"There’s a lot of things you need
to get across this universe.
You know the thing
you need most of all?"
to get across this universe.
You know the thing
you need most of all?"
Moon Tree. Of all places she'd expected she'd have to go in her lifetime, this was the one place she'd hoped not to ever need to be. Deputy or not, Foxfern had always believed it would be many moons before she ever even had to think about coming to Moon Tree to recieve the nine lives of a leader. It definitely wasn't something she'd been expecting; that was for sure. Now though...she found herself nervous and a bit afraid of what was to come, but she held her head high and kept moving forward; refusing to let herself be intimidated by the unknown. Yet still her heart was pounding and she knew she was shaking, honestly she couldn't help it.
Pinestar...she could never had expected that the strong, talented fighter of a she-cat would be so injured as to be unable to lead the clan any longer. She hadn't led them for long, but she had led them well and now...Now how was Foxfern to step into those footfalls and do any better than Pinestar had? Here in the quiet with none but StarClan to hear her, she could admit that she was afraid for what was to come. She was Deputy though, so she'd known coming into this that it was possible she would have to one day lead. She just...hadn't hoped it would be so soon. She was still adjusting to all the eyes constantly on her as Deputy, and now they would all look to her as Leader, what was she to do?
She moved further into the quiet inside the cavern and knew her time had come to face her past and her future. Ripples of awareness began in her mind like water moving in ever growing waves. Some were things from her past, others did not belong to her. She wondered who it was she would face in this moment but nothing could have prepared her for the cat that came through the mist to face her. Dark eyes met her own and a painfully familiar form came forward with his shrewd gaze and confident gait. Pain made her heart clench in her chest and she had to dig her paws into the ground to keep from taking a step back.
She hoped for anger to come, but it didn't and she didn't know what to do with the heartbreak that filled her frame and made her shake before this tom that had hurt her so much more than anyone ever realized. Nomad was a large cat, and stood as handsome as she remembered him and it was all she could do to make herself meet his gaze. He seemed to know, like he always did, how he was affecting her and a derisive snort of amusement left him.
"You need a hand to hold."
