"Willowbreeze please join Silverfrost on a hunting patrol," Rushwhisker meowed to the blue-pointed she-cat. Her ears flicked back unsure why Rushwhisker thought it was a good idea for her to go with him. Turning toward the tom-cat, Willowbreeze offered a silent greeting in the form of a nod.
"Um..we can go to the wooded cove. I overheard Honeywisp saying there were a bunch of birds nesting over there," Willowbreeze told him, avoiding eye-contact with the tom and heading for the camp entrance. Normally she hunted with her sister, Gullswoop or Jaycry. Not that she had anything against Silverfrost. In fact she thought he was a pretty decent warrior, it was his history that made it difficult to interact with him.
She doubt he'd ever flirt with her, but then again he was pretty popular with the she-cat in the clan. Doing her best to shake away the thought, Willowbreeze paused to check to see if he was following, before taking the lead to the wooded cove.

He'd been sitting on a stone, simply basking in the sun, when Willowbreeze approached him. The silver tom immediately came down from his perch, head tipping and a slow smile coming onto his handsome features. "Of course." He dipped his head slightly. "She-cats first." But really it was an excuse to look over the other warrior. He did enjoy looking at the pretty cats around him, regardless of rather or not he was flirting with them. This one seemed a little...nervous perhaps?
He did turn his focus on the task at hand as they walked further along, quietly contemplating his next actions. First, of course, was catching at least one bird, preferably a fat one. "Are we to be on the lookout for any herbs as well?" After all, leafbare did tend to deplete their medicine cat's stores of herbs and the other ingredients needed to keep a Clan healthy and strong. Keeping a lookout meant they'd note where they were and bring news back to Ottersplash as needed. Best for their medicine cat to gather herbs than they, who may pick something that would make them sick if handled wrong.
Silverfrost could hear the sound of wings. "My, but they are active today."
Willowbreeze did her best to focus by counting the paw steps it took. She was nearly up to 300 hundred when Silverfrost distracted her with his question. Turning her head to look back at him she was distracted by his pretty blue eyes. Almost stumbling, Willowbreeze managed to correct her pawsteps before answering him.
"I guess we can. Rushwhisker just asked for us to hunt. I'm not very good with herbs," She explained looking away from him and toward the direction they were travelling. Her own knowledge of herbs was lacking, she could recognize death berries but that was about it. Slowly down her stride the closer they got to the willow cove, Willowbreeze turned to look at Silverfrost again. She watched him for a single second just to see if wanted to take the lead and not because she got distracted by his eyes again.
Upon hearing him point out that the bird were indeed active, Willowbreeze's attention drifted upwards. She was able to pick out the fluttering of wings and the soft songs of those birds.
"How good are you at climbing? She asked, her voice a bit softer. Despite having lived her entire life in RainClan, Willowbreeze was an excellent climber, not that she'd ever mention it to anyone. As she waited for him to reply, Willowbreeze busied herself with looking at the various trees that filled up the space. Trying to pick out which one was best for climbing.
"We don't have to retrieve them, simply note them for Ottersplash. I'm sure she'd appreciate knowing when the herbs start regrowing here after leafbare was so harsh on the Clan." Leafbare was always hard for the valley and the cats within it, and each season it seemed to become worse and worse. "I do plan to hunt." He flashed her his most charming smile. "Just because we are tasked with one thing, doesn't mean we can't help in other ways."
He stopped in front of an impressive willow. "Hmmm....yes I can climb well enough for this." He tipped his head again. "I realize we are in a place that is framed by willows. Is this then, where your name comes from? The sound of the breeze blowing through the willows?"
Older she-cats were fun. They knew all the best things. But in this case, he was really curious about it. That said, however, he started the climb up the tree, silver frame standing out starkly against the bark and the tree itself. Still, he had his ways of catching birds.
Willowbreeze felt obligated to agree to Silverfrost's suggestion. It would be helpful and nice to keep an eye out for herbs. Even as she agreed to his idea she knew that Silverfrost would most likely be the one looking for the herbs. She'd focus on hunting.
Seeing his charming smile had Willowbreeze's cheeks flushing. Hearing his words made it feel like he was trying to mentor her. She didn't mind in all honesty, it was just strange. He seemed overly helpful and eager to be there for everyone, something she wasn't used to.
They parted for a moment as they looked around for various trees to climb. When he asked about her name her head turned quickly to look at him. "I don't know why the first part of name is Willow, I always guessed it was for the trees. I'm pretty sure I was named Willowbreeze because I move pretty fluidly in the trees," She explained to him. It was sort of disconnected the way she talked about herself, but nothing for him to be concerned about.
For moment she watched him begin to climb the tree before she found her own tree. Newleaf was the best time to find birds in their nests. If Willowbreeze was careful enough she could snatch a few eggs too. Kits loved the soft yolks within them. She wanted to surprise the kits with a gift of a bird egg or two.
Trying to focus on her hunt Willowbreeze found it difficult. She kept looking to try and spy Silverfrost within his own tree.
"Hmm." He commented quietly as he scaled the tree, claws sunk into the bark as far as he could manage as he haulted his silver/white form up the tree towards his goal. Really, he needed to concentrate now. He was a decent hunter if he said so himself, enough that he'd become a mentor, but in all honesty, he knew that he could be better if he didn't get distracted so easily by the she-cats around him. Perhaps this was a chance to hone his focus?
His pelt stood out so much in this season, but the birds were so twitterpated at the moment building their nests and seeking a mate for the season that they barely gave him any thought. So he leveled himself with a nice fat one and leaped, snatching it out of midair and bringing it down to the end of the branch. He dug his back claws into the bark as he slid precariously from momentum alone. But, he caught the bird.
And luck, there was a nest with eggs in it up here. But his mouth had a bird in it at the moment. He walked backward carefully, ignoring the bird's probably mate as it squawked at him, to drop the prey against the trunk of the tree where the branch met. Then he looked for Willowbreeze.
He caught her looking at him and flashed a smile, leaning over to pick up an egg and show it to her triumphantly.
She couldn't say it was second nature to be in the trees, at least it shouldn't be. Willowbreeze walked along the branches with practiced eased, trying not to feel guilty for it. She was supposed to prefer water. Hearing the squawking for birds, WIllowbreeze turned her attention to Silverfrost. It was clear he managed to make a kill, someone would be eating a nice plump bird. Adding to his triumph was an egg, which he proudly displayed for her. Feeling her cheeks warm with a blush, Willowbreeze tried to smile but it looked pained. She wasn't the greatest at interaction with cats.
Their brief exchange made Willowbreeze refocused her attention. Thankfully the few trees the grew in the area were pretty close together. With ease and steady strides, Willowbreeze leapt between branch to branch in her search of something to bring back to camp. Ignoring the cruel reminder she wasn't supposed to like the tree this much.
Less then a branch away, Willowbreeze caught sight of a small bird. Narrowing her attention to it, she moved easily on the branch, one paw in front of the other. Darting forward, she grabbed at the bird with her claws before bringing it close for a killing bite. Turning to look back toward Silverfrost, she flicked her tail to signal she too had caught something.
She waited only a for a moment before tilting her head back toward the other branches, her maw open slightly to taste the air for any more birds near by.
