Greenleaf 31 Yr 4 ---------------------------- Honeysong We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky As we lie in fields of gold67 Moons, Senior Warrior of TreeClan She didn't quite know what had happened. She'd been patrolling with Moonfeather, checking the extent of the damage left in the wake of the fire, and then she'd started feeling dizzy. She had ignored it at first, thought it was because she hadn't yet eaten that day as it was early morning and the patrol came first for her. Her mind was filled with all the things that had happened this greenleaf, with becomming Lionstar's mate and surviving the fire and her adopted offspring becoming a full medicine cat. So much happening in the season, so much to think about. But the dizziness got steadily worse, and between one step and the next she lost time.
Honeysong found herself next in the medicine den, with Falconstorm hovering over her as she gave a look around and tried to figure out what had happened.
The tom next to her gave a loud sigh of relief. "So you're awake? Good. I've sent for Lionstar already."
"What happened?"
Word Count // Fawn // Notes -- Falconstorm Medicine Cat 37 Moons TreeClan He'd felt his heart stop when Moonfeather had drug in Honeysong just an hour previous, the older she cat unresponsive and limp and the young warrior queen having fits. He'd quickly taken charge of the unconcious warrior and sent Moonfeather to go and fetch Lionstar. Being as he was Honeysong's mate, he needed to be told that something had happened. What that something was he wasn't at first sure, but it became swiftly obvious as he put the clues together.
Sudden dizziness, slowly increasing appetite and loss of stamina, how she'd been complaining to him of being tired most of the time recently despite sleeping very well curled up with their oh-so-fluffy leader. He would have to check to be sure.
"Eat this." He told her when she'd come to and was wondering what was happening. If she was indeed expectant then not eating was a problem. He gave a shake of his head then came back with a few herbs to help her with her strength. "You collapsed on morning patrol. Moonfeather brought you here to me. How are you feeling now?"
"Tired, but that isn't new." She smiled at him and he gave her a delicate sniff before nodding to himself. The symptoms lined up, provided she wasn't just sick. Which, in his opinion, he didn't think she was.
"Did you know that you're pregnant?" He deadpanned it, then flattened his ears when she yowled like she was dying.
"WHAT?!"

blinded by the light of a new sun take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem TreeClan had avoided major damage from the fire, but the emotional upheaval to Lionstar's world was not yet through. Moonfeather had found him at the sparkling brook, lapping up the cool, refreshing waters - and nearly choking on it when she confessed that Honeysong was in Falconstorm's den. That Moonfeather had dragged her there after his mate collapsed on the dawn patrol.Lionstar gave little thought to how his behavior might look, the golden tom heading into the great hollow tree that housed the entire Clan, his expression tight with worry. He was a blur of golden-and-black fur, difficult to miss and difficult to get in the way of when his massive paws were carrying him so strongly. Feeling breathless though it had been a short trip back to camp, Lionstar came to a halt before Falconstorm's den, entering. "Honeysong!" He mewed, feeling his heart sputter and shake in his chest. The adrenaline subsided enough for relief to bleed through, as he saw her sitting up and talking with Falconstorm. That her adopted son didn't look very worried was also a reassuring sign.He sent a hasty prayer to StarClan, rough in its delivery but deep in it's sincerity. He had lost her almost once before, and he would never allow that to happen again."Did you know that you're pregnant?"The resounding screech of shock was an echo of his own thoughts. The golden tom's jaws parted, and stayed open, no sound escaping as the impact of Falconstorm's words bounced off the den walls. Honeysong was pregnant? HOW--well, he knew how -- but the conversation they'd had before had made kits seem like a dream they'd both agreed to give up.Lionstar went to Honeysong's side, pressing his pelt against her as if he could wrap her up like a ball of moss and protect her from the world. "You're certain? She's really pregnant?" His heart was stumbling over itself for an entirely different reason now, and it was clear he was holding his breath. He would never hurt her feelings intentionally, and Lionstar was cautious right now; cautious that Falconstorm had made a mistake. If he had, then celebrating too early would make Honeysong feel awful. He had promised her that she would always be enough for him. leader of TreeClan

Falconstorm Medicine Cat 37 Moons TreeClan Falconstorm held Honeysong's stare until he had to look away as Lionstar came in and settled himself next to her. He sighed. "Am I a medicine cat or aren't I? Yes, I'm sure." He noticed her flinch at his tone and softened both his manner and his voice. She was in a delicate state just now, and he needed to handle her with kit-gloves. "The symptoms line up perfectly, and dizziness and lack of energy isn't uncommon with the early parts of pregnancy, particularly when the body isn't getting what it needs." He came over to lick the top of her head, headbutting her firmly with a soft purr until she relaxed.
"Now, I am going to be blunt with the both of you. I don't want to hurt you, but this has to be said. Because she's miscarried before this pregnancy is likely to be difficult. As soon as she starts to show she should go on as little activity as possible." Queens didn't hunt or generally go on patrols anyway, but it warranted saying. "You should stay close to camp for the duration, as long walks may prove too much for your body as your kits grow."
He leveled his gaze at his leader. "Make sure she eats, she has this tendency to forget sometimes when she's preoccupied. No missed meals."
"I'm not a kit, I know how to take care of myself." Honeysong commented, clearly annoyed.
"And I'm the medicine cat. I know what I'm talking about." He let out a low huff of sound, but remained calm. "Lionstar, Honeysong, this pregnancy could be perfectly normal or it could be very rough for both of you. I just don't know. What I do know is that a queen that has lost a litter once is more likely to do so again. Humor me please? Take things easy and don't push your body." He gave her a lop-sided smile, pouring on the charm of one who once called the she-cat before him 'mom'. "I would like to meet my new siblings, and the clan could definitely use new lives after the rough two seasons we've had."
She sighed and nodded.
You felt the gravity of tempered grace falling into empty space No one there to catch you in their arms ## @@ Notes Honeysong We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky As we lie in fields of gold67 Moons, Senior Warrior of TreeClan She couldn't believe her ears. She was pregnant. She. Was. Pregnant. Pregnant! A queen, a mother to be! Pregnant! Her heart was in her throat and tears burned her eyes. StarClan had sent her new kits, even as she'd failed to protect the first litter she'd been given. It was her chance to prove she deserved to be a mother! Better yet, she now had a mate that adored her.
Honeysong leaned back a little bit to rub her head under Lionstar's chin, purring softly at him. It was too early to celebrate, she felt, as the thread of her miscarrying the kits remained high. But she believed in Falconstorm, and she was determined to do whatever it took to keep these kits.
Her surprise was still on her features, and her heart emotions sling-shotted between elated and terrified. She wasn't really showing yet, and the kits were too new to move around inside her yet. She'd feel better when both those things were true. A very visibly pregnant queen with kicking and squirming kits in her belly was a queen that had reached the point where being a mother was a certainty. Until then she'd remain cautiously optimistic.
She didn't want to start talking about them yet, even to Lionstar, she was still too afraid that she'd wake up and it would have been a dream, her collapse simply from not eating before going out on patrol. Weakness from lack of food was a thing.
Falconstorm had moved back from them now, giving them a sense of privacy though they were in his den at the moment rather than their own. She noted he was doing something like cleaning, though she didn't see anything out of place.
Her gaze landed back on her mate and she gave him a weak smile. "I'm sorry for scaring you. I can't imagine what Moonfeather told you when she came to get you." Word Count // Fawn // Notes

blinded by the light of a new sun take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem As far as Honeysong's safety was concerned, Falconstorm's words became gospel. Light work only, and he would personally see to it that she was given enough food and water to keep her fat and happy for the entire duration of this pregnancy. Lionstar looked at his mate, and the expression ricocheting betwen two sets of golden eyes confirmed they were experiencing the same feeling. Elation and fear. Joy, over the possibility of a miracle. Terror, and genuine heartache, the kind that would last for seasons upon seasons to come, if that miracle were to fall through."No matter what happens, I will take care of you." Lionstar promised, rubbing the edge of his jaw against Honeysong's cheek. "Share a meal with me." The Clan leader's smile was soft, but full of warmth - as bright as the greenleaf sun through the trees. He wouldn't forget to give thanks where it was due, however, and he spoke to Falconstorm before the healer could get too caught up in what he was doing. "Thank you for being blunt with us, Falconstorm. She's in capable paws. I think between the two of us and your siblings, she'll never leave camp again."Lionstar's whiskers twitched, tone affectionate. That wouldn't be such a bad thing. Obviously he couldn't confine her to their nest for the rest of her life, but Lionstar was resolved to halfheartedly try. If he could mother-hen her for a while, it would go a long way to soothing some of his own building anxieties. StarClan, she deserves a second chance to be a mother. Are you listening to me? He would have given any number of lives to guarantee that Honeysong's pregnancy would end in new life, not tragedy. Sadly, the future was never guaranteed.StarClan had given him great power and great responsibility, but they had not given him the gift of complete, total control. No cat should have that power, even if it would have been used for a very, very good reason. Lionstar purred, the sound private and meant only for Honeysong's ears as he led her out of Falconstorm's den. "I think the stars will line up for us, Honeysong." They had done so before. Their relationship had been well worth the wait; their kits would be too. leader of TreeClan 375ish | Justice | notes: xD He has become Lionfluff. Fluffstar.

"Go straight to your nest after that please, she needs to rest." Falconstorm's voice kept Honeysong from saying anything to her mate at first. She just nodded, rising slowly to make sure she wasn't dizzy anymore. She had, after all, passed out. She purred softly at Lionstar as they left the medicine den, quietly happy to just be with him. This would have been more than enough for her. The great love of her life at her side the rest of her days. Kits were unexpected but absolutely welcome. If she managed to keep them. The lilac-colored she-cat rolled her eyes at his proclamation that she'd never leave camp again, hitting Lionstar with her fluffy tail as they headed out. "Lionstar?" She told him, tone quiet and trembling with fear. "I'm really scared." She leaned against him as they walked along, feeling his strength and trying to absorb some of it into her own body. But he was hopeful. "I want to believe it will be okay, but it's too soon for me to do anything but wait." Terrified that she'd lose her kits all over again before she'd ever met them. Her mate would take care of her, she knew that. He'd promised that kits didn't matter, and she also believed that. But she also knew he'd be a wonderful father, one of the best. "I'll feel better when I'm round and the kits are moving around." Fawn

He would be her pillar. The rock she could lean against and catch her breath. His pace was steady, paw-steps evenly carrying him towards their now shared den that was the ancient stump. Not for the first time was Lionstar pleased that they had a den all to themselves; this was something neither one of them wanted to put on display for their Clan. It wasn't that Honeysong did not have plenty of cats who cared about her, and likewise for Lionstar, they were just private by nature. Their personal lives were just that, personal, and with the exception of a rare few, Lionstar intended to keep this quiet until there was more certainty. Lionstar pressed close, hearing the fear and feeling it in the way she clung to him. "Sometimes that's all we can do is wait. Whatever happens, you will always have me by your side. You won't have to face this alone." Never in a dozen moons had he thought he'd be looking forward to leaf-bare, but he was. If they were blessed with kits, then Lionstar intended to hunt for Honeysong and their offspring until his paws fell off from the cold. He rubbed his nose with his mate's, his expression soft yet firm in his resolve. Though the future was uncertain, and hope wasn't a very productive emotion, Lionstar felt... strong. He felt strong, after too many sunrises of struggle and fatigue and one or two mistakes he shouldn't have made. Even if he had no control over the outcome, he was heartened that they had this chance at all. He had a mate. He already had a family, and in Lionstar's eyes, his happiness could only increase at this point. Lionstar gestured to their shared nest with a flick of his ear. "Lay down, I'll get your favorite." leader of TreeClan

She stayed quiet as they headed to their den, trying to just let her whirling emotions calm and focus solely on keeping the kits inside her body. Till it was time for them to come, until she could finally be a mother to kits that were hers and Lionstar's, a mother and a family. After all this time. It was all she wanted, if StarClan would be kind. She gave her beloved mate a weak smile and settled in their nest when he told her to lay down. Honeysong rested her head on her forepaws while Lionstar went to fetch her something, just sitting there and thinking. She wanted so badly for this to go well for her, to see the great love of her life be a father like he was meant to be. He deserved to have a tiny little kit call him dad. Tears burned her eyes and she swept her tail against her face and curled up a little. A little tom that looked like him with golden eyes and too much confidence, one that she could coddle and fuss over and sooth when he got hurt. StarClan help her, she wanted these kits so badly. "Please, please, let me keep them. I will never ask for anything else for the rest of my life. Just let me keep these kits." She prayed to StarClan, not caring if Lionstar were to hear her. Fawn
