Lilyfrost NightClan Warrior Let your heart be your compass, sweetheart Lilyfrost was searching for a member of Blackwolf's family and much to the surprise of those around her she was not looking for Bonetail, instead she was looking for the only remaining female in their little clan, Hollystorm and while Lilyfrost made sure her own brother's kept a wide berth between them and her unofficial mate she could not help but miss female companionship and if Hollystorm was going to be an aunt, Lilyfrost should at least make an effort to be polite to the new additions to her social group.
" Hollystorm?" she asked into the darkness that was the warrior dens, she half expected the other she cat to be out training her apprentice but she hoped that she was there, just so Lilyfrost could have some company that wouldn't baby her like her mother or brothers would. Lilyfrost did not feel arkward when she first approached the den but now, waiting in the darkness for a cat that may not even be interested in spending time with her, had her feeling a little flustered.
Lilyfrost blamed the hormones rushing through her body, she was not usually so social and while she was far from being the perfectly polite she cat her mother expected her to be, she had noticed she was starting to get fond of certain cats outside of her family group, Bonetail in particular had seen her affection first hand and while she did not realise what might of happened beyond that fateful night, she could not find in her to regret it, it was special to her and a secret to all but the tom she had considered giving her heart to.

27 Moons. She-Cat. NightClan. No I won't apologize for the fire in my eyes
She'd never known how much stress and heartache the color orange could give her until she'd called it off with Sunpulse. Her pulse had broken into a sprint this evening, when she'd bumped into a young ginger tom returning from patrol; it had only been Newtstripe, but for one paralyzing moment, Hollystorm had looked into the startled cat's eyes, and seen all the accumulated hurt and sadness of the past few days.
Newtstripe had disappeared, by the time she'd snapped out of it; no doubt more than a little startled by her rigid behavior. Hollystorm had growled, pressing the tip of her fangs into her bottom lip until she could get a grip on her emotions. I made the right choice. This mantra was savagely repeated until the jet-black feline could hold her head up proudly, and walk through camp the way she had before.
Hollystorm did not put her unhappiness or her stress on display. That was not for anyone's eyes but her own; only her family would ever have permission to view her when she was anything less than composed, and as far as Hollystorm was concerned, they didn't need to know. Bonetail hadn't asked about Sunpulse, and neither had Coyotepaw. Blackwolf seemed too deep into his grief to even care who she was seeing (or in this case, wasn't).
Her apprentice still despised her.
Without her own personal beam of sunlight... Hollystorm felt as if she were walking blindly into the dark. She had never felt so alone.
Until someone reached out to change that.
" Hollystorm?"
The dark-furred warrioress stirred, leaving her nest behind to answer the unexpected summons. It was the voice of Lilyfrost; a she-cat she didn't know very well, but had seen spending a great deal of time with Bonetail. Hollystorm, her expression neutral, stifled an unenthusiastic yawn. "If you're looking for Bonetail, I haven't seen him." Why would Lilyfrost seek her out, otherwise?
Hollystorm did not make friends easily; her haughty demeanor and her ambitious nature gave off the impression that she would rather step on you to get to the best sunning spot than invite you along beside her. It wasn't true, even if the only cat who thought that should've been obvious was herself.

Lilyfrost NightClan Warrior Let your heart be your compass, sweetheart Lilyfrost expected that response from the darker she cat, the assumption that she was looking for Bonetail and with her best attempt at a smile Lilyfrost forced herself to not snap at the female before her, after all it was not Hollystorm's fault that she was battling with pregnancy hormones, it was her white furred brothers.
" I wasn't looking for Bonetail, Hollystorm I was looking for you, I though it might be nice to form a relationship with some of Bonetail's siblings" 'Because you are gonna be an aunty' but the revelation was completely silent and Lilyfrost mustered up the control to speak once more and not threaten the life of the cat she was speaking to.
" I heard you were going through a rough time, with Ghostlight and Sunpulse, Maybe we could do something together?" she added softly, trying her best to sound sympathetic but it came off as more awkward, while Lilyfrost was usually a stony faced warrior that showed little emotion, now everything seemed to be running on high alert at the moment. Lilyfrost was legitimately a compassionate she cat underneath her hard exterior but few had seen her actually try and bond with someone simply because they know somecat she actually cares about.
" As long as you want to of course" she mentioned quickly as an afterthought to her little revelation that she was hoping to cheer the other she-cat up.

27 Moons. She-Cat. NightClan. No I won't apologize for the fire in my eyes
"I heard you were going through a rough time, with Ghostlight and Sunpulse, Maybe we could do something together?"
"I'm fine," was her knee-jerk reaction, Hollystorm not about to admit any weaknesses in herself — emotional or otherwise. Lilyfrost's invitation was as surprising to her as biting into a grackle and tasting frog. Why does she want to spend time with me? And did Hollystorm even want to spend time with her brother's new favorite hobby?
That's why you don't have any friends, Hollystorm.
The black warrioress almost winced. Almost. You know what? Even if we hardly say much, I want to spend time with someone who isn't throwing me dirty looks or avoiding me outright. Or someone she was trying to avoid. "Do you want to go hunting with me? The prey is very active along our border with TreeClan." No sooner were the words out of her mouth —pragmatic and boring — that Hollystorm realized just how far her social skills had fallen.
Enough of that.
Giving her pelt a little shake, as if trying to slough off the hard shell that had formed over her personality these past few moons, Hollystorm tried a different tone. "I've been out touch with things for too long," her verdant eyes found Lilyfrost's, and she hoped her tone came off as friendly. "Let's walk for a little while, catch up. Then we can hunt."
Better. Hollystorm felt a sliver of irritation grapple with satisfaction inside her heart. Why was it so difficult for her to balance things? I can either be a great warrior, or good company. Somehow, she had yet to determine how to be both, and it was driving her... crazy. Her mother had been a master at that balancing act; Ghostlight had had plenty of friends, and even won over her father's stubborn, sharp-edged heart. Perhaps it would be good to... reach out, form connections again. Accept that life did not have to be patrolling and fighting and hunting one-after-the-other until she died.

Lilyfrost NightClan Warrior Let your heart be your compass, sweetheart Lilyfrost felt a relieved purr escape her lips when Hollystorm accepted her offer of doing something and then suggested hunting and while Lilyfrost had experience with Bonetail's way of hunting, she had never really been around his familyenough to know anything about Hollystorm's, but with Dimstar's mate Starlingcry as a mentor, she had no doubt that it would be decent enough for her standards.
Lilyfrost had always been picky with who she hunted with and befriended, it was not because she didn't want to form connections but with warriors like Crowstrike and Jaystep as brother's she was given a wide berth when it came to forming friends. She had accepted early on that very few cats were brave enough to risk the black warrior's reactions enough to try and attempt interactions with Lilyfrost, for as terrifying they were she was just as beautiful.
" Of course, it would be a pleasure to talk and hunt with you, I wouldn't worry to much about getting out of touch, most of the clan is boring anyway" she assured the female, playing winking at her to show she was kidding, well at least a little bit. Lilyfrost did actually think half of her clan were not worth her time but still she had to appear polite.
Rainsong would have a fit if she found her daughter being, Starclan forbid 'disrespectful'. Shaking her head to clear thoughts of her families matriarch, Lilyfrost turned to glance at Hollystor.
If she was honest, she had never really paid attention to the darker warrioress but now there seemed like something was missing, like the spark she saw in Blackwolf vanish after Ghostlight's death, something was different about Hollystorm and she was not sure what it was from? Lilyfrost did not make it her mission to know other business but she was observant enough to assume that it may have to do with mentoring and things Lilyfrost was unfamilar with, like love.
" Regardless, I have noticed that you might of needed some pleasant company for once, I am sure neither Bonetail or Blackwolf are pleasant to be around at the moment" she added, more of a tribute to Ghostlight then to Hollystorm's remaining family, Rainsong had been very emotional when she revealed Ghostlight had indeed died to Lilyfrost.

27 Moons. She-Cat. NightClan. No I won't apologize for the fire in my eyes
"I wouldn't worry to much about getting out of touch, most of the clan is boring anyway."
Hollystorm smirked, an approving gaze resting briefly on Lilyfrost as the two she-cats made their way to the camp exit. We might just get along after all. Hollystorm wasn't the kind of warrior who let her pride for her Clan paint her Clanmates in any other colors than what was the truth. Oakblaze was a clumsy oaf, Ratfur was useless, most NightClan cats were boring or two involved in their own little lives; Jadefang was self-centered, Echobreeze's three brats were annoying on the best of days.
She wasn't going to pretend they were greater than who they were, just because they had NightClan blood. No, if they were great, they would stand out as such; the cats who were memorable for all the right reasons were easy to pick out... Blackwolf, Foxfern, Pinestar, Smokefur, Sunpulse... Everyone else (her brothers included, unfortunately) was so easily forgotten.
As her thoughts gradually turned to the bright ginger warrior she had once dreamed of sharing a nest with, Lilyfrost's voice intruded upon her thoughts - delivering mercy-killing to all the what ifs trying to take over Hollystorm's mind. "They never are," she replied, her smirk relaxing into something closer to a smile. Lilyfrost knew a thing or two about growing up with annoying male figures in her life. "Bonetail's a lazy furball even on a good day, and Blackwolf's... Tough." Tough, arrogant, bossy, pushy -- and broken, now. "He's taking some time to himself," Hollystorm muttered, finding herself unhappy with the uncertainty creeping into her tone.
Would Blackwolf ever be the same? First the hip injury had turned him crankier than ever, and then when her mother had died, her father's grief had been as sharp as Demon's claws; scouring everything around him. Hollystorm breathed in the clear air, letting the heat of the day settle onto her semi-long black coat. "Let's just say I could use some good news right about now. What's new in the life of Lilyfrost of NightClan?" Hollystorm opened the conversation up to the other she-cat, not wanting to discuss all of her own personal greivances.
As far as she was concerned - she was leaving her strained relationships with her father, her apprentice, Sunpulse and her siblings back in camp.

Lilyfrost NightClan Warrior Let your heart be your compass, sweetheart Lilyfrost smiled at the slight smirk that slipped across Hollystorm's face, almost the same as Bonetail's she noted to herself before silently reprimanding herself for thinking of the white warrior when she was supposed to be there to give Hollystorm some pleasant company. Hollystorm continued to speak, expressing her opinion on not only Bonetail but on the recent state of their father.
"Blackwolf might not get time to himself with Rainsong around" she raised her voice slightly to sound like the matriach even poising herself in the snobbish walk her mother had always executed so perfectly all those moons. Lilyfrost's ears flicked as Hollystorm inquired what was new with her and she felt a slight sense of panic at the sudden change in topic but pulled herself together quickly, being a part of Rainsong's family meant that appearences were everything and this was Bonetail's sister, she was sure that if he would not want their secret to reach her brother's, then his own family didn't need to know either.
" Nothing much really, Rainsong is order Jaystep ,Crowstrike and I around this last few days, apparently we don't 'bond' enough, that cat doesn't seem to understand that there is a reason why those tom's have no friends, because they are overconfident and irriratable jerks" She finished, with a tail flick to show her annoyance at her own siblings, like Hollystorm she had no sister's but unlike the darker warrior, she had five overprotective and irritating brother's hovering over her, just because she was the youngest.
Lilyfrost kept her little spiel short before she spotted a potential prey item and with a soft nod to Hollystorm to indicate she had found something Lilyfrost gestured for the other cat to make the first move, not willing or admitably able to show off her hunting skills,The growing kit's inside her sapped most of her energy and made her a little slower than usual and while she was staving, hunting privately or with Bonetail was all she could really handle.
As much as Lilyfrost did indeed like the other she cat, she was not sure if Bonetail wanted his family to know and it was not her place to tell them. She had no intentions to offend Hollystorm by not hunting with her and if she could locate a nice fat mouse that would suit her just fine.

27 Moons. She-Cat. NightClan. No I won't apologize for the fire in my eyes
Hollystorm didn't envy the other she-cat in the slightest. They had both lost a parent, yes (though her mother had not died a traitor to NightClan), but at least her remaining authority figure didn't force her to spend time with her brothers. Blackwolf instead seemed to ignore them all, as if the ties that had bound him to each of his three kits had collapsed in Ghostlight's absence.
Hard to say which is worse... Maybe Lilyfrost did have the better deal? Before she could comment, the slender gray warrior gave her a signal. Prey. Claws unsheathed instinctively, and Hollystorm flawlessly made the transformation from socialite to predator, stalking low to the earth, the scent of frog mingling with peat and wet fungi.
The frog was fast, but Hollystorm was faster. Quick as a snake, she darted, dispatching the creature before it could do much other than squeak once in surprise (or protest). Hollystorm carried it back to where she had left Lilyfrost, and began to make a cache - carefully scraping back a few layers of dark soil before laying down the frog. Unlike her brother, the idea of eating prey without taking care of the kits and queens and elders, was not one she acted upon.
Her role as a warrior overrode the selfish desire to eat her fill with no thought for anyone else. Hollystorm looked at the other she-cat, half-expecting a comment about it. "You could tell your mother there's a reason why jays and crows only get along with each other," Hollystorm flicked a stray clump of dirt from beneath her claws. "Their best company is themselves." They didn't exactly mingle well with other kinds of birds, and the same proved true for the two cats that shared their namesakes.
"You're not a little kitten," said Hollystorm. "You don't need their protection." Hollystorm always chose the path of independence. She would never allow another cat to imply she needed their help, or that she could not handle something on her own. Hollystorm believed in a cold self-sufficiency, but that didn't mean she was unkind or didn't know how to relate to others.
She'd just claw your ears off if you tried that overbearing nonsense with her.
Luckily, both of her brothers had no interest in even trying.

Lilyfrost NightClan Warrior Let your heart be your compass, sweetheart "You could tell your mother there's a reason why jays and crows only get along with each other, Their best company is themselves"
Lilyfrost just sighed in response to Hollystorm's words as the darker she can continued to say that Lilyfrost was no longer a kitten and that she didn't need their prorection. Lilyfrost knew all to well of the antisocial and sometomes rude behaviour her brother's seemed to show to the other cats but they did not dare try thate ruse with her or Rainsong, the ,matriach might be a pain in the arse but at least she still cared whether her kits were alright, something that Hollystorm's father did not seem to.
" I would be the first to admit that Jaystep and Crowstrike can be a little ...difficult to handle, most cats avoid them because they seem so ..." she paused thinking for a correct term to descibe her obviously unpopular siblings in a way that conveyed her own opinion but still had enought care in it to not offend them. " distant" she settled with that word, it may not really be correct in terms on her own relationship with her brother's. The gray she cat adored the overgrown tuffs of muscle to her very core. Family loyalty meant a lot tp Lilyfrost. "but I do appreciate them but it must be nice to have brother's that leave you alone?" she changed the topic back to Hollystorm, perhaps a little curious to see how the darker pelted warrior's relationship with her own brother's was like.

27 Moons. She-Cat. NightClan. No I won't apologize for the fire in my eyes
"You don't know the half of it," Hollystorm replied, able to freely express her preference for being left alone when it came to nosy siblings. "Bonetail doesn't care about anything outside himself, most of the time. Coyotepaw's quiet and keeps his business private. We don't need to spend time with each other to remember we're still family." But it would be nice... Hollystorm's dark ears flicked, curiosity taking the shape of a dragonfly in her mind, filling her head with buzzing energy. She wondered what it would be like, to be as close to her siblings as Sunpulse was to Moondance - or Hazeheart and Darkblaze.
It was hard to hide things around cats who knew you best. Hollystorm wasn't what she'd call secretive, but she was a private individual who didn't appreciate unwanted commentary or attention over her own business. "The closest we ever were, was in the nursery." Hollystorm added as an afterthought. "Coyotepaw and I played well together - Bonetail did pretty much nothing. He was more interested in sleeping and listening to our mother's stories than playfighting." Though the white warrior had been fairly decent at their little mock battles, he was usually just too lazy to apply himself.
Hollystorm had very very quickly grown tired of her slothful brother, and had virtually ignored him when they became apprentices. Starlingcry had been a cold, detached mentor. Hollystorm hadn't had time to worry about what Bonetail and Coyotepaw were doing with their time.
As they kept up their leisurely place, it was Hollystorm's turn to give the signal. A blackbird, too distracted by a worm or caterpillar on the rough-textured trunk of a pine tree, did not notice their approach. Hollystorm slid smoothly into a hunting crouch as if she might once again take the lead, but she flicked her tail and let her muscles relax. She had gotten the first piece of prey. Lilyfrost should get the second.

Lilyfrost NightClan Warrior Let your heart be your compass, sweetheart Lilyfrost could not help herself, while orginally she had only approached Hollystorm as a attempt to bond with the rest of Bonetail's family she now found herself in the very unexpected position of actually beginning to like and appreciate the other she cat's company. She listened attentively when the darker pelted feline spoke about her own brother's, how Bonetail was lazy and Lilyfrost nodded to express her agreement, she may like the tom but she did not ignore the fact that he was increadbly lazy, she just choose to see past it and look at the intelligence the tom hid underneath.
" No arguement there Bonetail is the laziest tom I have ever met" she commented, part of her relationship with the tom was they did not hide true feelings from each other and if Hollystorm was being honest she appreicated the way Hollystorm opened up just that little bit.
" Honestly, I am a little jealous of you, I wish my brother's left me alone" she added softly, giving the other she cat a friendly nudge as she spoke before falling silent as her hunter instincts kicked in a a distracted bird stole her attention, she waited a second to see if Hollystorm was going to catch it but within seconds was stalking foward, taking the other female's sudden relaxing as a cue to strike.
Silent as stone the female crept foward, bright green eyes locked onto her target and paying mind to her tail and pawsteps she got within leaping range of the unsuspecting bird. Unfortunately she mistimed her jump and the bird took off into the air, but Lilyfrost was not a quitter and with her powerful back legs she leapt straight into the air and snapped her jaws on the birds wing, sending them both to the ground where she quickly ended the stuggle with a clean bite to the struggling creatures neck.
She had done some damage to the bird in the process of catching it, it's left wing was torn and bleeding but it was still reasonably untattered. Not every kill would be perfect and while she had wished for a cleaner kill, she had caught the bird and that was all that mattered.
" Got it" she announced to her companion, a little out of breath from leaping around like some rabid squrriel but otherwise fairly proud of herself.
