StarClan’s sign still felt surreal. After she received their message, she holed up inside of her den, and then pondered the outing on which he’d helped her collect herbs. He told her that he felt like something was missing from his life, and their ancestors seemed to take him quite literally. Bluejay had kept a close eye on the warrior apprentices in the hopes TreeClan’s medicine cat apprentice would jump out to her as obvious as ever, but she never would’ve thought to look at cats that had already received their warrior name and transitioned into their new way of life. StarClan must have known she wouldn’t, and then interfered so that she would follow the right path. She was starting to give herself a headache with all of this thought, so with a sigh she pushed herself to her paws and headed straight for Lionstar’s den.

Once outside, she called to him. “Lionstar, may I come in? It’s important.” After she received permission to enter, for she was much too polite to barge in despite the weight of her news, she took a seat and curled her tail around her paws. Her expression was a strange mixture of anxious and excited. She feared he wasn’t right for the position, but who was she to question the will of StarClan? “I’m ready to announce our medicine cat apprentice to the Clan. I received a sign from StarClan, and it’s to be Falconstorm.” She studied her Clan leader closely for a reaction. What would he think of losing one of his warriors to an alteration in career?

It was obvious that she was hesitant, but her faith in StarClan was undying. “He confided in me on our outing that he felt like something was missing from his life. I didn’t take it to heart, but StarClan has steered me in his direction and I want to follow through. I was initially hesitant to choose him, I’ll admit, but I know he’ll surprise us all.” It wasn’t a matter of personality. They had endured Littletimber’s mannerisms, and Falconstorm’s tendency towards sarcasm would be a breeze for her in comparison to her deceased mentor’s eerie indifference. If her Clan leader agreed with her, they would address the Clan together to make the announcement.

“I’m ready to announce our medicine cat apprentice to the Clan. I received a sign from StarClan, and it’s to be Falconstorm.”

Lionstar could still taste the mouse he'd just eaten for the morning when Bluejay had called outside his den. Giving her permission, he had smiled, greeting her and trying to get a sense of the mood in the way she behaved. But Bluejay had given nothing away; Lionstar knew her well enough to get the sense that even if it was urgent, she still would've been polite, calm, collected.

Just like how he expected a medicine cat to be. How Littletimber had taught her.

Fully anticipating her to name one of the plethora of kits in the nursery, Lionstar's ears swung forward, pricked to the edge of his skull as if expecting to catch a haha, just kidding from the blue-furred she-cat.

"Falconstorm?" He repeated, skeptical. "StarClan sent you a sign about Falconstorm?"

Bluejay had been expecting these doubts, and she was quick to reiterate her own process with this revelation.

Well, that was decided. Lionstar stood up, swiping his tongue across his jaws to rid himself of the lingering scent and taste of mouse. "I see. I trust StarClan, and I trust my medicine cat," there was a purr of warmth accompanying these words. "I'll call the Clan together."

Never would he have pegged Falconstorm as TreeClan's next medicine cat. There was a small worry at the back of his mind that he did not know his Clanmates as well as he would have liked; it was easy to place his faith, his trust in the paws of Gorsetail and Bluejay - he had trained them himself. Watched them grow from kits into the compassionate young guardians of TreeClan he had always known they had the potential to be.

Honeysong raised Falconstorm. That's good enough. He trusted his old friend to have raised a decent warrior, and with Bluejay's help, Falconstorm would be an even better medicine cat.

Lionstar leaped to the top of the ancient stump, chin raised proudly as he addressed his Clan.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here for a Clan meeting!" With his powerful voice filling the hollow, Lionstar saw Falconstorm along with the fluffy tom's other siblings joining the converging warriors, apprentices and queens looking to stretch their legs.

He gestured with his tail for Bluejay. "With leafbare approaching, and with StarClan's good will, Bluejay has decided to take on an apprentice."
