Name: Deerpaw => Deerleap
Age: 10 Moons
Gender: Tom
Clan: NightClan
Rank: Warrior Apprentice
Picture: Young and still small:
Once he finally comes into himself:
Description:
Deerpaw is in one word, delicate. He half the size of any male Apprentice his age and looks decidedly feminine in everything from his looks to his name. His pelt is soft brown and marked by black spots. His eyes are wide and doe-like; the warm brown often showing his emotions no matter how he's feeling. His entire body is lean and feminine from the lean muscles he's developing to his small paws that move silently across the ground. His ears are likely the thing most likely to be noticed first though as the are abnormally large and bat-like. He often gets teased for them but he tries to ignore it. His smaller stature is the other thing that is noticed as he has never really grown like he was supposed to.As he ages he will get taller but he'll retain his more feminine shape. He'll grow into his large ears a bit, but they will always be very large.
Description Summary: A lean bodied, black spotted tom with large brown eyes and large ears.
Personality:
Deerpaw is one of those cats that is easily overlooked and one that is forgotten even easier. His voice is almost always very gentle and mirrors his quiet personality. Despite this, he has other gifts. He may not be too forceful or brave, but he tends to see things others just by being silent and listening. He's good at picking out those that are lying to themselves; a gift he's not happy about even if it has its advantages. He's very perceptive about those around him; he's had to be in order to survive so long. He lacks true confidence in himself due to those that should have supported him always giving up on him when he couldn't do what they expected of him. He was always sick, always smaller than the rest. He could hunt small prey like mice but got himself hurt trying to hunt anything bigger.
He can't really fight well, but will still stand up for himself despite the risk of getting the crap beaten out of him for the insolence of it. He's always falling over something and causing a mess wherever he goes because he'd just so accidentally clumsy no matter how hard he tries. This makes his attempts at grace look awkward for him no matter that he's doing his very best. He's very naive and trusting of those around him; believing his clan wouldn't harm him on purpose. He believes those that hurt him only did so because he was at fault somehow. He's very warmhearted and doesn't stay angry for long unless the matter is very serious. He's very soft-spoken and rarely raises his voice unless he has something urgent to say. He's also a cat that enjoys physical contact; which doesn't always end well for him.
History:
Deerkit was born in the heart of a harsh leafbare to Doverain and Bluegaze; a pair of the clans Senior Warriors. He was one of three born to the pair and has two siblings; Fangkit and Asperkit. [His brother and sister respectively.] There was a violent snowstorm during his birth causing Deerkit to fall desperately ill. The illness persisted for moons on end; making it hard for the kit to gain strength like his siblings. He stopped putting on size and had a hard time developing any sort of muscle. This disadvantage saw him an entire season behind his siblings in beginning Warrior training. When both his brother and sister earned their Warrior names Deerpaw struggled and soon the Warrior assigned to him deemed him unfit to be trained; telling him how useless he was to the clan.
At this point he was ten moons old and still so small and fragile. He'd gotten taller but was still very delicate in appearance. He gave up on himself; feeling that his Mentor's words were truth. He'd never be a viable Warrior for the clan; no matter how hard he tried. He slunk back to his parents only to be confronted by the clan's new leader Foxstar. The large she-cat knocked him over and cornered him, letting him that he would not be allowed to give up no matter how hard things had become. She would make sure he was placed with a Mentor that wouldn't give up on him; even if she had to be his Mentor herself. She told him that if nothing else she believed he was meant to do more than sit in the Nursery and be miserable. Maybe he wasn't meant to be a Warrior or maybe he was, but he'd never find out unless he tried.
This made Deerpaw rise back to his feet and confront the she cat in a show of force that he'd never before shown. He asked how he could be a Warrior when StarClan clearly hated him because otherwise why had they made him so weak from the very beginning. Why had they made him so different? Foxstar's reaction that day had been to snuggle him; letting him know he had all the strength he needed inside him if only he was willing to look. The incident lit a fire inside him, and Deerpaw made the cautious decision to try again. Now Foxstar has assigned a new Mentor to him; one she says will benefit from an Apprentice as much as Deerpaw will benefit from him. He isn't sure what to expect from this mystery cat, but he's at least willing to take that first step forward.
Other: Deerpaw is Homosexual. [Purchased in SiteShop.]
