Sootkit perked up her ears from where she was curled within the protective crook of her mother's belly. She stretched both hind legs in turn, trying to rid herself of the last vestiges of sleepiness - she had a camp to explore - then she purred a good morning to her den-mates.
Though she wanted to be an apprentice more than anything else in the world, Sootkit knew that now was not the time, for several reasons. First and most importantly, the warrior code dictated that she should be at least six moons before she could begin her training. Having just passed her third moon, she still had a while to wait. Second, the Clan was still recovering from the leeching fingers of greencough. Meadowkit had only recently returned to the nursery after being declared fit again by Dawnblossom and Sandpaw - and it was odd to see the normally resilient kit so subdued and emotionally withdrawn.
Still, thought Sootkit, it will be enjoyable to join my den-mates on our apprentice journey.
Briefly, she gave her pelt a quick groom. Sootkit enjoyed being clean.

Kestrelkit 6 Moons - Tom - StoneClan Kestrelkit yawned. That had been a really good dream. He'd been holding on to Hawkstar's back, while the Clan leader went hunting. The sensation of the wind in his fur and the view had made Kestrelkit feel like he was flying.
He wasn't mad about waking up early, though. He was going to be an apprentice soon, which meant he needed to get used to this! Kestrelkit's dark amber eyes opened, and they immediately found the speckled pelt of Sootkit, one of the only other kits in the nursery besides himself and his sister.
"Hey," the tawny-pelted tom stretched, the dark bands on his front legs, back legs and across his chest revealed by this action. "Do you want to play SkyClan with me?" It was early, Kestrelkit could hear the warriors just now beginning to stir, and the thought of going into a quiet camp excited him.
With a conspiring light in his eyes, Kestrelkit lowered his voice, striding over to Sootkit to avoid being overheard by their mothers. "We should go on a quest. To... the Moon Tree! Sandpaw and Dawnblossom's den can be the Moon Tree. What do you say? Sound fun?" He was hungry, but he wanted to play more.
Any excuse to get out of the nursery for a while. Kestrelkit was happy to be home -but he'd forgotten how boring the nursery could be. Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can. 229 Words || noctali @kahani (In case Meadowkit wants to play too!) || Notes

Sootkit by now had finished grooming herself, her pelt was sleek, the greenleaf bounty giving her the look of a kitten who was well fed and content, any trace of tiredness forgotten in the early morning light. Yes, it was early, but Sootkit was used to waking up at his time. She liked the quietness of the camp as it was beginning to stir. It gave her time to daydream and decide what she was going to do that day. As it was, the whole day was stretched out ahead of her. Plenty of time to play! She purred in amusement as she looked over at Kestrelkit. "Absolutely! But you do know, right, that even the greatest warriors have got to eat to maintain their strength before going on a quest?" She started to walk slowly over to the fresh kill pile, her amusement evident in her loud purr. She suddenly realised how loud she was being, and toned her purr down. She turned her head towards Kestrelkit again. "Is this a top-secret quest, or should I tell my momma before we go?"[[Words: 183|Muse: Quite good, actually.]] Fawn

Kestrelkit 6 Moons - Tom - StoneClan Oh, right. "Oh yeah, let's get something from the fresh kill pile then," he replied, as if he'd forgotten that. "My Dad says that cats who go on quests have to eat a bunch of plants too, for the journey." Kestrelkit's eyes brightened. He had seen a clump of dandelions growing beside the elders' den! Those could be their travel herbs. "I know of where we can get some dandelions! C'mon Sootkit."
The tawny tom had two paws outside of the nursery when Sootkit asked about whether or not the quest was top-secret. Kestrelkit paused. Maybe they should tell their mothers first? Meadowkit runs off all the time, and she hardly ever gets in trouble. The sensation that came with this thought was either jealousy or awe at his sister's boldness, he didn't know yet.
"Nah! We can tell her all about it when we get back. And bring our Moms some fresh kill, too." Satisfied with that plan, Kestrelkit strode out of the nursery, his long legs making it hard to miss him even when he was trying to be stealthy. A few early risers glanced their way, and Kestrelkit's heart thrummed in his ears. What if they stop us from eating the dandelion leaves? It wasn't like it was going to hurt them. It was just plants, and plants helped cats; why else would Sandpaw and Dawnblossom use them so much?
Kestrelkit made a break for the fresh kill pile- which was really small. Only two mice and a sparrow, left-over from yesterday's hunting patrols. Kestrelkit poked the sparrow, whiskers twitching. "Awww, there's no lizards." I'll eat later, then. Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can. 270 Words || noctali || Notes

Meadowkit 3 Moons - She-Kit - StoneClanThe young female kitten was fast asleep, tucked neatly in a small furry ball at her mother's side, her whiskers just brushing the tip of Duskflower's warm chest as the young calico she-cat stirred to life, the loss of warmness at her side alerting her to her brother's departure. Staying quiet Meadowkit listened as Kestrelkit spoke to the only other kit in the nusury besides them, a small female called Sootkit.
Meadowkit liked Sootkit, at least most of the time. Since she and her sibling had been born, Kestrelkit had always been her playmate and she was sure that while she was away they had played without her. In her opinion, no cat would take her place as her brother's deputy.
As the duo exited the nusery giggling to themselves, Meadowkit felt a strange pang of emotion run through her that she had to search her memory to figure out what her father had called it... Jealousy... Meadowkit was not jealous of Sootkit, noone was a better playmate to Kestrelkit than she was and that was certain. However she could not help but stare after them with this look of betrayal.
The young cat then decided that she would not allow this outrage to occur, Sootkit would not be allowed to take her place as Kestrelkit's deputy and so with a determined huff the calico furred kitten raced after her brother and nuserymate.
"Wait for me Kestrelstar, Sootkit" she mewed as soon as her paws were placed outside the nursery. Calling her brother by his future leader name had become a game between the pair of sorts and while Sootkit may have played with Kestrelkit while Meadowkit was sick, she was back now and he was HER brother.

Sootkit stood still while she waited for Meadowkit to catch up to them. Looking at the other kit, she saw an almost imperceptible look of... something... she couldn't quite figure it out. She felt a moment's loneliness at the obvious closeness between the two siblings, she had no kin aside from her mother. While she was close to her mother, she missed the bond that she assumed existed between siblings who were closer than best friends. Still, there was something about Meadowkit that the younger kit admired. All she wanted was for the older kit to respect her and accept her for what she was; their den-mate, the closest thing to a sibling Sootkit had.
She called to Kestrelkit, who was a few paw-steps ahead of her. "Kestrelkit! Meadowkit has asked us to wait for her."
Suddenly nervous of Meadowkit's apparent sense of betrayal, Sootkit sat down on her haunches, drawing one paw self consciously across her ears.

Kestrelkit 6 Moons - Tom - StoneClan Even without Sootkit calling his attention to her, Kestrelkit's ears had pricked to the sound of his sister's voice. Great, now Meadowkit could join in their quest too; he'd wanted to let her sleep, in case she was still tired from being sick, but it looked like he'd been worried for nothing. "I'd never leave you behind, Meadowflight, my loyal deputy." 'Kestrelstar' puffed up his chest, then looked at Sootkit curiously. "You should be our medicine cat. What do you wanna be called? I think you look like a Sootsparrow! Or a... a..." What was soot? Something dark? He'd never seen it. "Sootfur, or maybe Sootwing!" He liked Sootwing, that was a good name.
Happy with their little trio, Kestrelkit began to bat one of the mice towards his sister, feeling like he should make sure she ate something before they 'left'. He could see the clump of dandelions on the other side of camp near the elders' den. Maybe they could talk to Fallenleaf on the way back? She was nice, and always seemed so happy to see them. Meadowkit 3 Moons - She-Kit - StoneClanMeadowkit smiled boldly as her brother promised to never leave her, his loyal deputy behind and then decided on a name for his new medicine cat and in her opinion Sootwing was actually a nice name for the lone kitten, Meadowkit could not imagine life without Kestrelkit or even Eagletalon as she knew the the other female only had her mother and while Meadowkit adored Duskflower with all her heart, she was no doubt a daddy's girl.
" I like Sootwing, our wonderful medicine cat" she announced proudly, doing her best to push aside her own feelings of jealousy away for the sake of her brother's happiness, it was only a game and Sootkit did not have anyone else. While the younger she cat swiped at her ears Meadowkit slowly approached the pair and gave Sootkit a playful nudge and her brother a loving headbutt before she noticed the mouse her brother was attempting to shove towards her.
She was not all that hungry and while she loved a good sparrow or something her favourite was the nice juicy flesh of a mouse after a day well spent and exploring was more important than food right now.

Sootkit What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything? Vincent Van Gogh✣StoneClan, 3 Moons, She-Cat Sootwing. Now that was a good name. That was a name she could get used to hearing. Sootkit knew, full well, that before she had joined their game, it was very much a case of ‘Kestrelkit and Meadowkit against the world. For her part, she was just happy to be included in their games, no matter what they entailed, no matter how much trouble she would get in as a result. She just enjoyed having friends. Well, Sootkit reflected, I have my mother, but it’s not quite the same. All my mother does is sleep currently. She admired Meadowkit greatly. The pretty she-cat was so confident, so sure of herself and what she wanted… Sootkit hoped she could be like her someday. Purring gently to herself, she delicately made her way over to the fresh-kill pile and took one of the few remaining items: a small thrush. "Thrush is my favourite… it is important to have a healthy breakfast. Are we waiting for our breakfast to settle before we have our travelling herbs, Kestrelstar?" She purred to herself as she settled back down, delicately nibbling on her thrush. Words:188, Tags: Fawn @kahani, Muse:Reasonable, Notes ✣

Kestrelkit 6 Moons - Tom - StoneClan With Meadowkit's near-death experience with greencough still fresh on his mind, Kestrelkit put on an eager face, trying to be encouraging. "Sootwing's right! We should eat before we go. Gotta keep our strength up." Kestrelkit worried about his sister. He couldn't help it; she was energetic and playful again, but what if that didn't last? What if she got sick again, because she wasn't eating enough?
Kestrelkit pushed the mouse until it was right in the middle of all three kits. "Let's share." The tawny tom stretched himself up to his full height (which was taller than both she-cats, which was less to do with his age and a lot more to do with his long legs), trying to mimic Hawkstar's confidence. "It's going to be a tough journey, we need to be prepared."
I guess I'm hungry after all, he thought, just as his stomach produced a low gurgle. Kestrelkit bent his head over the mouse, and after getting his teeth through the creature's fur and skin, was able to take a bite. It wasn't cold, but it wasn't warm, like the prey the warriors brought to the nursery sometimes - but Kestrelkit didn't mind. This is good! Not a lizard, though. He took another bite, enjoying the chance to fill his belly; with a burp, the tom kitten realized he'd eaten almost all of it.
Flustered, Kestrelkit laughed and quickly backed up. "Uh—you guys can have the rest!" He hadn't meant to be so greedy. Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can. 247 Words || noctali , @minxxy || Notes

Meadowkit 3 Moons - She-Kit - StoneClan
The calico kitten did not miss the brief look of concern that seemed to appear on her brother's face at her refusal, but it was simply because she was not hungry. Meadowkit remembered fondly when Sandpaw had told her that since she had recovered from Green cough she was now safe from it's toxic effects, at least for a while.
She really did like the medicine cat apprentice, her aunt Dawnblossom would be a wonderful teacher. Hawkstar, while not technically blood related was as loved as the medicine cat. It seemed that Eagletalon's two kits were more or less accepted as adventurous, hardly ever found in the nusery anymore so every warrior had a duty to watch out for the balls of fluff that darted everywhere with the speed of a diving hawk.
Glancing at Sootwing 'Meadowflight fluffed out her fur and smiled joyfully as Kestrelkit devoured most of the mouse. " Oh no Kestrelstar you need your strength, because Sootwing and I are gonna race you there" Meadowkit's sweet voice sing songed to her brother, nudging Sootkit pointedly towards there destination.
Perhaps it would not be such a bad thing to have an ally in which to tease Kestrelkit but deep down Meadowkit could not help the stirring of anger in the pit of her stomach whenever her brother looked at Sootwing, it was the same way he looked at her and Duskflower, like she was family and unfortunately for Sootkit, the role of Kestrelkit's sister and playmate was taken.

Robinwing, 83 Moons || StoneClan || Senior Warrior || Tom
Robinwing had pressed his luck. The Greenleaf weather had reached an uncomfortable heat, sending the poor warrior off to the medicine cat den in an attempt to find something to soothe his aching pains from the night before, he wasn't a young cat anymore and the double patrol as well as an afternoon of hunting had really taken a toll on his stiff muscles. None the less, not being one to let his pains stand in the way of his pride, Robinwing woke up that morning with a smile and a skip in his step as he intended to go visit Fallenleaf, an elder that he couldn't help but find himself fawning over.
But first, of course, he'd have to get something for his muscles. Relunctantly, the tom slowly made his way, his eyes rolling up to look at the sky, a calmness coming over him as he strode. Walking out the pain was the best way to deal with his newfound stiffnesses, and as relief came to him aching joints Robinwing couldn't help but let out a small sigh of relief. Maybe he wouldn't need to go disturb Dawnblossom anyways. He was about to turn and head straight for the elder's den, eager to lay his green eyes upon Fallenleaf's gentle features when he heard it.
At first he dismissed the small sound of steps as his imagination but it became quickly apparent that he was far from crazy. Out of seemingly nowhere Robinwing saw a kit bolting towards the medicine den. "...Sootk--" He found his words cut off mid way as he felt the impact, barreling over the kitten, and landing a cat's length forward, his old body outstretched across the camp. What followed was one of the the loudest groans as the tom slowly made his way into a sitting position, his muscles screaming at him with a renewed vigor. His first instinct, however, was the safety of the kit which he couldn't help but scrutinize over as she slowly readjusted himself into a standing position, "A-are you okay?" he asked, his voice laced with his own body's agonies. "Why are you in such a hurry? And towards the Medicine cat den? Is something wrong? Are one of the other kits injured?" Worry began to mount in the warrior's eyes as he forced himself to stand, refusing to sit by idly if something was wrong. Kestrelkit 6 Moons - Tom - StoneClan "Hey! Wait up!" Kestrelkit, very quickly went from being the leader to the one getting left behind. The mouse bones left behind, Kestrelkit raced after the she-kits, his eyes fixed on Meadowkit's colorful tail - so he almost didn't notice the crazy crash of Sootkit and Robinwing. "Whoa! look out!" To avoid bowling his sister over, Kestrelkit tried to leap over her, his foot clipping her ear as he soared. But the landing was all wrong - he tumbled right into Robinwing's side, seeing stars from where he'd bonked his nose on the senior tom's leg.
Ow! Watering eyes, Kestrelkit got onto wobbly paws, feeling sick and dizzy. "H-Hey somebody make it stop spinning!" Before he could start wailing for Duskflower or Sandpaw, Kestrelkit's vision slowly began to clear up. Embarrassed of how quickly he'd panicked, he tried to valiantly play it off by gently nosing and prodding his sister to make sure she was okay. "Sorry, did I hurt you? I didn't mean to!"
Robinwing sounded awful. As if all his bones had been broken! Turning to the warrior with wide eyes, Kestrelkit was quick to spill the truth behind their running. "We were going on a mission from StarClan. Sootwi--Sootkit and Meadowkit took off, and I chased after them. Then we crashed into you." Well that all sounded kinda bad when he said it out loud. The long-legged tom, his shoulder and nose hurting a bit from the collision, dipped his head to Robinwing. "Sorry Robinwing. Didn't mean to crash into you. Are you gonna tell our parents?" There was a note of fear in Kestrelkit's voice. He didn't want Duskflower or Eagletalon to be disappointed in him. Meadowkit 6 Moons - She-Kit - StoneClanMeadowkit was in pain, her head hurt from where her brother clipped her over the head as he attempted to leap over her and ended up smashing face first into Robinwing's leg, but pain was replaced by worry when she noticed her brother's seemingly dazed expression and immediately she moved forward to comfort him, before he apologised and moved to nuzzle her himself. " I'm fine Kestrelkit" she responded sweetly, the pain in her head subsiding as she blinked innocently at her sibling.
This was all her fault, if she had not challenged Sootkit to a race then they never would have crashed into Robinwing, feeling a little guilty Meadowkit glanced at Sootkit, just to make sure the other female was okay before she returned her attention to her brother.
Satisfied that her brother was okay Meadowkit turned her attention to the adult cat before them, nodding alongside her brother as he explained their game to the senior warrior.
" We really are sorry Robinwing, We didn't mean to run into you" she mewed softly making her way over to the elder tom with delicate steps, stopping a mouse length away she peered curiously at the fellow Stone Clan member " Are you hurt?" she asked softly, checking to make sure that the warrior himself was alright before they continued their game.
The worst thing that could happen was they had accidentally injured the older cat. That would almost definitely get back to Eagletalon or Duskflower, and if Meadow was honest, she never wanted to see her precious 'Daddy's" disappointed face and one look at Kestrelkit confirmed that he felt the same way. " No please don't tell Daddy or Uncle Hawkstar, It's my fault not Kestrelkit or Sootkit's and I didn't mean for anyone to get hurt, just please don't tell them Robinwing, I'm really sorry" she immediately sobbed after Kestrelkit asked if he was going to inform the kit's parents of what occured. Meadowkit had two big fears in her short life, Bugs and the look on her parent's face if she ever let them down.
She was not a bad kit really, sure she had her father's spirit and desire to explore the world, just like her brother did and while she had her mother's looks that may win her a mate of her own, she was content to stay side by side with her twin brother, inseperable til the end.
