27 Moons. Tom. NightClan.
⇒I'm bad behavior but I do it in the best way⇐
Too much had changed in too short a time. Bonetail was already sick of grieving. Sick of the way his father acted, and the way his siblings drifted apart like dead branches in the marshes. It had been two days since his mother's passing, and one day since Dimstar's death, Pinestar's ascension, and Foxfern's announcement as the new Clan deputy.
It was as if he'd been asleep for two days, and woke up to find that everything was different.
And he hated it.
Bonetail felt restless, an unusual symptom for one who enjoyed his leisure time more than the average feline. Foxfern and Pinestar seemed to be taking pity on him; he hadn't gone on any patrols recently. Largely left to his own devices, Bonetail had kept his head down, ignoring the rising sensation of... of something in his chest that he couldn't seem to get rid of.
If that's what grief was, a horrible weight in his body that never went away, then he didn't want it.
One golden and one blue eye made a caustic sweep of NightClan's camp, ignoring the usual noises, and the note of sombriety in the air. He was looking for someone. Not the dark pelts of his siblings, or the scarred hide of his father. A glimpse of gray fur at the entrance, and Bonetail took a chance. A border patrol was returning; the white-furred tom reached the mouth of the cave quickly, and brushed his pelt against Lilyfrost's, sweeping past her with a certain gleam in his eye.
Come with me.
Waiting for her to follow, Bonetail stayed still for only a collection of heartbeats, before he was going off into the forest. The urge to run was fought tooth and claw by the urge to move slowly, to not break pace with his chosen company for the afternoon. He didn't want any more condolences for Ghostlight, and especially not for Dimstar (there was no love lost over Dimstar's death. He borderline didn't care), he wanted a piece of normalcy.
"So," drawled the white pelted warrior. "We survived." Survived the sickness. Survived the change in leadership. Survived, as Clan cats always did.

Lilyfrost NightClan Warrior Let your heart be your compass, sweetheart Lilyfrost had just returned from a border patrol, her soft grey pelt skillfully making her way through greiving and some enjoy rejoicing cats, Dimstar had died and in his place rose Pinestar, a female along with Foxfern the new deputy, both of which Lilyfrost tolerated to a degree, she was polite and accepting of the clan's new leaders but would never go out of her way to do extra's for them or nuzzle their flanks like some might.
The familiar scent of Bonetail reached her long before the tom's glorious white pelt mingled with her own, a common gesture between the pair, even with the eagle eyes that made up Lilyfrost's collection of male siblings seemingly watching their interactions." Come with me" It was seemingly more of a command than Bonetail's usual tone but the green eyed warrior paid it no mind as she nodded to the male and followed him in silence.
The air was somber and quiet, it was making the young warrior feel rather restless, she hated overloads of emotion and while she did greive for Bonetail's mother Lilyfrost had heard all the empty condolences of her clanmates, those who did not really care about the family themselves but rather they had to say something out of duty.
The female finally caught up to the male just in time to hear his words "So,,, we survived" Lilyfrost's bright green gaze met the males as she opened her maw to reply " It's what you and I do best" she spoke with a gentle purr and a flick of her tail. "Hungry?" she enquired, almost with a teasing undertone, from the time she had spent wit the male, he liked his food and she was more than happy to oblige.

It was what they did best. Bonetail and Lilyfrost... It wouldn't surprise him if, in 40 moons' time, they were the last ones standing after their kin had met unpleasant or expected ends. That was a sobering thought, and irritation flitted across his face as if a horsefly had landed on his nose. He mentally swatted it away, and let himself be drawn into her soft purr and sweet little tease.
"As a matter of fact, I am." Bonetail stretched his front legs as far as they would go, his claws extending, glowing white with the light shining through them. Arching his back next, his fur fluffed against the soft breeze, more to shake off any unwanted detritus than to keep out the air currents. His tail was the last part to be stretched out, and even then he could not undo the kink at the end. He would have that forever. A momento from the night he'd nearly lost his brother to a fox.
"Let's catch something with feathers. I can't be bothered with frogs right now." He didn't feel like getting muddy. That would just ruin his mood further. Besides, at least with the feathers, they could line their nests with it afterward - provided the kill wasn't too messy.
Bonetail smirked, the expression a common one on the face of a tom who thought so highly of himself and his own plans. He had made the right choice in seeking her out. She was different than the other NightClanners. He could tell she cared about the loss of his mother, and uncle. But he could tell she cared enough to notice he couldn't do anything with a 'sorry for your loss' or any more sappy condolences that wouldn't bring either one back.

Lilyfrost NightClan Warrior Let your heart be your compass, sweetheart The mention of catching "something with feather's" had Lilyfrost's nodding her head in silent agreement. She did not feel like chasing a frog through the marshy grounds, a pawstep wrong even with the Greenleaf heat beating down in pleasant rays above could end up lethal in the more wetland like regions of the clan's territory.
Lilyfrost could not help but notice the smirk that appeared that appeared on Bonetail's face and she let out a small breath that she did not even realise she was holding in at the gesture, it was something typical of the male and it bought a sense of relief with it While she did not expect Bonetail to be fully back to his old self for a long time yet, the glimmer of the devilishly charming male she had met on those smooth sun rocks still remained. " I need more feather's for my nest, raven feather's are the best if you ask me" \
She replied softly, a sly grin appearing on her face as she gave him a wink and then a flick under the chin with her tail before gracefully moving away, determined to get at least one raven to line her nest. Few knew of Lilyfrost's actual hatred for the species and none knew why, after all these moons Lilyfrost was not even sure why herself, just that she would kill a raven just as soon as look at it. " Come on Bonetail, lets not wait for the grass to grow" She added quickly, a small chuckle escaping her as she glanced back at the male.
A male, who had done so little to try to but had actually managed to win her favour, much to the chagrin of her already hot headed older brothers, she half expected Jaystep or Crowstrike to jump out at any minute and scold for her for what they believe is ' wasting her time with that lazy thing" because to her, Bonetail was not lazy, just selective in his effort and at least in Lilyfrost's opinion, that showed a degree of intelligence that the usual rough and tough Nightclanner tom did not have. She liked him, she would never admit it, not even to herself but she did.

Raven feathers? Bonetail could still feel the soft tickle of her tail under his chin as he followed, his smirk transforming into a tone of voice rather than a physical expression. "You have good taste, Lilyfrost." Obviously. Good taste in company. He didn't mind paying a compliment that worked both ways; in fact, they were his favorite kind.
To catch a raven was something of a challenge. It was possible, but did he really want to put forth that much effort? It would earn them a little prestige at home, but Bonetail didn't care much for glory. He could be his own biggest supporter with or without an impressive catch to his name. Yet a memory raised its head just then, and Bonetail recalled with irritating clarity the sight of his father carrying a raven into NightClan's camp.
Blackwolf was already an impressive warrior with infamy to his name outside of NightClan, and the association of power and strength to his name within. Even he had been surprised that his father had caught such a large bird, considering they weren't StoneClan cats.
Bonetail's claws itched, and he found himself scenting the air. If one was nearby, it wouldn't hurt to make an attempt.
The white-furred warrior let his focus draw in, centered around catching this bird. He probably hadn't even focused this much during his last hunting assessment, but who cares? He needed a distraction, and prey that was difficult to bring down might just work.
"We'll see who finds one first," Bonetail called. A little healthy competition would make this interesting. She was fun to play with, even if it was a game the others wouldn't understand the rules to.

Lilyfrost NightClan Warrior Let your heart be your compass, sweetheart "Let's see who finds one first" the male spoke and Lilyfrost's ear's twitched in response, her finely tuned hunter skills were being called into question and she was not one to back down from a challenge, even if there was no one winner.
" You're on fluff ball" she teased him,a angelic like voice travelling back to the male as she raced away attempting to find a raven before her male counterpart did. Lilyfrost was aware that her and Bonetail's relationship was under a lot of scrutiny ans even if she remained unsure of exactly where they stood with each other.
There was always that sense that she could rely on, one to tell her she could at least admit that they had a great deal of fun together. He pushed her as much as she pushed him, to be better cats and deepen their strange bond. She enjoyed his company, would she ever actually admit that? No but it was nice to have someone in her clan that she did not despise.

Fluff ball. Ha. She was no Ratfur; the disdainful insults that pathetic, skinny swamp-rat could come up with would rankle him on occasion, but Lilyfrost's was more of a flirtatious tease than any attempt to besmirch his vanity. Good luck, you'll need it. Bonetail veered away from the ashen she-cat, letting his senses expand to draw in the sights, scents and sounds of NightClan's pine forests.
If there was one benefit to Bonetail's chronic, deliberate laziness, it was his sense of hearing. Identifying bird-calls had developed into a pasttime, his ability to determine which bird was in the area based on what sounds he heard wasn't the most valuable skill in NightClan (where frogs was more the main staple of their diet), but Bonetail hardly ever did anything based on it's usefulness to others.
He had a knack for it, so he listened, keeping a mental record of the different calls he heard, and gradually associating them with the correct birds.
Most NightClan cats couldn't tell the difference between a crow-call and a raven-call to save their pelts. Bonetail, however, listened as he walked, keeping his ears slowly swiveling to pick up then pinpoint the specific sound he was looking for. The chatter of a crow caught his attention. There's that.
Crow calls were higher-pitched, and faster. Almost like laughing.
A raven's call was deeper and less hurried, like a mocking chuckle. Bonetail paused, one paw raised as though to take another step. There. It was faint, but he heard it; that slow chortle of a raven, and honed in on the sound.
Bonetail began moving east, towards their border with TreeClan.

Lilyfrost NightClan Warrior Let your heart be your compass, sweetheart Lilyfrost heard the raven long before she actually saw it, it's deep caw, so similar to that of crow that even she struggled to difereniciate between the two at times but it was easy when she could see themk both, raven's had long shaggy neck feathers that make for very good nest linings well at least in Lilyfrost's opinion.
The ashy grey female then dropped into the hunter's crounch as she approached the unsuspecting creature, keeping her tail still and her body very close to the ground so that her tummy brushed along the dirt, bright emerald green eyes narrowed as the raven let out another deep caw, less rythematic than the call of a crow and then dipped it's head into ther ground to find it's own tasty prey.
It was this moment that Lilyfrost choose to attack, with all the energy of a apprentice cat just learning the grey pelted warrior dived at the raven, landing just seconds after the bird attempted to take off, and wrapping her teeth around it's neck. The creature cawed and attempted to strach her with it's talons and reflexively Lilyfrost shut her eyes to protect them.
The prey fought the attacker like it's life depended on it, which it did but that was the last thing on Lilyfrost's mind, instead she was thinking of Bonetail, how he looked at her and make her stomach do this twistt knot thing that no other tom could manage to do, she liked the challenge he was to allure and despite all the negetive opinions, she knew that he did indeed care about what some cat's thought of him.
Lilyfrost cared about what other's thought of her to a degree, she would never allow them to have a negetive impression of her skills as a warrior but as far as friendliness went she was not most cat's first choice, polite but elusive and disinterested was a common interaction tactic with her, she tolerated only some cats and actually liked even fewer.
Bonetail on the other hand, Lilyfrost found herself getting semi flustered or lost for words at times, which would come as a suprise to anyone lucky enough to earn her favour, Lilyfrost was well spoken and very diplomatic, with her five brother's she had to be.
Jaystep had told her what he had taught of Bonetail and while Crowstrike had not yet confronted her about it, she could sense that he knew enough from Jaystep and her three litter mates to dissapprove of the pairing, but since none of them where ever going to settle down, it was up to her to continue the family line.

27 Moons. Tom. NightClan.
⇒I'm bad behavior but I do it in the best way⇐
The idle raven song and the mild pace he'd set for himself were brutally interrupted. Bonetail's blue-and-green eyes widened with the realization that Lilyfrost had found it before he had; he didn't know whether to smirk or to scowl. Quickening his stride, the white-furred warrior slipped through the pine trees and dark green ferns until he was at the point where the noise was loudest - and Lilyfrost was right in the center of it.
She had the bird by the neck, but it was struggling like any creature with half a brain would. Bonetail chose his timing carefully, his approach slowing to make sure he didn't miss a vital opportunity. Bonetail made a short lunge, and clamped white-furred paws down onto one of the bird's wings, pinning it to the ground so that Lilyfrost could finish her killing bite.
The contrast between the gleaming, inky black features and the pristine snowy hue of his paws was eye-catching. Bonetail kept his weight in his front legs, but his ears pinned back, irked by the noise. "Hurry up, before I go deaf in one ear." A thoughtful tom would have said 'hurry up before it interrupts anyone else's hunting', but Bonetail wasn't particularly mindful of his Clanmates.
He was very thoughtful - about himself. His own comforts, his own wants and desires.

Lilyfrost NightClan Warrior Let your heart be your compass, sweetheart Bonetail's voice of command was the one that bought her back to reality as the bird she had been attacking fought for a few more seconds before she bit down hard on the poor bird's neck, effectively snapping its neck and killing it immediately and the squawking stopped as the life left the creature's eyes. The kill was not as clean as Lilyfrost's usual ones, she blamed being distracted but the majority of the bird was usable and the feathers would make for fine nest lining.
" Oh hush you,are just bitter that I won" she teased him, a bright smile followed as she stepped away from the bid to wink at the tom cat who had helped her. Lilyfrost was not above a little mocking of her companion, she enjoyed his company and made no effort to deny it, with him she could be herself, not the perfectly put together she cat everyone excepted her to be.
For these few minutes it was just her and Bonetail, two cats hunting, not friends not even clanmates but two beings that genuinely seemed to enjoy the other's company. It was nice and nothing could change that , she promised herself that no matter what happened, she would never let something get between her and Bonetail, he ... meant to much to her,

"Win? Let's not be too hasty, Lilyfrost." Bonetail retorted, a purr in his voice. She had won, even he could see that - but would Bonetail be so quick to admit defeat? Hardly. No kit of Blackwolf, no matter what they thought of their sire, could admit to losing at anything.
With the bird finally dead at their paws, and silence returned to the forest, the white-furred warrior slowly felt the tension in his body begin to ease. It was a slow process, like sap oozing down bark, but it had begun - and Bonetail had, if nothing else, lots and lots of time. Dragging the dead raven into the shade by its feet, Bonetail rolled it until its chest was exposed. He then parted the feathers, about to take a bite - when the rare urge to be chivalrous struck.
Bonetail closed his jaws, considering. With a narrowing of his eyes, the tom nudged the bird towards her. "Winner gets first bite." A low purr rumbled from the NightClan tom as Lilyfrost moved in beside him. Even he knew that a friendship couldn't be maintained on words alone, or else they'd end up with a relationship like Blackwolf and Poisonleaf.
Bonetail didn't know what had happened between his father and the she-cat that had been Blackwolf's friend for many moons, but something had spoiled their bond. Bonetail suspected it had something to do with Ghostlight, but he didn't care enough about his father's social ties to really sink his claws into the truth. Whether this friendship lasted a lifetime or only a few moons, Bonetail chose to embrace the meaning of 'you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours'.
Besides... It wasn't really the hardest thing ever, sharing food with a beautiful she-cat.
