared. First came Treeclan, a subdued Falconstorm offering his greetings. She gave him what she hoped was a comforting smile, waving her tail in hello. He didn't seem up for her chattering today, so she'd hold off. Instead, the next two arrivals were closer to her age, and she let her stream of words fill the space as she said hello. "Prey seems to be good for us, my sister is learning how to catch fish and she caught the biggest-she looked like a duck carrying it-it was so big!" The apprentice smiled up at her elders, then fluffed in appreciation at Kindleflare's words. " Thank you! I don't feel big underneath the tree." With that comment, Dewpaw tipped her head back again, staring up into the branches making her dizzy. A nudge at her shoulder brought Dewpaw back to the conversation, Swanfeather leading the group to the tree. Her apprentice following dutifully, sparing a glance or two in her mentor's direction. I'll say hi to Frostfang for her, She decided, touching her nose to her mentor's side with fondness before she touched the tree. -- Her eyes opened to a now familiar rush of white, swirling stars winking at her in a familiar shade of blue, and also green if she squinted. Dewpaw took a few steps forward, nose high in the air. No scent came to her. No matter how hard she tried, nothing stuck out. She felt disappointment well up. Both her and Frostfang knew the connection was shaky, but having it cut off to the river was frustrating. She huffed, then shouted into the rapids. "Frostfang! I hope you're doing okay! I've been learning a lot about herbs and how to take care of them-Swanfeather and I rescued some plants from a couple thorn bushes! She says hi, even if she doesn't say it out loud, I know she feels it." She felt the cold envelop her like the embrace of a mother, before the world melted away. " I'll see you next moon okay? Don't forget!" Dewpaw got out before her eyes blinked open. notes: no table again, just trying to keep muse strong tagged (in posting order): Justice @poptart Fawn Silver BlooRey DVD Hellion
