i'm headed straight for the castle THEY WANNA MAKE ME THEIR QUEEN Exiting her newly contruscted den, Firestar was able to take in the sights of everything back to it's former glory. Dens rebuilt, the fresh-kill pile growing, the sounds of talking clanmates. Despite the chatter there was a lingering sense of loss. Cats mourned the death of loved ones, those who perished in the fire, otheres who died in the aftermath. Firestar had to face the fact that it would take a long time and nothing could be done to speed the process along. However, in an effort to remind her clanmates what they fought to protect everyday, she headed for the hill-top. Ceremonies in mind, she prayed to StarClan it would lift the spirits of her Clanmates for a little while atleast. Anything to keep them going, encourage them that they were not forshaken.
"Lets everyone old enough to catch their own prey gather for a Clan meeting! Her yowl rang true in the evening air. Those relaxing outside in the camp clearing turned to face her. A few poked their heads out from within the warrior or elder's den before venturing out. Firestar wasn't in any hurry and decided to sit upon the hill-top, her paws kneading the ground slightly and her ears pitched forward. A picturesque image of a strong leader. Ready to address her Clan with a clear voice and steady tone.
Content with waiting, Firestar relaxed her gaze to travel across the gathering cats. She noted those who looked weary and some who seemed to harbor some sort of animosity. It didn't come as a surprise to the calico leader that she was blamed for the fire. She even blamed herself. StarClan sent the fire to stop the battle she was fighting, the loss of land and life was on her shoulders, a mistake that her clanmates paid for. Looking away to let her eyes settle on the paws of those near the front of the gathering, Firestar attempted to compose herself once more. The last thing LightingClan need was to see their leader visibly shaken.
Again with control of her emotions, she tilted her head back up. waiting on the last of the stranglers to join them.

Born to live your legacy, existing just to fill your needs...
Ears angled forward as Morningfrost heard the familiar call sound from the Hill Top. She stood, a sweep of her tail all that was needed to bring Eaglekit and Dawnkit to her side. Firestar had told her this morning that her kits, along with a number of others, would be apprenticed today. The rebuilding of the camp had occupied every cat for some time, but the day was finally here. Even though she had given them both a thorough grooming earlier, they had since been active while they waited for their ceremony, so Morningfrost gave both her kits a quick grooming to ensure they would not appear bedraggled before the Clan. She eyed them critically as she finished with Eaglekit, trusting her calmer daughter not to muss up her fur while she tended to her brother.
“Stand up straight now, and don't fidget. You're about to become apprentices and I expect you act like apprentices, not kits,” she spoke in the same familiar cold, clipped tone that demanded obedience that she always used. The typical motherly pride that most other queens would hold in their tone at this moment was no where to be found. A kit becoming an apprentice was no great accomplishment. All it meant was that they were able to survive their first six moons of life, and there were plenty of simpletons that had managed to accomplish that. She flicked her tail, leading the both them out to the gathering Clan, “You'll sit at my side until Firestar calls your names, and I don't want to hear the slightest mewl out of either of you.”
She settled herself near the front of the gathered cats so she would have a good view, so her kits would know she was watching closely and would not tolerate any foolishness from either of them. And so she could get a good look at who their mentors would be. If she found them lacking, she would just have to supplement her kits' training herself, along with Peregrinewing. Her mate joined her shortly, giving both his kits a quick, proud lick on the head before sitting just behind them. Morningfrost saw Firebird, Darkcloud, and Blazefang all heading out of the elder's den, the elderly pair sitting just outside while Blazefang headed for his brothers, Mudpelt and Gustclaw, pushing his way to sit between them with a cocky grin on his muzzle. At least Morningfrost could rest assured that the cripple would not be mentoring either of her kits.
A casualty of this so called family that you have turned into a travesty.

Cloudyfeather 23 Moons, LightningClan Queen The nursery had become a flurry of activity. The queens and the not-so-small herd of kits inside had been forewarned of this morning's ceremonies. Cloudyfeather hadn't been able to eat a single thing, so busy grooming each of her three kits, supplementing her fussing with small encouraging smiles. Was it too much to hope for that Sunnyheart or Redscar might mentor one of hers? Cloudyfeather admired both toms, though she felt closer to Sunnyheart (understandably, given that he was her littermate).
"Lets everyone old enough to catch their own prey gather for a Clan meeting!"
Firestar's call made Cloudyfeather jolt as if she'd been spooked by a crow. Cloudyfeather shook her head. She was being silly. And likely looked silly; with all her attention going to Blazekit, Jaykit and Marshkit, the pretty tabby had forgotten about herself. Giving her coat a few thorough licks (and giving Morningfrost time to get her two kits out of the nursery first), Cloudyfeather felt prepared.
Well no, not really. But she had to look prepared, didn't she?
Cloudyfeather kindly allowed Roseflight, Nutkit and Bluekit to pass as well. Once the other queen had gotten a foxlength or so from the den entrance, Cloudyfeather ushered her small group into the grassy center of LightningClan's camp. Or... what it had once been. Even now, the scent of ash and soot hadn't quite vanished, and she felt a deep pang of melancholia strike as she pictured Flashbrook's face. Her father had been one of those lost to the terrible burning smoke.
Don't think about that. Today isn't a day to be sad. It's a day to be joyful. Finding a place beside Batchaser, Cloudyfeather gave Blazekit, Marshkit and Jaykit a final lick between the ears.

"Let everyone old enough to catch their own prey gather for a clan meeting!" Firestar's call brought Dappledheather out of her thoughts, a nice relief from her work. The inside of the elder's den was almost complete, Dappled one of the warriors being tasked with weaving in the final touches. Her patrol a few sunrises ago had found a beautiful stash of ferns to use, perfect for blocking the wind that plagued the elders. The warrior shook her pelt out, her muscles feeling her work. Without her concentration, she could feel the ache in her paws, each claw making themselves aware with each movement she made. There were a few holes left, but they could wait till after the meeting, the soft-furred warrior decided, giving her shoulder a quick lick. Lightningclan was settling back in, and perhaps this meeting was to show just how well they were returning to their ruined camp. Stepping out of the den, letting the elders leave first, Dappledheather squinted into the light. She trotted quickly around the cats, hoping for a good view. She spotted kits, a large collection of them. When did we have so many? She thought, surprise building. So many new warriors to train! With a spot chosen, Dappledheather focused her attention back up towards Firestar. Would she get an apprentice? Only Firestar knew.

Poppythorn, LightningClan, 38 Moons, Warrior Poppythorn rose from her nest as she heard Firestar's call. Her fur remained flat although the unwanted yet familiar whispers echoed in the back of her mind - it's finally happened, they know, she'll be banished. Shaking the dust from her fur, the black she-cat exited the den - calm orange eyes showing only mild curiosity, hiding the storm inside her.
As he gaze fell upon the queens and their kits, Poppythorn's fears evaporated like mist and she let out a quiet purr. Of course, another season, another ceremony. The chilly moons of Leaf-Fall weren't the best time to start training, but to the young kits of the clan, the day must be the highlight of their lives so far.
The ebony ex-queen settled beside her brother, Spottednose, as he joined the crowd facing Firestar. Poppythorn turned her gaze to the kits. She hadn't visited them, but she knew their names and their mother's names too. Ever since loosing her own before they were even born, the warrior always took interest in the details of the newborns of the clan - wishing them the best.
Eaglekit, Dawnkit and their mother Morningfrost. Not the most motherly of cats but Poppythorn viewed that as the queen's own loss.
Blazekit, Marshkit and Jaykit, and thier mother Cloudyfeather. A better mother in her opinion, and the ebony she-cat gave the queen a warm blink - despite not being close to her.
Bluekit, Nutkit and Roseflight. She regretted to say she didn't know much about that queen...
Poppythorn scanned the crowd in silence, wondering which of the eager warriors would be chosen for their mentors. At least there was no shortage of kits, she chuckled to herself - her heart aching slightly as she remembered the litter she could of had, had she not have been cursed.

Roseflight
"Let everyone old enough to catch their own prey gather for a clan meeting!"
The ebony queen jolted awake at her leader's words, the mother of two had been enjoying the last few minutes of alone time with her two perfect offspring, both Nutkit and Bluekit sat patiently waiting as Morningfrost's bossy voice tore though the nursery with the same air of dissatisfaction that she always seemed to have. For once, couldn't she at least try to have a heart? Briefly Roseflight wondered if she even had one. Her thoughts were interupted by the youngest of her two kits. " Mama, it's starting" Bluekit jabbered excitedly to her brothers and Roseflight gave her daughter a lick on the ear before setting about cleaning her kits up. After a few minutes of her maternal fussing and doting, it was time to leave and sending a greatful smile at Cloudyfeather when the other queen allowed her through the pure black feline slipped into a spot with Nutkit and Bluekit following along obdiently as she gave them last minute encouragements . " Now remember, Firestar is going of what she thinks is best, so promise me, you will try your hardest to get along with your mentor?" The warm maternal voice fluttered softly over the heads of the eager kits and they nodded to confirm they had heard what their mother had said. " Alright, remember that your father and I love you very much" The somewhat emotional queen spoke, nuzzling each her kits in turn and looking over them with pride in her gaze, she got them this far, thought the first crucial months of life and now, they were ready to do it all on their own. i'm headed straight for the castle THEY WANNA MAKE ME THEIR QUEEN Firestar watched the cats gather with a stoic expression. Even if she forced a smile, it took too much for her to keep it up. Instead, the she-cat focused her attention on the kits exiting the nursery. She had spoken with their mothers earlier in the day and they all knew what was coming. Firestar only hoped it would rejuvitate LightingClan.
Leaving plenty of time for the clan to gather, Firestar squared her shoulders and called out the names of the kits. Marshkit, Eaglekit, Jaykit, Blazekit, Dawnkit, Nutkit, and Bluekit, it is time you are all made apprentices, She told them watching as the kits moved a little closer to the center of camp.
From this moment on, until you receive your warrior name you will be known as, Marshpaw, Eaglepaw, Jaypaw, Blazepaw, Dawnpaw, Nutpaw, and Bluepaw. She spoke clearly, making polite eye contact with each apprentice as their names were changed.
I call forth, Poppythorn, Mudpelt, Dappledheather, Tawnytail, Galestorm, Ravensky, and Tallstrike, Like before she gave enough time for the cats to come closer. It wasn't usual for the clan to have so many apprentices at once but Firestar didn't worry too much about it.
"Poppythorn you will mentor Marshpaw, Mudpelt you will mentor Eaglepaw, Dappledheather you will mentor Jaypaw, Tawnytail you will mentor Blazepaw, Galestorm you will mentor Nutpaw, Ravensky you will mentor Dawnpaw and Tallstrike will Mentor Bluepaw," Her voice carried well and she paused between each named pair named. Which allowed mentors to greet and match up with their apprentices.
"I hope each of your mentors will pass on their knowledge to you and teach you how to be strong warrior for LightingClan," Firestar finished the ceremony by starting off the chanting of each of the apprenitce's new names. FIRESTAR background image | castle | table by phoenix

Cloudyfeather & Mudpelt
Poppythorn, Dappledheather, and Tawny...tail...Cloudyfeather's heart sank a little at that last name. Tawnytail was the mother of Morningfrost, and it made the young queen quiver in her own fur at the thought of interacting with either one of them ever again. But Tawnytail was mentoring her little Blazekit - ah, Blaze paw - and she couldn't fail him. She couldn't let cowardice win. "You will all be wonderful," she whispered positive affirmations to her three, when the chanting had died down. "Listen to your mentors, be respectful. A-And..." Cloudyfeather's soft features went slightly blank as she struggled to find another nugget of wisdom to share. She pulled from her own life experience instead. "And don't get discouraged if you don't understand everything right away. You will be great warriors in due time."Having said her piece, Cloudyfeather went to Tawnytail next, and said something that (in her haste to get it over with) sounded like "pleasetakegoodcareofBlazepawthankyougoodbye." Cloudyfeather quickly skittered away from the senior warrior, and almost bumped into Poppythorn as a result. "A-Ah! I'm sorry. Please take good care of Marshpaw, Poppythorn. She... She doesn't always feel like she fits in." Cloudyfeather's sky-blue eyes found the plush calico mentoring her third kit. "Please be patient with Jaypaw, she can't communicate very easily." It was no secret that Jaypaw was mute. Would the Clan think less of her because of that? That big bleeding heart in Cloudyfeather's chest shivered with dread at the thought. If she could protect Jaypaw somehow... She would. ~*~ Mudpelt had once again been humbled with an apprentice of his own. He respectfully dipped his head to Firestar, listening with sharp focus as each kit became a 'paw, and was given to one of the warriors their leader had singled out. Eaglepaw. That was his new apprentice. Turning, the stocky brown warrior found his gaze meeting the younger cat's, and he touched his nose to Eaglepaw's, remarking how much the kitten still smelled like the nursery. This was Larkfeather's younger brother, he thought with a sort of detached realization. Mudpelt briefly looked for her in the crowd, his gaze fleetingly coming to rest on Blazefang and Gustclaw. They deserve apprentices as well. Both of them. If possible... He would like to ask Blazefang to help with Eaglepaw's training. Not seeing Larkfeather, Mudpelt masked that small scratch of disappointment, and returned his focus to Eaglepaw. "If you are ready, we'll begin a tour of the territory now." And a serious talk about the Warrior Code. Words: 415 Words Tags: @zen , Hellion , @marshymutt , @shadow , Silver (Larkfeather mention), @medusa , williams

Poppythorn, LightningClan, 38 Moons, Warrior Poppythorn's ears perked in surprise and she turned to stare at the newly-named Marshpaw. She'd never had an apprentice before - she supposed it was because she in a volatile state after the loss of her unborn kits... and the unfortunate loss of her mate, both in relationship and life, soon after.
It had been a few seasons since then and Poppythorn guessed that Firestar had decided that she was now a fit candidate to be a mentor. The ebony she-cat stood slowly and made her way over to Marshpaw, touching noses with the chubby tabby kit. The scent of the nursery brought painful memories to her mind but her orange eyes remained as calm as ever.
"You'll find your training easier than you fear." She murmured, believing her words to be encouraging.
Poppythorn turned away from the apprentice, about to move towards her brother; who seemed to be roughly nudging cats and proudly gesturing to her. Her black shoulders tensed as the queen Cloudyfeather nearly bumped into her, offering a forgiving smile as the queen stammered an apology.
"A-Ah! I'm sorry. Please take good care of Marshpaw, Poppythorn. She... She doesn't always feel like she fits in."
"Of course Cloudyfeather, I will mentor her to the best of my ability." Poppythorn replied, watching as Cloudyfeather requested something similar from Dappledheather. How did the she-cat feel? Scared? Proud? Both, perhaps? A sense of longing bit into her rib cage as she remembered the kits she could of had, before the ebony she-cat moved away.

"Dappledheather you will mentor Jaypaw"Her fur rose along her spine in excitement, whiskers quivering. My own apprentice! She stood with a graceful nod of her head, moving towards Jaypaw to touch the top of her head with her nose. "We will train well together little one." The soft warrior murmured against the apprentice's fur. Jaypaw was going to be her first apprentice, but the she-cat knew she would not back down from this challenge. The young cat's muteness would not be a hindrance, there were plenty of ways to communicate that did not require voice. As the calls of celebration died down, Cloudyfeather, Jaypaw's mother bounded over, practically crashing into all she came across. Dappledheather felt an ache in her chest, as she listened to the queen ask for good training for all her kits. She wished she could understand the excitement of a litter becoming apprentices, but in her heart, she knew it would never come to be. She nodded at Cloudyfeather's words, a new determination flowing. "She will become a great warrior Cloudyfeather, I will make sure of that." She responded, blinking gently down at the young she-cat. Training would not be easy, Dappledheather knew that, but she would treat this cat as kin, build her confidence up and let her flourish.

Eaglepaw & Jaypaw
The sound of Lightningclan's leader's voice projected itself and caught the young toms attention. Was today finally his day? He would have asked had his mother not almost immediately usher words and began re-smoothing his pelt back to its earlier form and while normally he would have complained he bit his tongue this time.
“Stand up straight now, and don't fidget. You're about to become apprentices and I expect you act like apprentices, not kits,”
She used that one that told him this was not longer some game and as she finished his ears laid flat with slight annoyance and concern. What if he didn't get a good mentor? He knew who it wouldn't be. That his mother wouldn't allow him to fall under the leadership of someone pitiful. Or at least that was his hope.
“You'll sit at my side until Firestar calls your names, and I don't want to hear the slightest mewl out of either of you.”
That was when he did as he was told. His golden tabby pelt now shining as his gaze swept around him spotting the many others to also be apprenticed. Actually there were a lot of them. He waited patiently until his name was called to stand and trot forward.
-
Wisely Jaykit sat with her mother and siblings Blazekit & Marshkit as the leaders voice rang throughout the camp. Signalling Cloudyfeather to wash over each of them as the other queens and kits left the nursery. Jaykit had to admit she was glad to be getting out of the nursery, it was starting to become much to cramped inside with all the kits and queens. Despite all of that though the young she-cat was wondering most if she would be apprenticed. It wasn't like she was blind or anything but not being able to communicate was possibly going to be a big issue. After all Blazekit wasn't going to be there to bail her out when no one understood. Heck not even Cloudyfeather or Marshkit would be around all to often. Well, maybe not, after all her adoptive mother was rather worried about the three of them. No, She would probably be around often to at least check in the she-cat concluded her thoughts as her mother finished grooming herself and lead them out of the nursery and into the center of camp.
"Marshkit, Eaglekit, Jaykit, Blazekit, Dawnkit, Nutkit, and Bluekit, it is time you are all made apprentices"
Yes! Finally the young tom felt as though he was on his way to becoming a warrior!
"From this moment on, until you receive your warrior name you will be known as, Marshpaw, Eaglepaw, Jaypaw, Blazepaw, Dawnpaw, Nutpaw, and Bluepaw."
"I call forth, Poppythorn, Mudpelt, Dappledheather, Tawnytail, Galestorm, Ravensky, and Tallstrike,"
"Poppythorn you will mentor Marshpaw, Mudpelt you will mentor Eaglepaw, Dappledheather you will mentor Jaypaw, Tawnytail you will mentor Blazepaw, Galestorm you will mentor Nutpaw, Ravensky you will mentor Dawnpaw and Tallstrike will Mentor Bluepaw,"
"I hope each of your mentors will pass on their knowledge to you and teach you how to be strong warrior for LightingClan,"
Eaglepaw was cautious at approaching the older tom Mudpelt mostly skeptical of why he was given a seemingly average mentor, sure this cat was a lot bigger and older then him yet there was just something about him that threw Eaglepaw off. However most of the young cat's doubt started to lift after the two touched noses and the larger tom spoke.
"If you are ready, we'll begin a tour of the territory now."
"Of course I'm ready." He meowed confidently before turning tail and quickly making for the exit of the camp. His paws had carried him swiftly until he came to a abrupt halt turning to make sure his mentor was coming hopefully just as quickly. Eaglepaw's paws were itching to get out and explore and of all things run.
"You will all be wonderful," "Listen to your mentors, be respectful. A-And..." "And don't get discouraged if you don't understand everything right away. You will be great warriors in due time."
Jaypaw listened as her mother spoke. Surely no cat would be so mean as to expect them not to become warriors. Unless she was meaning Morningfrost but that she-cat was now in her past and Jaypaw seemed certain that the two of them would hardly cross paths. Now was not the time or place for such thoughts anyway and it was merely only a after thought as excitement must have been radiating from Jaypaw as she greeted her mentor Dappledheather. taking in the cheers of all those around her.
"We will train well together little one."
However it wasn't long until those cheers died out and all of a sudden Cloudyfeather appears almost frantic looking before speaking to her mentor. While She didn't mind she had already guessed what was going to be said. not that anyone really need remind her and for a moment she felt conflicted as to if she were truely happy about the whole arrangement. Yet when her mentor spoke it soothed her and she couldn't wait to begin, only giving a simple nod at her mentors words a smile brightly planted across her maw.
"She will become a great warrior Cloudyfeather, I will make sure of that."
