note: darker content in later posts, you've been warned.Harmonymoon Entering camp with a pair of quail in her jaw, Harmonymoon turned to leave them on the on the fresh-kill pile. Her blue tail flicked back and forth as he noticed a certain limping cat from the corner of her eye. Her attention was drawn to him as he realized that it was Wildstripe. From the looks of it he was heading toward the nursery, curious why he was going there, Harmonymoon figured he could use something to eat. The healing process was taking awhile, or so she heard, Harmonymoon knew most of the gossip within the camp. It was safe to say that Wildstripe's injury was a challenging one for Kindleflare to take care of. Normally cats who broke any kind of bone would be asked to join the elder's den. Harmonymoon figured it was because Wildstripe was Firestar's half brother that he hadn't been asked to move. Harmonymoon also had a good feeling that Firestar wasn't one to suggest it.
Deciding that it would be kind of her to go talk to him, Harmonymoon picked up one of the quail she caught before heading toward the nursery. Tucking her head before stepping in, she gave a small smile before being pointed toward the back of it. Catching sight of him there, Harmonymoon drooped the quail before addressing him. "Are you hungry?"

He was really aimlessly wandering, no set destination in mind. He knew he had to be close to the nursery, but he couldn't bring himself to really check. He'd given up on his other senses since they had failed him so spectacularly when it came to protecting the cats he cared for and those that needed him most. His leg was paining him as well, but he felt like he deserved the stiffness and pain. He deserved it. He eventually just lay down where he was, deciding he'd gone far enough in his attempt to visit the nursery to simply listen to the chatter of kittens. It was one of the few things that soothed him. So when the warrioress called out to him he flinched and lifted his head, ears finally perking up to make sure he was at least looking in her direction. Was he hungry? "Not really, but I seldom seem to have an appetite these days. So I should probably at least try and eat some of it. Thank you." After all, she'd gone to the trouble of both hunting and then tracking him down to share. It took him awhile to figure out who was talking to him. Harmonymoon. Her name reminded him of his one trip to Moon Tree, of the sound of the wind and the way Cherrypool had described it for him. No one sense had bothered, and he hadn't asked. No reason to be a bother. "I'm afraid I'm not much company, Harmonymoon." Hellion

Harmonymoon Her ears flicked forward at his ears. It was never good for a warrior to stop eating, especially one that was trying to heal. For a brief moment Harmonymoon was tempted to seek out Firestar to have the leader of their clan intervene, but she stopped herself.
News of the badger attack spread through the camp faster than wildfire. Everyone knew within a few moments of Kindleflare being called out from camp. While some did blame the leader and Wildstripe for the death of Echopaw and Whitesparrow. No one dared to utter a peep once they saw the severity of injuries. Rumor was that Firestar lost a life and Harmonymonn was thoughtful enough not to ask. Her leader's life count wasn't of her concern.
The death of Echopaw wasn't anyone's fault but Harmonymoon did try to see where Wildstripe's depression was coming from. It was easy to blame one's self, survivor's guilt a few cats called it.
Unwilling to let him go without eating, Harmonymoon offered a soft purr once he agreed to try and eat some of it. Sitting herself down, Harmonymoon fixed Wildstripe with her mix-matched eyes as she waited for him to start eating. The mention of him not being good company was overlooked with a slight giggle.
"I am more then enough company for the both of us. Would you rather hear about warrior gossip or elder gossip? I know most of it," She asked him in an effort to either make him chuckle or accept his fate as her soundboard for the duration of time that it took for him to eat the quail. "You can shoo me away as soon as you finish that bird. I will wait here until all is left is feather and bones," She added, smiling despite knowing he couldn't see her.

He poked the bird with his nose, sniffing at it delicately for a moment before nibbling. He had so little appetite that he felt bad that she'd gone to such trouble, but at least he'd tried. He had always been polite to the she-cats. He finished after only a few bites of the quail before nudging it away from him. He managed his paws again, automatically lifting the bad one so that he would be in slightly less pain. "I don't really care for gossip, but you can talk about whatever you want." Cats talked around him all the time like he wasn't there. He did a careful bit of grooming, making sure there wasn't any of the bird's blood left on his face before speaking again. "What prompted seeking me out today? Surely there are cats more interesting than me?" Or had she come to simply yell at him as some of the others had. Useless blind tom. The only reason he was even a warrior is sheer stubborness, and he didn't deserve to be one. On and on they'd gone, cats that didn't think a blind warrior should even be in the clan, blaming him for the two dead she-cats. That didn't even go into having to face down Echopaw's mother. Hellion

Harmonymoon Concerned when he only took a few bites, Harmonymoon considered pressuring him to eat some more but stopped herself. Grief had a terrible way of filling one's belly to the point food felt like too much. Flicking her delicate tail back and forth, Harmonymoon did her best not to fret over him. She wasn't his mother and wasn't going to treat him like a kit, despite him needing someone to bat him over the ears and make him eat.
As he declined the offer of gossip but allowed for her to talk about whatever she wanted, Harmonymoon got comfortable. Then came the question she had been dreading. The reason she came to visit was a little bit of everything. She was worried about him like a proper clan-mate. She wanted to know if he was moving to the elder's den or if he could still walk. Part of it was to fuel her own need to know the latest gossip. Another part was just concern. He was hurt pretty badly.
"I was just curious. There is a lot of talk but I figured I could get it from the source. Your leg seems to still hurt and Firestar hasn't mentioned anything about a ceremony. I was just wondering if you were coming back to the warrior's den soon. We got new ones and it's pretty crowded. Not that I mind, it will make leafbare bareable with the extra warmth," She told him and rambled for ab it. Realizing she probably rambled too much, Harmonymoon tilted back her ears and dipped her head.
"You can tell me to leave if you want," She added wanting to make it clear that he had a say over the conversation even if he didn't want to talk much.

He felt his heart fall out of him at her words and he actually let himself collapse to the ground, ears lain back. "If I'm forced to go to the elder's den I doubt I'll live long. Without a purpose I have no reason to keep going." The warrior's den was crowded. Did that mean she was here to pick at him too? Was this she-cat so dead set against him being a warrior that she'd come to throw his grievances back in his face again? Was this a roundabout way of asking him when he was retiring? It felt like it, and the pain of it all hit him once again. "Harmonymooon, I appreciate your company, but please just go away now." Would it even matter, just now, if he snuck off and just died somewhere? Would anyone miss him? He had a sister who was too busy for everyone, and he had few friends. No one wanted him around, no one cared, he wasn't needed here. No mate, no kits, no apprentice. He wasn't good enough for those things. StarClan had been his only true companion for many moons, and even then only in his desperation for someone to talk to had he started his long conversations with cats that he'd never hear speak in return. Whitesparrow had given his life purpose, but she was gone now. He thought maybe Cherrypool would help him, she'd been kind to him the one time he'd been to Moon Tree. But she had better things to do, a love of her own to find and enjoy. He felt his body shaking but didn't realize that he was quietly sobbing where he'd lain, not far outside the nursery with no inclination to get up, to figure out where he was, to even use his other senses to help him. A look of distress covered the blue-hued features of Harmonymoon as he went down. Frantic that something bad had happened to him, Harmonymoon moved to mimic his posture. Pressing her nose to his forehead, trying to sense if he had a fever. Something to explain the collapse. However, what she heard made her worry more, guilt also started to creep in. "Firestar would never make you go to the elder's den. I'm didn't mean to bring it up! I'm so sorry!" She told him, realizing her mistake. "I was just curious, I wouldn't want you to join the elder's den unless you wanted to go. I just heard rumors and I like to know the truth," She added her voice almost frantic, her speech rapid. She kept close to him, a distress sort of cooing noise coming from her.
Her reaction was steaming from the guilt welling up in her chest. She hadn't thought he'd react this way. It didn't occur to the half-clan she-cat that Wildstripe might be dealing with far more than an injured leg. Granted she knew that he was blind, it never bothered Harmonymoon. She could name great heroes from stories from the elders, warriors who went beyond their ailments to protect their clan. Surely Wildstripe had heard those stories from his kithood days. Didn't he have faith in himself?
Staying close to him, her nose barely touching his, she watched his face. Mismatched eyes, studying his features to be sure that the reason for his collapse wasn't a sickness. She was willing to stay like that until he told her to leave.
Pushing back quick enough the soft earth of the camp shifted, she felt her tail lash. "I'm sorry Wildstripe, I didn't mean anything by it." She told him again, desperately wanting him to forgive her. The guilt was gradually clawing up to settle deep in her chest, clamping down on her heart. Making it pound. As he started to sob, Harmonymoon felt every fiber of that tightly clamped heart started to rip apart.
Moving slightly to lay next to him, the she-cat tucked her tail around him, placing her head on top of his. Even if he told her to leave, everything was telling her to stay. He needed someone and StarClan willing she was going to be there for him.

His body shook from his sobs, breathing coming in sharp gasps as he simply stopped trying to fight the soul deep sorrow that had gripped him. He could smile, pretend he was okay, pretend he wasn't dying inside over what had happened. Former mentor dead, kit dead, sister lost a life. All because of him. Why would anyone want him around anymore? He was worthless. A blind tom no one wanted to deal with and everyone knew couldn't simply be gotten rid of. He'd heard them talking. Everyone talking. "Firestar doesn't have time for her worthless brother." He told her quietly, not bothering to hide his dark feelings from her. She could think what she wanted.
He wasn't even focusing on where she was, on what she was doing. His claim to even being a warrior was his hyper honed hearing and perception, his ability to know where he was in proximity to the world without his sight. When he wasn't focusing on all that, when he didn't have his ears up and his senses open, he was completely lost. Totally blind.
"You haven't said anything I haven't heard already. You are just nicer about it."
Wildstripe was so deep into his sadness that he didn't even notice when another cat joined them. And this one was way more vocal about things.
"Oh no! Is he hurt? Did you fall down? Did your leg give out? I know it was hurting you and you should take care of yourself when you don't feel well. StarClan doesn't need more warriors right now, they took allot when everyone got sick. Should I get Kindleflare?" Larkpaw. The little she-kit that Brightpool and adopted back in leafbare.
A tiny body pressed against his side and pushed, paws working the ground. "Get up Wildstripe. If you don't feel good you should go to the medicine den, not lie here. No one can help you here." She pushed and she wedged in against his side and tried with all her might to get him on his paws, but he just wouldn't budge.
"Harmonymoon, what's wrong with him?" She asked as she settled against his opposite side and started grooming him like her brother would do to her when she wasn't well. "Are you sad? Should I get your mother?" She thought a moment. "Or maybe Brightpool. Brightpool makes everything better, she's amazing. Or Firestar. Firestar knows everything, right? She's leader."

She felt him shake against her. A thought did cross her mind to get him up, maybe movement could help him calm down. She personally liked to just go for a walk when she was upset, but maybe he couldn't do that and that was why he just collapsed. Had the quail been bad? She had just caught it earlier in the day but even thing, something had to be wrong. Then it hit her.
His words were soft and she almost missed them. The word worthless caught her attention and Harmonymoon knew in that moment what was wrong. It wasn't about being blind or being hurt, it was about how he felt. Harmonymoon had to admit she never felt sorrow enough to put her in such a state, but she did know loneliness enough to make her question why she was in LightingClan. Why had StarClan joined two enemy cats to create her? Was it some twisted telling of 'star-crossed lovers. Regardless of StarClan's plan, Harmonymoon knew it wasn't her place to question them.
"I don't think you are worthless and I doubt that Firestar would feel that way. She loves her family too much," Harmonymoon told him, attempting to coo softly to him. Trying to be comforting, an attempt to calm him. She furthered her efforts by rubbing her cheek against his. She purred between the cooing noises and even offered a gentle lick to his forehead. Doing everything she could think of at the moment to help calm him enough to stand up.
She forced herself to not comment on what he said next. It made the guilt rear it's ugly head again, knowing that she was adding to his hurt. Poison was still poison even if it came from the sweetest flower.
Between her licks and soft noises, Harmonymoon barely noticed Larkpaw join them. The tiny she-cat was known throughout the camp was being the sister of a loner and Brightpool's adopted daughter. Word traveled fast in LightingClan.
Upon hearing the she-cats words of encouragement. Harmonymoon felt a tiny smile on her face. Larkpaw was probably doing a much better job, as she questioned what was wrong. Harmonymoon wondered if she should tell the truth or lie. Deciding that truth got them into the mess, the truth was going to help them out.
"Wildstripe's heart is too heavy. He has been strong for so long that it's hard now. So we need to be strong for him," Harmonymoon explained to Larkpaw, choosing to keep her words soft. Afterall, she was still fairly young.
"We can be strong for him by staying here until he calms down then we can help him to the medicine cat's den or the warrior's den so he can get some rest. Can you do that Larkpaw? Can you be strong and help Wildstripe too?" Harmonymoon asked, looking at the she-cat with tenderness. "Just sit here next to him. Maybe tell us a story? I'm sure you have a lot of stories. You are a new apprentice after all," She tried to think of something safe to talk about. Something that would be soothing to hear, anything to bring Wildstripe out of his current state.

A kitten. A kitten was trying to help him. Of all the cats in the Clan, why was it only this little one that was reaching to try and pull him out of his dark place? Harmonymoon he wasn't sure was trying to help. Her words said one thing and her actions said another. After everything he'd done she still wanted to help him, wanted to be near him. Why? He didn't understand, his heart too heavy to be able to comprehend the simple kindness. And as for the adult she-cat...he wanted to believe she meant well, it was his nature to believe the best of others, to carry on and be the still place in the storm of life, but he'd fought for so long that he had nothing left for himself. Larkpaw groomed him some more, nodding rapidly to what Harmonymoon was telling her. "I can do that. I can be strong, even though I'm small." Small and underdeveloped. "I can give it my best." What more was there to offer? Wildstripe's ears were slightly perked up, swiveled towards the she-cats and their conversation. It was slightly better than ears back and basically unresponsive to the outside world. "Maybe he'd feel better sleeping somewhere other than the warrior's den. When I'm sad I sneak into Brightpool's nest. When I was little Shadow would sing me to sleep. Um...I don't know any stories, but..." He couldn't see her, but she could feel the weak purr that was encouraging her to do whatever it was she wanted to do. "When darkness falls and dreams are gone When sorrow's all you know When the world is set against you Remember this, my dear. The sun will shine again The moon will rise tonight So let your dreams be happy Let your heart be light I am here beside you You are not alone." She grinned at him like a crazy cat, even knowing he couldn't see her. His body didn't shake as badly, but he still seemed to be having trouble. "Is it working?" She looked hopefully between the two adults, searching for encouragement. HellionOOC : Pardon the drift into singing XD.

Harmonymoon's ears tilted forward. Larkpaw was going to make a fine warrior of LightingClan, one Harmonymoon would be proud to call her name. Dividing her attention between Wildstripe and Larkpaw, Harmonymoon began the careful task of grooming the tom. She worked from his ears down to his neck, over his shoulder. Each stroke of her tongue was careful and soft, attempting to soothe the tom. Harmonymoon was going to take the blame for his current state and she would see him into a calm state even if that meant she stayed with him the rest of the day.
Hearing Larkpaw talk about Brightpool had Harmonymoon nodding. She noticed the swivel of the tom's ears and knew she was helping. Little Larkpaw to the rescue. Harmonymoon felt caught up in the little song coming from her. It was hauntingly beautiful.
"What a wonderful song Larkpaw," Harmonymoon praised, as she looked to the she-cat and smiled back. "Wildstripe, did you like Larkpaw's song?" She asked carefully, curious if she could get him to answer and perhaps sit up a little to direct this words toward the pretty little she-cat.

He felt oddly soothed by the tiny she-cat and her song from a brother she no longer got to see. It made him feel a slight pain for her as well. He had a sister he rarely saw and she a brother that she'd never be able to see again without leaving the clan. Maybe these two were actually trying to help him, despite everything?
Wildstripe's ears flicked again, but he didn't move, thinking over long on the question he was asked. "It sounds like something your mother would sing to you." He finally offered, laying his head on his paws rather than on the ground. A slight improvement. "Did your mother teach that to your brother?"
Larkpaw beamed at Harmonymoon when she got a response, feeling like she was doing good for the Clan even if she didn't feel totally at home yet. She was getting there, it was all a matter of fitting in and making friends. "Shadow taught me, I guess he learned from our mother, but I don't remember her. That's okay, I have Shadow and then I have Brightpool. So I can't be sad." She groomed one of the tom's ears, giggling when they twitched uncontrollably at the gesture.
The tom sighed finally and lifted his head. He was still heartsick and didn't want to move, but lying here wasn't doing him any good. He had to try. Especially with two attentive she-cats trying their best to help him. He acknowledged that even as it made him hurt. Why couldn't everyone be as understanding and compassionate as these two? Energetic Larkpaw and quiet Harmonymoon. Both of them of unusual circumstances even as he couldn't see them to know of any physical differences. The Clan gossiped.
He put his paws down and pushed, but his body refused to obey him so he ended up back on his stomach on the ground. His leg had gotten stiff in this position, he'd have to stretch it back out if he wanted to move properly. "I think I need help." He spoke quietly, immediately feeling a little body on one side of him.
