into that bright world to I go Stealing away from camp, Fogsight trotted through the familiar trees. She didn't go far on the ground though. Her paws itched for some adventure, the same rough lands that the mountains had brought her. But, the warrior didn't want to leave again. The thought of doing so made her heart clench painfully. She liked the trees, their intermingled branches and the smells and sounds they brought to her world. It was noisy on Treeclan's lands, and Fogsight loved it. Paws sure and limbs strong, the small warrior nimbly climbed up the closest tree once she was far enough from camp. The branches were close together, which made the climb easy at first. But she came out to the forest for a challenge, and a challenge she was going to get. Fogsight examined the trees leaving across Treeclan's land, pulling from her memory to time her leaps. She crossed to the first tree, aiming for an easier branch as her muscles warmed up. Soon though, she was making daring leaps, her Treeclan heritage giving her luck to soar across gaps. Birds fluttered and squawked, squirrels dove out of the way. But the she-cat did not stop. Her breath was coming out quicker now, Fogsight could feel the excitement of adventuring fill her bones. Yes! She thought, this is exactly what I needed. Thoughts soaring as high as the hawks did, she did not watch her paws. The first step skidded out, causing her to thump face-ward into the branch. Mouse-dung, she swore silently, using her training to right herself. Then, a crack. The feeling of flight turned into terror, as she plummeted towards the ground. She yowled her panic. Her world went dark. curiosity is not a sin... ...but we should exercise caution with our curiosity Shadowchaser Borderlines shifted. Scent markings changed. But the plants didn't care what side of the valley they were on; they grew where they pleased, free of petty rivalries. Shadowchaser crept through the mist cloaking NightClan's forest. It was a subtle transition in foliage that marked the way to TreeClan's neck of the woods. His coat, deep chestnut that it looked black in most lights, caught some of the sun trying to reach the ground, revealing the warm brown base color underneath. NightClan favored their namesake, and he wouldn't cause an uproar by suggesting they hunt during the daytime—but that didn't mean he didn't appreciate the sunshine. Warmth on his fur was a nice feeling. The season was changing, and he knew he wouldn't have much warmth to speak of in the coming days.
It was also easier to see the plants in daytime. Digging for chervil at night was a harder task than he'd expected; dark roots in dark earth, with only the moonlight to guide him? No thank you.
Shadowchaser shook dirt from his whiskers, carefully extracting the knobby roots from the rest of the plant; he would come back for the leaves later. It was chervil they needed. Almost finished. A crack like thunder, a yowl seconds after, and the noise concluded with a sickening thud. Shadowchaser's head shot up from the earth, and he bounded—tail bristly as a pinecone—into the deer path. Someone was hurt, there was no way in StarClan they could walk away from that without at least a limp. Shadowchaser's enjoyment of the mist was thrown aside now that he had a job to do, and he privately cursed the obscured vision it caused. "Hello?" He called, making his voice stretch through the fog to reach the injured cat just within NightClan's border. "If you can hear me, please answer!"
Dark ears swiveled, twitching for the slightest hint of sound as he placed one paw carefully after the other. This was the deer path. He did not want to be trodden by the territory's namesake; Shadowchaser caught a whiff of TreeClan, stronger than a scent-marking—and close.
There! A petite white and gray-marked she-cat lay on her flank beside a freshly fallen bough, the end still jagged from where it had separated from the whole. Shadowchaser made short work checking for vitals; first he leaned in to make sure she was breathing, and only when the steady breaths tickled the sensitive hair on his right ear did he move on to everything else. There was no blood, and Shadowchaser gently tried to wake her with soft nudges of his paw on her shoulder, but to no avail. What if she's suffered a head injury? It was impossible to tell through how she'd fallen. Detective work was a poor substitute for getting answers directly.
Thinking quickly, Shadowchaser darted back into NightClan's territory to a patch of garlic he'd known about for a while now. Plucking one of the stinking bulbs by the stem, the medicine cat returned to his patient, and stuck it right under her nose. "Sorry, I had to make sure you were alright," he mewed, rueful but still holding back a slight chuckle. What a terrible way to wake up. "Any pain? Do you think you can stand?" Ah, I should've introduced myself. "I am Shadowchaser, medicine cat of NightClan. Sorry we're meeting under unpleasant circumstances." And it's a good thing I found you instead of a patrol. medicine cat of nightclan williams @medusa @poptart | jk rowling | background image | table by phoenix

Smokefur found that she quite enjoyed the nocturnal lifestyle associated with Nightclan, to her the darkened forest was a simply serene place to be. Shadowchaser didn't seem to care for it near as much as Smokefur however, and she had always done her best to accommodate her colleagues wishes when they were reasonable. This in combination with the fact that Shadowchaser had spent many an evening scouring Nightclan for precious herbs with Smokefur left the latter little choice but to accompany her former apprentice into a bright forest lit by the sun. The object of the medicine cats' hunt today was chervil, anything else they found would be an extra bonus as they prepared for the cold moons ahead. The pair split up to search for the Chervil separately and after a short amount of time Smokefur heard the sound of a distressed cat pierce the tranquility of the forest. Wasting little time the seasoned medicine cat moved in the direction of the sound and found Shadowchaser tending to an injured she-cat who had obviously fallen out of a tree. Gracefully approaching Smokefur tapped the toms' shoulder with her tail to let him know she had arrived.

into that bright world to I go The world was dark, a rush of static that throbbed through her system, until- garlic? Fogsight sneezed loudly, arching back to avoid the smell. "Wha-" She started to say, interupted by the cat responsible for the garlic wake-up call. "Sorry, I had to make sure you were alright. Any pain? Do you think you can stand?" A pause. Fogsight struggled to sit up fully, world still swimming. Eyes glanced warily at the tom in front of her, his shape starting to stablizie as she focused fully on him. His voice was familiar, but it's lilt was not the familiar Treeclan she was used to. "I am Shadowchaser, medicine cat of NightClan. Sorry we're meeting under unpleasant circumstances." Ah, so that's where she recognized him from. It had been a while since she had seen the dark tom at a gathering. He had grown, earning his full medicine cat name in the process. Carefully, now noticing a second cat making her way to their spot in the forest, Fogsight found her paws. She tucked all of them under herself, getting shakily up, falling thankfully only once. She couldn't stand on all four equally. The paw that had mistepped hurt if there was too much pressure on it. "Thank you for finding me," She said, glancing around for what had happened. "I think I climbed too far, Nightclan trees aren't used to cats in their boughs." She joked, wincing again at her paw. @medusa @smokey Fawn | words: 259 | notes: she's picking up her gf's habit of joking with pain

Lichenfrost 58 Moons, TreeClan, (S) WarriorI've got a heart full of pain A head full of stress Lichenfrost stared angrily at the brook's waters; her reflection frowning back at her. A puff of air left her nose and her face strained as it tried to form some kind of friendly smile - what emerged was a pained grimace, making Lichenfrost quickly drop her features back into her hostile glare.
"Wow, that was stupid. You're stupid." Lichenfrost muttered grouchily, slapping at her reflection in annoyance. Everyone else made it seem so easy, giggling, smiling and affectionate touches. It made her face hurt when she tried and skin crawl if she even thought about it.
She hoped it wouldn't be like this with Fogsight but somehow it was worse. The mere thought of touching her nose to Fogsight's ear made her pelt heat up unbearably. Ever since that talk about feelings with Appleshade, Lichenfrost hasn't been able to look at Fogsight for more than five seconds before strange itchy feelings spread through her chest.
A high-pitched yowl echoed through the trees, causing Lichenfrost to bristle up like a baby bird. W-What? A terrible chill dripped down her spine and her paws quickly began to move her towards the yowl, starting to race as her mind pegged the yowl as Fogsight.
Lichenfrost burst into the clearing; first thing she saw being Fogsight standing unsteadly on three paws and two Nightclan cats. A low-pitched snarl echoed in her throat but she didn't leap at the two instantly - which was pretty impressive given that the old Lichenfrost would've started the fight on sight. Her pale green eyes darted between the three; spotting the garlic and catching a whiff of herb dust coming off the two cats, not unlike Falconstorm's scent.
Medicine cats? Lichenfrost's fur remained bristled but she stopped snarling, marching stiff-legged towards Fogsight and given her a worried nudge. "Are you alright?" She asked gruffly, keeping a wary eye on the two medicine cats. "Who are you?"

curiosity is not a sin... ...but we should exercise caution with our curiosity Shadowchaser Shadowchaser greeted Smokefur with a low, distracted purr that lasted a few heartbeats, his focus entirely on Fogsight's injured paw. That was her name, wasn't it? Shadowchaser could not claim familiarity with most TreeClan cats, but he had picked up a few names here and there. He smiled, the expression mild and polite (and appreciative) as she took the... er, garlic wake-up-call in stride.
"Fortunately, nothing appears to be broken. You were lucky." The chestnut tom's tail swept forward, and he held it steady in front of the pale she-cat's muzzle. "I want you to follow my tail with your eyes, please." It was a good way to check her senses. He could all too easily recall some of the stories about cats who had sustained head injuries and failed that little test. Indicating something else was seriously wrong.
Another TreeClan cat? Shadowchaser had been prepared to acknowledge them with a second mild smile, when the brawny silver-furred warrior rushed over snarling. Shadowchaser raised a paw in self defense and to try to calm the bristling she-cat, but it ended up being unnecessary.
She was giving them a chance to explain. We're lucky the situation isn't reversed, and it's one of my sisters in Fogsight's place. He... wholeheartedly believed Darkstorm would have run in with claws unsheathed if she saw Thornscar or Cobrastrike limping in front of two non-NightClan cats.
"I'm Shadowchaser, Smokefur's apprentice." A dark brown ear rotated to indicate the silver tabby beside him, and he caught his mentor's eye, hoping she would not mind if he started off the introductions. "Sorry for the interruption. Where was I... oh, yes." Shadowchaser raised his tail again (after having coaxed the fur to lie flat again with a quick lick). "Follow my tail. Just checking something."
He moved it to the left, and then to the right, then back to the center, watching Fogsight's eyes. medicine cat of nightclan williams @poptart @medusa | jk rowling | background image | table by phoenix

into that bright world to I go A snarl reached her ears- interrupting Shadowchaser's intructions-a common sound when you appear on enemy territory. Fogsight swung her head around, concerned that even though she was with medicine cats, Nightclan would still take her presence in as a hostility. Though her vision had yet to settle, the cat that appeared was a familiar one. Lichenfrost, she thought with a twinge of sadness, knowing she would be unable to assist her friend if her temper got out of hand. The rest of her feelings were relief, feeling the nudge the white and silver warrior gave. The smaller warrior leaned on her friend as the medicine cats explained their presence, looking up to assess Lichenfrost's reaction. She was upset for sure, but Fogsight couldn't place what emotion had crossed her friends face. She had asked if the smaller warrior was okay, so Fogsight gave her a response. "Sometimes the tree just doesn't want you there," She joked, mind going back to training with her mentor and learning this skill for the first time. It was unique to her clan, but that didn't mean they wouldn't mess up sometimes. "I feel okay, but let us see what the medicine cats say." Her next words were calm, though inside she felt a bit shaken. It wasn't fun to fall and she hoped with her age that she could avoid the pain of the mistake. Fogsight turned her gaze back to Shadowchaser's tail, following it diligently with her eyes. It was starting to unblur, meaning her eyes only jumped once or twice to follow a blur that turned out to be the incorrect tail. Lichenfrost 58 Moons, TreeClan, (S) WarriorI've got a heart full of pain A head full of stress Lichenfrost glare remained frozen on her face as the tom introduced himself. Shadowchaser? An apprentice with a warrior's name. Her nose hadn't lied, these two must be the Nightclan medicine cats. Her distrust didn't fade though, and she decided to make it clear with a swift baring of teeth.
"Sometimes the tree just doesn't want you there,"
Glancing at Fogsight, Lichenfrost turned her hateful glare to the tree, as if challenging it to a fight. The she-cat would rather Fogsight have Falconstorm see to her, instead of Nightclan cats. They could lie, potentially putting her in harm. Yet, if Fogsight collapsed on the way back to camp... Lichenfrost's claws slid out into the ground in frustration, her worry for Fogsight clashing with her distrust for enemy cats.
She stared at Shadowchaser's tail for a few moments as he flicked it back and forth, before looking back towards the border. Her ears kept twitching, searching for any potential signs of enemies.
