As the cold breeze blew threw the trees around him the white tom cat could not scent anything other than his fellow Clan mates scents from the patrol that had gone out earlier in the day. The scent of prey was stale as there was not much for the Clan to catch, and it got worse the deeper into leaf-bare they got. The grouchy half-blind tom had given up being quite as he stomped back to camp… no fresh kill in site.
Snowscar was a surprisingly good hunter in the clan despite not being able to see completely well. But in Leaf-bare he found it extremely difficult. Stopping for a break he sat beside a small boulder and looked around, the trees were blurred, but to him it was normal, all he had ever known. With a sigh he scented the air once again… nothing. Tinysong spotted Snowscar, and her heart seemed to be beating faster than usual. Often had she felt that way when he was around... it could worry an outcast like her. Her kittypet rounded features softened more than usual, but the sadness still hung in her eyes.
She creapt up softly--as she could anyway, her steps were very loud nevertheless--and laid the tip of her tail on the white warrior's shoulder. "Hello." The brown she-cat's ears flattened, realizing she couldn't say much more than a greeting.

At the arrival of the small brown she cat he smiled weakly, this cat always acted differently around him for some reason. This head strung warrior couldn’t see what was right under his nose. ’Oh hello there TInysong.’ he mewed in his usual bland tone. ’Caught any nice fresh kill today?’ he asked making conversation to break the awkwardness that lingered in the freezing cold leaf-bare air.
His white shoulders rippled with his muscles as he continued to walk back to the camp, he wasn’t about to stop out in the cold for longer than he needed to, prey or no prey.

"No, I haven't caught a thing..." The she-cat admitted. She gazed at him, almost adoringly, before catching herself. A moment of pause and whiskers twitching. "Do you want to try and hunt together?"
It had seemed ages ago since Tinysong made a reasonable catch; a bird that had been as big as she was. Well, she flexed her claws into the ground, hoping the tom would say 'yes' to her thought.

Snowscar gave her a glance that told her he was feeling her worry at not being able to catch anything for the Clan. In the snow they needed it more than ever. After the pause he stopped in his steps and looked at her blurry figure through his odd coloured orbs. ’Sure…’ he mewed, he knew they couldn’t just give up, they had to try.
Looking into the sky he could see that more snow was on the way, but hopefully the two of them wouldn’t get caught out in it. They had time for another scout around in search of the dwindling amount of prey.

The she-cat felt her heart flutter, and the cold eluded her n that moment. Only fleetingly, she had felt accepted. Her paws dug into the thick layers of white, creeping along the deserted rocks. Green eyes sharpened on a lone figure.
An owl; not the kind that preyed on cats, which meant it could be used for prey. Tinysong flicked her tail to Snowscar, hoping he would help her catch it. That bird could probably feed five cats in leaf-bare...

At the flick of her tail on his long snowy pelt he was instantly alert and followed her vision to the owl as it sat unaware of them on a rock about 3 fox lengths away. Instantly crouching low to the ground he seemed to disappear in the snow, his coat only showing in the patches where he had failed to take the time to groom himself properly, but he was not the type of cat to care about things so minor.
’I’ll go this way,’ he mewed indicating forwards, ’And you could go around that tree to the side of him?’ he asked hoping that it would work, a catch like this could feed quite a few of the cats in the Clan, and they needed it badly now. Before he made a move he checked that she was ok with the plan and wondered if she was the type that would say ‘no’ if she didn’t agree anyway.

Tinysong agreed to his plan immidiately, stalking around the creature. She checked the air to make sure that she would not be scented, and that the owl would not notice her pelt sticking out among the colorless ground. After getting in a nice position, the warrior crouched and waited for Snowscar's signal.
If it was just the trick of her eye, she thought she saw it. Leaping on to one of the bird's wings and sinking her teeth into the feathers she began her best assualt.

The white warrior waited until the small she cat was in position and then focused on the blurred owl ahead of him. He prayed to StarClan that he would be able to catch it and that it would not escape. He could see that Tinysong was more visible than he was in the snow, it felt nice that this season was one where he could hide well, it was a rare occasion,
With a slight flick of his tail Snowscar signalled for the she cat to start her descent towards the unsuspecting prey. Creeping slowly forwards he was aware that the wind was on their side and was blowing their scent away from lonely owl. As he got ever closer he stopped and prepared to pounce…

*Falconeye pad through the forest deep in thought. With leafbare here, prey was hard to find and snow was annoying at best. He was trying to figure out a solution when, he ran across a fresh scent from Snowscar. He knew the cat had went out early. As deputy, he made it his job to know. Not that he wished he would have stopped him; Snowscar was one of the best hunter's despite his eyes, just like Falconeye was one of the best because of them. He followed the trail a bit and Tinysong's scent added to it. He gave a rarly seen smile as he thought about that. He always wondered if the tom had any clue about how Tinysong felt, but he figured not.*
*As he scaned ahead, Falconeye spotted the she-cat as she came around and Snowsong as he prepared to take point. Following their line of sight, he saw the owl they were after. Great StarClan, would that be helpfull! He decided to throw his weight into the coming hunt and circled the other way. He assumed they were waiting for Snowscar to signal, but suddenly he saw Tinysong pounce on the owl. He broke cover and grabbed it from the other side, knowing she would need help to bring it down, indeed even hold it down!*

She continued to dig her claws into the creature, her teeth clamping down as she refused to let go. The creature attempted to fly away, but the wound Tinysong struck prevented it from doing so--as long as she held on.
Her ears flattened, hoping that Snowscar would be able to break it's neck or finish it in some other quick fashion. Her strength ebbed away from the winged-beast's thrashing.
Out of the corner of her eye, she could have sworn seeing a patch of fur. StarClan...?

*Falconeye felt the thing try to lift off and hissed as he dug in deeper with his claws. No! You are coming back to camp as fresh kill, or I am a mouse! He grabed the owls wing between his jaws and clamped down hard, feeling hollow bones crack beneth his jaws. But just as he started to feel triumphant, he caught a glimps of Tinysong. She was hanging on for all she was worth, but she was getting tired. Falconeye hoped Snowscar hurried. If Tinysong had to let go, the owl could lift itself enough to claw at one of them with its talons; and if he let go, the owl's injured wing could still be used to beat at one of them. When you're ready, Snowscar!*

Snowscar was instantly aware that the deputy had thrown themselves in to help them catch this big bird of prey. Leaping onto the owls other side he sank his claws in deep, he could see that Tinysong was fighting for all she was worth, and she admired her for that. This fresh kill was needed more than ever, but he had not expected it to be this hard to catch. He could however feel it weakening somewhat now that he had the weight of three cats clinging to it.
Keeping his eyes flicking between the two warriors and the owl he could see that they were winning this battle through team work alone. As the bird seemed to be giving up its fight for freedom the white warrior sank his teeth into the owls neck, he wasn’t sure if it had broken it but he was not going to let go just yet, he needed the others to be sure of it too.

Tinysong felt herself drop to the ground with the owl relaxing it's muscles. Quickly rolling back onto her feet ready to catch the creature until she noticed. The owl collapsed, whether from exhaustion or death, they would be able to drag it back to camp for prey.
She flicked her tail and purred. "That was great!"
Childishly, the she-cat bounded over to them with her green eyes twinkling. "Thanks for coming to help, Falconeye!"

Thankful that the owl was dead, or close to it he loosened his grip and let the part that he was holding fall to the ground. With a sigh of relief he looked to Tinysong. ’It was great wasn’t it?’ he mewed in agreement. ’Are you alright though?’ He asked sharing his rare sense of care to the she cat. He was glad that he had bumped into her on his way back to camp, and even more glad that Falconwing had followed their scent to the owl in time to help them catch the essential piece of fresh kill for the Clan.
With the hint of a smile he sat down in the snow, ignoring the cold and looked at Falconwing. ’Just shows what good team work can do doesn’t it!’ He purred, it wasn’t all that often that three warriors teamed together to catch some prey, it wasn’t usually needed, but it was a good skill to learn.
