Take my all, I surrender
You will die another day
The changing of the leaves had always been something of great interest to Larkfeather; even if she didn't like the cold that often accompanied the beautiful sight. Today though, she was forced into actually having to pull her own weight along with the rest of the clan. The fire had taken much away from LightningClan and now the Warriors of the clan were having to really work to make sure all had food to eat. So here she was in her least favorite place doing something she wasn't that good at.
She could hunt, sure, but no matter how hard she tried to be halfway decent at it she had always struggled through this aspect of being a Warrior. Often she could get one of her admirers to give up some of his own hard won prey, but today wasn't one of those days. She had only wanted to watch the falling leaves from the safety of her den, but now she was out in this place where the water still ran clear and prey still resided.
It wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for how wet and nasty it was. Dainty white paws moved carefully through the muddy path as Larkfeather tried her hardest not to get any more dirty than she had to. She had to hunt for herself this time, it was too important to leave to anyone else. So far she'd had no luck finding anything but she couldn't go back to the clan empty pawed so she pressed onward.
Already she could feel the slimy damp earth squishing around her paws and she winced each time she stepped at how disgusting it felt. She just wanted to get out of here! A movement to her right caught her attention and she turned; spotting a rabbit caught in the mud nearby. Taking her chance, Larkfeather lined up with her prey and pounced. She slipped as she landed and the rabbit darted away leaving her on her side covered in as she struggled to get back up.
A loud curse left her as she fell no less than three more times upon trying to right herself. Great, just great! So she was stuck and dirty and tired and hungry! Why, StarClan, why?! Her feet felt like heavy rocks were holding them down and each time she moved she sank a little deeper into the mud. Her pristine white fur that she took such pride in was now a dank brown and nothing she did could dislodge it. After falling for the tenth time she was just done with it and didn't try to move again so she could try and regain her strength.
Her body hurt from falling so much and she just felt so weak! "For crying out loud, why must StarClan hate me so much! Why does it have to be so wet here, it's disgusting! I hate it, I hate it, I HATE IT! I am so done here! I want to go home, right now, and if one of those dimwits tries to tell me I should bring home prey like a proper Warrior I'm going to claw their eyes out and I don't care about the consequences." She was so done, and for once she let her always soft voice rise into the air with clear agitation and frustration. "HELP! SOMEONE GET ME OUT OF HERE THIS INSTANT!"
