Lynxkit
Lynxkit shifted from the soft nursery bedding, looking over at his brother's flanks as it rose slowly beside him. It had been a little over a moon since their had died, leaving the two alone in the nursery with themselves. In the past moon Lynxkit had grown a lot closer to his brother, even more so than before, and he couldn't help but feel a certain protection over the his litter mate, even though they were both just kits against the world.
The kit, watched as the sun rose in the sky steadily for most of the morning, and just as it was about to peak, gently pawed at his brother, waking the other kit from his rest. Lynxkit, assuming a paternal role, as much as he could for a 4 moon old kitten, awkwardly went to lick his brother between the ears, as he had watched many queens do around him in the Lightningclan Nursery. Quickly, however, as he felt eyes bear into him as the others watched, he stopped and looked over to Desertpaw.
"Morning Sleepyhead. It's almost high-noon and you haven't even disrupted any warriors today." Lynxkit couldnt help but tease his brother, as he slowly lifted his heavy body onto his shaky haunches. The kit let out a very tiny mew, and he headed towards the entrance of the nursery, eager to explore the camp with his brother, as they had been doing for the past few mornings.
Lynxkit found his mind begin to wander towards what they might find today. Maybe a particularly large piece of prey had been left on the fresh kill pile, or maybe a fox had entered the camp, or maybe even the camp had been completely destroyed by a windstorm. Wait, no. That last one seemed like a stretch. As almost if on schedule, Lynxkit's mind had got ahead of him and in an instant he found himself with a mouthful of dirt as he stumbled forward into the ground.
Unfortunately, Lynxkit knew too much what this tasted like. Getting up as if to feign nothing had happened, the kit shook himself of the dirt and looked back at his brother, making sure Desertpaw was following with a couple more words. "Come on Mouse-brain. Before the sun sets."

Desertkit “ So, what is the plan today brother?” Desertkit questioned as he ran forward and screeched to a halt in front of his brother. There was a pause as the looked at each other, nothing but the sound of the wind shifting dirt around could be heard. Right as Desertkit was about to question his brother again Lynxkit spoke up. “ The same as every other day, excluding the part where you get yourself into trouble” Lynxkit glared at his brother then lightly nudged him to the side and continued trotting towards the familiar scent of a fresh kill. “ That isn't fair it's usually not my fault I get in trouble.” Desertkit paused as if he knew what he had just said was not the truth. “ Well... not entirely my fault, I just like to have fun it is who I am you know that.” Desertkit looked up to see there was a bit of a gap between the two. Stumbling in the loose dirt he dashed forward to keep pace with Lynxkit. “ I really hate how this dirt feels in my paws, I can't run around as much as I like to with my paws sticking in the dirt.” There was no response to Desertkit's complaint right as he was about to mutter another word he picked up on the scent his brother had been following. As they rounded a rock the smell thickened in their nostrils. A fresh pile of meat lay just feet away from them with no one else but them around. “ Yes, I am starving!” Desertkit sprinted face first into the pile of meat without any thought, just his primal instinct to eat. “ Wait brother don't!” Lynxkit was to late though by now his brother had already taken a chunk out of the abandoned carcass. Desertkit looked back at his brother confused, as a piece that he had ripped off hung from his mouth. “We don't know if we are allowed to eat that, look no one is around for all we know it could be diseased.” Lynxkit was to late though his brother had swallowed the chunk. “ I am sure it's fine, someone must have just gone on a stroll before they ate I am sure of it.” Desertkit jokingly said as he reached for another bite. Man why does he always have to be right, who cares I am to hungry to worry about things like that. The smell grew as Desertkit ripped off piece by piece until he stopped to beckon his brother over. “ Come on, there is nothing wrong if you don't hurry up I am going to eat your share too!” Desertkit taunted as if to persuade his brother into coming and eating just in case there would be trouble Desertkit wouldn't be punished for eating the carcass alone.

Lynxkit
“The same as every other day, excluding the part where you get yourself into trouble” Lynxkit's eyes rolled in his head as he watched Desertkit walk ahead, keeping half a pace behind him, as if to keep an eye on him. This action was justified, however as Desertkit stepped forward, taking a huge pile of some fresh kill that had been left at the fresh kill pile.
Lynxkit shook his head, completely embarrassed over his brother's rash actions. He looked around, almost cautiously, to see if any cat was around, before approaching Desertkit's side, looking down at the fresh kill his brother was enjoying. He felt a pang of hunger in his stomach, but Lynxkit stood still, holding himself back, "Uh. You eat brother. I'll be fine."Lynxkit's soft eyes turned to look over the camp, as his brother ate, his chest huffed out as if to make himself seem bigger among the warriors of Lightningclan. The rest of the cats seemed to pay little attention to the duo, which relieved Lynxkit. He let out a sigh of relief and sat by his brother, licking his paw over gingerly. His mind found itself wandering as he sat, thinking about the training that would one day occur for him an his brother to become warriors.
He imagined the strength in his legs, his muscles twisting and releasing as he pounced, landing heavily on a mouse and snapping its neck in his jaw. He wondered what it would feel like to feel the life snuffed out with his own strength, and yet something about it haunted it. Lynxkit shook himself, softly, letting him mind clear, focusing in once again on Desertkit.
"Seriously, Brother. You don't even ask. Sometimes I worry about you." On his words, Lynxkit slowly meandered over to the fresh kill pile, picking out a small mouse, much similar to the one he had just hunted in his imagination. With a certain trot to his step, the kit walked slightly close toward the nursery warren and settled in, slowly eating the mouse, all while watching Desertkit intently.

Desertkit Scarfing down his last bite Desertkit could feel his brothers eyes on him, without looking up he questioned his brothers choice. “ Is that really all you are going to eat?” Stretching his back after filling himself to the point he felt like he could burst open he began to try and catch the newly present flies that surrounded the fresh kill he had just eaten from. He was invigorated pouncing back and forth trying to catch one until he became overwhelmed at the shear number of flies that had shown up in what seemed just seconds. He jumped through the almost cloud like formation that floated over the carcass. The Kit noticed that his brother had wandered over to the nursery at this point and decided that he was a little to restless to go lie down next to him. He continued to pounce about at the flies that had slowly dissipated in numbers due to his constant attempts to make contact with them. Desertkit began to day dream about becoming a warrior, he was sure with his fiery spirit and constant need for action he would make a great warrior one day. He began to mimic the actions he had seen of warriors from the clan. He was filled with joy as he ran back and forth trying to match the speeds of those older than him. “ Ouch!” Desertkit lifted his head out of the dirt and shook himself loose of the dirt that had covered him from tripping. The feeling of drowsiness began to set on the young Kit. He gazed over to the close by nursery and to his brother and decided it was time to get some rest as well he was satisfied for the moment. So many thoughts race through his head as he prepared to lay down next to his brother. Thoughts of becoming a strong warrior and the adventures he would be able to embark on with his brother. These ideas began to fade away as Desertkit could feel himself slip slowly in sleep, passing out sprawled on the nursery floor.

He could still feel each wound to his hide and knew that one of his legs was broken. He would be stuck in camp for awhile yet, probably at least until sometime in greenleaf. It all depended on how quickly the leg healed, or if it healed at all. Some part of him hoped it didn't, that StarClan would punish his deeds in a way that meant he would be forced to retire to the elder's den. It would destroy his spirit for it to happen when he so needed the independence being a warrior brought him. The only way to be of use to the clan. And it would serve him right for failing Whitesparrow and Echopaw, for disobeying Firestar. Their deaths were all his fault. The warrior was limping aimlessly, not even bothering to try and navigate his way around camp. He was heartsick and overall just wanted to disappear. Eventually, through the gentle nudging of some benevolent queen, he ended up in the nursery. "You stay here and rest, I'm going to tell Kindleflare that I found you so she can locate you if she wants." The tom was plopped near something small and furry, he assumed it was a kit. BlooRey DVD for Kindleflare mention OOC : So he's been plopped down next to the snoozing Desertkit. The queen is a random NPC so feel free to pick one if you need to.

Lynxkit
Lynxkit watched the events unfold, his eyes training on Wildstripe, as the cat painfully made his way into the nursery den. His green eyes were wide, as he watched the warrior, his eyes brimming with an overwhelming curiosity about the new cat in the nursery. Lifting himself up awkwardly, onto his frail legs, Lynxkit made his way over to his brother's sleeping side, amazed at how quickly Desertkit was able to drain himself of energy. He found his tail instinctively wrap around the small cat, peering over at Wildstripe. He studied the tom intensely, admiring his stripped coat and his sheer body mass. Wildstripe was huge, compared to most of the queens Lynxkit had seen in Lightningclan, leaving him in awe. There seemed to be something about the cat, aside from his leg which seemed to be massively injured. Was it a brain injury? Lynxkit couldn't help but let his mind wander as he tried to figure out why the warrior seemed so lost. Then, as she was studying the tom, he finally realized who had come to sit next to them. Lynxkit's mouth dropped. "A-Are you Wildstripe?" He mewed from his brother's side, using Desertkit as some sort of shield. "I've heard lot of things about Wildstripe" he continued, "It's not everyday there's a blind cat that makes such a fierce warrior." As the thought that this might be the fierce warrior he had heard of echoed through his mind, Lynxkit couln't help but feel a little awestruck, pawing anxiously at his brother. "This is Desertkit, my brother, and I know he loves stories! Would you mind?" For no reason in particular, as he spoke, Lynxkit quickly moved between Desertkit and Wildstripe, resting his tail against the fierce warrior's haunches as if to remind the warrior of their meager presence next to him.

Desertkit
The sound of his brothers voice broke Desertkit out of his slumber almost as if it were some sort of spell that only his brother knew. He was not sure what was going on still groggy he began to stretch out his legs and neck scanning the area. His eyes were still getting warmed up to the objects around him but he could make out the shape of his brother and another figure just passed him lying on the ground. Everything began to come into focus. “ No way... Brother is that who I think it is?” Without a word being exchanged Desertkit knew that it had to be the blind warrior they had heard about from how his brothers posture when he had questioned him. Feeling as if stones were tethered to his body from being drowsy still Desertkit carefully lifted his body from the floor. Standing up fully he arced his back and shook off the dirt still clinging to his fur and moved next to his brother gently sitting down next to him, trying not to disturb or startle the warrior that was in front of the two kits. Desertkit had so many questions, full to the brim with curiosity about the life of a warrior and the adventures and battles they had been apart of. He wanted to respect the injured warrior by not bothering him but he could feel his endless imagination bubble up and get the better of him. Without a second thought Desertkit blurted breaking the silence. “You have to tell me everything about your adventures, I need to know!” Desertkit almost immediately rose out of excitement for the flurry of of answers he was awaiting to receive. “Have you visited far away places? What is it like outside of the village?” Desertkit stopped he could feel his brothers glare. “ Sorry, I...” With a drawn out sigh Desertkit took a few steps back and sat down next to his brother, he finished apologizing to the warrior. “ Get a little to restless sometimes.” Desertkit looked down in shame he knew that he shouldn't have pestered the resting tom.

He startled when he was spoken to, knowing there was a little body near his own but not caring enough to use his other senses to figure out where. And he was known here, which suprised him. He lifted his head from his paws, staring blankly straight ahead since he wasn't bothering to even try and give the impression he knew where he was or where the kit that was talking to him was. He could figure it out. He was likely in the nursery, with the kits. He didn't need to be here. He tried to get up, but his still healing leg protested so much that he ended up lying back in the same place. Kindleflare would probably have words with him if he'd reinjured the healing limb, but he couldn't bring himself to care.
Wildstripe finally realized he should answer. "I am." He laid his head back on his paws and closed his useless eyes. "I am not a fierce warrior, little one, just a very stubborn one." Desertkit, brother. Two kits. It took him a moment. Desertkit meant this one was Lynxkit, the two orphaned kits in LightningClan's nursery. His heart clenched in pain.
Then the other was awake and it was a sudden flurry of excited kitten chatter. "One at a time please, and not so loud, my ears." Which were ultra-honed to all sounds since he had to compensate for his lack of sight. "Take a deep breath and let it ease out slowly."
He lifted his head, finally using his ears to figure out where the kits were so that he could give each one a quick little groom between their ears. "You want a story? From me?" Why? He couldn't tell them anything, he'd never seen it. But...
"I took my first journey to Moon Tree as an escort for our medicine cat back in leaf-fall. It is the furthest from home I have ever been, and all the new scents and sounds were overwhelming. I stayed close to Cherrypool, another warrior, and minded Kindleflare and Rookfrost on their journey to meet with the other medicine cats. It was the greatest honor to be trusted to protect our medicine cats on their trip. And my fellow escort was kind enough to describe Moon Tree to me."

A tired amber gaze flicked over familiar territory as Kindleflare pushed back into main camp. She spent much of her time tending to the sick in the abandoned rabbit warrens, but her duty to the healthy remained; Wildstripe, for example, had a still-healing leg. She hated the fact she was forced to spend so much time away from him, unable to check on him as frequently as she would have liked but... Clanmates were dying. She'd lost two warriors already, and the guilt weighed on her. Despite her displeasure, physical injuries, unless life-threatening, dropped to a secondary importance so long as greencough still ravaged the Clan.
Today, however, she took an opportunity to visit the wounded warrior. Kindleflare had meticulously washed her paws and coat, cleansing it from any remnants of the sickness. Though it ate up a tremendous amount of time, it was the only way she could allow herself to re-enter the camp full of healthy souls. Otherwise, she posed too much of a risk. With a bundle of herbs swinging in her jaws, the ginger and white she-cat moved toward the warrior's den where she figured Wildstripe would be residing. Imagine her surprise, then, to hear the tom's voice coming from the nursery.
Blinking in mild confusion, the she-cat altered her course, ears pricking as she picked up on the end of a conversation. He... He's d-describing the time he e-escorted us to the M-Moon Tree. She thought to herself, pausing momentarily at the entrance. Steadying her breath, she ducked through, eyes adjusting to the new lighting to take in the two kits listening intently to the white warrior. Dropping the herbs at her paws, Kindleflare offered a gentle smile before meowing softly. "The M-Moon Tree... Is a place unlike a-any other. You c-can feel its presence, e-even before approaching it. And to s-stand at its base? B-Breathtaking."
She glanced toward Wildstripe, worry glinting in her amber eyes as she took in his dejected state. Focusing on the kits once more, she began again. "D-Don't let Wildstripe fool you. We were h-honored to have him as an esc-cort to the Moon Tree. N-No one in the Clan has h-hearing better attuned to changes in a-ambient sound than Wildstripe. We kn-knew he would pick up on a-anything that might end-danger us." |

Lynxkit As night has taken what is left of day and everything is like it’s made of clay Lynxkit couldn't help but flick his tail nervously as his brother spewed forward words directed at Wildstripe. The kit flicked his tail, almost apologetically, briefly forgetting that the warrior couldn't see. Lynxkit was about to interject his brother's series of endless questions when Desertkit did something out of the usual and apologize. “Sorry, I... get a little to restless sometimes." There was a warmth in Lynxkit's chest as he heard his brother apologize, his heavy onset of whisker's twitching with pride over his brother.
Without even thinking, Lynxkit found himself stepping forward, wanting to give his brother a small reassuring lick at the shoulder, as some sort of positive reinforcement for his behavior; the kit stopped himself as Wildstripe spoke. Lynxkit had always really enjoyed paying attention to stories and details, and Wildstripe's was no different from the others. The senior warrior, spoke of his past and the Moon tree, a place of communal for Medicine cats. He couldn't help but feel a small wistful pang in his chest at the words escaping Wildstripe's lips, a small ounce of jealousy forming deep in his chest. The kit found himself wondering if he might ever be entrusted with such a journey.
Lynxkit was about to ask Wildstripe what he had been told what the Moon Tree looked like when the kit noticed another cat enter the nursery. He couldn't help but recognize the beautiful cat as Kindleflare, a cat he had also very much come to admire, from his perch outside the nursery. Greencough had run the Medicine cat haggard, as she had to tend to all the sick cats outside of the camp, and yet, Lynxkit couldn't help but notice her meticulous coat. For a cat to deal with all of Lightningclan's tragedies and still look so good, it must take an enormous amount of energy and determination, something which was easily visible in Kindleflare. Lynxkit smiled as she approached.
Her words were choppy, yet none the less Lynxkit found himself absorbed in them, hoping Desertkit would manage not to comment on the she-cat's stutter. As she spoke of the Moon Tree, Lynxkit found his aforementioned questions answered, deciding that he would too one day see the Moon Tree for himself.
Without precedence of how to react around two respected clan cats, Lynxkit found himself at a loss for words. He pondered his actions carefully, his mind wandering forward as Kindleflare spoke, imagining what it would be like to escort her to the wondrous tree. He shook his head. Focus.
"Kindleflare..." He managed the Medicine cat's name, with a small smile, "What is it like? What is it like to be under the Moon Tree? Have you spoken to Starclan? What was it like? Was it wonder--" the kit stopped himself, biting back his words as he found himself spewing them. Lynxkit tried to suppress the curiosity in his chest, unsuccessfully managing to dull the bright fires lit behind his jade colored eyes. Desertkit 4 Moons | LightningClan | TomStill combing over the rather unusual apology that had come from his mouth. Desertkit sat silent, and listened to what the blind warrior had to say absorbing every piece of information. A great feeling of adventure rushed over Desertkit as he heard the Moon Tree and Wildstripe's trek to escort the clan's medicine cat. He wondered if he would ever visit such a place he had heard of it from his brother and a jealous feeling brushed over the young kit directed at Wildstripe's and the journey he had experienced. Losing himself in his imagination for a moment until something caught his attention, he felt his brother's attention shift towards something, it was a she-cat that from the features he recognized from descriptions and stories he had heard that his was Kindleflare.
Baffled at how two prestigious clan members were there before him, and what sort of circumstances had occurred to bring these events to light. Desertkit knew that he couldn't make a mistake or misbehave now, for the sake of himself and for the sake of not embarrassing his brother. He puffed out his chest at sat up straight almost statuesque as if to show respect to the Medicine Cat that he had heard about. As Kindleflare began to speak he noticed the stutter briefly but decided not to comment or take to much notice to it because he knew that his curiosity would only lead himself to trouble with the She-cat.
Hearing that Wildstripe had traveled to the Moon Tree sent a rush up Desertkit's spine, vivid pictures dashed across his mind of what the Moon Tree looked like. What sort of smells would kill his nostrils as he stood in his presence, what sort of sounds would skitter across it's base. He could see it all himself his brother there, thanks to the descriptions offered by the two Cats in front of them, his thankfulness was beyond expression that he and his brother were able to hear of such adventures. The fire and thirst for a journey such as the one they were being described only grew like a wild fire in the middle of a hot summers day.
He had spaced out and was unaware of what was going on taking a moment to debrief himself on the current status of the conversation he noticed Lynxkit was just as enamored as he was. Surprised his brother did something out of the normal he giggled to himself because of how his own brother. The one who consistently said not to over do anything, and not to cause trouble had fallen into the same bunch as Desertkit out of pure excitement. Desertkit noticed his brother pause and stopped giggling at his outburst, a moment of silence brushed over the four of them and Desertkit seized the moment to continue asking questions he wanted answers to.
“Wonderful!? You have to take us!” Desertkit felt free and began to let his need for adventure pour fourth unhindered by any thoughts of consequences. “Will you please take us? I want to hear every detail about the journey there and what it was like! Don't leave anything out, have you really spoken to the star clan.” He was curious beyond belief, and could feel that his brother might be too and decided to drag him into his outburst that he had continued for Lynxkit, “We both want to know everything!” For a moment Desertkit wondered if he would regret that choice, but he was to curious to really dwell on such a thought at a time like this.

His ears shot straight up when Kindleflare spoke up. He hadn't heard her come in, hadn't cared to check if she was nearby. He winced as he came to his paws, trying not to appear as if he still hurt though he couldn't bare weight on his injured leg without some significant pain. He wondered if the leg would ever properly heal, as the break had been pretty bad. No time to think on that now. "You humor me and overestimate my abilities. I was so lost the whole way, would have never gone if I hadn't had a familiar scent to follow the entire way. I was and am only grateful that I got to go, that I was trusted enough with your safety to be chosen." His failure still stung, but at least he'd managed Moon Tree. He had to sit down again, his leg throbbing in pain. The kits wanted attention, and they had so many questions and wanted so much. It eased his heart to listen to their little chattering voices, then pained it to remember he'd never have kits of his own, never have a family. His tail twitched as they both exploded with words, head shaking after a bit. "You're too young to take the trip to Moon Tree. Besides, it is the Medicine Cat that chooses who goes." He took a breath, shutting his eyes. "As for StarClan, one need not hear them to feel their presence. StarClan moves around us all the time, they listen, they guide, they keep us on our path of life. I can't hear them speak, but I know they are always with me." It was the one belief of his that had kept him from just wandering off into the surrounding wilderness to die in those early days when his heart had been broken so much he'd wanted to die. Now, with the Clan only just recovering from greencough and so many kits and apprentices coming up....He couldn't leave his sister alone, most importantly of all. He wouldn't leave Firestar. @minxxy @vextha BlooRey DVDOOC : Sorry for the wait.
