"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather for a Clan meeting!"

It was sunhigh, a time when few cats ventured out of the cooling confines of TreeClan's camp. The sun was at its peak, and the day turned sluggish - the forest uninviting with this recent rise in temperature. However, Lionstar would let them all return to their leisure time shortly; with the five kits in the nursery more than ready to become apprentices, he saw no reason to delay it any longer.

"I am proud to say that greenleaf begins for TreeClan with the addition of five new apprentices," Lionstar made eye contact with the proud parents, and their not-so-small litter of kits all groomed to perfection. Molekit, Specklekit, Spottedkit, Leafkit and Cedarkit were ushered to the front, and the curious gazes of TreeClan darted between the kittens and Lionstar - eager to see who their mentors would be.

"Molekit, Leafkit, Spottedkit, Specklekit and Cedarkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Molepaw, Leafpaw, Spottedpaw, Specklepaw and Cedarpaw." He smiled at each young, shining face one at a time. Lionstar raised his gaze to the crowd, letting his voice carry over the Clan. So few of us...

Greencough had been like a wildfire, roaring and raging through his Clan, leaving only ashes and grief in its wake. Lionstar's expression was grave a moment, before he carefully willed his countenance back to something much more appropriate for the ceremony. "Molepaw, Leafpaw, Your mentors will be Nightsky and Whiteclaw. Spottedpaw, Specklepaw, your mentors will be Swandive and Lichenfrost. Cedarpaw, your mentor will be Badgerstrike. I hope these warriors will pass down all they know on to each of you."

The newly named mentors came forward to greet their apprentices, and as they each touched noses, the Clan took up the chant.

"Molepaw! Leafpaw! Spottedpaw! Specklepaw! Cedarpaw!"
