Honeynose hated waking up early. Sleep was a beautiful, beautiful thing - not to be spoiled by anything. Well, except for maybe patrols; if she had one complaint about warriorhood, it was the dawn patrol. So when her sister Cricketspring started prodding her awake for some crazy reason, Honeynose grumbled into her nest, and tucked her limbs in tighter. "S'too early, Cricketspring."
Her mumbling was greeted by a soft scoff. "Now's the best time to hunt birds!" Her sister then bopped her lightly on the muzzle, showing off her speedy reflexes. Honeynose stuck her tongue out. "I don't even like birds." She did. A nice tasty sparrow was a good way to start the day - but this early in the morning? Pah! Honeynose wanted a large helping of sleep, not birds.
Cricketspring snickered, and gave Honeynose's ear a tug. "I bet if Vipertail asked, you'd get right up." Cricketspring than mimicked a brief conversation, her voice deepening comically for Vipertail before soaring into a giggly falsetto for Honeynose's.
'Hey Honeynose, want to watch my coat glimmer in the sunshine?'
'Sure Vipertail! I'll follow you anywhere!'
Honeynose got up and gave Cricketspring a little push, her fur fluffed up with embarrassment. "I do not sound like that!" Mortified, her yellow-green eyes darted around the warriors' den, afraid Vipertail had been listening in - but, perhaps a mercy of StarClan, the warrior was nowhere to be seen.
While Cricketspring snickered her way out into the sunlight, Honeynose grumpily tiptoed over their sleeping Clanmates to follow. "You don't have to tease."
Cricketspring stopped in her tracks, her ears pricking. "You really like him that much, huh?"
Honeynose flushed under her coat. Why did her sister sound so surprised? Vipertail was a great warrior, and a very good friend. Shyly, Honeynose nodded. "Since I became an apprentice. We've been... hanging out lately." Her heart-rate sped up; it felt so exciting to say those words.
Cricketspring's eyes widened. Then she glanced past Honeynose, to spot the very subject of their conversation. "Hey Vipertail! I was just telling my sister that I couldn't go hunting with her this morning, I promised Fallenleaf I'd bring in fresh bedding for the elders. Can you take my place instead? I know she'll be safe with you."
Cricketspring could be a terrible, wonderful, awful, fantastic sister. Honeynose spun around to see Vipertail, and stammered out a purr. She felt both nervous and very much alive, any traces of sleep disappearing now that he was nearby. Honeynose smiled, giddy, and wanted to brush her pelt against his in greeting - but she couldn't do that. Not when Herondive might see.

VipertailStoneClan - 24 Moons - Tom - Warrior The dawn sky opened up above the StoneClan camp, where Vipertail lay out, green eyes blinking in to the distant haze. He basked in the stillness of the early morn, letting his thoughts wander where they might. But it seemed no matter what paths they took, they ended up back at those same tabby stripes. The dark-furred warrior sighed and rolled over, squeezing his eyes shut. Honeynose.
Muted voices sounded from the warrior's den, which he had abandoned some time earlier. Vipertail flicked his ears curiously, straining to hear as he got to his paws. He began to pad towards the warriors den, the tip of his tail twitching pleasantly. "You don't have to tease." It was Honeynose. His ears pricked curiously as he approached. Next, Cricketspring: "You really like him that much?" He stopped dead in his tracks, feeling a mixture of anticipation and dread all at once. What if it wasn't him? What if it was him? "Since I became an apprentice." He hadn't meant to eavesdrop. "We've been hanging out lately." He took a moment to smooth his coat, trying not to seem flustered. And just in time.
He looked up as Cricketspring called to him, smiling gently as he started towards the sisters. "It would be my pleasure," he purred. 214 - Fawn - Sorry, got cut short.

Honeynose sent her sister a frazzled look when Vipertail wasn't looking. How does my fur look? Cricketspring read the anxiousness in her eyes, and smiled encouragingly. I guess I don't look like I lost a fight with my nest this morning. What a relief. On surer footing now that she didn't look like a mess, and Vipertail actually wanted to go hunting with her, the tabby and white she-cat purred back, trying her best not to look starry-eyed.
His pelt really did glimmer in the sunshine.
Honeynose stretched, first her front limbs and then her back limbs, finishing with a soft jostle of her fur to shake off any lingering drowsiness (or moss bits). With bright eyes and a beating heart, she set off for the Clan entrance, glancing back to make sure he was following - and then matching him step for step when he caught up.
"There's something I'm really curious about, Vipertail," she chose to open the conversation with a smile, uncertain as to why her heart was racing again. "When Herondive and I were still apprentices, I asked her where she pictured herself in 20 moons from now. What about you?"
It had been so... so silly, but Honeynose had secretly, ardently pictured herself with him. Herondive and Hazelpaw would be great warriors, Herondive might even become deputy some day, but for little ol' Honeynose? She didn't want much. She wanted to serve her Clan well, and experience what her mother had; falling in love and raising a litter of her own.
Oh StarClan, I'm getting ahead of myself. Why did his answer make her so nervous? What if he says something like 'I dunno, I'll get there when I get there'? Maybe because she so badly wanted to be part of his future, as more than just a friend. A hunting partner.
She really did like him, and there was a not-so-small seed taking root in her heart that believed he may just return those feelings.

VipertailStoneClan - 24 Moons - Tom - Warrior Vipertail stepped back from the warrior's den, turning away. He faced the camp entrance, where Mistcloud stood guard, her striped silver tail twitching absently. He thanked the stars that he didn't have her duty today, and made a note to bring her some prey later. Guarding the camp was necessary, but could get so redundant. Vipertail preferred more active duties.
Honeynose joined him, and they set off together. He cast a final glance back at Cricketspring, who looked a little too pleased with herself. His whiskers twitched with amusement, nodding to Mistcloud as they passed. The pair walked in silence for a moment. "There's something I'm really curious about," Honeynose began. The dark-furred tom glanced over to the tabby-and-white she-cat. "...where do you see yourself in 20 moons?" He tilted his head to the side for a moment, considering. Much had changed since they'd been apprentices, though it didn't seem like long ago at all.
"With you, I hope," he mewed with finality, his affectionate gaze seeking hers. 168 - Fawn - Short & sweet...

Honeynose's heart grew wings and took off into the sky. A purr loudly made its way out of her body, petite form seeming to vibrate with the happy inclinations of Vipertail's words. Oh StarClan, was she reading too much into this? Seeing the affection in his eyes, and the way he smiled at her... No. She was reading this exactly right.
"I hope for that too," she confessed, her smile unable to be put down for anything. "I hope that we can be--" 'good friends' wasn't the right word at all. If friendship was all she'd wanted, her heart wouldn't be beating so fast. Paws feeling so tingly. "--Always there for each other. Don't tell Herondive or Hazelpaw, but some of my happiest moments are with you." Honeynose's tail curled and uncurled, letting her gaze drop as she got used to these feelings.
Used to this honesty.
"I-I think you're great, Vipertail. I really like you." With my whole heart. Maybe it was wrong of her, and a mark that she wasn't a very good warrior, but Honeynose's intentions to go hunting today had slipped through her claws like smoke. It wasn't a priority, not right now. Not when her heart was perched on the edge of her throat, anxious to hear his reply.

VipertailStoneClan - 24 Moons - Tom - Warrior The she-cat's mew was like, well, honey to his ears. Her purr ignited his own, and it was all Vipertail could do to not giggle like a giddy kit. His green eyes sparkled. Always there for each other. That sounded... right.
"Some of my happiest moments are with you." Vipertail felt as if his heart skipped a beat, all the words he might have said catching in his throat. Her gaze dropped, but his didn't leave her form. Honeynose's short, soft pelt, he thought, was more magnificent than any mere sunrise StarClan could create. The places where the umber seas of her fur met the brilliant white meant so much more to him than the places where the mountains met the sky. And Vipertail could all but get lost in the mazes of her striped coat. "I think you're great, Vipertail. I really like you." He took a step forward, craning his head towards his companion, his eyes seeking hers.
"Honeynose," he started, his smile growing. "I feel the same." He paused for a moment, a euphoric feeling washing over him. "Actually, Honeynose..."The warrior blinked, his head tilting slightly to the side as he continued, "I think I love you."

"Actually, Honeynose... I think I love you."
Honeynose's entire being seemed to react with surprise; her tail went utterly straight, fluffed worse than a squirrel's, and her eyes were as wide as river stones. "You--love--me?" Did he really just say what I think he said? Honeynose stared, one paw raised, her heart seeming to be the only sound that existed between them. The heavy thump thump thump was something he (and the entire valley) was certain to hear.
Comically, the tabby and white warrioress lifted one paw, and gave one of her toes a hard little nip.
Oh my StarClan, I'm not dreaming! He really did say that!
"I t-think I love you too! A lot. More than a lot. More than--" Honeynose struggled for the right adjective, her words bubbling out like water from a spring. It was a wonder she didn't float away to Silverpelt. With a loud purr, and a shake of her head - letting go of her efforts to find the right word - Honeynose stepped close to nuzzle Vipertail's cheek.
"I've had a crush on you since we were apprentices," she confessed, heart singing at the joy of it. Wait until I tell Cricketspring! And Hazelcloud and Herondi--
Oh no, what if Herondive didn't like it? What if it made Herondive too uncomfortable, seeing her be... together with Vipertail? "What do you think Herondive will say? Do you--do you think she'll mind?" Her thoughts took off like a hare spotted by a hawk, racing through her imagination until she had spun a tail of secret meetings outside of camp. Of romantic walks by moonlight, when Herondive was asleep and no one would judge them for their feelings...
Herondive's your best friend. You HAVE to tell her.
Have to.
Honeynose couldn't keep still, dancing on the tips of her paws as nervousness and bliss took turns making her heart beat quicker.
