STONECLAN - APPRENTICE VIPERPAW Viperpaw slipped forward, his pads silent against the stone underfoot. His green eyes were locked onto a small brown shape that rustled amongst the dry grasses, occasionally squeaking. He forced his twitchy tail to still and wriggled his hindquarters before pouncing on the unsuspecting mouse. His paws slipped and the prey let out a sharp squeak before he managed to deal the killing blow.
Growling with frustration, Viperpaw glared at the mouse and picked it up - careful not to puncture its skin with his fangs. Every other piece of prey must've heard its warning and bolted for cover. His anger was short lived, however, as he spotted something glinting at him from the ground. His pupils dilated with wonder and he swiftly ran back to camp; determined to drop off his prey before going back for what he saw. --- Retracing his steps, Viperpaw found the curious item and picked it up - his top fangs causing some difficulty before he managed to get a hold of the stone correctly. It was a pretty stone, in his mind; a dark ashen-black but with a crack in the middle that revealed shiny, smooth insides that were as dark as the night sky. Some cats thought his hoarding was odd but it kept him happy, and that was what's important.
Besides... maybe Sorrelpaw would be impressed by his find.
The thought of impressing the older apprentice caused Viperpaw's tail to lift happily and he trotted back to camp - some drool pooling at the bottom of his open mouth. It was gross that happened but Viperpaw couldn't help it - his strange teeth and the rock in his maw forced it to happen.
Glancing about the camp, Viperpaw made a beeline for the apprentice den and dropped his rock at his paws; beaming at it proudly. The ebony tom sat down and looked around the camp clearing - searching for another cat to show to his interesting find. | mmm shiny stones | TAG | OPEN

The day had not been successful for Sorrelpaw. She was able to walk mostly without a limp now, but as the season started shifting, her leg stiffened up. Her pace and gait became unsightly, a nuisance to deal with. Her mentor, patient Frozenrain, let her forgo the relearning the hunting crouch to instead practice moving in general. It did loosen up the muscles, something she was grateful for. It couldn't be easy to teach a cat who already knew everything. Sorrelpaw was now the eldest apprentice, a fact that caused whispers whenever she left or entered the apprentice den. It wasn't in her nature to snap at a fellow clan-mate but the urge was still there after hearing the noise for so many days. She should be a warrior now! She knew going to the battle was her final assessment. And they had successfully won back the stones, at a cost. That cost being me. The apprentice thought sourly, trudging back to camp.
Given a break to rest her leg, she made a beeline for the apprentice den. Food was also suggested by her mentor, and as she passed the pile, it looked well stocked. But nothing caught her eye. Frustration rolled in her belly instead, souring her mouth towards any food. It would be a waste for her to try and eat something in her current mood. As she neared the den, her ears pricked up. The young tom, Viperpaw was there. He seemed proud of himself, though Sorrelpaw couldn't immediately see what caused the expression to appear on his face. Deciding to stop her sulking, Sorrelpaw waved her tail in a greeting. "What's going on Viper?" She asked, stopping in front of him.

STONECLAN - APPRENTICE VIPERPAW Viperpaw quietly watched his clanmates come and go from the clearing, waiting for one of his denmates to come by. His ears perked as he spotted Sorrelpaw entering the camp. He'd noticed her walk had become stiffer as the days grew colder but the she-cat still powered on like it didn't even bother her. She was so cool! He wished he could be that cool, or at least, be her friend.
Surprise swelled in his chest as she began to walk towards him and Viperpaw tried to seem thoughtful and wise - an attempt that was ruined by the frequent glances he sent her as she approached the den. She must be tired or something, since she didn't even get a piece of fresh-kill. Maybe he should get a piece for her later. He could giveher the mouse he caught!
Her greeting took the black tom by surprise and he made a few unsightly splutters before managing to speak an actual sentence.
"Hey Thorrelpaw! Look at thith cool rock I found." Viperpaw beamed, only slightly annoyed by his muffled 's's. He pushed the glittery black stone towards the fellow apprentice. The tom remembered that others weren't as keen on cool pebbles as he was and the pride and excitement in his gaze become veiled with slight worry. He hoped she didn't think he was weird, or lame. His noises were amusing, she thought quietly, trying to dig herself out of her sad thoughts. Interest grew as the younger apprentice grew flustered at her attention causing Sorrelpaw to huff with amusement. She didn't feel like a hero, or someone to be flustered over, yet here Viperpaw was, reacting as if she was the most stunning she-cat around.
"Hey Thorrelpaw! Look at thith cool rock I found." Rock? She spotted it now at his paws. It didn't look special, black in color, kinda round. A bit shiny from his saliva. Sorrelpaw let out a noise of confusion, shifting herself painfully slow to be able to examine the rock better. It was well known that Viper liked to collect rocks, and other assorted items from nature. His nest in the den was filled with those little gems. Although Sorrelpaw personally didn't understand it, it obviously caused the tom great joy. Keen to keep his joy there, the one bit of joy directed her way since Honeynose's visit, she looked back up at him briefly then turned her attention back to the rock.
"What's your favorite part about it?" She asked, gently touching it with one of her front paws to get a better look. It flashed up at her, catching the sun across the shiny inside. Her ears pricked up further, eye widening and whiskers turning towards the stone fully. A quiet "woah" escaped. What made it do that?

STONECLAN - APPRENTICE VIPERPAW Viperpaw licked his nose, eager to respond to her question, only to flash his fangs in a pleased grin as the stone flashed in the sunlight - causing Sorrelpaw to let out a quiet exclamation. Time to impress her with some very impressive rock knowledge.
"It's thiny! Thome rockth look plain but have pretty inthideth. They glitter in the light, I think it'th really cool." The ebony tom shuffled his paws, enjoying sharing his thoughts with the older apprentice. He didn't get to talk much - some cats found his speech annoying or time-wasting and they'd find excuses to leave during a conversation. It stung sometimes... but he was talking to Sorrelpaw now, and that's great!
He could find the star stones, which he liked to call them, quicker than he used to. If he had a good feeling about a particular rock, Viperpaw would bash it about against larger stones until they cracked open. A lot of the time, they were unremarkable but some of them turned out really cool! Those were the ones he decorated his nest with.
"I-I could find you thome rockth! Then they could make your netht cool too!" Viperpaw purred, his ears twitching with excitement. | what do girls like? rocks | TAG | williams MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

"It's thiny! Thome rockth look plain but have pretty inthideth. They glitter in the light, I think it'th really cool." As he spoke, Sorrelpaw tilted the stone again to give life to his words, watching the inside shimmer as the light reflected against it. It was rather pretty now that she paid closer attention to it, a neat find. She didn't have trouble figuring out his speech, moons of practice behind her. It helped to share a den of course, but Sorrelpaw found herself always finding the patience to stop and listen. Patience as she learned, was becoming a large part of her life.
With her thoughts souring, reminded yet again that she was stuck in training for several more moons, Sorrelpaw looked back up at the younger apprentice. He seemed excited, joyed that someone was willing to stop and learn about his stones. It was no secret that his nest was full of them, lining the edges like a beautiful ring of flowers sometimes found among Stoneclan's territory. What will happen when he becomes a warrior? Will the morning after his vigil be spent moving them? Will anyone help?
"I-I could find you thome rockth! Then they could make your netht cool too!" She shifted herself, aching slow as she got back to her paws. Rocks could be nice, Sorrelpaw thought. They're not as soft as the moss, but if we find something small, it could be a nice reminder. "Sure," she said, now fully on her paws. "I still have some energy leftover from today's training. Do you want to search now?" The unspoken, 'with me' hung in the air. She wasn't about to send Viperpaw off on his own, even with her injured leg, the pair of them could still take down anything in the forest. Besides, it felt rude to make him search alone when it'd become an item for her nest. 371 | @medusa | explore!!

STONECLAN - APPRENTICE VIPERPAW Viperpaw froze for a few moments, his eyes blinking rapidly as he tried to make sense of Sorrelpaw's invitation. S-She wanted to go with him? With him? The tom suddenly leaped to his paws, tail swishing excitedly. He radiated so much energy, it was as if he had turned into a small sun with a lisp.
"A-Are you certain? You wanna go with me?" The tom was flabbergasted - completely unable to believe his luck. Most of the other apprentices preferred to stay with their friends rather than him, since he looked and sounded weird. Yet here was Sorrelpaw, suggesting they go somewhere together!
Viperpaw's mind raced over all the places he knew in the territory. The Moss Meadow? No. The Barren Scrublands? No. Ah! The Sky Springs! The quiet waters always held a hidden abundance of strange stones, smoothed over by the clear pools. Plus, Viperpaw could show off and show Sorrelpaw how terrible great a swimmer he was! That was bound to impress her. There could be fish too, if there were fish in the pools, which would be interesting to try. It was also a pretty and peaceful place, maybe Sorrelpaw would enjoy the quiet, rather than being fussed over for her leg. Viperpaw risked a quick glance to the apprentice's injured limb. It looked fine to him but he couldn't know for sure, it must be bothering Sorrelpaw somehow...
"Do you want to go to the Thky Thpringth?" He suggested, wincing slightly at how clunky the name sounded in his mouth. The young tom wished for the millionth time that he could sound normal but, alas, Starclan can't fix what he was born with. | thky thpringth for thwimmin and fithh | TAG | williams MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Confusion painted her features, stumbling back at the apprentice in front of her leapt to his paws. Why wouldn't she want to go with him? They were training together, she should get to know every single apprentice at least in some way as to trust them on the battle field, or in an emergency. If Viperpaw's habit of collecting stones was a big part of him, then of course it was her duty as a clan mate to learn more. She may not fully understand it, but pushing it aside as nothing would be damaging. Sorrelpaw nodded, of course she wanted to explore with him.
"Do you want to go to the Thky Thpringth?" Sky Spring? She had spent a large chunk of her recovery there, using the water as a safety net while her leg regained its mobility. But she didn't want to tell Viperpaw that. Her focus there hadn't been on the nature itself anyways. All her thoughts had become a single beam of thought, get better. Heal and become what you should be for your clan. Maybe it would be a good thing to go there and see what it could provide besides a place to rest her legs. "Sounds good to me, do you want to lead the way?"

STONECLAN - APPRENTICE VIPERPAW "Sounds good to me, do you want to lead the way?"
"Thure!" The tom purred, near buzzing with excitement at the thought of being the lead - even if it was just the two of them. Sorrelpaw trusted him to lead the way! Viperpaw prayed he didn't get lost, that would be mortifying.
"Follow me!" He called, before turning to leave the camp; his tail raised importantly. Briefly, the thought of Sorrelpaw hurting her injured leg rose in his mind and he risked a brief glance to her. Nope! No, no. Sorrelpaw was tougher than the coarse grass that grew on the rocks, she'd be fine - probably better than him, even. Besides, if he did bring it up, he feared for the health of his ears. He'd prefer them to remain un-shredded.
As the ebony tom walked through the territory, he felt a bit uneasy; an awkward tail twitch or flick of an ear betraying his lack of confidence in the route. It was a futile worry though, since after a while of walking, they reached the group of clear pools.
Viperpaw gave a little hop as he reached the top of the stone he was climbing and saw the Sky Springs. He did it! He turned back to Sorrelpaw, bright green eyes glittering with triumph. "I did it!" He meowed before coughing in embarrassment.
"I mean, of courthe I did, I knew where I wath going..." Viperpaw's voice trailed off and he shot Sorrelpaw a worried look, fearing that she may think less of him after his confession. "Actually... I-I thought I wath lotht a few timeth back there."

Watching Viperpaw skitter out of camp was a nice sight, the brown and white apprentice thought, testing her gait carefully as she followed. Her injury was just stiff, though she knew her mentor would be annoyed that her instructions were ignored. One rock won't hurt. Then I can nap. Sorrelpaw decided, ears pricked up to keep focus on Viperpaw.
Their journey to the pools were, unconventional to say the least. She followed at a slower pace due to her leg, the extra walking already becoming a regret that sat deep in her muscles. A long nap. She amended, tilting her head curiously as Viperpaw suddenly surged ahead. "I did it!" He cried. Sorrelpaw blinked in confusion.
"Actually. I-I thought I wath lotht a few timeth back there." came the confession. Ah. Confusion flared up again, how did a cat not know their own territory? But then, Sorrelpaw reminded herself. She's been around longer, of course she knows it better. "Maybe your mentor can make you do scavenger hunts," She mused aloud, walking closer to the tom to survey the area for their prize. "Then you'd know the territory inside and out. Now!" Sorrelpaw turned her gaze back to Viperpaw, eyes full of the urge to explore. "Where would we find the best stones?" 215 | @medusa | my name is sorrel, im a cool tough cat *flexes*

STONECLAN - APPRENTICE VIPERPAW "Upon seeing the confusion in Sorrelpaw's eyes, Viperpaw looked away, his ears burning in embarrassment. He'd barely been an apprentice for a week, why on earth did he accept her invitation to lead the way? He barely knew where the borders were! Great starclan, he probably seemed like a kit fresh-faced out of the nursery to her.
"Maybe your mentor can make you do scavenger hunts,"
The ebony tom perked up a bit at that idea, it sounded interesting and fun! Though, it reminded him of the scavenger hunts his mum would do with him. "Find me some moss, a white stone and a feather, Viperkit! Treasured memories, sure, but those were games for kits! Viperpaw glanced at Sorrelpaw as she moved closer to him. Did she think of him as a kit? He hoped not, he wanted to be friends with the older she-cat, not a liability.
His green eyes widened in surprise as Sorrelpaw suddenly met his gaze, dropping his eyes as his pelt felt like it was on fire.
"Where would we find the best stones?"
"Um, well, the thmoothetht oneth are at the bottom of the poolth. We could try fithh for thome!" Viperpaw exclaimed, jumping down the rock and approaching the still shoreline of the waters. He slapped the water with a paw in an over-excited temperature test - jumping backwards with his tail fizzed up as the cold water smacked him the nose. "Oop!"
Turning his green gaze back up to Sorrelpaw, he gave her a bashful grin. "It'th a bit cold, heh heh..."

Sorrelpaw examined the pool, glancing up at Viperpaw as he spoke. His face that had previously fallen had returned to excitement. He seemed nervous around her, she thought but could not find the reason why. Had her injury changed her clanmate's perspective on her that much? Unable to seek the answer, she shook her head to clear the thoughts away. The moment was now. Viperpaw was excited to lead them into the forest, even though he hadn't been training long enough to know everything. He was also willing to share his hobby with her, no worry from being laughed at. If he could find joy simply, then Sorrelpaw could to. "Um, well, the thmoothetht oneth are at the bottom of the poolth. We could try fithh for thome!" Fish? She trotted after him, skittering slightly as the water flew up. A light laugh bubbled out. "We might not want to swim in that!" She joked, matching his green gaze with her amber one. "We'll have to race back to camp to dry off." At that, she touched the top of the water, screwing up her face at the temperature. It was quite cold...

I got this feeling inside my bones 6 Moons, StoneClan, Tom, Apprentice
Viperpaw's sides shuddered as he imagined swimming in the cold pools. They weren't from Rainclan! Although the ebony tom didn't mind getting his paws wet, he'd have a few grievances over being completely drenched.
His green eyes darted back and forth across the crystal-clear waters, no fish in sight. There didn't seem to be any cool stones lurking either. Honestly, he was relived, the sun may have been blazing in the sky but the wind certainly wasn't letting them forget what season it is.
"We'll have to race back to camp to dry off."
The apprentice glanced at Sorrelpaw's injury - she could probably still out-run him, even if she was injured. He still had kit muscle from the nursery. A mischievous thought prickled at the back of his mind and his lips curled upwards from behind his fangs.
"Well... that depends... on which one of us gets soaked first!" He swiped a paw across the surface of the water, aiming to scoop a splash of the icy liquid at Sorrelpaw. A kit-like playfulness entered his mind and he laughed as he tried to bounce out of range in case Sorrelpaw splashed back. “Well… that depends… on which one of us gets soaked first!” Sorrelpaw shrieked as the water hit her, bounding up in the air like the motion could prevent the water from soaking in. Her fur fluffed up in protest of the cold, and out of shock, making her appear larger than she was. A giggle floated out though. It had been so long since she had a den mate to play with, and she intended to take full advantage of having a new friend. She dipped both front paws in the water, flicking them at Viperpaw as he scuttled away. “Oh you’re on!” She cried, laughter coloring her words. Her competitive streak was soon to shine through. Though the weather may be cold, she wasn't going to be the only one returning to camp cold. She just had to catch the tom first. Though she was older, Viperpaw had the advantage of surprise on his side, and the ability to bounce across the rocks surrounding the pools much easier than she could. But Sorrelpaw wasn't going to let her injury win. It had already won for almost a whole season, it was her time now.

I got this feeling inside my bones 6 Moons, StoneClan, Tom, Apprentice
Viperpaw squawked, his hindlegs jumping as icy cold droplets splattered his tail and feet. He kept running, scrambling across the stones to find a suitable puddle - turning his head around to cross his green eyes and stick his tongue out cheekily at Sorrelpaw.
He might've been younger but he was agile and Sorrelpaw's injury wasn't helping her much, but Viperpaw knew she'd handle it just fine. The worry wart still glanced over his shoulder now and then only to increase his speed with a kit-like squeal of delight as he saw Sorrelpaw hot on his heels.
The ebony tom raced across a flat sheet of rock, skidding to a halt beside a shallow puddle of water that declined towards Sorrelpaw as she chased after him. Perfect.
"You can't catch me~" He teased childishly as she came within splashing distance. Rising onto his hind-legs, Viperpaw shoved his paws across the bottom of the shallow puddle; causing a large splash which angled towards Sorrelpaw.
